The SNES was much more innovative than the other consoles when it came out back then, with the likely exception of the Wii, although I still think the SNES is better.
It wasn't really innovative. It was an upgraded NES. Which is what made it awesome. None of this waggle shit that doesn't even work right >=O! Oh well WiiMotion Plus will make the Wii do what it should have done since release.

N64 all the way.

Goldeneye/Perfect Dark are the best shooters I have ever played, and have easily led to the most fun :)
(along with, of course, all the other fantastic 64 games mentioned)

PS: Mentioning Jet Force Gemini a great game that I never truly beat :(

Nintendo 64 has my vote, Zelda OoT was on it (best game ever), and many other games that were amazing were on it, good times, good times..

QFT

I loved my N64. I need to go to Gamestop or something and pick one up again. I never realized what an insane box of fun that thing was until I sold it.

Super Nintendo by a gargantuan margin. I'd actually go so far as to say it's better than the rest combined; to me, none of the other consoles have more than one or two truly great games, while SNES has a fairly big stack: LttP, Chrono Trigger, SMRPG, FFV and VI, Donkey Kong Country 2, Kirby Superstar...the list goes on.

Also, Firestorm made a good point, many of the 3D N64 games that looked great at the time have aged quite badly, while the 2D look that most SNES games have is pretty much timeless. I might put one of the Playstation consoles over the SNES, but as far as Nintendo goes, the SNES is champ.

I'm noticing that nobody really cares for the NES,
but in the later years, Genesis was really giving it a run for it's money.

Still, this is where Zelda, Mario, Metroid ... all the best got their start, and to be fair, i still play them on VC.

N64 has too many classics, like SSB, Goldeneye, OoT... I kinda grew up with Sega Genesis over SNES (actually I didn't even own it but w/e) so I never knew it or NES.

N64 followed very closely by SNES.
I grew up on the 64 and I wasn't biased at that point against certain games because I never read reviews online when I was like six. I enjoyed every game for it especially my first games ever Bomberman and Mario 64. Then my older sister introduced me to other classics like Star Fox, Legend of Zelda, and another favorite Banjo and Kazooie.

Once you've gotten done with the Nintendo mainstays later I moved on to some of its sweet RPG's (yeah it has some good ones), like Aidon Chronicals, and Ogre Battle. And really it has a bunch of goodies once you try out the most popular ones first.

I'm probably biased because it was my first real console, like how people are biased to liking their first FF game. I wish I could put SNES with all of its sweet RPGs (my personal favorites, seiken densetsu 3, Romancing SaGa 3, and then the rest of those more classic ones). But the 64 was so cool to me.

Gonna have to go with the N64, it was the first console my family owned. Good times saying up all night trying to get through star fox, mario, OoT, and the like.

SNES, if not only for Donkey Kong Country 2.

Of course, it still has it's fair share of great games aside from that.

This game is half my childhood

The other half would be Mario Kart, Zelda OoT, Diddy kong racing, SSB and Paper Mario.

N64 all the way.

It is confusing that a "best" poll has checkboxes instead of radio buttons. You can choose multiple "bests."

It is a travesty that the SNES is not even winning.

NES for the impact it had when it came out, Nintendo rocked the world. The SNES for it's library, it's pretty impressive even now to watch at the solid number of games it had.

Hmm... I can't say, as all the consoles have had games I will always thoroughly enjoy, and can be labeled my 'favorite' games. Very difficult decision... I like them all too much to actually only vote for 1. :toast:

All my friends had N64s and I didn't, which probably made it seem even more special when I played it way back when. I'll still play Smash/MK 64 with my friends occasionally.

I'm just starting to get into SNES games now actually, but wow... they just seem better made than most of today's games. They've aged really well.

I lived my life on the N64, as I didn't get into gaming heavily till I got one. I did rent a SNES from my video store from time to time, but I wasn't really all that sucked in till I saw Mario Kart 64 and realized I couldn't play on the thing I rented. I just like the N64 for the nostalgia, and the fact that I can relive everything on there using my Wii, and not having to hook it up all over again. Surprising its winning though.

I would pick Nintendo DS overall, I have always liked the handhelds over the console, don't know why...maybe because Pokemon thrives through the handhelds =)

But onto the consoles, I really liked the N64.Sadly, it has been the only Nintendo console I have ever gotten =( I still have it, with Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart, Megaman 64/Legends/D.A.S.H (GOD that game is so underrated </3), and some other stuff.

On the NES...well, the games were fun, yeah, but the only NES game I fell in love with was Crystalis, what an awesome game that was...

The Wii is really nice, I would pick it over everything (but the DS)...I'm not really into "nostalgia".

Edit: how did everyone forget about the FIRST Smash Brothers?Geez.

Edit 2: The polls ends in a few hours, I'll have to vote now... =(

Bleh, I'll give it some though and vote tomorrow.

Edit 3: oh cool multiple choices lol

Super nintendo

Chronotrigger -is- the greatest game of all time, also super mario, super metroid, megaman x, and kirby super star were all on there, which are amazing games. Some super nintendo games sell high today, a sealed box chronotrigger sold for 1200$ on eBay, while a regular one sells for roughly 50$

NES & Super NES

N64 was a pretty bad console, the only sense I make out of it winning so far is probably the average age of voters, which must be something like 16-17.

N64 for me.

Starfox 64 was the most epic game ever made around its time (and to be honest, its still the best in its type).

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is too good for words.
