[SET COMMENTS]
With an incredibly powerful STAB in Bolt Beak, Zekrom is a fearsome threat late-game with little defensive counterplay. In particular, since Zekrom is 4x resistant to its own Bolt Beak and gets substantial passive recovery via Poison Heal, it is able to beat Imposter users. After one use of Shift Gear, Zekrom can outspeed the entire unboosted metagame, increasing the power of its Bolt Beak to absurd levels. Knock Off punishes common defensive switch-ins such as Seismitoad and Melmetal by removing their useful items. Alternatively, Dragon Darts can be used to give Zekrom a STAB attack so that other Dragon-types cannot wall it. However, doing so means that an Imposter user can beat Zekrom, making its use require more team support. Will-O-Wisp cripples Imposter users and nets chip damage on the aforementioned defensive switch-ins; additionally, once Zekrom is poisoned, its Will-O-Wisp cannot be bounced back. Taunt is another option that prevents passive Pokemon from recovering and stops Prankster users from repeatedly removing its boosts with Haze. Alternatively, Spiky Shield can be used to safely activate Zekrom's Toxic Orb and get passive recovery. However, the other options better punish defensive switch-ins, which are generally Zekrom's greatest obstacle. An Adamant nature is used to maximize power, since Zekrom can already outspeed all relevant targets at +2.
Since Zekrom's most powerful attack is Bolt Beak, it is less useful against Ground-types and bulky Electric-resistant Pokemon such as Seismitoad and Ferrothorn. As a result, Ice-types such as Kyurem-White and Galarian Darmanitan-Z make valuable offensive partners, since they can easily beat these walls, as well as common Prankster users such as Melmetal and Snorlax, which Zekrom has a tough time breaking through without Taunt due to Bolt Beak's turn order mechanic. If using Kyurem-W or Galarian Darmanitan-Z, entry hazard control is imperative due to their weakness to Stealth Rock. Zekrom appreciates slow pivoting from Pokemon like Fur Coat Melmetal and Seismitoad to allow it to activate its Toxic Orb safely. If Zekrom is running Dragon Darts, these Pokemon can also Imposter-proof Zekrom. Finally, Zekrom appreciates being paired with Imposter Wobbuffet, which can scout for Spectral Thief or Fur Coat on Melmetal and other defensive Pokemon on the opposing team.
