On paper, the quality of the teams in this Smogon Premiere League was one of the best so far because they were all seemingly solid and no team could be considered a "free win." The Classiest's started the auction with the most amount of money thanks to trading retention rights of Soulgazer, Sinclair, Problems, and Golden Sun, while only retaining Hikari and Mr.E. Kokoloko's and -Tsunami's auction plan was trying to have one of, if not the, best ORAS core of the tournament, and a solid old gens core, which was contrary to what most teams have done in the past. Early season wasn't too hot for The Classiest, as they went with a 1-1-2 record, Kratosmana was banned for two weeks for revealing Destiny Device's team, and Raish didn't want to play for Classiest anymore after week 4due to issues with his teammates. In mid-season, Classiest traded Raish to Wolfpack for Asuya, 3k to the Raiders for The_Chaser, and bought 119 Lives and Elodin during mid-season auction. In this article you can find a recap of what happened in the first five weeks of the tournament. After mid-season, things started looking better for Classiest. They went 3-1 from week 5 to 8 and put themselves in a great position to make playoff; to be at least 4th seed in playoff Classiest needed to tie or either Scooters or Falcons to lose. What seemed like an easy task for Classiest ended up being the closest they were to be eliminated during the tournament. Falcons clinched playoff, Scooters were one win away from tying, and Classiest were down 4-6. However, this was nothing but a scare for them, because PDC defeating Stathakis in the Ruiners vs Scooters matchup allowed Classiest to qualify before playing their last two matches, which they won anyway.

Semifinals were Bigs vs Classiest, 1st vs 4th seed respectively, and Ruiners vs Falcons, 2nd vs 3rd seed respectively. Classiest were clearly the underdogs in their matchup, because they struggled to be in playoff, while the Bigs had a great season with a 7-1-1 record and they had already beat Classiest in week 3. The week started with FLCL defeating Finchinator in NU thanks to a combination of good team matchup and winning a turn 1 speedtie. Kratosmana easily beat During Summer 2-0 in RBY with a great amount of luck and significantly better plays. Bad Ass got the 3-0 for Classiest after defeating Ginku in 10 turns in a match in which he had an excellent team matchup. Mcmeghan got unlucky vs Triangles, but after some great plays and some luck going his way, he won and made the score closer. Braverius defeated Laga in a close game, giving Classiest a 3 wins advantage again. Bouduche and Destiny Device won cleanly against 199 Lives and CTC respectively, making it 4-3 in Classiest favor. Ben Gay won without much trouble, as he had a great matchup advantage thanks to Kyurem, and TheEnder missing twice with Klefki made things significantly easier. Mr.E won against Hill with Curse Snorlax, which managed to setup for free thanks to Thunder misses and Hill didn't really have any solid answer for it. The score is now 6-3 and Classiest only need one more win to be in finals. Evuelf didn't have much for Jibaku's Arceus-Dark, which forced him to rely on paralysis and luck to win, and in the end things went his way. However, Elodin still managed to clinch it for Classiest in a close game against Jirachee, which came down to Reuniclus missing Focus Blast against Hydreigon. All matches can be found here.

Finals were Classiest vs Ruiners. Once again they were the underdogs and almost everyone in the Finals thread expected them to lose. Not only that, but many people were implying Classiest did not deserve to be in finals and that Ruiners would steamroll them effortlessly.
