I've been one of the most active talkers in this thread you big stupid Apoo and Franky loving nerd

go on irc then fool

actually everyone in this topic should go on irc more often
Am i invited too :'(

And i don't agree at all with you and the serious thing. Luffy(,Zoro and Sanji) is a beast. He is extremely powerful. If he was serious all the time, it would sort of ruin the story. I know, i know. There is a time and place. I get it. But look, this arc wouldn't last more than 7 chapters if Luffy got serious and just beat the crap out of everyone. Where is the fun in that? His goofy personality let's non-uber powerful characters actually pose a threat and cause problems. If he was serious, only opponents stronger than him(Akainu, BB, DD, Kaido etc) would add anything to the story. Which then forces Oda to keep increasing the power levels. It's better for Luffy to stay this way(even during serious situations) so that different villains can actually do something.

Great chapter btw.

I actually have a question!

In this scene what is coming out of Hodi's back? Is it supposed to be Luffy's fist? Or I guess his fist beneath Hodi's skin. Because if it is one of those two I think it shows that Luffy might have lesser qualms about killing, though I doubt we'll see him kill anyone aside from Akainu or Black Beard.

Akainu and BB will not be killed. Period. Listen, a hardass like Akainu will welcome death BEFORE defeat. He will suffer a hundred times more rotting in Inpel Down for the rest of his life. Blackbeard on the other hand still has the chance of being converted. I know that sounds terrible, but this isn't Naruto so i don't expect characters to completely change their beliefs after a fight but BB is a tortured soul and he so far has not been shown to be completely evil. Just a big douche. A good beating should set him straight.

And that picture is heat. It shows that Red Hawk is FUDGING hot. Completely burning Hodys insides all the way to the other side. Which is impressive because he is a Fishman made stronger by drugz. Just showing you its really hot. Luffys fist however did not penetrate Hodys body(not 100% sure on this one though)

Sucks that he is going to get the crap beaten out of him soon. But yeah, i love how even serious villains are super goofy.

So Monet turned out to be good huh? Or at the very least the wild card here.

I don't mean he loses his goofy personality. I mean stuff like beating down CC and then standing over him while CC is still conscious and talking to his mates...that stuff has to go. He won't stand at the top of the "summit" while making dumb dumb mistakes like that.

A hardass like Akainu barely avoided death against WB, so I wouldn't say there's no way it would happen.
Honestly doubt Luffy kills anyone...just not his style.

Vergo is easily becoming one of my favorite characters at this point
YES. WHERE IS MY SWORD?! LOL.

Sucks that he is going to get the crap beaten out of him soon. But yeah, i love how even serious villains are super goofy.

Yea, I'm starting to like Vergo a lot, but it looks inevitable that he either loses place in Marines and/or gets ass whooped by Smoker and co.

Matt, look close, his back is intact. You're just seeing the "force" of Luffy's attack go through his body.
Yea, that's just the force of Luffy's attack...he didn't intend to kill Hody.

Yeah, I'm liking his two gimmicks a lot.

Also, Monet probably being good made this chapter for me, since I very easily couldn't care about the rest of it. Monet <3
Yea, Monet is awesome :P

I hope Monet doesn't turn into another Robin.
Haha, good point...The similarities are very interesting. Oda loves doing things in 2s though, so I could definitely see it happening.

I would say that Saumurai is joining the crew out of anyone considering he's following the exact pattern that everyone else followed (Robin and Brooke not included).

Upon first meeting him (or his legs rather), Luffy asked him to join the crew in which he said no to. He's tagging alone with the crew right now. He's probably going to be the one to fight Vergo I feel (how sad!!) and at the end his child is most likely not going to be in the New World and he'll have to tag along with the Strawhats.

Most follow this exact pattern as I said:
Sanji couldn't leave the Baratie due to giving his life to Zeff, so he said no, battled Gin / Pearl, and then (eventually) joined the crew.

Zoro couldn't accept becoming a pirate, Luffy kept prodding and asking, Zoro does battle with axe guy (I think??), and then joins.

Chopper said no, did battle with combo team of Wapol, and we got the greatest lines in One Piece "SHUT UP LET'S GO!"

Nami doesn't follow the pattern to a T, but she doesn't really accept the invitation to join the crew, she's just tagging along, she eventually decides to accept invitation to the crew.

Zoro and Luffy both assume Usopp joined the crew already after fighting cat man, but Luffy tells him to come along anyway, he doesn't want to leave his "crew members" but decides to go anyway.

Franky can't leave Water Seven, he helps the strawhats rescue Robin and fights what's-his-name, Iceberg + his friends tell him to go.

