When Summer Calls - An Ubers RMT

Hello again Smogon, I'm back with another Ubers RMT. Last time I presented you with a Sunny Day Ubers team, and now it's Groudon's partner in crime that gets the spotlight, Kyogre.

|An In-Depth Look|

kyogre.png

Kyogre @ Choice Specs
Timid - Drizzle
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Water Spout
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunder

I start things off with Kyogre (because Kyogre is my lead) and he does really well. Choice Specs adding to the most powerful water move, STAB'd, is deadly (literally). The other moves are there for coverage in the event Water Spout is resisted or it won't do as much as another move for some reason.

garchomp.png

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Jolly - Sand Veil
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Stone Edge

When I was building this team, I found myself piling the team full of special attackers (because the special spectrum in Ubers is much more plentiful than physical), and then I remember about Deoxys-A and so I slapped a Choice Band on this fellow and it has made me proud ever since. ExtremeSpeed is the move I use the most since I'm usually coming in to revenge kill something, but the other moves help out too.

Changed to Garchomp by recommendation of ZetoTarken

palkia.png

Palkia @ Lustrous Orb
Timid - Pressure
4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Surf
- Spacial Rend
- Fire Blast
- Thunder

Kyogre almost can't exist without Palkia (even though Kyogre was a whole generation earlier). The Dragon/Water combo is simply beautiful. All four moves supply my team with marvelous coverage and is a huge asset to pulling off a win.

rayquaza.png

Rayquaza @ Life Orb
Hasty - Air Lock
40 Atk / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- ExtremeSpeed
- Brick Break

As mentioned earlier, I was hard pressed to find physical attackers for this team. I slapped a DD Rayquaza in and seemed to be a perfect fit. Air Lock only stops weather while Ray is out, so the rain will pick back up (due to Drizzle making it permanent) as soon as Ray leaves the field. I put in Overheat to allow for coverage against Dialga, Scizor and Forretress and also any other steel type that might try to come in and block/set up on me.

Changed to MixQuaza by recommendation of eValentino.

scizor.png

Scizor @ Life Orb
Adamant - Technician
176 HP / 100 Atk / 232 SpD
- Pursuit
- U-Turn
- Roost
- Bullet Punch

A bit of a different set than what we're all used to in OU, but that's what I want. I play Ubers to see and use different sets than what is in OU most of the time, so it wouldn't make sense to run a CB Scizor. He makes a great revenge killer (as always) and works great against Uber threats.

wobbuffet.png

Wobbuffet @ Leftovers
Calm - Shadow Tag
28 HP / 228 Def / 252 SpD
-Encore
-Mirror Coat
-Counter
-Safeguard

I found myself needing a wall on the team, after I plugged the physical hole. So I discovered the beast that is Lugia. Whirlwind is great for getting out all those pesky set-up sweepers and Toxic/Roost help me to stall out the opponent. Ice Beam is there so Taunt won't completely ruin me and so I can something other than Stall.

Changed to Wobbuffet by recommendation of shrang.

Since you're not going for any physical moves, I'd recommend using timid as your palkia's nature. Better yet, I see a pretty big problem of Scarf Palkia for your team so I would strongly recommend Scarf Palkia for it.

Your team is ScarfDialga weak. Without Ray, you have nothing that can switch into Thunder, survive, and threaten it since it 1-2hkos with SR and outspeeds everything on you team. Without SR Scizor survives the 2hko but can't threaten Dialga. I recommend ScarfChomp over Deoxys-A. It can revenge in a similar way to CB Deoxys-A, doesn't hit as hard but can revenge Scarfed pokes better. The stuff that still outspeeds Chomp can usually be taken out by Scizor.

Thanks for the quick replies guys!

@ lordkira: I'll look into changing Palkia to a Scarf set, but for now I'm just changing the nature to Timid and holding off on Scarf for now since I just scarf'd Garchomp. I'm pretty hesitant about having too many choice item holders.

@ ZetoTarken: I like the idea of Chomp, I'll try it out.

Hi, nice team. You team isn't really that weak to anything, per se. However, I'll try and make a few changes so your team ends up better =D.

First off, I think Lugia is a dead-weight on a team that has so much offensive power. I would suggest replacing her with Wobbuffet, since Ray will have trouble switching in and setting up sometimes. Wobbuffet can also revenge Scarf Palkias and the like who come out to revenge Ray.

Wobbuffet @ Leftovers
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 28 HP/228 Def/252 SpD
Ability: Calm
-Encore
-Mirror Coat
-Counter
-Safeguard

Just one more nitpick, I have no idea why you run Stone Edge on Rayquaza. Surely you meant Earthquake?? Stone Edge does nothing except hit Ho-oh harder, and Outrage hits her hard enough, I would say. Yeah, replace Stone Edge with EQ.

Hope I helped. Good luck.

Give palkia outrage as it likes to have a mixed attacking ability to hit latias etc for more damage. Besides, surf does enough damage to steels. For the lead, run the thunder wave lead set:

Kyogre @ Lum berry
252HP/252SAtk/4Spd
Modest Nature
-Surf
-Ice beam
-Thunder
-Thunder wave

I'm sorry, but I'm not really seeing enough to show me that I need to make either of these changes (especially the second). My Specs Kyogre lead works great and you're not telling me what's wrong with/why yours is better. As for Palkia, I'm not comfortable making that change yet (and you didn't tell me much about that either).

You seem pretty Dragon-weak at the moment, especially to a scarfed Palkia or a Darkrai with Spacial Rend (WTF, you say? No, I'm not joking. I run a Spacial Rend Darkrai sometimes). Wobb and Scizor can only go so far towards blocking such a threat. I'd recommend one of two things:

1. Run MixRay (Brick Break, Extremespeed, Draco Meteor, Flamethrower) instead of DD Ray. Extremespeed will allow it to outrun every non-priority threat, while Draco allows you to do immense damage to predicted switch-ins. Flamethrower is there for Forretress, and will OHKO even if Forry is holding an Occa Berry. In this player's opinion, Flamethrower is superior to Overheat because it won't wreck your stats after using it. Draco does the same thing, I know, but allows for better coverage IMO.

2. You could also run a Blissey. I have never used Blissey and cannot offer a further suggestion here.
