what's your favorite element on the periodic table and why

Plutonium because it can make our lifes easier by growing a new arm on our back to scratch it!

I used to really like all the elements at the end of the periodic table when they still had placeholder names, it was fun checking back in every so often to see that another one had been found or officially named. However, I think it's been a few years now since the last discovery/renaming so I'm just kind of looking forward to the synthesis of element 119 or higher, because that means we get to start a new row on the periodic table, which I think is just pretty neat.

I'm a fan of the 5th-period transition metals. It's hard for me to pick any one in particular though, a lot of them have different aspects that are interesting.

Helium because it exists on earth in pretty limited quantities that are difficult to harvest, is super important for things like cooling superconducting magnets (used in MRI machines, among other things), and yet we waste a decent chunk of it on the balloon industry.

i actually have a few that i really like

technetium because its the first element on the table that does not occur naturally

molybdenum has the most fun name

terbium is cool because tb are my initials

my favorite overall though is probably beryllium because its strong, light, and gives color to beryl crystals (emerald and stuff)

lithium

i like playing a game where i stab lithium batteries and juggle them
if the batteries blow up in the air i win, and if they blow up in my hands then i still win because i get to train my pain tolerance
