Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Low Kick

Okay, so this set is quite situational. It's ideal to run this set on a rain team, or when rain is up, as then Swampert is able to outspeed Hoopa-U before it leaves a dent in Swampert with Focus Blast. An Adamant nature is used to maximise the damage output, though if rain isn't up, you might want to run a Jolly nature for the boost in Speed. Waterfall is Swampert's main STAB move, but the star of this set is Earthquake which OHKO's Hoopa, due to its mediocre Defense stat. The other moves are for other scenarios, be it against Ground-, Rock- or Fire-types, or bulky mons in general.

Swampert v Hoopa - 252+ Atk Mega Swampert Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hoopa Unbound: 301-355 (100 - 117.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Hoopa v Swampert - 252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Focus Blast vs. 104 HP / 0 SpD Mega Swampert: 221-261 (60.2 - 71.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (that's if it hits, heh)

Other Options: Aqua Jet > Waterfall to revenge-kill, and finish off weakened foes, although the extra damage is preferred over priority. Superpower > Low Kick for the extra damage, but the decrease in stats could be fatal.

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit / Low Kick

Yeah, so pretty much nothing safely switches in to this thing unless you're lucky enough to predict what move it's going to use, otherwise throw any of that hope out the car window. Weavile is certainly a solid offensive check, however. It resists or is immune to both of Hoopa's most spammable attacks, and can OHKO it in return with either Knock Off or Icicle Crash after any prior damage. Pursuit is also really nice to have, as it takes advantage a lot against a Choice locked Hoopa. Weavile can risk itself to try to switch in to Hoopa's STAB moves, but don't even look at the calcs for Focus Blast.
252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hoopa Unbound: 296-348 (98.3 - 115.6%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Weavile: 137-162 (48.7 - 57.6%) -- 94.9% chance to 2HKO

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SpD / 136 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock / Knock Off / Taunt
- Roost

This Gliscor set is guaranteed to switch in on Specs Hoopa-U once (though only barely), outspeeds it thanks to its Speed investment, and U-Turns on it. Although it's not 100% guaranteed to OHKO it from full health, it's very likely to, and even if it doesn't, it can just pivot to something that can take whatever move Hoopa-U locks itself into.

This is admittedly a pretty specific set, given that it's specifically designed to handle Hoopa-U, but it still acts as a decent pivot and SR setter for balance and bulky offense teams, and the fact that most Gliscor don't run enough speed for Hoopa-U means a lot of Hoopa-U users will stay in for the 2HKO, only to get smacked in the face by U-turn, so it's a pretty good way of dealing with it all things considered.

252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 120 SpD Gliscor: 262-309 (74 - 87.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Poison Heal
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Gliscor: 198-234 (55.9 - 66.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Poison Heal

0 Atk Gliscor U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hoopa Unbound: 292-348 (97 - 115.6%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

plz no hp ice ;_;

Additional info : If for some crazy reason, your opponent is using Specs Psychic Hoopa-U, Gliscor has a 68.8% chance to go down to that, assuming SR are up. If, god forbid, Hoopa-U is Modest, it has a 56.3% chance to go down to one Dark Pulse after rocks. It also takes a Hyperspace Fury from the banded set, can switch in on Scarf Hyperspace Fury okay-ish (25.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock), Scarf Dark Pulse not so much (98.8% chance to 2HKO with Stealth Rock, 12.5% without, and that's ignoring inevitable flinches), and deals with LO and AV sets relatively well. Overall, pretty solid all-around Hoopa-U check, or at least, about as solid as one can realistically hope.

Evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out

It can only switch in on Dark Pulse after Mega Evolving, but Return OHKOes Hoopa after Rocks or Fake Out.

252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Lopunny: 123-146 (45.3 - 53.8%) -- 44.1% chance to 2HKO

Audino @ Audinite
Ability: Healer
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 44 SpD
Bold Nature
- Thunder Wave / Calm Mind / Fire Blast
- Dazzling Gleam
- Wish
- Protect

Mega Audino is probably the closest to a defensive counter to Specs Hoopa-U. Even with Stealth Rocks on the field, Mega Audino is only 2HKO'd by the unreliable Focus Blast. Psyshock will force Mega Audino to Wish, but on the other hand it also gives Dark-Types on Audino's side a free switchin.

