Yet Another Team with a Heracross

It's been a while since I've been particularly active on smogon, and with college my activity significantly dropped. However, I found that since college wasn't as huge a workload as I predicted, and with Heracross dropping to UU, I found the motivation to play again.

So I wanted to base the team around Heracross, and this was the original team:

With Wish and Paralysis support:

Rapid Spin and Stealth Rock:

A bulky water or two,

And another Grass resist that could serve as a lead:

This team sucked. It was definitely weak to Heracross and general wasn't as bulky as I hoped. I needed a few walls, preferably some that could Paralyze as well. I thought of Uxie, whom I enjoyed using in OU. It could resist Heracross's more reliable STAB, set up Stealth Rock, Paralyze, and counter most other Fightings with STAB Psychic.

Next I needed some better revenge killer and Venusaur counter. I read about Primeape and it seemed perfect. It was another Fighting type that could scout with U-turn, and hit hard with Close Combat. That went over Milotic, who wasnt really doing anything.

Lanturn wasn't doing anything either, and I needed another more reliable Heracross counter. I knew Weezing was another good physical wall and never looked back.

In retrospect, this team is really three walls with a bit of a fighting based offensive core. But anyways, here is the team:

Venusaur (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Sleep Powder
- Synthesis
- Sludge Bomb
- Leaf Storm

This Venusaur is designed to be as fast as possible, while retaining a respectable amount of bulk, so it can still fire off a Sleep Powder when I need it. I chose Synthesis to take advantage of its bulk, and to provide reliable healing. Then I had to choose between a special moveset or a physical moveset. I chose a special moveset since without attacking investment, I needed powerful moves, and Leaf Storm was Venusaur's most powerful move.

Venusaur (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Sleep Powder
- Sludge Bomb
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Rock]

Originally I had Venusaur because I needed a lead who could resist Grass, but I still have not looked back. It has great utility in Sleep Powder and can shut down many slower leads. Its poison typing is also very useful, as it can serve into Fighting attacks in a pinch and hit with a powerful STAB Leaf Storm.
When I use Venusaur, I sleep anything that is slower than me, or anything I think I can take a hit from. After that I usually switch to Primeape who can scout with a Scarfed U-turn. Otherwise I switch to an appropriate wall, usually its Chansey who can take a hit from Moltres and the like and Thunder Wave it back, rendering it mostly useless.
I changed Venusaur to a Scarf variant so it could sleep many more leads. I kept the same STAB attacks, and added Hidden Power Rock to screw with Moltres. A Modest Nature is used since Timid has a scary chance not to OHKO (Modest has a 1% slight chance to leave 1 hp against 0/0 Moltres)

Thus far, Venusaur has been ok, not bad but not great. With Venusaur's huge popularity everybody is prepared for it, and they have a designated sleep absorber and such. I am up for changing Venusaur, preferably to some sort of some more effective antilead.

Weezing (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Will-o-wisp
- Flamethrower
- Pain Split
- Toxic

I chose Weezing because i needed a reliable physical wall, in particular one that could handle Heracross. Weezing's poison typing made him the perfect choice, with semirelable healing in Pain Split and a multitude of status options.
I chose a double status Weezing to take advantage of this. I wanted Will-o-Wisp which could cripple most Fighting types, or at least those without Guts. It could also cripple most physical attackers in general. However, I found that my team had trouble against bulky waters, something which I partially chose Lanturn for, so that's why I chose Toxic, since it could survive a hit from most bulky waters then Toxic back. Pain Split was chosen to increase Weezing's durability, and Flamethrower was chosen as a option that could hit Heracross.

Thus far Weezing has been very reliable. Its lack of Special Defense hurts, but that is what Chansey is for.

Primeape (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Punishment
- Stone Edge

I've been interested in Primeape for actually quite a while, ever since finding out it was one of the few UUs that could function in Ubers. It's definitely a solid Pokemon that fit perfectly into my team.
I chose the Choice Scarf version because I needed some sort of revenge killer, and Primeape's speed was quite lackluster for what I needed it to do. Primeape is usually my switch after a kill or on a blind switch, since it has great coverage and can also scout. Furthermore, as its niche in Ubers can tell, it is immune to sleep.
The moveset is mostly self-explanatory. Close Combat is its STAB option, and is great when I need a Fighting move but want to save Heracross. U-turn provides scouting. Punishment and Stone Edge are for coverage. Stone Edge is actually great, with the ability to snipe down a few Moltres and Charizard.

