So I guess since we have decided the ev spread Im giving this thread an activity bump - you can nominate teammates!

I'd make a nomination but as of now, I haven't kept track. Who are the teammates of this point? I see that Celebi and Rotom-W are two, but don't know anything else. Could you post all the sets on the first post?

Here is the team so far for reference

EV's: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower

670.png

Virizion @ Life Orb
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly / Naive nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge / Hidden Power [Ice]

Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Thunder Wave
- Pain Split

I'll post a nom later :)

Nominating, again, WishRachi

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 220 SDef / 32 Spe
- Wish
- Body Slam / Thunder Wave
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch / U-Turn / Stealth Rock

Not much to say, as this has been posted before. In my opinion it fits this team nearly perfectly.

hey so we have the water and grass so why not go ahead and make a fire / water / grass core?

Nominating Offensive Heatran or Specially Defensive Heatran (they're both viable, it just depends on how defensive we want our team to be, haha

either way, it provides more dragon insurance, sun insurance, and stealth rock

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice] / Dragon Pulse
- Earth Power

Heatran @ Leftovers
Nature: Calm
EVs: 248 HP / 132 SpDef / 128 Speed
- Stealth Rock / Toxic
- Lava Plume
- Protect
- Roar

The current team lacks a suitable revenge killer and is destroyed by sun teams.
I would recommend that the next teammate be a scarfed terrakion or scarfed landorus to patch this weakness up.

I think we should focus on making a solid defensive core before fitting a revenge killer. I'm not a huge fan of Heatran, since it seems to only compound this team's weakness to Latias / Latios. Specially-defensive Heatran is better than the Air Balloon Heatran imo.

I am agreeing with skidilidy that Wish Jirachi is the way to go. It provides coverage to many threats that are left uncovered, including Gengar, Reuniclus, Tornadus, Latias, Latios, and to a lesser extent Dragonite, Haxorus, and Celebi. These are all mons that gives this team trouble. Jirachi is usually a staple for balanced teams for a good reason.

Both heatran and Jirachi increase this teams weakness to sd acrobatics gliscor in the sand, as Rotom-w will find it hard to beat sand veil and at the moment it pretty much 4-0's.

Also is there any particular reason that Nidoking is running timid rather than modest, what notable mons does it outspeeds with timid?

What about a CB Mamoswine? It can take out Gliscor with ease, and is useful against Sun since it can take out Venusaur or other Chlorophyll users with Ice Shard. In addition, it's three main weaknesses are covered well by the rest of the team.

Mamoswine@Choice Band
Jolly Nature, 252Att/4Def/252Spe
Earthquake
Ice Shard
Stone Edge
Icicle Crash

I'm just going with the obvious Choice Band Scizor for this one.

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit / Quick Attack

Just your standard Choice Band Scizor, although I gave it 12 Speed EVs as opposed to 8 to outspeed other CB Scizors with 8 EVs in speed. U-Turn gives us VoltTurn, which can help wear down pokemon so Nidoking can sweep. It also packs priority, which is always nice to have. He also works well with Rotom-W, both covering each other pretty well.

Having used life orb sheer force nidoking extensively, it obviously falls short in the speed department. Due to its great coverage with 4 mvoes, life orb boost, and encourage boost power is not necessarily a problem. Therefor I believe the 2 team partners selected now should be:

1) parashuffle dragonite@leftrovers
careful 252 hp/252 spD
roost
substitute
t-wave
dragontail
its very hard to break once it gets its sub up and I've actually been able to paralyze full teams quite easily with this. Dragontail actually still packs a punch to frail foes who resist it (ie. infernape, terakion) and those who are weak to it (dragons). There's nothing better than seeing an opposing dragonite come in, have its multi-scale broken by stealth rock and be ko'd/be put in ko range by stealth next time it comes in from the shuffling dragontail provides.

2) physically defensive Zapdos@leftovers
bold 248 hp/236 def/24 spe
t-bolt
hp ice
roar
roost
Another bulky mon capable of self-recovery and parashuffling some more. Residual damage will really add up through Zapdos' roar and dragonite's dragontail. With t-bolt, hidden power ice, roar and roost this zapdos can take on heavy-hitters like azumarillm, scizor and gyarados quite well that come in to try and ko nidoking with their stab moves.

The 2 also provide the defensive backbone of the team, along with whever we decide on to provide hazards. Zapdos for physical attacks, dragonite for special. As stated in its analysis, parashuffle dragonite is 16% more bulky than max hp/0 sp d blissey. Keep in mind that both these pokes are also immune to ground, which Nidoking dreads. The main problem is that 3 pokes will be weak to ice.

