skyfox500 sent out Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Ayashi sent out Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
skyfox500: good luck
Ayashi: thanks you too :D

I don’t think there’s anything major Jirachi can do to me, so I’ll just hypnosis
as usual.

Ayashi switched in Machamp (lvl 100 Machamp ?).
Gengar used Hypnosis.
Machamp fell asleep!
---
Machamp… I don’t remember much about its moves, but it’s a physical attacker,
so I’ll switch to Swampert to set up Stealth Rock while he sleeps or switches.

skyfox500 switched in Swampert (lvl 100 Swampert ?).
Machamp is fast asleep!
Machamp used Sleep Talk.
Machamp used Dynamicpunch.
Swampert lost 36% of its health.
Swampert became confused!
---
So his Machamp’s a sleep-talker. From dynamic punch, it probably has No Guard
over Guts. Not important right now, but it may come into play a bit later.
Anyway, I try to wait out the confusion.

Ayashi switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Swampert is confused!
It hurt itself in its confusion!
Swampert lost 7% of its health.
---
He’ll probably try to Hypnosis me. Being a bit bulky, Swampert
has a decent chance of the surviving the sleep, so I’ll keep him
in and keep trying to get Stealth Rock up.

Gengar used Hypnosis.
Gengar's attack missed!
Swampert is confused!
It hurt itself in its confusion!
Swampert lost 8% of its health.
---
Gengar used Hypnosis.
Gengar's attack missed!
Swampert snapped out of confusion!
Swampert used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!
---
Gengar used Hypnosis.
Swampert fell asleep!
Swampert is fast asleep!
---
Thanks to Hypnosis missing twice, I got stealth rocks up. I don’t know
what else his Gengar does yet, so I’ll just see if I can wait out the sleep.

Gengar used Substitute.
Gengar lost 25% of its health.
Gengar made a substitute!
Swampert woke up!
Swampert used Surf.
The substitute took damage for Gengar!
Gengar's substitute faded!
---
Substitute. I haven’t seen a Gengar use that before. I’ll
keep Surfing to either break another Substitute, or hit whatever
else he might switch in.

Gengar used Hypnosis.
Gengar's attack missed!
Swampert used Surf.
Gengar lost 55% of its health.
---
Ayashi switched in Machamp (lvl 100 Machamp ?).
Pointed stones dug into Machamp.
Machamp lost 6% of its health.
Swampert used Surf.
Machamp lost 32% of its health.
---
Ayashi switched in Salamence (lvl 100 Salamence ?).
Salamence's intimidate cut Swampert's attack!
Pointed stones dug into Salamence.
Salamence lost 25% of its health.
Swampert used Surf.
It's not very effective...
Salamence lost 20% of its health.
Swampert's leftovers restored its health a little!
Swampert restored 1% of its health.

---
I’m back at full health from Leftovers, and Salamence comes in.
Most Mence’s I’ve seen have been physical, but also carry Draco Meteor.
If I switch to Metagross, he might earthquake me, so I’ll keep
Swampert in and see if he can survive to Ice Beam it…

Salamence used Draco Meteor.
Swampert lost 99% of its health.
Salamence's special attack was harshly lowered.
Salamence lost 10% of its health.
Swampert used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Salamence lost 45% of its health.
Ayashi's Salamence fainted.
(6-5)
---
And I survive by 1% to KO it. Wow. I guess those EV’s in health actually
do make a difference. You’ve done a good job, Swampert.

Ayashi switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Pointed stones dug into Gengar.
Gengar lost 12% of its health.
Gengar used Shadow Ball.
Swampert lost 7% of its health.
skyfox500's Swampert fainted.
(5-5)
---
With Swampert down, I’ll bring out my Deoxys-e to outspeed
and hopefully KO his Gengar.

skyfox500 switched in Deoxys-e (lvl 100 Deoxys-e).
Deoxys-e is exerting its pressure!
Ayashi switched in Magnezone (lvl 100 Magnezone).
Pointed stones dug into Magnezone.
Magnezone lost 6% of its health.
Deoxys-e used Psychic.
It's not very effective...
Magnezone lost 24% of its health.
---
Magnezone will probably try to Thunderbolt me. I don’t want to
reveal my Garchomp yet, and I completely forget about Metagross here, so
I see if Superpower will KO.

