Warstory: Revenge of the Slug

ZOMG, despite my hatred towards all Shoddy stories is one is most cool because it finally shows that Gastrodon isn't just collection fodder but actually usable competitively. This stories has made me want to train and use one now.

I think some of you guys are missing the point. You CAN create a counter/mirror coat Swampert, but it's Recover that makes that set work on Gastrodon. Swampert has much better things to do.

Yes we're aware of that but can't we let Gastrodon have it's 15 minutes of fame before destorying it?

Yes we're aware of that but can't we at least let the little slug creaute have it's 15 minutes of fame before destorying it, beside like you said Swampert has better things to do then be a false Wobby.
Is it just me or did that post contridict itself?

Or maybe I'm going crazy, probably the latter.

Umm, I think you're misinterpreting my post. I'm pointing out that Gastrodon does this set better than Swampert ever could. Because it learns recover.
Oh snap...I thought you was ruining Gastrodon's happiness by pointing out that Swampert could have better at that. I feel silly now, sorry for what I said and for the misunderstandment.

Although he's not a bad E4 pokemon, I still won't be using Gastrodon on a competitive team anytime soon, lol, but good job making it work out well on a team without having it outclassed by Swampert like I expected.

I concur that this was a very interesting war story, moreso than butterfree/charizard antics at any rate. Power to the invertebrates, I say.

Grass Knot, for reference, is a puny 60 BP against Gastrodon; easily survivable.

Finally... a moveset for Gastrodon I like. All the movesets in the official Analysis (for once) almost seems disappinting and much more gimmicky compared to a simple setup like yours. Surf/Counter/Mirror Coat/Recover @ Leftovers. Bold, 252 Def EVs... where'd you sink the rest? 252 SDef? That would seem logical.

No full HP seems more logical.

The more HP, the more damage, and if you think ur in the opponent killing range, just switch for wall.

Good game anyway, and your opponent should have seen the focus sash coming from jolteon and you should have seen ice shard from donphan. But you've already pointed out.
