Standard play should be a metagame where the highest amount of Pokemon are good enough to be considered for usage. That's my opinion.

That would be UU. Which shows just how much OU is screwed up.

What the crap, what is it with all this unfounded OU hate? Is it because its called "Over Used" and we all want to be unique snow flakes?

Not everything in UU/NU is that great in "Standards", but there are plenty of things that are. Keep in mind that a huge chunk of Pokemon already lie inside OU and BL.

Pinsir, Persian, Hitmonlee, Octillery, Probopass, Toxicroak, Swellow, Claydol, Electrode, Rapidash, PIKACHU, Mr. Mime, Glaceon, Nintetails, Hitmonchan, Hitmontop, Sharpedo, Absol, Dodrio, Shuckle... the list goes on. They might not be "WHOMG THE SINGLE BEST SWEEPER EVER!", but they are very very usable within Standards. Just because you don't see them that often doesn't mean they don't have their place if you build your team with them in mind.

I disagree. I'll use an example that I've used for banning Snover in UU. Snover alone is not overpowering in UU. However, Walrein, Lapras and Glaceon are arguably too powerful for UU when auto-hail is on. Therefore, Snover is banned, because banning only 1 pokemon is better for the metagame than banning 3.

Arguably, banning Blissey from the metagame decreases the size of the metagame. Specsmence counters drop to pokemon who can't recover off the damage (Empoleon, Tentacruel, etc. etc.) Yes, other special walls will become more popular but the metagame will shrink towards specialized counters to Specsmence and other high powered Sp. Attackers.
That's not necessarily true - I've had more than one successful team without Blissey, and I know a lot of offense teams don't carry it. It just requires you to think a little bit smarter and play off resistances/etc.

Some OU pokes Blissey counters:

-Gengar, which is also countered by Bronzong, Metagross, Jirachi, sometimes Weavile, Pursuit
-Heatran - bulky waters, Heatran
-PorygonZ - Probopass(...), Registeel, Spiritomb, Tyranitar, Metagross, Heatran
-Roserade - Salamence, Dragonite, Zapdos, Crobat, Magnezone, Heatran, Metagross
-Salamence - Empoleon, (maybe) Registeel, Milotic, Bronzong
-Yanmega - Snorlax, Regice, Registeel, Empoleon, Magnezone, Heatran

Can we beat these if she's gone???????????

If she goes do we ban these forever???????

The only real threats without Blissey are, from that list, Mence and PZ. I'd add Azelf to that list also. The others can be dealt with by (effective) immunities to their strongest attacking type.

A big problem with Bliss is the general populace's common answer to EVERY special attack to just throw Bliss at it. It's extremely naive and inefficient in most cases.