If I may do so myself

Looking at the team atm I think we could use some physical backup - Skarmory imo is the best way to go. Physically (or spD!) defensive Skarmory provides a much needed ground resistance for nidoking, while also stopping many opposing physical attackers. Skarmory also gives the team hazard support - perfect for the current offensive core we have atm. I'm thinking:

Skarmory @ Leftovers
252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe | Impish
-Spikes
-Roost
-Whirlwind
-Brave Bird

any thoughts?

Skarmory definitely works - it does leave the team bare on the special defense side, though. This means that it can't deal with Tornadus, Latios, Reuniclus, etc, despite the Steel-type resistances. This is why I personally prefer Jirachi, because

1) offers solid defense on both sides
2) not only provides paralysis support, but also Wish-healing.

At the moment, I think this team needs more paralysis support other than Rotom-W. Jirachi is set-up fodder for Ground, Steel, and Water types, but that's cue for Rotom-W and Virizion.

Parashuffler DNite and Zapdos is great defensive utility mons, DISBIT. It seems that your team relied a lot on hazards and Rapid Spin support to keep Dragonite's MultiScale intact. Seeing how we lack these elements on our team right now, not too sure if I want to include them in this particular team at the moment.

True - Jirachi does provide walling support on both sides, though sometimes it can be disappointing on the physical side, i.e. you don't wall Conkeldurr and friends like Skarmory - you can't wall everything though, and Wish support is a big factor.

FItting those categories, we could always try and use support Gyarados - the original set is in IronBullet93's Fable I believe, I will get the spread shortly. Gyarados, again, provides a Fighting resistance, decent mixed walling capabilities, and paralysis support and Taunt.

edit: that spread is

Gyarados@Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Thunder Wave
- Dragon Tail
- Taunt

though admittedly Pocket and I can tweak with it as needed.

Lol, yea, Jirachi + Gyarados is like peanut butter & jelly :d

Gyarados + Jirachi together shuts down physical Dragons, so dragons are covered by this combo. Physical Fighting, Bug, and Ground-type moves that Jirachi hates are all also easily absorbed by Gyarados. Gyarados also shuts down Fire-types like Infernape and Volcarona with relative ease. Jirachi's Wishes keeps Gyarados healthy without losing half of its moveset on Rest Talk.

This core both hates dealing with Rotom-W and other powerful Water mons, though, so Virizion and Rotom-W can pick up the slack when it comes to those mons I guess. Gyarados sort of makes the team more vulnerable to Volt-Turn combo as a result, but I think with the current line-up it wont be too horrible...

I guess I'll follow skidilidy's cue and nominate the Jirachi + Gyarados core:

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 240 SpD / 16 Spe
Careful Nature (+SpD, -SpA)
~ Iron Head
~ Thunder Wave / Body Slam
~ Wish
~ Fire Punch / U-turn / Stealth Rock

and

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpA)
~ Waterfall
~ Dragon Tail
~ Thunder Wave
~ Taunt

ah I like that idea very much, i didn't even think of the two together but now that you think of it they do make a very nice defensive pair! Honestly I think Jirachi would be better off with Body Slam since the team will have 2 Paralysis supporters, both of whom are bulky enough to come in more than once and do what they need to. In addition it's also a good thing to have Normal's coverage. At the very least Ground-types are also paralyzed if we use Body Slam. Things like Landorus switching in will be much less of a threat if we do that (and there's also the off-chance that you paralyze an incoming Gliscor before its Toxic Orb activates)!

So yeah definitely supporting that combination, if anyone else has any nominations they will have until THIS SATURDAY to post them!

edit: Dan Dan, that is, again, an interesting idea, though in all honestly just go go along with general procedures we should just wait until we have selected the last few teammates.

also i changed the date to saturday for the deadline.

I think with the core of Jirachi, Gyarados and Rotom spreading Paralysis, Hydreigon would make a great final member of the team. It can keep momentum with U-turn, has perfect coverage with Focus Blast + Dark Pulse and of course a deadly Draco Meteor. With Paralysis support, there's no question that you could dump more EVs into bulk instead of speed since it has a great typing that can be taken advantage of too.

Hydreigon (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 196 HP / 252 SAtk / 60 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Focus Blast
- U-turn
- Dark Pulse

I came to nominate Gyarados, but it seems I've been beaten to it :o. Here's a Dragonite set I've been using, I'm not really sure what to call it, but I think it suits the team nicely.

149.png

Dragonite @ Life Orb
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 120 HP / 252 SpA / 136 Spe
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Thunder Wave
- Roost

It's kind of a spin on Celebi's Tinkerbell set. This set is great at spreading paralisys, and its a pretty good answer to sun teams which the team is currently weak to imo. I think this set would work well paired with Jirachi

Nice, thanks for the updated ballot, Zurich

Jirachi (Wish)

Jirachi + Gyarados is an awesome core, but I am not totally bought that it's the best fit for this team, since Gyarados is a relatively high-maintenance mon, with its SR weakness and being Volt Switch bait.
