Who are your role models?

Posting to say that was a very well-handled way of taking an insult to a hero of yours. I love the way he lived his life, sex, drugs and rock and roll, and I love the fact he was not scared of mind-exploration like 99% of the people out there. I just don't think his lyrics are all that good.

Fair enough

My mom, mainly. Why is Kurt Cobain your hero? He was a drug addict that killed himself. Do you really want to follow in those footsteps?

He was a drug addict, I'll give you that. The issue of him killing himself is debatable. No human is perfect. His music literally keeps people alive. To avoid going on a lengthy diatribe and simply quote Rolling Stone.

"He was perfect, perfectly flawed."

There aren't many people in this world that can be followed as model (not even my dad.)... so, I wouldn't consider me a follower of anyone. I appreciate Bono Vox from U2. If hystorical people are allowed, Che Guevara, Mahatma Ghandi and Saladin are good examples to follow.

I like that you mentioned Saladin. Few people even know of his existence, and those that do tend to disregard him because of his position in history. Yes, the man opposed Lionheart and the noble Crusades, but he was also arguably the most skilled military commander of all time. Mustafa Kamal is another example of Saladin's type that got brushed under the carpet because we don't like to admit our past enemies had some merit. Even Hitler respected the dead so much that he ordered French, British, and American WWI cemeteries and memorials rebuilt that had been damaged or destroyed by WWII fighting. It's really kind of interesting to learn about the other side of these "monsters" of history.

My parents, my brother, and my friends. They are not really my roll models, but they are the people that have made me the person i am today and for that i am happy.

In a historical sense Mark Twain and Isaac Newton. Last year i did a research paper on Mark Twain and he is a really interesting guy and the contrast in his writing as he aged is unbelievable. Isaac Newton was one of the greatest scientific minds.

Oh and i have to throw George Carlin out there since he is the man.

Che Guevera. Honestly?

the Beatles, Churchill, Woodrow Wilson

and my mother and father.

Either you are in denial about all of the evil things he's done, are evil yourself, or just ignorant.

My Role Models (mainly just people that I greatly admire):

Robert Francis Kennedy
Jimmy Carter
Bill Clinton
I heard Bush eats babies for breakfast! Fuck 'the man' amirite?

Adding on Ivan Moldavi and Francos Spain, if anyone knows who they are.

People might not like Bush but you have to realize two things, 1. He's the fucking president. Who the fuck are you? 2. He was elected twice. Voting scandels aside, I find it highly amusing that so many people complain about Bush when he was voted by the majority of voters to be president.

As for my personal role models; Brian May, Mitch Hedburg, and Cyrus the Great. Brian May is my inspiration for playing guitar. I hope the music I play can one day instill the same level of awe as his does to me. Mitch Hedburg will always be my favorite comedian by far. He always had stage fright, was very self-aware and is undoubtedly the king of wordplay. Cyrus the Great is just a cool dude. Born into royalty, overthrows his grandfather, becomes the founder of the Achaemenid dynasty. And my mom, cuz she makes me cookies filled with love.

Perhaps this says something about the majority of Americans. >_>

I don't really have any role models, although people who have influenced my outlook on life include Bertrand Russell and Richard Dawkins. Generally, I hope that when I'm older I'll be successful whilst retaining my humanity.

Um not to belittle Mitch Hedburg as he is one of my favorite comedians, but George Carlin is the king of wordplay.

Well, that majority was a little over 50%, so that leaves about half the country dissapointed with him. His approval ratings now are shit, anyway. And don't come in here on your fucking high horse like you know anything and put me down. Who the fuck are you to diminish me because I'm "not the president" and therefore I don't know what's going on? Shut up, asshole.

First of all, approval ratings don't mean a thing. My proof? Well, the exact same president whose approval ratings are shit now, as you so eloquently put it, is also the record holder for president for highest recorded approval rating. Second, while I admit I have not researched this, I'm pretty sure theres no president who won his election with a majority that was more than 60%, so thats a pretty moot point. Third, I know enough to know that those millions(?) of people who hate Bush don't do a thing to make things better. Clinton was impeached and acquitted within a year, while Republicans held control of the Senate. (Clintons a Democrat just so ya know) If so many people hate Bush, why the fuck hasn't he been impeached yet? Impeach the Blowjob or False-Pretense War? Listen I'm not saying Bush is a great president, I'm just saying I'm tired of all these hypocrites criticizing him and then not doing anything about it. If Bush won by a majority, then that means at least half the people who hate him are responsible for his power. So yeah, I eagerly await your response. :-D

I completely agree with you on the fact that no one has done anything about Bush's scandals. Yes, he should be impeached, but that was not going to happen in the years when the Republicans held the Senate. Now that the Democrats have taken over, I dont see why they at least try and make an impeachment. I guess because there are still a lot of Republicans in the Senate, enough to overturn it, at least. The Democrats have been pussies as far as this is conserned. There sure as hell is enough shit to impeach him for, but no one seems to take any action with the information, except film makers like Rory Kennedy and Michael Moore (say what you want about him, I like Rory better). There are a lot of people who hate Bush, but the politicians aren't going to do anything about it, it seems. That's why the people protest, rally, etc... but it doesn't seem to be doing any good.

Oh, and Bush never won anything with a 60% majority. Especially not when he ran against Gore. The 2004 election was almost as close.

I didn't mean to imply that Bush won by that much, just that there has not been a president who has won by that much, to my knowledge, so beating your opponent by a little more than 50% is standard.

On topic, In retrospect, I think Jesus is a pretty good role-model. The poor shall always be with us. Thats deep.

Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin, Gideon Mantell, William Buckland...there's alot in that area of science and whatnot.

Are you dumb fuckers seriously having a political argument in this thread? Seriously, fuck all of you ignorant retards who think their half baked political opinions are the absolute truth, and fuck you AGAIN for shitting up this thread with them. So the guy looks up to Bush? Let him. Shut the fuck up and don't be a goddamn troll.
