Nope it is different. There are two frames. The IVRNG frame and the PID RNG frame. The IVRNG frame controls the IV spread of your Pokémon. The PID RNG frame controls the shinieness, gender, nature, ability and species of your Pokémon.
The IVRNG frame always start on 1. You can advance it by x by walking 128 steps with x amount of Pokémon in your party. You can also advance it by other methods which have a consist amount of advancement frames such as withdrawing Pokémon from your PC and turning in a wild spot of Pokémon (grass I think). You can read that up in the guide. However, I recommend that you just find a seed on frame 1. Makes it a whole lot easier. If you have Timer0 C7F I can tell you two seeds which I have been constantly using ;)
