Arena: Middle of a park at midnight. Streetlamps light the park but it's dark enough to be able to fully hide away in shadows if you tried. There's a little river that runs through the middle of the park with a stone bridge above it. And a bunch of trees are in the park, scattered around the place randomly.
Today, history is made in Smogon's CAP ASB. It's our first ever multi battle!

First, LifeAdmiral will send out a Pokémon.
Then, ILoveLiza will send one out.
iiMKUltra will send out next.
Then ginganinja will release a Pokémon, and order actions.
iiMKUltra will then order actions.
ILoveLiza will order actions next.
And finally, LifeAdmiral will order actions.

After that, I will ref the round, then the battling order will change. If we number the trainers from 1 to 4 by the order they're named in the title, you'll see that the first order is 4231. It'll then go 2314, 3142, 1423, then back to 4231. Or, if it makes it any easier to remember, you'll order one turn earlier each time (unless you're ordering first, in which case you'll order last next round). I'll put the turn order up after each round to try and dispel any confusion!

Ok, Hatch! Make your way for the pond and fire an Icicle Spear at Rosey! Then use Protect to block both the Will-O-Wisp and Giga Drain (if you have to pick one, block the Giga Drain). Then shoot another Icicle Spear at Rosey!

Round 1: Start!

By day, this park is full of children playing, couples out for walks, and people just sitting on the grass, enjoying the weather. By night, though, this park is usually deserted. Tonight, four Pokémon trainers and a referee occupy it, ready for a very special battle. The first matchup is Shellder & Nohface vs. Budew & Nohface - who will come out on top?

Rose is the first Pokémon to move, focusing nutrients towards her bud with Growth. Her bud turns a more vivid shade of green - her attacks should be powered up for a while. Meanwhile, Hatch is trying to carry out his orders, but he can't see a pond anywhere! He tries to move towards the river instead, but the best he can manage is an excruciatingly slow bouncing motion... we'll come back to him later, I think.
Meanwhile, Shadow begins to Taunt Banquo, probably insulting his pathetic speed or his lack of a face or something. Enraged by the gall of his faceless opponent, Banquo seems to just want to smash something. Unfortunately for Rose, she's the one who has to bear the brunt of Banquo's anger, even though she didn't actually do anything wrong! Banquo shows Rose just what his non-face-thing can do, headbutting her hard with a powerful Meteor Mash! As Rose is flung back by the force of the blow, some of the starry material that flew out upon impact is absorbed by Banquo, boosting his attack power.
It seems that Hatch has given up his feeble attempt to reach the river. Noticing that Rose has ben floored, he adds insult to injury with five Icicle Spears. Already, Rose looks badly hurt - for how long can she withstand these attacks?

Before anyone else can move, Hatch retreats into his shell. His shell shimmers a bright green, Protecting him from attack. Rose tries to engulf him with a red wave of energy, but the Giga Drain is repelled by Hatch's Protect and rendered useless. Shadow tries a Will-o-wisp... with similar results.
Still out for blood, Banquo glows an even more intense shade of white than before, before slamming his head into Rose again! The Meteor Mash sends Rose flying back even further than the last one, and she stops just short of a birch tree.

Angry at being the only one to have taken any damage so far, Rose gathers up masses of dark energy to form a Shadow Ball, before firing it at Banquo. The shadows seep into Banquo's mind, lowering his resistance to future special attacks. Not appreciating the assault on his teammate, Hatch shoots five more sharp Icicle Spears at Rose in retaliation, knocking her back to the side of the beech tree.
More tiny floating flames come into being next to Shadow, but this time they float towards Banquo. If he had a face, I'm sure Banquo would be screaming in pain from the Will-o-wisp, but even without the aural cue, it's clear that he's been burned by those flames. It doesn't deter him from slithering towards Rose, though, whacking her with a third Meteor Mash! Rose is send hurtling back, and though she isn't sent flying quite as far back as before, it's clear that she's very badly hurt. That burn on Banquo saved her from being knocked out right then and there. And speaking of Banquo, yet more cosmic energy has been absorbed into his being following that attack, making him even more powerful.

Round 1: End!