Deoxys-e used Superpower.
It's super effective!
Magnezone lost 65% of its health.
Deoxys-e's attack was lowered.
Deoxys-e's defence was lowered.
Magnezone used Thunderbolt.
Deoxys-e lost 79% of its health.
---
I fail to KO by 11%, but Deoxys survives the thunderbolt. I’ll superpower
again to bring it down. If he switches Gengar in, I’ll KO it with Psychic,
since I know that it’s not Scarfed.

Deoxys-e used Superpower.
It's super effective!
Magnezone lost 18% of its health.
Ayashi's Magnezone fainted.
(5-4)
Deoxys-e's attack was lowered.
Deoxys-e's defence was lowered.
---
His Magnezone faints, but it cripples my Deoxys before I took it down.
I’ll just hit whatever he brings in as hard as I can.

Ayashi switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Deoxys-e used Shadow Ball.
Jirachi lost 20% of its health.
Jirachi used Body Slam.
Deoxys-e lost 21% of its health.
skyfox500's Deoxys-e fainted.
(4-4)
---
skyfox500 switched in Metagross (lvl 100 Metagross).

Earthquake would do the most damage if Jirachi stays in, but I don’t
want him bringing Gengar back in to Hypnosis me, so I choose
HP Fire to see what he does, and hit Jirachi or whatever comes in.

Jirachi used U-turn.
Metagross lost 16% of its health.
Ayashi switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Pointed stones dug into Gengar.
Gengar lost 12% of its health.
Metagross used Hidden Power.
Gengar lost 15% of its health.
Ayashi's Gengar fainted.
(4-3)
---
And that’s just what he tries to do, but his Gengar goes down.

Ayashi switched in Machamp (lvl 100 Machamp ?).

I don’t what else it has besides Sleep Talk and D-punch, but
it’ll wake up soon, and fearing an earthquake I switch back to Gengar.

Pointed stones dug into Machamp.
Machamp lost 6% of its health.
skyfox500 switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Machamp woke up!
Machamp used Dynamicpunch.
It doesn't affect Gengar...
---
With No Guard probably in play, I can safely Hypnosis to put him
back to sleep.

Gengar used Hypnosis.
Machamp fell asleep!
Machamp is fast asleep!
---
With Machamp’s moves at the mercy of Sleep Talk again, I go
on the offensive.

Gengar used Thunderbolt.
Machamp lost 32% of its health.
Machamp woke up!
Machamp used Sleep Talk.
But it failed!
---
He wakes up after one turn, but I continue attacking
rather than putting it back to sleep.

Gengar used Thunderbolt.
Machamp lost 32% of its health.
Machamp used Sleep Talk.
But it failed!
---
I guess he thought I’d Hypnosis again. In retrospect, If had been using
Shadow Ball over Thunderbolt, I might have KO’d it right then.

Ayashi switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Gengar used Thunderbolt.
Jirachi lost 26% of its health.
---
And he brings Jirachi back in. I’ll see if Shadow Ball can KO before his expected Wish activates.

Gengar used Shadow Ball.
Jirachi lost 35% of its health.
Jirachi used Wish.
Jirachi made a wish!
---
I hit Shadow Ball again and hope he doesn’t have protect.

Gengar used Shadow Ball.
Jirachi lost 25% of its health.
Ayashi's Jirachi fainted.
(4-2)
---
Ayashi switched in Garchomp (lvl 100 Garchomp ?).
Pointed stones dug into Garchomp.
Garchomp lost 6% of its health.

