Why we need fewer Comic Book movies or: why we need to change the system.

Okay, let's just step back for a bit. I'm a fan of JRPGs. I'm well-acquainted with the many oft-repeated tropes of the genre. The majority of JRPGs tend to have pretty much the same storyline, many of the same character types, etc. The Tales series is especially guilty of this, but even the more thought-provoking JRPGs, like Shin Megami Tensei, can't really escape from using plotlines that have already been done many times before. Yet, I could easily go around like a connoisseur, insisting on the small differences that make me prefer some JRPGs over others, differences that most people ultimately wouldn't care about.

So I get it. I get that different products of the same genre are really similar. I also get that they're different in various small ways. I get that most people aren't super into superhero movies, or anything else in particular, beyond the entertainment value. Different people have different tastes, so that's the logical conclusion. I don't see how that's such a controversial statement, or an uncalled-for generalization. I also get that many people are really into superhero movies, and that they'd insist on those little differences. Again, I don't see what's so controversial about this.

Anyway, I watched these videos about Man of Steel and I thought, this is so appropriate for where this thread has been going!

^ I was talking about how if this keeps going on and on it might truly hinder cinema's creativity in blockbuster department. But, if you like them, then that's your opinion and I respect that.

@Mack how about you take your own advice? Saying "Don't listen to that guy" isn't any better than calling someone retarded (which I never did). And I'm the person not bringing anything relevant to the conversation? This thread has mostly been the same regurgitated comments over and over, and your last two posts added absolutely nothing and the thread would've been exactly the same (poor) quality without them. If there's someone people shouldn't be listening to, it's the guy adding nothing to the discussion and saying "hey ignore this guy because I don't like what he's saying."

If you were more polite yourself, I would've probably responded to your actual comment.

@DrRobotnik 2 things: First off, it was only a joke. I'm sorry if it offended you, but it was meant to be taken with a grain of salt. 2nd off, I did not find you to bring anything relevant to the conversation since you decided to tell everyone else's opinion is wrong while trying to elevate yours in a hostile way. It's not that I don't like what your saying, it's just your general hostility toward mostly everyone you've addressed that bothers me. I respect your opinion, but the hostility is something I don't understand. In this thread I was hoping that this subject would be a good way for people to share each others opinions. You, however are batting everyone else's down. Before you say i do the same, I've read every single post on this thread and thought about where each of these people come from. After this, I've actually come better to terms with Superheroes as a form of escapism. I'll still push for it to be different and be annoyed when it seems repetitive to me, but I now understand why many enjoy it. Also, when "don't just call them "retarded"", "them" was referring to their opinions, not the people themselves. I'm sorry if my posts seem to be repetitive, but the first of the two posts you mentioned was just trying to get this thread started again (I thought there were some wonderful short essays written.) and for the 2nd post I wanted to share that I had my opinion, but I do have respect for everyone else's opinion. Please try to share your opinion in a less hostile way next time, I think more people may listen that way. Remember, people don't like to be told everything they just said was wrong. Also, what about my post about people relating to superheroes did you find offensive?
