big shoutouts to my slimes LRXC and DripLegend for helping me get into this tier and helping build and test a ton, Potatochan for facade tailow as well as crucify and zioziotrip for some pointers :D
it was brought to our attention that breezelord brought an illegal aipom set in game 2 (seen on turn 8). in the adv zu metagame, baton pass is limited to dry pass only, meaning that substitute + baton pass is not allowed. bringing a banned mon (gloom or quilava) results in a forfeit for that player, and this also extends to bringing illegal sets.

as a result, game 2 will be considered as a loss for breezelord, making the set 2-1 in Monai's favor, meaning that he is the true winner of the adv zu cup!

i apologize for the confusion that this caused, i should have been more diligent in checking for legal sets and not just legal mons, especially in the finals, but first and foremost, it is your duty as the participants to ensure that the teams you are loading up in tournament settings are legal.

congrats again to Monai!

Breezelord

Banned deucer.
requesting a voiding of game 2 instead of win overturn for two reasons. first, "dry pass" isn't defined. does that mean that sub+baton pass is legal to bring but i just can't baton pass subs, or does it mean that it is an illegal combo to bring period? second, there is no sort of team validator / challenge code / actual ruleset with more than just a raw dump of pokemon which would greatly help for this kind of thing. i did know about the drypass rule but just thought that meant stat boosts, i also think it wasn't particularly heally helpful in the game with how i played.

also, in the adv zu "tour banlist" linked in the op, there is literally no baton pass rule whatsoever https://pastebin.com/wpMMSr9X

so yeah i think there is a bit too much ambiguity with what "drypass" even is and notably no actual way to check, but gg either way.

im pretty sure dry pass is just supposed to mean you can't pass stats, meaning you can pass substitutes. the only tier off the top of my head that uses the term dry pass is BW OU, which sub passing is legal in. in the post for this tier it says: Baton Pass is limited to Dry Pass only in ADV ZU, and doesn't say anything about sub passing being banned, so unless its stated elsewhere this ruling seems not correct and should at worst be a deadgame, if not still a win for breezelord. also this doesn't matter but the sub pass did nothing in the game

this is correct. we definitely shoulder some of the blame here, as it was not clearly defined what exactly was meant by the term "dry pass." going forward, old gens councils will provide more description in our master posts about rules such as these to prevent similar situations in the future.

however, breezelord is still at fault for not asking for clarification if there was any doubt. this was the finals! you should be doing your due diligence to ensure that you are adhering to the rules. the ruling will not be overturned.