Most Garchomp I’ve faced run Choice Band/Scarf Outrage.
I don’t want to lose my Gengar yet if it’s scarfed, so I bring in
Metagross who can usually take a couple hits from Outrage.

skyfox500 switched in Metagross (lvl 100 Metagross).
Garchomp used Swords Dance.
Garchomp's attack was sharply raised.
---
I guess his Garchomp isn’t choiced. He’ll either earthquake now,
or Dragon Claw/Outrage expecting me to switch. All he has left at this point
are his Garchomp and a weakened Machamp. If he uses Outrage,
I’ll survive and hit him with Meteor Mash to weaken him.

Garchomp used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Metagross lost 84% of its health.
skyfox500's Metagross fainted.
(3-2)
---
R.I.P., Metagross. Now that I know Garchomp’s not
scarfed though, I think I can win this.
With my free switch in, I sacrifice Starmie to wear him down a little.

skyfox500 switched in Starmie (lvl 100 Starmie).
Starmie used Surf.
Garchomp lost 42% of its health.
Garchomp used Outrage.
Garchomp went on a rampage!
Starmie lost 100% of its health.
skyfox500's Starmie fainted.
(2-2)
---
If I ran Ice Beam over Thunderbolt, I might have been able to KO it.
Anyway, now that I know he’s weakened enough and outspeeded by
Gengar, I bring my Gengar in to take Garchomp down with him.

skyfox500 switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Gengar used Explosion.
Garchomp lost 52% of its health.
Ayashi's Garchomp fainted.
(2-1)
skyfox500's Gengar fainted.
(1-1)
---
skyfox500 switched in Garchomp (lvl 100 Garchomp ?).
Ayashi switched in Machamp (lvl 100 Machamp ?).
Pointed stones dug into Machamp.
Machamp lost 6% of its health.
Garchomp used Earthquake.
Machamp lost 16% of its health.
Ayashi's Machamp fainted.
(1-0)
skyfox500 wins!
Ayashi: gg
skyfox500: good game
Ayashi has left the room.

Pros:
My Gengar for KOing Jirachi, making Machamp pretty much useless except for Sleep Clause fodder, and blowing up to take down Garchomp.

Swampert for surviving Draco Meteor by 1%.

Ayashi’s Gengar for missing with Hypnosis twice in a row.

Ayashi for being a good opponent.

Cons:
Not KO’ing his Machamp with Shadow Ball when I had the chance.

Losing Metagross to earthquake.

Both sides consistently waking up from sleep after one turn (minor hax).

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know any constructive criticism you have.

A fine warstory. Good job.

If anything, though, it serves as a reminder as to why the Standard ladder doesn't do much for me.

Yay, another warmachine story, and this one is actually pretty solid.

The pokemon used were very standard but thats not a bad thing per-say. As for the battle, there was a good amount of prediction and my only real gripe is that there was a little more hax than I'd like to see.

Overall it's pretty good (especially for a first try), I approve.

Yeah take off the hax alright k thx :P. I enjoyed the read especially since I was a part of it hehe... Was interesting to see the perspective you gave to it. It was a good match and basically relived it in my head from reading this. I look forward to reading your future war stories.

I guess you haven't faced many Garchomp. A couple things kinda ruined this for me. First, way too much hax surrounding the battle between Swampert and Gengar, when if he'd actually had you sleep after the first two missing, his Salamence would still have been alive. Second, the lack of knowledge about the metagame- namely that you were surprised when the Swords Dance variant popped up... and that you thought Ice Beam would have KO'd. Most Garchomp nowadays are Swords Dance variants carrying Yache Berry for that specific purpose.

There was no "minor" hax here. By all accounts, you should have gotten absolutely destroyed by that Sub Gengar. The fact that Hypnosis missed twice and then you managed to wake up after one turn won you the game plain and simple.

ugh, way too much hax around swampert in general. first you basically 1-turn sleeped every time, setting sr and hurting a bunch of guys (gengar and machamp). then the rng saved your ass from death by mixmence, costing him a third pokemon for good. when in reality, he should have been up a pokemon without sr set at all, not down a pokemon with sr up and two guys taking hefty damage. that's pretty big imo, especially with something as threatening as mixmence going down the tube for nothing when in reality it should have been at 90% health.