One of the best checks to Specs Hoopa-U for a few reasons:
- Unlike other checks it doesn't become useless if it mispredicts. Focus Blast will 2HKO, but it will ''only'' do 50%, which means you can switch in against Hoopa's Dark Pulse later in the match. Other defensive checks such as Umbreon and ChopleTTar are crippled for the rest of the match if they switch in on a Focus Blast.
- It has reliable recovery, it isn't weak to Stealth Rocks and it can't get trapped by Dugtrio, Magnezone or Pursuit, so it can stay healthy during the entire match.
- It only gets 2HKO'd by Focus Blast, which is only hits twice 49% of the time and also only has 8 PP, so in a 1v1 situation Wishtect can stall it out. If you run CM, you can even use Hoopa-U as setup fodder in a 1v1 situation.
- Unlike other defensive checks, it doesn't become useless against Trick Hoopa-U, because its mega stone can't be tricked away.

Calcs:
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 204+ Def Mega Audino: 153-180 (37.3 - 43.9%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 44 SpD Mega Audino: 94-111 (22.9 - 27%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 44 SpD Mega Audino: 189-223 (46 - 54.3%) -- 55.1% chance to 2HKO

0 SpA Mega Audino Dazzling Gleam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Hoopa Unbound: 116-138 (38.5 - 45.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Status: Check

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Flash Cannon
- U-Turn / Roost

Hydreigon can switch into any move Hoopa-U carries except Focus Blast, which OHKOes it. It then outspeeds and OHKO Hoopa-U with Draco Meteor if Stealth Rock is up. U-Turn guarantees the OHKO without hazards while Roost is for longevity.

252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa-Unbound Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Hydreigon: 524-618 (161.2 - 190.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa-Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Hydreigon: 131-154 (40.3 - 47.3%) -- 47.7% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0- Atk Life Orb Hydreigon U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 374-442 (124.2 - 146.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Hoopa-Unbound: 235-278 (78 - 92.3%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Mega Gardevoir as a check.

gardevoir-mega.gif

Gardevoir-Mega @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 16 HP / 8 Def / 232 SpA / 252 Spe or 132 Def / 124 SpA / 252 Spe (the spread I use)
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Will-O-Wisp

Gardevoir is a really underlooked pokemon in this metagame right now, being able to outspeed and do great damage to threats such as Rotom and Hoopa in this case. Mega Gardevoir itself, when mega evolved, is able to outspeed and always OHKO Hoopa with Hyper Voice:

124 SpA Pixilate Mega Gardevoir Hyper Voice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Hoopa Unbound: 338-398 (112.2 - 132.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Now for the spread I use. This spread is not specifically for Hoopa, although it is to take two Latios Psyshocks after Rocks as well as taking a Lopunny Return after Rocks as Lopunny is a popular partner for Hoopa, so you can easily threaten both members of the core by being able to revenge kill Lopunny while being able to outspeed and OHKO Hoopa:

252 Atk Mega Lopunny Return vs. 0 HP / 132 Def Mega Gardevoir: 204-241 (73.6 - 87%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Gardevoir even has the ability to switch in against Specs Hoopa (although obviosuly you should not switch in against Hoopa at all until you have scouted for the set that it is running, and switching in pre-mega is not recommended even against the Specs set, as you speed tie on the turn you mega evolve) so I would make sure that you mega evolve Gardevoir as quickly as possible to handle Hoopa better. But once you mega evolve Gardevoir, you can actually switch into the Specs set once, as Hoopa does not OHKO with any of its moves:

252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Gardevoir: 186-219 (67.1 - 79%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa Unbound Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 132 Def Mega Gardevoir: 142-168 (51.2 - 60.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO afer Stealth Rock

Again, this is only for the Specs set, as Gardevoir does not switch in well into any of Hoopa's other sets, although it can still outspeed and OHKO all of them save for the uncommon Scarf or AV (if anyone still uses AV anymore, lol) sets. The EV spread you use is up to you, as I like my spread for the defensive benchmarks listed above while still retaining a lot of power due to Gardevoir's great 165 Special Attack stat, but most will prefer to stick to the standard EV spread which is cool. But all in all, Mega Gardevoir is a great pokemon that can handle Hoopa itself along with being able to be a huge menace to the VoltTurn teams that Hoopa commonly finds itself on. Use this mon more, it's a great pokemon in the meta right now.

I was playing around with AV Esca the other day, and I greatly prefer this EV spread: 248 HP, 56 Atk, 204 SpD Adamant. With this spread, you have higher HP for greater overall bulk, and it is only slightly weaker than your spread, but it is even better at taking Specs Hoopa hits, avoiding the 2HKO from any of its moves after Rocks pretty much all of the time (unless you get really unlucky 0.4% of the time n_n):

Not much explaining needed here, Hoopa is forced out every single time Bee comes in, due to its awful defence stat in addition to its 4x weakness to bug typing. Mega Bee can come in after a mon has been lost or even on an expected Focus Blast, as Beedrill has a 4x resistance to fighting and a respectable special defence stat.