Rose has been knocked back repeatedly by those attacks. She's just under 5 metres away from Banquo. Banquo's near the beech tree, but far away from his teammate - probably about 15 metres separate them. And somewhere in between Banquo and Hatch, a little off to the side, is Shadow.
The river isn't a factor yet. Hatch is the closest Pokémon to it, but he's still over 5 metres away, which must seem like miles to him.

Shadow Sneak Rose to knock it out as fast as possible, following that with a Faint Attack and then another Shadow Sneak, both on Shadow.
 
Hatch is a fat gay naked fisherman. He should be able to make the river in NO TIME AT ALL!

Any way Hatch, keep moving towards the rive! Use Supersonic on Shadow and follow it up with a Leer! Then use Rock Blast! If he tries to burn you again, use Protect instead! But only the first time he tries.

Firstly I want you to block the Shadow Sneak (that Banquo uses on Rose) with a Shadow Sneak of your own (hopfully dodging that Supersonic too).

Once done, Taunt that Shellder and follow up with a Will-o-wisp to burn it.

Round 2: Start!

Both Banquo and Shadow melt into the darkness as soon as the trainers have finished issuing their orders. With Banquo being a heck of a lot closer to Rose than Shadow is, it's Banquo that emerges from the shadows first, dealing the final blow to Rose with his Shadow Sneak. As Rose falls, Shadow catches up to Banquo, retaliating with a Shadow Sneak of his own.
Again, Hatch tries to reach the river, but it's just no good. His slow hopping only gets him about a metre, before he's forced to give up again. Performing a little hop that pivots his shell, he screeches at a Supersonic frequency. Despite the distance, it seems to have affected Shadow, who writhes in midair, probably cursing his lack of hands to cover his nonexistant ears.

Hatch follows this up with an intimidating Leer, but all Shadow sees is a faint red glow coming from Hatch's direction, which isn't really enough to scare anyone from that distance, let alone a Ghost. Shadow shouts some Taunt about how Hatch could never hope to match a real Ghost for intimidation, and how the fact that he hasn't been damaged yet is only because of his cowa- yeowch! Shadow is blindsided by a fierce Faint Attack from Banquo, and though it may not have done a huge amount of damage, it was certainly enough to abort Shadow's tirade of abuse. It looks like Hatch is pretty mad, but that interruption did make him chuckle a little, so he's not as angry as he would have been had he heard all the insults.

A second dive into darkness heralds another Shadow Sneak from Banquo - he smacks into his fellow Nohface and causes Shadow to fall towards the floor. Shadow soon recovers, and writhes back into the air like an eel wriggling through water. Being too angry to even think about being defensive, Hatch shoots a Rock Blast right towards Shadow. Meanwhile, Shadow sends little floating Will-o-wisps towards Hatch, the flames flickering like fireflies in the darkness of night. The five small rocks bounce off Shadow's ghostly form, causing him to wince a little. The wispy flames float gently, gravity pulling them to the ground before they get as far as Hatch, causing the flames to burn away a patch of grass before being extinguished. Shadow shakes his head, clearing it of any lingering confusion.

Shadow and Banquo are only about 3 metres apart. Hatch, though, is still roughly 15 metres away, and 5 metres from the river.

Start with a Hypnosis on the Shellder. Follow it up with a Hydro Pump at the Nohface. Finish up with a Bubblebeam on the Nohjface as well.
 
In case anyone wants to know, I've been away from my computer all of yesterday along with being drunk last night.

Anyway Hatch, time to get to the river. Use Rapid Spin to propel yourself there and then aim a Rock Blast at the Poliwag. Follow it up with a Surf to the Nohface.

o.k Shadow time to be clever. I want you to block the Rapid Spin with your own body and then shove it away from the water with a Shadow Sneak. Follow up with a second Shadow Sneak on Shellder just for kicks. Lastly, if that Hypnosis missed Shellder then BURN it with a Will-o-wisp, if the hypnosis hit, then smack the opposing Nohface with a Shadow Sneak

Round 3: Start!

With Swirly being released just a few metres away from Hatch, the Pokémon count is evened up again at two per side. Let's see what kind of a first impression our new arrival leaves on this battle!

