What It Takes To Make It Into OU... (Improve a Pokemon)

Um, I always wanted a Dunsparce Evo

Normal/Dragon- 130 / 115 / 90 / 65 / 90 / 60 (speed last)

If only Dragon Rush had better accuracy this would be perfect... He needs a more powerful flinching move. Also would own with DD but that might be a little much lol. As long as he has BS/Twave then speed isn't really a problem when it comes to flinching.

Eh, I kind of feel like Dunsparce got left in the dust with Togekiss now being a better flinch haxer.

Jynx needs to get 115 base speed(120-130 would be amazing), Lovely Kiss acurracy increased to 95 or 100.

Oh and it should get Thunderbolt.

Magcargo needs an evo and get Solid Rock. Probably base stats like: 80 / 55 / 150 / 100 / 120 / 25

That would probably make it more useful. Also, Ampharos screams Tail Glow. I mean cmon, for a pokemon that can be used as a light-alternate for lighthouses, You would think his tail would glow.

While we're talking fantasy evos to bring pokes up to OU, I thought of a nice one for Scizor. 600-BST Red steel dragon, anyone?

Steel/Bug
Ability: Dragonheart (STAB on Dragon-type moves)

HP 100
Atk 145
Def 50
SpA 80
Speed 115
SpD110

Scizor just got beasted. it would be absolutely pwned by Flare Blitz, though.

Carnivine should have been grass/steel to make it at least unique in the grass department or just give it an evo that fixes that.

Stat distribution for the evo 94/110/100/100/75/56 = 525

Hypno wants an evo more than anything.

Lanturn would enjoy an evo as well.

Btw thick fat dragonite with base 95 speed would NOT be a good idea. Because if he is fat then why should he be fast? Well it might work because gamefreak likes to defy logic.

Give Teddiursa an alternate evo that is a black bear and has the Dark/Normal typing and make the stat distribution something like 85/135/70/80/70/65.

Castform should get a rock form for sandstorms. A friend of mine had an idea a while back that he should get an alternate ability called "stormcast" and a few new weather affecting moves (like "tempest" for a flying-type Castform, and "acid rain" for a poison-type castform). The 'stormcast' ability could easily be integrated in a new game without distrupting the current system.

Flareon, as others on this thread have already pointed out, could - and indeed should - receive more attention than he gets. He's personally my favorite Eeveelution, but he's also the one that gets screwed over in the most ways. Flare drive, recover, crunch, and EQ would go a long way to making this guy shine like his more frequently used cousins. The loss of Shadow ball with the advent of the 4th gen was hard enough, but this guy hasn't really picked up anything to make up for it.

Lapras and Politoed with recover would be awesome.

Sunflora needs a better movepool to take advantage of its nice SAtt. A third evo would go a long way as well.

Even though Sceptile's still up there, I'd still like to see him get a bigger special movepool.

Delcatty could use another evo with either better defences or better attacking stats.

Maybe expand Plusle and Minun's abilities so that maybe "Plus" gives Plusle a stat increase when hit by a special attack, and "Minus" gives the opponent a stat decrease when Minun is hit with a special attack.

Banette of course *should* have been the ghost to get the evo this gen, but leave it to GF to perpetuate the lopsided system they've got going.

There should also be an ability which is like "Intimidate" for special attack - putting that on any random UU/NU poke would surely bump it up at least one tier.

Those are my thoughts.

Or, simply give Scizor Heatproof, and bolster his speed a little. Unfortunately, he'd lose technician... And Heatproof makes no sense...

Actually, Scratch giving Scizor Heatproof. Give it to Forretress and give him a little more SpDef. Scizor only wants more speed and potentially a better Arcanine / Flareon to U-turn any fire attacks into.

Not trying to make this tier discussion, but I think a lot of pokemon mentioned could very well make it into the BL tier without help...... I think the OP meant the pokes who can't really ever work in OU.... Hell, I see even Swampert mentioned in one of these posts >_> (and he was suggested to get Hard Rock -_-)

Well, Magcargo is the one who needs Solid Rock, if anyone. That, or much better typing. 4x Weak to Surf and EQ isn't great. Perhaps an evolution with something along the lines of Fire / Water if anyone has a way to figure out how it would make sense.

I like AA's suggestion of a Water Absorb Magcargo (even if it doesn't make a lot of sense) but even then EQ spells his doom. Of course Filter (I have no idea what the trait is supposed to represent :/ ) could do the trick, but he'd still be slow with no redeeming stats with his HP weakening his almost high enough defense...... Magcargos pretty hopeless unless he gets a type change (at which point you've gone beyond making sense) and even then his stats are...... bleh

Strangely enough, Water Absorb 'Cargo would make sense:
Sapphire Pokedex said:
Magcargo's body temperature is approximately 18,000 degrees F. Water is vaporized on contact. If this Pokémon is caught in the rain, the raindrops instantly turn into steam, cloaking the area in a thick fog.

Drifblim is one of my favorite pokemon. It's stats should be arranged to:

HP: 110
Attack: 40
Defense: 70
Special Attack: 95
Special Defense: 70
Speed: 105

A great Baton Passer perhaps with Speed Boost

The thing is that all Pokes are strong/weak only when compared to other Pokes. I understand that one move or so would take a number of underused Pokes and bring them to the competitive table, but this does a number of things.

Mostly, it further divides those particular ones with the others beneath them. If someone wants this one guy given one or two extra moves to bump up his usefulness, that only further makes Pokemon like Dunsparce utterly useless. In turn, people would start bickering that very underused Pokes like Dunsparce and Sunflora should now get a bump up. If this were to happen, the balance of the game would continue to shift, and people would start complaining that now the Ubers aren't as strong or powerful as they were intentionally meant to be, and that they should be bumped up. It'd be a process that never ended. We'd have Dunsparce with 2 evolutions and the like, which was never it's intentions. Not every Pokemon was designed to be playable in every situation.

I like the way Lofty suggest on the first page that instead of just making all underused Pokes more powerful, we should give them traits or moves that help them to become more useable in certain situations. Moves that he suggested, such as Rapid Spin are a perfect example. The move doesn't make Pokemon like Forretress extremely powerful, but it does open up his usefulness to the standard competitive game. I liked the idea of giving certain Pokemon moves that would enhance others, such as the Hive Call making Pokes with multi-hit attacks more useable. I think if they instead focused on making more of them more useful in certain situations this would make a lot of them more playable, without upsetting the balance of power within the game. Otherwise we could just sit here all day bickering about how this guy needs this super-powerful move and whatnot.

I feel this thread is getting out of hand and becoming a spamfest of "Pokemon needs move, trait or better stats'. It's kinda getting close to create-your-own Pokemon which is...kind of a dumb topic imo. I doubt anyone who posted is really reading what others are saying.

Locking unless someone disagrees desperately.

Change Blaziken's base speed to 90 and give it Close Combat. We all know blaziken got outclassed this gen. Also change both defences to 80.

Yeah, let's make the firefighters practically the same Pokemon.
