Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Really need help RNGing ho-oh.... I have NO IDEA how to do it.... can someone help me please? I've found a seed i want, but i have no idea how to get there... i really need some help please
My target seed is : 5a140dc8
i dont know what the "frame" is though.
i also have latias, entei, and raikou roaming out right now.... does latias come back after beating the E4 if i kill it?

I am have trouble with checking my seed in soul silver. When I go for a high delay and input the pokemon's stats in the seed finder, I keep getting "No reasonable seed found." There are other times where I did get a delay but it is far away from my target delay (over 1000 off). I tried this for about 10 times now and the HG/SS delay box is checked. Can anyone help me?

Yeah. Check my sig and you'll have much less trouble with checking your seed;)

Can someone please check my math on this?
I am abusing Entei in burned tower, and I keep landing 3-10 frames away from my target
Actual method 1 frame 346
I hit my seed, SS to check the seed, the poke is on actual frame 9 then I add 6, for SS and battling= 15
Then I do 346-15=331, 331-6 for entei's starting frame =325 then I subtract 4 for the step I will take to encounter the dogs, and 2 phone calls to elm, thus bringing my need frame to 321/3 for the lower left radio station, as stated in OmegaDonut's mini guide.
Leaving me with 107 de-tunings, but I'm always off can some one help?

Are you on the step on the bottom floor of the burned tower, facing left, one step away from releasing the dogs? If so, I'm fairly certain the step to activate the event does not advance the RNG. That's what I experienced on several test runs, near misses, and getting the final result when I was abusing for Raikou. That doesn't explain why you should be 3-10 frames off, but it should help a bit.

I'm saved on a frame of 5 and I'm trying to RNG (breed) a machop which requires a frame 45 and delay 603. I have a GBA cart added and can hit my delay quite easily. I did not calibrate my frame with the journal open so I figure that I need to do (45 - 5) / 2 - 1 flips, which is 19 flips. The first page of my journal has a defeated message, and so does the second. I change the page of the journal 19 times (always to one with the defeated message). I constantly hit a frame 44. However if I flip 20 times (in the hope it would fix my frame calibration) I still hit frame 44. What am I doing wrong?

Save again and recalibrate it seem a npc is not moving which is causing your problem and I find it best to calibrate with the journal appearing at the beginning.

You're hitting A just a split second too early. I've found that if I don't test with the journal, then abuse with it starting up that the NPCs seem to have a short delay before they start moving. Try to wait just a short amount longer and see if that helps.

Just set the date up by atleast 2 days ahead from now. So if it's April 4th there, save on April 4th, then set the DS clock to April 6th. Don't save on April 6th, and if you want make sure that you catch a pokemon on April 4th. This way, the journal will pop up. This should remove your random frame non-advances.

Wait, so I need to make sure the journal pops up (with a defeated message) and then i collect my egg and hatch it and catch a pokemon, input the IVs etc? After that it gives me the correct frame I am on? Seeing as I'm not saving the game when calibrating how does it make a difference, seeing as I'll be changing the date later when I find a good seed and the journal will pop up again.

I'm just saying don't save on April 6th(continuing example from last post) because that will make it so the journal won't pop up on that date unless you go back to April 4th and resave on there.

Reposting questions because I got ignored:

First, what's the starting frame for the kanto/hoenn starters? Is it just the same as the johto ones?

Second, can you find out your Secret ID with only 1 red gyarados caught (since I've already caught mine)?

Finally, do you even need your Secret ID if you're not going for a shiny - just a good spread?

ok guys... I need a little help with this....

I am currently RNGing for Ho-oh... now my main question is... when saving before Ho-oh... saving on the ladder (stepping forward one step makes you go up the ladder) you cannot find any wild pokemon... so I saved one step before that, verified my seed... and proceeded to advance the frames.... so then I took one step forward (landing on the ladder) and then one more to walk up it.... expecting to land on my correct frame... but it seems I overshot it by 11.... so either
A) I miscalculated and am stupid
B) that step counts as walking where wild pokes are and therefore advances the frame by whatever ammount

and the other thing.... does stepping where wild pokes are advance by a set number per seed? (like I understand its random.... but lets say I get 2 per step... now if I try again with that seed, will it always be 2?)

EDIT: I'm on Soul Silver by the way... if it helps at all

really hate to repost... but I didn't get an answer... and it seems like quite a number of people can help me out on this one.... (pretty much anybody who has RNG Ho-oh knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about)

If you used the calling Elm method, did you take those advances into account, and if you used the radio, if you used any station other than the goldenrod theme stations (Radio Serial Drama and Pokemon Search Party I think, lower right button), the results are likely to be off. I've testsed all of them. Other than those two, none of the others are consistent. I did pretty much the same thing when I was RNG'ing Ho-oh, but since that was a while ago, I caught Ho-oh to verify my seed.

The kanto starters all start on frame 5. No you have to repeatedly catch the red gyarados to use it to check your SID, so what you do is save catch it check its IVs, then turn off your game catch it again notes its IVs and do this until you get the necessary amount. If your going for a non shiny then no you do not need your SID.

@CB Shuckle: I don't know the starting frames for those. 2) It's highly unlikely due to how the spread is generated. I'd just ask for someone to check it in the Simple Q/R thread to check it. 3) You only need your SID for shinies, so if you want to go for a flawless spread without it being shiny, then you won't need to worry about it.

@Cordinator: Do you still have the dogs/Latias out roaming? If so, I suggest you talke a look at romsstar's guide on how to use his seed finder using the dogs. It works great, and you'll be able to save right infront of Ho-oh. So you won't need to worry about random advances by walking. Sorry I can't really help you're exact question, but that's the best I can do. Also, the bottom right radio station I have found to be consistent aslong as it's not Buena's password. It only advances by 1, but by just using it to advance the frame I've never had a problem.

Pikatimer and Seed

Hey, I need some help concerning the usage of the pikatimer.

I manage to hit my delay using the timer but for some reason, my seed is always off. Simple answer as to why this may be?

I've been using the lower left button (for the most part consistently advances 3...) and have no roamers, and have checked my seed by Sweet Scenting a wild poke (yes I counted the "actual frame"+6) from where I start.... I'm gonna try again and see if I get the same frame... if so... I'll do a few less taps... and if THAT doesn't work... I'll stick to the lower left button.....

Use the calling Elm method instead. Calling him will always advance the frame by 1 and it will also verify your seed if you use the PHS program Romsstar translated.

@ Sephitachi - If this is for HGSS, try changing the calibrated second to 13. I always miss by 1 second when I use 14, but I always hit when I use 13.

Just the simple reason of button mashing is inconsistent. I prefer using Emloop because sometimes PikaTimer goes to fast(idk). Also try to re-calibrate your delay.

I have found that "Trainer Profiles" is the one that is consistent while the alternate one, "That Town, Those People" is the one that seems to be inconsistent. The easiest way to get Trainer Profiles is to either have the time on an even hour or wait for an even hour and it should advance by 3 consistently.

I haven't RNGed for a year but now I've come back after buying Heart Gold, so I am completely new to RNG in HGSS.

With this in mind, how would I RNG a Shiny Timid Natural Cure Staryu that I will use a Super Rod to find in Olivine City?
