your favorite thing to do when tired/depressed/etc.?

Well you bumped my thread so I figured I would give an update on the advice I found.

I started going on a weightlifting workout with my teacher and friend, and although the quarter is over, I am going to join Gold's Gym and start focusing on lifting more during the summer.

I started running as well with a buddy and no longer feel out of breath after a 800 meter jog. Yeah, it was pretty sad that I would before, but I just feel a lot healthier.

Speaking of health, I have dropped over 15 pounds since the day this thread was posted. I gave up much of the fat and disgusting food I was previously eating, and have started to eat much healthier. I just feel a lot better from it.

I retaught myself everything about basketball, including my dribbling and shooting mechanics. I am looking forward to trying out for the Varisty Basketball Team next year at school, and make it or not - I am glad I took the time to try and relearn it.

I decided to try and be more open and outgoing with people around me and took it upon myself to ask the girl I have liked forever out. I doubt it will work but I'm glad a lot of my feelings are being brought out of me - Forever, it felt like I was a machine or something, with no emotions.

I decided to follow the advice that so many of you gave me in this thread, of playing old video games. I found my Nintendo 64 and I am still playing many of the games I have. My friend is actually going to sell me Paper Mario and Super Mario 64 for 10 bucks total, a great deal.

I have looked everywhere for music now. I was mostly into Rap/Hip-Hop with comedy like Flight of the Conchords and Weird Al thrown in. But as I began listening to legends like Jimi Hendrix or The Beatles, I found myself hooked in completely without realizing it. Suddenly, I was listening to obscure bands and a lot of the music I found here in NP or just when people are talking. And I love it. Music really is something I just love right now.

Although it wasn't "exactly" the same as what Colin suggested, I did watch an entire season of a show, and have now found myself watching every episode. The West Wing and Psych for those interested. I am now interested in actually watching Law and Order: Criminal Intent but it will take a while.

I want to thank everyone who posted in this thread and gave advice, it really helped and meant a lot to me. I just feel much more active and social with others, and really enjoy life right now. Thanks everyone!

Not all people's lives are content and happy, so its extremely rude to laugh at a serious thread. You shoulda left that comment to yourself

Anyways when I am tired, I sleep. If I can't sleep, then I walk around with my head down because looking up hurts my eyes if im tired.

When im bored, I play video games, basketball (KD, ill own you), take a walk, look at a nice scenery, creative writing, networking, text/call, and of course porn+masturbation

When im depressed.. hmm, I write down my feelings, exercise (running, situps, pushups, sports, punching bag, etc), do something that I love and good at, listen to meaningful music (rap that makes sense), talk to your closest friend or family member (preferably one of the opposite sex because they help you fill your holes), look at something meaningful like looking up the sky or sitting in the park while enjoying the scenery.

I usually take a nap, because when I am tired I get cranky and when I'm depressed I get angry, so I take a nap knowing that I won't do anything stupid. Besides who doesn't love naps? (please tell me i'm not he only one who does this)

that too, but less basketball and writing and networking

I used to try and sleep to avoid my depression, when I had it. However, it ended up messing with my sleeping patterns and giving me insomnia, so I advise against it as a longterm solution.

Interestingly, even though I'm fully recovered from my depression etc., and find it difficult to get stressed, when I am put in a significantly stressful situation, my body's reaction is to start getting drowsy because of the stress-sleep association I induced with my sleeping-with-depression.

i find when i sleep off my problems they are still there. so i try to do sumthing that will help not only inthe prestent but in the future as well.

I.e. forums, competitive games, or more active ouside sports jogging etc.

When tired, I usually find something to do absent minded like watching tv or listening to music. I just let my mind wander and before I know it I'm asleep.

If I'm bored or depressed, I play wall-ball (lacrosse). I just got an actual goal for my birthday and can't wait to try it out.

Tired
I usually just tend to take a nap, or just lie on my bed and watch some TV.
If I'm school I try to stay awake, but most of the times that doesn't work out so well.

Bored
I usually just tend to do random things when I'm bored. Usually though, I just dance because it helps time fly by and I love doing it.

Depressed
The last 4 months have been pretty brutal on me, and I've been really depressed throughout. What I tend to do is talk to my friends about it because they're always willing to listen or help me out. Or I try to keep myself occupied so I think about my problem less. I also dance when I'm depressed, I don't know why, but it just helps relieve some of that depression, and makes me feel somewhat beter.

I'll take a bath if I can when I get depressed. I'll play games too, but usually ones that aren't that frustrating. Despite how much I love the battle frontier, losing when I'm not in a good move is just going to get myself to feel worse or throw the DS at a wall. The old games come in really handy for times like this though...

I've been known to distract myself with those little quizzes online. I found that odd site called Sporkle and it keeps me occupied for long periods of time, that helps cheer me up sometimes. That all works for being bored or angry too.

I do what the stick man in Pastel's avatar does sometimes....if I've been a good boy :/

Though I'm kinda tall so my arms would actually be lower than his and I have to get on my knees, so

Man I'm bored -.-

When you say depressed I'm sure you mean like stress/miserableness, as depression is completely different. The best way is to cycle anywhere (as long as you can get back home) as it just completely frees you of everything when there is no destination or anyhting you must do, you are exercising which releases chemicals that relieve stress, and the breeze/wind is both refreshing and relaxing. Other than that sleep, cold baths, music and (saving the best until last) friends.

1) Play a video game
2) talk to friends
3) Play my guitar
4) go for a jog
5) Do bicep curls or pushups while watching a comedy show on TV (really really helps)
6) Sleep