Shadow sinks into the ground instantly, and then... oh? It looks like he's waiting for something to happen. In the meantime, the energetic and fresh Swirly locks eyes with Hatch, lulling him to sleep with Hypnosis. It doesn't look like Hatch will be attempting any crazy strategies to reach the river this round!
Suddenly, Shadow pops out of the ground right underneath Hatch with Shadow Sneak, presumably getting bored of waiting for the Rapid Spin. Oblivious, Hatch dozes on peacefully. During all this time, Banquo's been slithering slowly through the air towards the group of closely packed battlers, and finally reaching them, he starts boasting to Shadow about how he's been boldly hurling attacks left and right, and what has Shadow been doing? Using lame stalling tactics and status moves! This doesn't make a lot of sense to Shadow - wasn't the status useful? Doesn't Banquo's burn prove that? It's gotten Shadow a little muddled, but one thought the Swagger did bring to the surface was that he's a heck of a lot more powerful than Banquo's been implying!

He'll start off proving that by giving the sleeping Hatch the strongest Shadow Sneak he's ever slept through! Yeah, that'll show him! As Shellder is knocked down, all doubts about his own capabilities vanish from Shadow's mind - it looks like he's fully focused again!
With her teammate taking care of Hatch, Swirly focuses on Banquo, firing an intense Hydro Pump right at him! The powerful stream sends Banquo flying back, but he regains himself in mid-air, and sends a Will-o-wisp floating towards Shadow. The flames hit their intended target, and Shadow recoils as they touch is ghostly flesh. I tell you, if Banquo had a face, he'd be smirking - revenge is so sweet.

Shadow makes another brief foray into the shadows, before reappearing to Shadow Sneak Banquo, giving his fellow Nohface some payback of his own. As soon as Banquo recovers, he's under attack once again, this time from Swirly's BubbleBeam. Where's your teammate when you need him?? Well... still taking a snooze, it seems. I guess this round was a bit of a 2-against-1 affair too, huh? No matter - Banquo ends the round by giving Swirly a massive Lick. Hey wait, how can Banquo Lick anything without a face?? And on that bombshell, it's time to end the round...

Hi, I'm taking over for Round 4 of this crazy Multi Battle! TotalPotato is, sadly, deceased, but I'm sure he'll be back someday to haunt us!

The show starts with Swirly blasting a quick burning Scald that sizzles Banquo into fresh ghostly meat! Hatch seems to be attempting a move, but he just keeps snoozing away! Shadow takes advantage of Hatch's inactivity and gives him a deadly burn with Will-O-Wisp, cutting his physical offensive capability in half. In the shadows, Banquo moves behind Shadow's own shadow and gives him a taste of his Lick attack! The lick was so delicious that it paralyzed (20%) Shadow!

On the next action, Swirly goes up to Hatch and attempts to give him a annoying Encore, but the clam hasn't made a move yet! All that did was wake his teary eyes up and let him Rapid Spin away to the nearest river for safety measures. Meanwhile, there's Shadow roaming about and having a blast with his own nemesis - Banquo - who quickly jumps within the shadows and sneaks upon the unaware Shadow for a fast attack! Tik! That didn't seem to do too much... sadly. However, Shadow decides to not retaliate and instead float off to Hatch to afflict him with an eerie Curse! Ooooo, scary scary scary! Shadow floats backward in retreat right after though. But wait, he's slowing floating back... downward as well... almost as if he's fainting in exhaustion! That must suck!

Seeing how Hatch has plumped upon the waters, Swirly rushes over to the riverside and gives a Psychic attack a go to not only pulverize Hatch's insides, but to thrash him out of the waters and back onto the battlegrounds! CRASH! Looks like Hatch might have broke a shell, but he's still alright! But... he apparently cannot carry out his order of Diving in the waters! As Shadow has fainted, Banquo hovers toward Swirly for a tasty Lick on the face. SLURP! Tastes like seafood!

This match is far from over, but many interesting events have occurred throughout. When will that one game-changing round occur? We shall see next time!

Yeah, Will-O-Wisp and Curse (which is technically the ??? type, not Ghost-type) gave Shadow exactly 0 energy, so sorry. A_A I don't think any Pokemon got a KO counter for that (though... Shadow getting a KO counter on itself... I might grant that actually). ginganinja sends in a new Pokemon and its orders.
