[OVERVIEW]

Virizion's niche in NU is being a decent Swords Dance sweeper and wallbreaker thanks to its good offensive typing, Speed tier, and large repertoire of good coverage moves. Virizion also has excellent special bulk that it can use to set up on common threats in the tier like Vaporeon and Rotom-C and let it answer +2 Blastoise in an emergency. Despite all of this, Virizion is outpsed and dealt with by other common Pokemon in the tier like Talonflame, Salazzle, and Tauros. Virizion also suffers from four-moveslot syndrome, since it loses to Xatu if it's not carrying Stone Edge or Dragalge if it's not carrying Zen Headbutt. It additionally always loses to Celebi. Lastly, it is outclassed by other Swords Dance sweepers like Drapion, which can deal with Sylveon better thanks to its Poison-type STAB moves and tank physical hits better.

Stone Edge nails Talonflame and Salazzle for massive damage while also hitting Mantine, Arcanine, and Xatu super effectively. Alternatively, Zen Headbutt allows Virizion to deal with common Poison-types that it would otherwise struggle with like Vileplume, Toxicroak, and Dragalge. Lum Berry is the go-to item to switch into threats like Vaporeon and Rotom-C without having to fear a Scald burn or Will-O-Wisp, respectively. However, Life Orb can be used to make up for Virizion's somewhat lacking Attack stat and guarantee OHKOs on Dragalge and specially defensive Bronzong after one Swords Dance boost.

Clerical support from a partner like Vaporeon or Diancie is essential for Virizion, especially if using Life Orb, since it will constantly switch into opposing Scalds and Will-O-Wisps from opposing Vaporeon and non-Choice Scarf Rotom-C. Decidueye, Dhelmise, and Celebi check Virizion with their typing, so teammates like Talonflame, Arcanine, Guzzlord, and Swords Dance Drapion are appreciated for their ability to check them back. In return, Virizion checks Water-types that all of these Pokemon struggle with. Poison-types like Dragalge, Garbodor, and Toxicroak can easily switch into Virizion if it's not carrying Zen Headbutt; therefore, a partner like offensive Starmie, Xatu, or Golurk is appreciated, while defensive Ground-types like Mudsdale and Quagsire make for worthwhile options as switch-ins to Poison-types. Flying-types like Ninjask and Talonflame easily pressure Virizion, so having a teammate like Diancie or Iron Defense Bronzong to eat up their hits is essential. Both options also provide much-needed Stealth Rock support to chip foes down for Virizion.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
====

Having Virizion run no item for its Swords Dance set can be beneficial to make it a good Poltergeist switch-in from users of it like Decidueye and Golurk. However, you lose out on the extra attacking power that Life Orb provides, which Virizion wants to make up for its lackluster Attack stat. Virizion can use a special attacking set with Calm Mind and moves like Giga Drain, Focus Blast, and Air Slash so it won't worry about a burn from Scald or Will-O-Wisp; Air Slash also targets unsuspecting opposing Grass-types. But, due to the unreliable accuracy of Focus Blast, the Swords Dance set is far better for its accurate moves and coverage. Choice Scarf Virizion can potentially work as a nice way to catch Shell Smash Blastoise and Ninjask off guard. Sacred Sword is an alternative to Close Combat to better deal with Iron Defense Bronzong. Similarly, Megahorn OHKOes Celebi and hits opposing Grass-types as well; however, using it leaves Virizion open to Poison- and Flying-types.

Checks and Counters
====

**Poison-types**: Virizion is walled by most Poison-types if it isn't carrying Zen Headbutt; even if it is, threats like Salazzle revenge kill it, while Vileplume and Garbodor both avoid 2HKOs.

**Flying-types**: Ninjask and Talonflame offensively pressure, outspeed, and OHKO Virizion with their respective Flying-type STAB attacks. Neither one can switch into Stone Edge, however.

**Grass-types**: Celebi, Dhelmise, and Decidueye all either resist or are immune to Virizion's STAB moves and can shrug off its coverage moves.

**Faster Threats**: Naturally faster Pokemon like Tauros, Starmie, and Salazzle easily feast on Virizion with their respective STAB moves.

**Physical Walls**: Walls like Xatu, Arcanine, and Sylveon prevent Virizion from cleaning late-game due to their typing. Xatu, however, only works as a check if Virizion is carrying Zen Headbutt.

