I remember when I had seen the Super Mario 64 speed run, many of my not-as-video-game-addicted-as-I-am friends were like "OMFG HE BEAT THE GAME SO FAST LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL THAT'S SO KEWL!"

How did you do that? You need to restore your PP eventually.
Leppa Berries restore PP? Never knew.
*facepalm* I forgot about Struggle. My bad. I might try that - beat the game with six Linoone and use Pickup to nick items. I need to go through the game anyway, considering that I restarted, so it's not that bad of an idea.
I beat metal gear solid with big boss ranking (extreme diffculty, never die, never get spotted except when it's forced, never even get a guard curious, don't kill anyone other than bosses, no rations, and probably some other things I can't remember, all in under three hours).
I've also finished OoT with 4 hearts, instinctively taking the container after the water temple, then saving before realizing what I did.
I'm going to check through my old games for other cool stuff, as I'm a real hardcore gamer, and I probably have a bunch of speed runs and 100% complete games.

perhaps, really there is no way you can really tell.
If it's an "official" tool assisted run, they say it in the very beginning.
I hate to digress too far, but one tool assisted run had someone beating the Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past (SNES) in about 5-8 minutes IIRC LOL!
