I certainly hope not. I've started using it in UU, and it's been exactly what my team needed. It's been so useful.
I think most OU teams are content with using Rotom-W as an Electric type that isn't weak to ground.
 
who pairs up really nicely with zapdos? I'm really liking the offensive LO set right now. Blows through a lot of the metagame easily.
 
Brozong for starters. Many Zapdos checks are physical (Flygon, Weavile, Stoutland, Snorlax, Aerodactyl) and Brozong can handle them all pretty well with a physically defensive set. As an offensive partner, I think you want Cobalion. Cobalion puts the hurt on Clefable, Umbreon, and Snorlax, while Zapdos covers Slowbro, Suicune, and Gligar, all of which handily check a physical Cobalion.
 
Probably because of the recovery. But it has no way to muscle past its counters, which can be a problem. I usually prefer Raikou, since its Sub CM set is a bitch and a half to stop under the right conditions.
 
I used to have the same problem, until i switched thunderbolt for volt switch. If you can keep stealth rock off of the field, you can generally wear down your counters like so.

Dont roll your eyes at me yet. It can be effective, especially in a Sandsturm or Hail.
You Toxic your opponent and then keep protecting roosting and using Substitute, until the opponents Stone Edge or Ice beam runs out of PP and since Zapdos has Pressure it shouldnt take that long.
But I think its still more of a fun set that can be surprising though.
 
SubToxic Zapdos is certainly viable, but you really want to use Thunderbolt over Protect. You become complete Taunt bait with that set. Pokemon like Deoxys-D can set up all over you as well since you run no Speed. There's a SubToxic set online already and it purposefully uses maximum Speed because you can't get past Taunters without any.

It's okay that opponents can break your Subs because the most important thing is to PP stall them with Pressure.
 
I am a huge fan of SubRoost Zapdos. Having used him a lot in DPP OU he really is excellent, especially against bulky offense teams. With 252 Spe and Timid he outruns a lot of things and can easily poison and stall out/kill things like Suicune, Slowbro, Blastoise, Deoxys-D, Mew etc.
