OBLIGATORY CHANSEY COUNTER POST

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave/Protect
- Stealth Rock/Wish

252+ SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Sludge Wave vs. 4 HP / 252 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 110-133 (17.1 - 20.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock and 3 layers of Spikes

Even after all hazards sans Toxic Spikes and your strongest move (plus Modest nature, even though we're given Timid), you only get a 4HKO. Whereas you 3HKO back with Seismic Toss, and can just Softboiled up if you're not comfortable with the risk.

Chansey also can give you momentum here (GASP) since you can Thunder Wave the incoming switchin, set up a Wish to pass, or get up rocks if you haven't already, all of which are valuable options.

Week 95 Voting:

Checks:

viii Mega Latias
iii Keldeo
iii Latios
ii Kyurem-B
Latias
Hoopa-U
Garchomp
i Manaphy
Landorus-T

Counters:

iv Porygon2
iii CM Meloetta
iv Curse Gastrodon
ii AV Slowking
i Cresselia
ii Mew
i CM Blissey
AV Reuniclus
i Jellicent
i Chansey
Gyarados

You can vote for one check and one counter.
Note: I put Latios and Manaphy as checks instead of counters because they aren't consistent switch-ins; they can only switch in once during a game (at worst: if Latios only switches into EPs it'd be a counter, but Ice Beam exists unfortunately), putting them with the likes of Latias, Hoopa-U, and Kyurem-B, not Slowking, Cresselia, and Mew.

My Vote:

Check: Latios Counter: Cresselia

Week 96: Specs Hoopa-U

upload_2016-3-20_13-6-26.png
Hoopa-Unbound @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magician
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Focus Blast
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt / Trick

I chose this due to recent hype basically everywhere, but especially in the Viability Thread. Obviously, like every Hoopa-U set, counters aren't expected; you'll really only be able to nominate checks, and soft ones at that, to this offensive powerhouse.

azumarill.gif

Azumarill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Knock Off / Superpower

Role: Check

A pretty hard check to Specs Hoopa-U is AV Azumarill, which always lives a hit even after rocks and OHKOes back with Play Rough. Be careful with Trick, though. On a side note, Aqua Jet does some good damage too, so it can even switch in and pick off Hoopa if it's in low enough HP (around 40%).

252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 240 HP / 16 SpD Assault Vest Azumarill: 94-111 (23.4 - 27.6%) -- 83.7% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Focus Blast vs. 240 HP / 16 SpD Assault Vest Azumarill: 94-111 (23.4 - 27.6%) -- 83.3% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Psyshock vs. 240 HP / 0 Def Azumarill: 288-340 (71.8 - 84.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Thunderbolt vs. 240 HP / 16 SpD Assault Vest Azumarill: 282-334 (70.3 - 83.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hoopa Unbound: 542-638 (180 - 211.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Huge Power Azumarill Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hoopa Unbound: 120-142 (39.8 - 47.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spikes
- Magnet Rise
- Play Rough
- Thunder Wave

klefki is one of the better hoopa switchins because it resists both of hoopas main stab moves and needs to be hit by focus blast twice, which gives it plenty of opportunities to switch in and thunder wave hoopa or to just play rough it which has a good chance to ohko after rocks.

usually twaving hoopa is more than enough to shut it down, so yeah.

252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa-Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Klefki: 94-111 (29.6 - 35%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa-Unbound Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Klefki: 189-223 (59.6 - 70.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa-Unbound Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Klefki: 129-153 (40.6 - 48.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

8 Atk Klefki Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 246-290 (81.7 - 96.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