Virizion also has excellent special bulk that it can use to switch in on common threats in the tier like Vaporeon and Choice Scarf Rotom-C. [Add Blastoise also imo, it lives a +2 Ice beam from full HP] Despite all of this, Virizion finds itself offensively pressured by other common Pokemon in the tier like Talonflame, Salazzle, and Ninjask; all of which naturally outspeed it. [I wouldn't say Ninjask is common.] Without help from entry hazards, Virizion struggles to OHKO threats to it like Sylveon even after one Swords Dance boost. [This feels really specific. You also kinda said this in the next line about competition. I think a Checks & Counters mention is warranted also] Lastly, it is outclassed by other Swords Dance sweepers like Drapion, which can deal with Sylveon better thanks to its Poison STAB moves, and tanks physical hits better.

Stone Edge nails Talonflame and Salazzle for massive damage while also hitting Mantine and Arcanine for super effective damage. [Xatu should 100% be mentioned here IMO since it resists its other attacks. Without Edge, it's just completely walled] Alternatively, Zen Headbutt allows Virizion to deal with common Poison-types that it struggles with like Vileplume, Toxicroak, and Dragalge. Life Orb is the recommended item to make up for Virizion's somewhat lacking Attack stat. However, Lum Berry can be used so that it can switch into threats like Vaporeon and Rotom-C without having to fear a Scald burn or a Will-O-Wisp as much. [Swap]

Clerical support from a partner like Vaporeon is essential for Virizion since it will constantly switch into opposing Scalds and Will-O-Wisps from opposing Vaporeon and non-Choice Scarf Rotom-C. Talonflame is a great partner to pair with Virizion to check foes that Virizion can't like Dhelmise, Decidueye, and Vileplume. [All of these examples are Grass-types, did you mean to do this? If so, I'd categorize them. Arcanine also helps with Grass-types as well and can pivot Viri in with Teleport.] Talonflame can bring in Virizion safely via U-turn on threats like Vaporeon and Diancie. [I'd say something like "Talonflame and Arcanine can position Virizion in on threats like x and y that may try switching into it] Poison-types like Dragalge, Garbodor, and the aforementioned Vileplume can easily switch into Virizion if it's not carrying Zen Headbutt. Therefore, a partner like Analytic offensive Starmie, Xatu, or Swords Dance Drapion are appreciated. Drapion is notable since it can also handle Dhelmise and Decidueye for Virizion. [Group this in the examples of Grass-types earlier so you aren't making an entire sentence for Drapion] Flying-types like Ninjask and Talonflame easily pressure Virizion, so having a teammate like Copperajah or Diancie to eat up their hits is essential. Both options provide much-needed Stealth Rock support to chip foes down for Virizion. [Unsure about the Copperajah. If you don't say "both options can provide" Stealth Rock support, then I assume that the Copperajah is just using one set: Stealth Rock. its Stealth Rock set doesn't usually use Stone Edge and I find it hard to picture Copperajah beating Talonflame. Bronzong pressures Talonflame more especially with Iron Defense + Toxic. Many teams are using Talonflame as there Fighting-type check and it usually trys to burn the Bronzong. In return, Bronzong, hits it with Toxic and then Virizion comes in to pressure the Vaporeon.]

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
====

Running a special attacking set with Calm Mind and moves like Giga Drain, Focus Blast, and Air Slash is something Virizion can do in addition to not having to worry about burns from Scald or Will-O-Wisp. [Mention that Air Slash targets opposing Grass-types] A mixed attacking set can also work to catch opponents off-guard by picking off one a foe with an unexpected move. [I'd elaborate on this a bit. CM + Stone Edge is really good as it invites Talonflame.]

[I would add Itemless as the first sentence. It helps a lot vs Poltergeist Decidueye and Golurk for many teams. At the end, you can add Choice Scarf Virizion as a lure for stuff like +2 Blastoise/Ninjask/etc]
[Leaf Storm + Life Orb hits like a truck also.]

Checks and Counters
====

**Poison-types**: Vileplume, Salazzle, and Dragalge don't really fear Virizion much aside from its coverage moves in Stone Edge and Zen Headbutt which they won't switch into freely.

**Flying-types**: Ninjask and Talonflame offensively pressure, outspeed, and OHKO Virizion with their respective Flying STAB. [Mention they fear switching into Stone Edge.]

**Faster threats**: Naturally faster Pokemon like Tauros, Starmie, and Aerodactyl easily feast on Virizion with their respective STAB moves.

Sacred Sword [Weaker than Close Combat, but it can be useful in certain Iron Defense or Acid Armor matchups (Bronzong, most notably). Might be worth adding.]

