What happened to Gallade?

Medicham doesn't even need CC to kick ass. Rockslide and Hi Jump Kick don't exactly hold Medicham back.

Scarfcham is amazing (especially as lead), but Medicham can actually pull off other sets well. It's the game's scariest Choice Bander, with the unique ability to 2HKO Cresselia with Double-Edge. It gets Baton Pass to "keep chains alive"; in BP teams an Agility passed to a Life Orb Cham is quite good, especially since you can keep Passing around.

Also, Gallade's too slow to sweep, has to Egg for Will-o-wisp, has decent but not quite good enough Defenses, and less attack and speed than Medicham. It's basically the "jack of all trades, master of none" everyone's been talking about. But I have to agree, Gallade is a much cooler wallkiller than MixApe.

I'd rather be a jack of all trades, than only have one, a very predictable one at that.

Medicham dies when it uses DE on Cressy. Plus, Gallade and cham have the same speed, so if Gallade is to slow to slow to sweep, so is cham. If HJK misses, cham is screwed, as it takes a lot of recoil, like using DE against Cressy. Also, Gallade has SD and Night Slash, allowing him to defeat Cress without killing itself.

The one thing Cham has over Gallade is higher attack. Gallade has the better movepool and better stats.

What's the problem with WoW being an egg move? Psycho Cut is an egg move on Cham. Egg moves don't hold a poke back. o_O

Medicham CANNOT 2HKO Bold Max HP/Def Cresselia with Double-Edge, even with Stealth Rock. It does a max of 44.59%, which means if it switches in, you can do 44.59% + 12.50% which is 57.09%. Cresselia now has 42.91% health left, but after leftovers, it has 49.16%. I mean I guess if Sandstorm is in play, it has a very slight chance of 2HKOing, but I wouldn't count on it 99% of the time.

Anyways, leading with Scarfcham with the elemental punches is quite powerful. Scarfcham always OHKO's Modest 6HP/0Def Salamence (after Intimidate) and Gliscor with Ice Punch, and OHKO's Adamant 6HP/0Def Gyarados with Thunder Punch after Intimidate, and HJK 2HKO's Impish Max HP/Max Def Skarmory despite having lower BP. Fake Out is also a very good option for taking out weakened Infernape/Weavile/Ninjask etc.

I'v ejust started using Shoddy and I've got double status Gallade (C Combat,Night Slash,Hypnosis,Will-o-wisp) on my team at the moment, and he's been pretty damn useful. He's great to switch in on Blissey, and then Hypnosis on the switch. Only thing I've found is that people generally assume that he's double status and don't switch when hypnotised, meaning w-o-w has seen little usage, so I was thinking of switching it for swords dance. Mine swept the last four of one team earlier today as well.

I've got a gallade thats saved my ass to many times to count. The thing with gallade is that it's tricky to use. I use single status hypnosis just to trick people. Plus the sp def is a nice touch

Gallade is hard to play against with so good supportive movepools while a medicham is pretty standard with those 4 movesets.

Gallade isn't a sweeper, and is best used as a support pokemon instead IMO. Though I think the reason that Gallade isn't used very much is because he doesn't exactly fit one specific niche like other pokemon.

Like you said, Gallade is a strong physical attacker, can inflict every status except poison, and can take special hits fairly well. This, I think, is the reason he isn't used much anymore. There are pokemon who do each of those things better than Gallade, so people use them instead. This happens qutie a bit with pokemon like Gallade. Jack of all trades, master of none.

I thought Gallade learned Toxic, no?

This is a little old, but I'll post anyways.

I don't like how people say how Gallade is pretty good at filling several roles, but is the best at none. I'd say he's one of the best damn physical attackers in the game. His movepool is what keeps Medicham aching with jealousy. He can 2HKO Skarm and Forretress with Close Combat, Gliscor can be met with Ice Punch, Weezing is 2HKO'd by Psycho Cut, Night Slash 2HKO'd Dusknoir and 3HKO'd extremely defensive Cresselia, Tangrowth and Donphan won't have much fun with repeated Close Combats without recovery, etc. The only problem is Hippowdon, who is bulky enough to take a couple Close Combats and Slack Off the damage.

Heracross can boast to hitting a lot with its dual 120 Base Power STAB moves, but can't even touch Gliscor and Weezing, and has trouble with Hippowdon, while Gallade can just hit with much better coverage and has little trouble with 2/3 of those aforementioned Heracross counters. In short, Choice Band Gallade can really shit up.

I like Gallade because he has that handy Double Status, along with the ability to nail stuff hard from the Physical side, with a good combo in Night Slash/Close Combat. He can also take hits from the Special side, if necessary, which is what he has over Gengar in that aspect.
