Wii and PS3 right now.

Wii- was purchased at launch. Meh, I don't really like it anymore. Thanks to the power of gamefly I've played almost every major game released for it (from elebits to Mario Galaxy to Sonic) and I'm not very satisfied. The games seem overly familiar and have not been very engaging. Now it sits unplugged for the most part.I'm still holding onto it for now in the hope that someday I'll want something for it.

I bought a PS3 last year in Nov and I'm really happy with it. Uncharted, MGS and Ratchet have all been fun. Warhawk is one of the best online games I have ever played. I'm currenty looking forward to LittleBigPlanet. If you don't know a lot about it I suggest watching the GDC 07 unveiling, the reaction of the crowd is priceless. Eternal Sonta looks good as well and Valkyria Chronicles looks too good to pass up.

I'm also considering wipeout HD and/or Socom. That's one of the things I love about the PS3 is the variety of games you can buy and the prices you can get them for. I was bored one day and someone recommended Wild Arms to me. For only $6 I got one of the best RPGs out there.

One of my biggest complaints about the Wii was fixed by getting a PS3. It's so easy to connect with other people and play against others. So yeah I'm really happy with it.

The Wii is fun for the first month or so. After that the novelty wears off and extremely limited scope of games really starts to get to you. Now that I've completed Zelda Twilight Princess, the only time my Wii comes out the cupboard is when I have friends over and we are feeling lighthearted enough for a game of Wii Tennis.

The PS3 on the other hand has exceeded expectations so far. Of course, only having had it for 4 days doesn't help, but I still feel that it will be a long time before I stop playing it like every day.

I own a Wii. I too like the Nintendo games. There aren't nearly enough games for the PS3/Xbox 360, that appeal to me, to warrant me spending the money.

I enjoy the Wii, though I don't play that often because of time contraints.

I'm quite fond of my Wii. Between Pokemon Battle Revolution, Lego Star Wars, Resident Evil 4 and Brawl I got a couple hundred hours in on it.

Wi-Fi has it's faults, but I greatly enjoyed my online experience with Brawl and Battle Revolution.

PS3 is cheaper than the Xbox 360 is if you play online (aka buy Xbox Live). That's an important point that a lot of people forget.
Yes but people are prepared to pay £3 a month for Live as it is affordable. I, personally, can't afford a £300 - £350 forkout to buy a PS3.

I have gone though every next-gen and hand held. Though I currently only own 360, Wii, and DS. I ended up selling my PSP and PS3 because a lack of interest in the exclusives.

The Wii gets the most use mostly because of smash my friend and I play religiously. I haven't touched my DS much since Phantom Hourglass but they're are some games that look interesting. Right now I am playing Fable 2 which I stayed up till 4am playing and almost slept through a test this morning.

I have an Xbox 360 (current favourite this generation) and Wii (Nintendo franchise machine). The Wii gets very little use from me while the 360 gets considerably more. I intend to get a PlayStation 3 by the end of the year.

Yeah the exact same, I mean exact same for me. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, most already listed.

I am getting a PS3, because no matter how I reason with myself, I need MGS4 badly, and to aid my conscious in spending 400$, LBP looks absolutely delicious.

Yes, he already clarified so no reason to come to the PS3's rescue ;) I just found it paradoxical to say PS3 was the best and then say that it lacks games right after. I think of a system by the games, not the hardware.

Do you check the returns btw? Or what date they were manufactured? The stats on GAF users show that only 16 Falcon units have died in the last year as opposed to hundreds of Zephyrs (including mine).

Got me there, I didn't even see that reply. Funny how one misses these things...

Isn't it paradoxical to think of a system purely by games alone? The system is what you play your games on... if it's a piece of junk that's going to fail 33% of the time (not inferring anything here ;) ). Extra features are always handy too, that's what made the PS2 so great last generation.

I don't check the returns in detail, but there's a stack of returns every day that I see that's right beside the punch-in clock. I generally see (Let's say on average per week, since I'm not in every day) about 5-7 returned 360's.

How do the GAFers keep track of those statistics, out of curiousity? Wouldn't it get the person leaking the numbers out in major trouble?

I'm also considering wipeout HD and/or Socom.