Megahorn [specifically pops Celebi when none of its other moves will, while remaining a good neutral move vs other Grass-types like Vileplume or Decidueye; worse matchup vs Poisons and Flyings though]

It's safer to say that Viriz sets up on them, and then making the Blastoise switch-in an added bonus to highlight its bulk). Despite all of this, Virizion finds itself offensively pressured by other common Pokemon in the tier like Talonflame, Salazzle, and Tauros; all of which naturally outspeed it. (Added specific examples of the power)

Clerical support from a partner like Vaporeon and Diancie (good partner as a flying + fire switchin) is essential for Virizion, since it will constantly switch into opposing Scalds and Will-O-Wisps from opposing Vaporeon and non-Choice Scarf Rotom-C. Talonflame is a great partner to pair with Virizion to check Grass-types that Virizion can't, like Dhelmise, Celebi, and Vileplume. Guzzlord and Swords Dance Drapion are other notable partners since they can also handle Dhelmise and Decidueye for Virizion. (Talonflame + Arcanine check Dhel and Decidueye, but the specially offensive Grasses dent with Psychic / Sludge. Also, you make the same point in the 4th sentence about fires checking grasses as you do with the second second sentence with Talonflame. Why? Rewrite this portion to say that the Dark-types and bulky Fire-types counter Decidueye and Dhelmise and pressure Celebi for Virizion, then write what Viriz does in return; this portion only needs to be about 2 sentences)Poison-types like Dragalge, Garbodor, and Weezing Toxicroak can easily switch into Virizion if it's not carrying Zen Headbutt. Therefore, a partner like offensive Starmie, Xatu, or Golurk are appreciated, while defensive Ground-types like Mudsdale and Quagsire make for worthwhile switch-ins to Poison-types. (Good offensive teammates, but walls could be mentioned here too if Viriz needs to switch out vs the Poison-types) Flying-types like Ninjask and Talonflame easily pressure Virizion, so having a teammate like Diancie or Iron Defense Bronzong to eat up their hits is essential. Both options provide much-needed Stealth Rock support to chip foes down for Virizion.

(Ive never seen this + talon can still switch into CM and click BB. I get that maybe a second time you'd catch talon off guard but that's a big stretch + devalues the necessary special coverage on Viriz.) Choice Scarf Virizion can potentially work as a nice way to catch Shell Smash Blastoise and Ninjask off-guard. Sacred Sword is an alternative to Close Combat to better deal with Iron Defense Bronzong. **Poison-types**: Vileplume, Salazzle, and Dragalge don't really fear Virizion much aside from its coverage moves in Stone Edge and Zen Headbutt which they won't switch into freely. (Vileplume still tanks Zen Headbutt and follows with sap + fishes for effect spore status + sludge bomb. You should rewrite this portion just to say Virizion is walled by most Poison-types if it lacks Zen Headbutt, and even with it, Salazzle revenge kills while Vileplume + Garbodor avoid 2HKOs)

**Flying-types**: Ninjask and Talonflame offensively pressure, outspeed, and OHKO Virizion with their respective Flying STAB attacks. Neither one will switch into Stone Edge, however.

**Sylveon**: Sylveon resists Close Combat and isn't really fazed by Leaf Blade. Not to mention that it shrugs off any coverage move that Virizion has. (Change this point to Physical Walls and include the likes of Xatu and Arcanine. You can mention that Xatu only works as a counter if Virizion opts for Zen Headbutt over Stone Edge)

QC 2/2. The Fire-type point you have here is convoluted and not even entirely accurate given how Talonflame and Arcanine cannot afford to switch into Psychic and Sludge Bomb multiple times. You also reiterated the Talonflame support line when mentioning Arcanine later In analyses, its best to be concise and accurate. You did a good job listing Virizion's checks and counters, but the way you wrote how its supportive teammates deal with these threats could have been better; think back to when you used Virizion in game and how you played with it and around its checks. Keep these tips in mind when writing new analyses!

Virizion also has imperfect coverage -> also suffers from four-moveslot syndrome (meh, you can choose to keep your original wording or change it to what dex changed it to, both wordings are fine), (AC) since it loses to Xatu if it's not carrying Stone Edge or (remove comma) Dragalge if it's not carrying Zen Headbutt. (Comma->Period) and-> It additionally always loses to Celebi. (I made those last few changes to sort of separate the checks that require scouting from the check that does not) Lastly, it is outclassed by other Swords Dance sweepers like Drapion, which can deal with Sylveon better thanks to its Poison-type STAB moves (remove comma) (wrong color lol) and tanks->can tank physical hits better.

Stone Edge nails Talonflame and Salazzle for massive damage while also hitting Mantine, Arcanine, and Xatu for super effective damage->effectively (avoids repeating "damage"). Alternatively, Zen Headbutt allows Virizion to deal with common Poison-types that it would otherwise struggles->struggle with like Vileplume, Toxicroak, and Dragalge. Lum Berry is the go-to item which that can be used so that it can->is used to switch into threats like Vaporeon and Rotom-C without having to fear a Scald burn or a Will-O-Wisp, respectively (add comma) as much. However, Life Orb can be used to make up for Virizion's somewhat lacking Attack stat and guarantee OHKOes-> OHKOs on against Dragalge and specially defensive Bronzong after one Swords Dance boost.

