Tournament World Cup of 1v1 IV - Round 1

Not open for further replies.
I would just like to point out to pazza that a pool cannot have a player who goes 3-0, 2 that go 2-1, and 1 that goes 0-3. That is mathematically impossible and therefore his predictions, like his math skills, are bs
Sure, counting to twelve may be easy, but try counting to twelve eight times!
Yea its hard to predict 96 games at once
guys guys chill.

Its obvious that these discrepancies can be explained by some games becoming dead games, with our host Rosa randomly giving the wins to different players w/ Pick

Who makes playoffs, according to the predictions:
Not gonna care if they don't add to 96 wins, tbh

To inform anyone who doesn't know, seeds are determined by total number of wins, tiebroken by points, except in the cases of qualifications (if it involves 4th seed). Points in World Cup are determined by:
6 pts for winning your pool, 4 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd, 0 for last

If there's a tie, add the points for the placements that are involved and award the average
Example: A pool going 2-1, 2-1, 2-1, and 0-3 would result in (6+4+2)/3 = 4 points for each player who tied for first

A pool with 3-0 1-2 1-2 1-2 would give (4+2+0)/3 = 2 points for each player tied for last
onto the results,

pazza's predicts

1st Seed: EEU 16 W 5 L (32)
2nd Seed: SEU 16 W 8 L (32)
3rd Seed: West 13 W 8 L (26)
4th Seed: East 11 W 13 L (21)
5th Seed: CONE 9 W 12 L (20)
6th Seed: Central 9 W 9 L (23)
7th Seed: NEU 8 W 13 L (19)
8th Seed: Asia 3 W 15 L (16)

Joker 1v1's predicts

1st Seed: Central 15 W 9 L (32)
2nd Seed: EEU 14 W 9 L (31)
3rd Seed: Asia 13 W 11 L (21)
4th Seed Tie: East 12 W 12 L (28)
4th Seed Tie: SEU 12 W 12 L (25)
6th Seed: CONE 10 W 14 L (15)
7th Seed: West 9 W 15 L (24)
8th Seed: NEU 8 W 16 L (15)

stableprince569's predicts

1st Seed: SEU 20 W 4 L (42)
2nd Seed: EEU 16 W 8 L (31)
3rd Seed: Central 14 W 10 L (27)
4th Seed: CONE 13 W 11 L (24)
5th Seed: West 11 W 13 L (25)
6th Seed tie: East 9 W 15 L (17)
6th Seed tie: NEU 9 W 15 L (17)
8th Seed: Asia 4 W 20 L (8)

these are all bad takes anyway but I was curious as to what ppl thought in general

edit: technically the 2 pools pazza gave all 0s to are all ties so i changed the points to reflect that

I thought if there was ties they use 5 points rather than the 6pts 1st / 4pts for 2nd / 2pts for 3rd ect. thats how the sheet was last year. whatever the case is thank you for putting in the effort for the community ^^

the 5 points come from a tie for 1st and 2nd. 6 pts from 1st + 4 points from 2nd mean that the teams split 10 points, so 5 points each.

OK LADS MADE A BINGO I DON'T REALLY HAVE MUCH ELSE TO ADD PLEASE DIRECT ALL COMPLAINTS TO pazza @ Pazza#1234

the people demanded rosa predicts so here you go-

Highlights
all of BO7 is basically a highlight so eh-
Sice v TSC while sice may have beaten xsc, he had a lot of brain farts along the way, and ended up winning off of a brain fart from xsc. I can't imagine someone more analytical like TSC would have a brain fart like that.
Sice v XSC already happened
Sice v Nalei normally I'd chalk this up under the same category as sice v tsc, but nalei seems a bit distant as of late
TSC v XSC tsc's a builder, so xsc's gonna need to be weaned off of zera + arcanine to win this one
TSC v Nalei even if Nalei is distant rn, she has the edge in sheer unpredictability, which can catch tsc off guard
XSC v Nalei since she's not so much of a cteamer (to my knowledge), nalei's gonna have to outpick xsc, which is a yikes
dogknees v LCB both will use something stupid, and kebia is the sultan of stupid
dogknees v neo being able to adapt will be key in this matchup, to which I think dogknees has the edge here
dogknees v Bale afaik this is the first time these two have fought in tour, and I feel like Bale is pretty consistent at winning first impression matchups
LCB v neo honestly not sure with this one, I feel like neo might have a slight edge in picking, though kebia has done a lot of improving
LCB v Bale similar skillsets, though kebia has the raw experience in the ss meta
neo v Bale same deal as vs dogknees, unless he's solely being fed deg teams, in which case that makes it more even