Wipeout HD is awesome, I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to buy it until I remembered good times with ExtremeG on the N64 . . . and it was totally worth the $20. I haven't even gotten around to playing online, just doing the campaign is fun as hell.

Like a few others here, I have a Wii but it's doing nothing other than gathering dust nowadays. My bro started university this year and hasn't had time to really play Smash anymore, and that was basically the only thing I played on the Wii. I beat Twilight Princess, No More Heroes, Super Mario Galaxy, got tired of Mario Kart Wii (seriously broken items) . . . there's just no real replay value on most of these games.

The PS3, on the other hand . . . I've got friends/relatives to play RB with, I've beaten MGS4 three times and still want to play it (emblems), still want to get some more skill points and beat Resistance on hard (yeah I just got it, since R2 is coming out soon), and I play CoD4/Wipeout HD every now and then.

I'm currently playing MGS3 though; MGS2 was the only Metal Gear I had played before MGS4. I read everything about MGS and MGS3 on the Wiki before playing 4, but I'm certain that's nowhere near as good as actually having played through the game and catching the references to older titles in 4 ("you're pretty good").

Edit: Title of poll is "What console(s) do you currently play," title of thread is "own." So what do we vote for if we own 2 and only play 1? =P

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence is an amazing game. Play it. The graphics hold up even now. Big Boss > Solid Snake.

Yeah, I just started it (yesterday) and I can tell it's going to be amazing. Decided to go with European Extreme mode; played MGS2 on Normal, MGS4 on Big Boss Hard, so I'm going to try my luck with EE . . . I've just gotten to the first bridge cutscene with the Cobra unit, can't wait to play more. Have to finish schoolwork first though, argh.

I love my Wii, and Nintendo, Ive gotten each system at one point or another, but there isnt many games for it I like, Brawl got old after rughly 80 hours (go figure), Mario Kart is lots of fun online but the fucking blue shell is enough to make me break a wii mote (one gone and counting..), Twilight Princess and FE: Radiant Dawn have probally 200 hours of my life total between them, but after those 4 im not excited about much...No More Heroes was a good 15 hour diversion I guess but there isnt anything else thats exclusive I want..

Of course, I really like Ultimate Alliance and The Force Unleashed with the Wii controls....

Anyways, Im going to get a 360 or a PS3 in the begining of november (work bonus) but I cant commit to either one..most of the games want are multi-console, with the only exclusives im pissing myself over are Fable and God of War...so im thinking i'll buy a new 360, and when the time comes for GoW3, buy the absolute cheapest ps3 i can possibly find..

Just a Wii, since it's the only console that can do stuff computers in general can't. =/

Just a Wii. I don't have time to play a lot these days, but I always find time to play some classic VC games. The VC was basically the reason I bought it (and it was cheaper!)

I'm considering buying a 360 because I want to play Tales Of Vesperia and NBA 2k9. I don't really like any game the PS3 has, except MGS4, and it's expensive so meh...

i only have a wii. it was the least expensive console at the time it was purchased.

how come i lost interest in my wii?
i'm back to playing on my playstation 2 (which i haven't touched in weeks either, actually. maybe a month). i realize how much i love playstation now.

Missed your post too. Nope on the paradoxial part. The box plays the games. That's what it's there for. Neither system has many extra features I care for except the PS3 plays BluRays which is useful at this point in time. I never use my PS2 as a DVD Player. Selling because it's the cheapest DVD player (or this gen, BluRay player) does nothing for my gaming experience.

For GAF, it's not nationwide statistics. It's just a comparison to how many Zephyrs on the board have broken down as compared to Falcons. Only 16 members with Falcons have had their 360s die as opposed to hundreds (I think 500+?) Zephyrs. This is after 1 year of Falcon units.

I agree.

I bought a wii for super smash brothers brawl, but other than that, there's not much to it other than me checking the weather or playing old nintendo classics (and yes, I have played almost all the "good" wii games, and I didn't find them exciting as xbox360 games). I've been wanting an xbox360 for a while now, but my internet provider is Verizon DSL. Is Verizon DSL fast enough to play halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 online? I've heard rumors from a few persons that it's laggy, I want to know if it's true.