Brooke and Robin are exceptions, both asked to join the crew themselves. So cute :3

ANYWAY I like Samurai I want him on the crew stfu with your three swordsmen are too much, the crew needs a caretaker / father figure.

I'm firmly in the Team Monet camp.

Jinbe is the older / father figure type, and he's confirmed to join the crew.

I wouldn't mind Kinemon joining but the flying element Monet brings would add more to the crew than another swordsman.

Looks like Sanji finally gets a solo fight to redeem himself from the past couple arcs. It was still impressive to see him kick Vergo's teeth in.

On another note, Tashigi is forever being regulated by these high tier characters. Don't get me wrong she's still a strong character, being Smoker's right hand, having Haki and all that jazz, but she is frequently being used as a hypeman to make other characters seem stronger in this arc.

This is a random aside because this chap really didn't have much in it aside from Monosuke or w/e being dead (Vergo was talking about believing kidanapping > dead).

I really hope we see some super strong kicks from Sanji in the future because Nami / Robin let him grab their boobs. That would be (s)excellent.

If Sanji is good at one thing, it is his occasionally bad ass pose frames (and with all the annoying / repetitious sanji nose bleed gimmick shots in fishman, we need more of these). I'm reminded of FI when he stared down Jinbe, Enies Lobby after he beat Jyabura and the like. I'm really really hoping this remains Sanji vs. Vergo and Sanji ends up beating him :P We've seen Geppou from Sanji and Shigan from Vergo, so I'm hoping for maybe Soru / Rankyaku (Burning Diable Jambe Rankyaku?).

Poor Tashigi lmao, all she's been has been fodder to show how strong other characters are (pre timeskip in Alabasta, she got owned by Crocodile, owned by Robin, deferred to Luffy, now post time skip she got owned by Law, owned by Vergo).

I wonder what Smoker is gonna do since Luffy is basically gonna go 1 on 1 with Caesar.

Sanji's sky walk was developed independently from Geppou / rokushiki though...

I don't think Sanji would (should) have access to any of the rokushiki moves besides geppou.

Unless you're saying that during the fight with Vergo, Sanji discovers how to use Soru or Rankyaku-- then yeah, that would be very, very cool...

And considering Sanji's kicking power, Soru or Rankyaku shouldn't be unthinkable skills for him to pick up by seeing it done (in the same way Luffy developed G2 / Soru in-battle)

Yea that's what I meant, he sees Vergo do these moves and just takes them in / personalizes them. He also already experienced them pretimeskip with Jyabura, so it wouldn't bother me if he knew them regardless of Vergo either.

jabura was not a big rankyaku user though (more of a shigan and tekkai specialist). Maybe he'll get it the second time seeing it.

Jyabura had 2 specialty rankyaku's though, that bouncing on the floor one and the wolf one.

It's enough to learn :P

from the op wikia:

  • Rankyaku "Koro" (嵐脚「孤狼」 Rankyaku "Kōrō"?, literally meaning "Storm Leg: 'Lone Wolf'"): Used by Jabra in his half-wolf form. In this attack, the Rankyaku-cut skips across the ground, bouncing in curves towards the opponent.[17] In the Viz Manga, this is called Tempest Kick Lone Wolf.

  • Rankyaku "Lupus Fall" (嵐脚「群狼連星(ルプスフォール)」 Rankyaku "Rupusu Fōru"?, literally meaning "Storm Leg: 'Binary Star of Wolves'"): Used by Jabra in his half-wolf form. In this powerful attack, Jabra shoots four Rankyaku projectiles, each in the shape of a wolf, straight at the opponent. Because of their unusual shapes, these Rankyaku seem to explode upon contact rather than cutting, much like compressed air bullets rather than air blades. Jabra has honed this technique so he is able to initiate it correspondingly with Geppou.[18] In the Viz Manga, this is called Tempest Kick Lupus Fall.

Really guys, are we not forgetting the most important part? That yet another VA has shown rokushiki! This means that it is almost confirmed that all VAs should have it.. which means that the Admirals will have them! Seriously, in my opinion we have seem them show them off already(cant remember the techniques names):

Kizaru: He has shown two. The finger gun and the one to float in the air. When he attacked Hawkins to test him out... Unless he is strong enough to damage a SN with finger pokes. And when he if floating in the air before being kicked by Marco.

Aokiji: He has shown Soru when he stopped WBs tsunami.

Akainu: He used Tekkai when WB cracked him.. because if that was just his natural endurance... Then FUCK Luffy is going to have some fun.

And it's clear they can use them in fusion with their dfs, which is insane to think about.