SSBO5

Piper v Potato decent chance that we might get to see some fun sets here, though I'd say potatochan with cone support has the edge against piper with east support
Piper v smely same as potatochan but with central
Potato v smely this matchup will bank on who can get into each other's head the most. It'll be close, but I think potatochan has the edge
Close v Waylaid standard teams with good picks vs baits. By nature waylaid has the edge here, but close could win with some studying
Dude v zio honestly just a hunch
Dude v Denis denis wins off of standard teams with good picks. I'd mark this as a win for denis if he takes the time to study dude, since dude's strats work well against standard
Dude v ggopw ggopw does what dude does, but with great picks as well
zio v Denis I could see this easily going to game 7 if it were bo7. zio can win, but will have to think outside the box in order to get one over denis
zio v ggopw if zio can beat dude he might have a shot
Denis v ggopw same deal as vs dude but just a smidge incredibly more difficult

SMBO5
I love how these matches are all straight outta 2018-
Elo v Kent elo has the edge solely on current sm knowledge, though kent takes it if asia can actually be a responsible team and teach him what all the new age sm strats are (oof)
Elo v Melo elo can win if his team weans him off of the unorthodox stuff he likes to use (good luck)
Kent v Melo this one I honestly have no idea for and I'm excited to see it-
CP2 v TDA normally I'd have marked cp2 in favor, but I think anything's possible after tda basically 4-0d ggopw in PL

ORASBO5

Scraft v ryy scraft rly is just hopping from gen to gen with each tour, huh- he needs to focus on one or two in order to develop the consistent skills imo, though in this case, anything is possible vs ryy

BWBO5

Kaif v stable the set itself is probably gonna be boring standard stuff, but the grudge match itself between these two should generate a lot of hype

DPPBO5

Tom v LRXC unconventional sets vs unconventional sets, this'll be a fun series. I'd say lrxc has the edge off of experience alone, but tom is still a major threat
Jabiru v Ink self proclaimed dpp master vs one of the big dpp players. Honestly no idea where this'll go, so I'm betting on the one with results
Jabiru v Yami grudge match from last wc. I'm gonna say that whether I made a faulty tourban or not east still woulda won-
Ink v Yami in this case I'd say ink has better picks over yami, though he can still win if he studies up

Results
TEAM RANKINGS

East Europe
17-7 Record
34 Points
+20 Differential

With a lineup full of players with excellent results, it should be no surprise that this is the top team and likely the favorite to win the whole tour. It would take a considerable number of upsets to knock these guys out.
Canada + Oceania
14-10 Record
27 Points
+8 Differential

With the combination of multiple top players from last year as well as several renowned newcomers, Cone is showing that it's got the lineup to make playoffs again. The only thing that could ruin it is if pools don't quite go as predicted, which is a very possible reality.
US West
13-11 Record
29 Points
+4

West is coming in with a solid lineup that covers pretty much all of their bases, though is a bit lacking when it comes to standout players. Only time will tell if they make it into playoffs because of sheer talent or if they got fortunate pools. Their success effectively hinges on multiple players whose results can best be described as on and off.
US East
13-11 Record
27 Points
+4 Differential

Despite having a lineup that can be considered questionable at best, East is actually positioned to make a decent splash in the pools, though they're almost certainly hurting for some muscle in ORAS and BW. Their success banks on how well the team can synergize with one another to provide support all around.
US Central
12-12 Record
25 Points
0 Differential

Even though Central is one of the favorites to make playoffs, the generation of pools was not in their favor. They have multiple of their strongest players in pools occupied by multiple other dangerous opponents, and that hurts their chances bigtime. Central's gonna need to put in 110% into everything in order to get an extra win or two and squeak by into playoffs
Northwest Europe
10-14 Record
20 Points
-8 Differential

Similar to US West, Northwest Europe's lineup covers pretty much all of their bases quite nicely, and even has some more considerable star power, though, unfortunately, they're in a similar predicament to US Central in that a lot of their pools are all pretty rough. I absolutely think they could qualify for playoffs, though they're gonna need to put in the 110% as well.
South Europe
10-14 Record

18 Points
-8 Differential

Despite being one of the absolute favorites to make playoffs and potentially even win the tournament, not only have they been losing players left and right, they've also been forced into some pretty particularly uncomfortable pools that they are not favored to thrive in. Here's hoping an early loss from one of their best hasn't shot the team's motivation too hard. Like Central and NWEU, they're gonna need to cooperate and work together as if they never have before.
Asia
7-17 Record

14 Points
-20 Differential

The impact of the loss of DJ Breloominati and Raj is definitely showing here. Other than that, the team is actually mostly still the same. While pretty much all of their pools besides BW and DPP would be a dream for any other team, Asia stands to struggle unless they put their new players through the wringer when training them or that DEG pulls some kind of tactical sub that turns things around.