Primeape is great, Scarf(this)ape might just be my favorite in the team, even over Heracross.

Uxie @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- U-turn
- Thunder Wave
- Psychic
- Stealth Rock

When I was looking for a Pokemon to fill this slot, there were several criteria I wanted filled. First, it had to be a fighting resist. Then, it had to set up Stealth Rock, then it needed to be able to Thunder Wave. I thought UU basically had no options, but ironically it had the perfect one.
I chose a defensive Uxie for just those reasons. Uxie has amazing defenses and a movepool with exactly what I needed. It acts as my Stealth Rocker, switchin to most Fighting types other than Heracross, and a spreader of Thunder Wave to make Heracross's job easier. This is a standard non-scarf Lead Uxie, and I chose Psychic because it was STAB and could hit fighting types.

Uxie is great, doing exactly what I need it to do.

Chansey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Def/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Wish
- Seismic Toss
- Protect

I'm not a big UU player, so I don't know what people think of her, but I think she's awesome. I chose Chansey because I knew that basically any Heracross set took a lot of damage really fast. Chansey had Wish support that could support Heracross, and most of the team as well. Furthermore, she had Thunder Wave, slowing the opponent's team down so Heracross can outrun them. It's also the best special wall in UU, and can counter so many threats that would otherwise destroy this team. She can switch into Moltres without much of a problem, as well as other special attackers. Usually her primary job is to spread paralysis, so Heracross can handle the Pokemon later.

Chansey is awesome, and is basically the glue of this team.

Heracross (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
(29 HP IVs)
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

Finally Heracross. I always liked Heracross, unfortunately it is mostly outclassed in OU and fell to UU. But that is why I had to try it.
Many of you are probably wondering why I picked a Life Orb set, when supposedly a Guts set is superior. I picked a Life Orb set because it would reduce the damage Heracross took in a turn, and ideally a Guts boost wouldn't be hard to pick up anyways.
I chose the moveset with coverage in mind. Close Combat and Megahorn are ridiculously powerful STABs. Earthquake and Stone Edge hit Fire-types, while Earthquake can hit Poisons and Stone Edge can hit Flyings.
I don't have Night Slash because Rotom outruns Heracross anyways, and can hurt it pretty badly.

This team has gotten me around the 1500s range, and I've only lost one battle so far. I wanted some advice first before I ventured into this CRE zone.

This team seems to be weak to ghosts in general. My special wall can't really hurt ghosts at all, and neither can most of my pokemon. Mismagius in particular can be a pain, since I can't really touch it. Oddly, I have not encountered one yet.
Hitmonlee is sort of a pain since I can't paralyze it, but its checked by my physical walls.

Well that's my team, I'm actually quite a newbie at UU, but there's my team, rate/hate/steal.

If you want to start off with nice sleep, I would suggest slapping a scarf onto Venusaur and replacing Primeapes with a band. I would use these sets:

Code:
Venusaur @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Timid
Ability: Overgrow
4 HP/252 Spe/252 SAtk
- Leaf Storm
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Sleep Power

For Venusaur and this for Primeape:

Code:
Primeape @ Choice Band
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Vital Spirit
- Close Combat
- Punishment
- Stone Edge/Ice Punch
- U-turn

Even though it opens a bit of a swellow weakness, it hits everything 50% harder, which might really help kill things like Alakazam with U-turn and stuff like that. Also, I would replace Sludge Bomb with Thunderbolt on Weezing. It prevents you from being walled by Bulky waters. You can also use Flamethrowr to rape Heracross. Just my two cents.

On a side note, where did you get the pictures?

First of all, what with Charmander being the last one to post, I read this as "Yet Another Team with a Chamander". ^_^

Since Heracross is obviously going to show up on other teams as well, you need a counter on your own team. While I like the use of dual status Weezing, if it carried Flamethrower, you could use it as an actual hard counter to enemy Heracross. Will-O-Wisp is only going to piss them off, as is Toxic (what with Guts), and I strongly feel that Flamethrower can address this threat to your team.

replace sludge bomb and toxix on venusaur with thunderbolt and flamethrower. Seriously, i dont know how your weezing walls heracross when half of his moves activate guts, and sludge bomb has a 30 percent chane of doing so too. Flamethrower kills heracross just fine.

Can I Ask Why is Heracross in UU Instead of BL? Heracross is almost the same as Gallade and Lucario...