Clerical support from a partner like Vaporeon and->or Diancie is essential for Virizion, since it will constantly switch into opposing Scalds and Will-O-Wisps from opposing Vaporeon and non-Choice Scarf Rotom-C. Decidueye, Dhelmise, and Celebi check Virizion with their typing, (period->comma) so Teammates->teammates like Talonflame, Arcanine, Guzzlord, and Swords Dance Drapion can check them right back-> are appreciated for their ability to check them back. In return, Virizion checks Water-types that all of these teammates->Pokemon struggle with. Poison-types like Dragalge, Garbodor, and Toxicroak can easily switch into Virizion if it's not carrying Zen Headbutt; (period->semicolon and uncapitalize therefore) therefore, a partner like offensive Starmie, Xatu, or Golurk are->is appreciated, while defensive Ground-types like Mudsdale and Quagsire make for worthwhile options as switch-ins to Poison-types. Flying-types like Ninjask and Talonflame easily pressure Virizion, so having a teammate like Diancie or Iron Defense Bronzong to eat up their hits is essential. Both options also provide much-needed Stealth Rock support to chip foes down for Virizion.

Having Virizion run no item for its Swords Dance set can be beneficial to make it a good Poltergeist switch-in from users of it like Decidueye and Golurk. (probably add a little blurb here saying what you lose for not running an item) (agreed) Running a special attacking set with Calm Mind and moves like Giga Drain, Focus Blast, and Air Slash is something Virizion can do in addition to not having to worry about a burns from Scald or Will-O-Wisp; Air Slash also targets unsuspecting opposing Grass-types. (why is this not the main set? explain why SD is better) (agreed also) Choice Scarf Virizion can potentially work as a nice way to catch Shell Smash Blastoise and Ninjask off-guard. Sacred Sword is an alternative to Close Combat to better deal with Iron Defense Bronzong. Similarly, Megahorn OHKOes Celebi and hits opposing Grass-types as well; (comma -> semicolon) however, using it leaves it open to Poison- and Flying-types.

(except for the last sentence in other options, you need to give reasons why they are in other options and are not in the main sets. doesn't have to be too big, but one per alternate option is usually good)

Checks and Counters
====

**Poison-types**: Virizion is walled by most Poison-types if it isn't carrying Zen Headbutt; even if it is, threats like Salazzle revenge kills Virizion, (AC) while Vileplume +->and Garbodor both avoid 2HKOs.

**Flying-types**: Ninjask and Talonflame offensively pressure, outspeed, and OHKO Virizion with their respective Flying-type STAB attacks. Neither one will->can switch into Stone Edge, however.

**Grass-types**: Celebi, Dhelmise, and Decidueye all either resist or are immune to Virizion's STAB moves and can shrug off its coverage moves, too.

[OVERVIEW]

Virizion's niche in the NU metagame is serving as being a decent Swords Dance sweeper and wallbreaker thanks to its good offensive typing, Speed tier, and a large repertoire of good coverage moves at its disposal. Virizion also has excellent special bulk that it can use to set up on common threats in the tier like Vaporeon and Rotom-C (RP) Virizion can also switch into Blastoise because it survives a +2 Ice Beam from full HP and let it answer +2 Blastoise in an emergency. Despite all of this, Virizion finds itself offensively pressured is outsped and dealt with by other common Pokemon in the tier like Talonflame, Salazzle, and Tauros, all of which naturally outspeed it. Virizion also suffers from four-moveslot syndrome, since it loses to Xatu if it's not carrying Stone Edge or Dragalge if it's not carrying Zen Headbutt. It additionally always loses to Celebi. Having Virizion run no item for its Swords Dance set can be beneficial to make it a good Poltergeist switch-in from users of it like Decidueye and Golurk. However, you lose out on the extra attacking power that Life Orb provides,(AC) which Virizion could use wants to make up for its lackluster Attack stat. Running Virizion can use a special attacking set with Calm Mind and moves like Giga Drain, Focus Blast, and Air Slash is something Virizion can do in addition to not having to so it won't worry about a burn from Scald or Will-O-Wisp; Air Slash also targets unsuspecting opposing Grass-types. But,(AC) due to the unreliable accuracy of Focus Blast, the Swords Dance set is far better for its accurate moves and coverage. Choice Scarf Virizion can potentially work as a nice way to catch Shell Smash Blastoise and Ninjask off guard(RH). Sacred Sword is an alternative to Close Combat to better deal with Iron Defense Bronzong. Similarly, Megahorn OHKOes Celebi and hits opposing Grass-types as well; however, using it leaves it Virizion open to Poison- and Flying-types.
