Huh? I don't see how we would exhaust the pokemon. You don't HAVE to switch, and even if you choose to switch, there'd be no reason you can't use a pokemon done by somebody else. Each person is going to do the rap differently, so I don't think it would cause any problem. Especially not in one set of battles, where we're only going to have maybe 4 or 5 rounds max.

I guess you can't switch to a pokemon that somebody else is using that round, but in that case it'd be first come first serve just like when we first picked.

Again, I think it would allow a lot more variety, since you can do the rap in a different style. We should be encouraging diversity in the self-promotion part of the rap as well, and not just the dissing part.

as long as the bolded part is true, I'd be fine with switching. I was just thinking about the future if we ever do any more of these, I'd hate to see all the interesting pokemon used up in one go.

Just a suggestion, but for the sake of keeping the ball rolling and striking while the iron is still hot, you might want to set a firm deadline soon X5Dragon. Those of us who are active are ready to move on whenever you are. Those who don't have the time or are too lazy are going to continue to not have the time or be lazy. If you let this drag too long those of us who are active are probably going to lose interest or have things come up.

Personally, I'd really love to see this make it all the way to the end. Considering that this community has made the karaoke contest work for multiple rounds now, this could very well be the start of a fun new tradition.

I agree wholeheartedly with mattj, you can never run out of material and rap styles change with the beat and flow, etc especially for any one tourney.

However, since we didn't specify this and a lot of users expressed their wish to try repping someone else, I think it's OK if we let those who want to choose a second mon in keeping with the pokemon theme of double battles. However:

1) You only get to choose another mon in the addition to the one you've already chosen and you can only alternate between the two

2) You need to announce which mon your using before the round ends or during the voting period, otherwise if you qualify for later rounds your mon will be the last represented

3) You cannot choose a mon(s) selected by other players.

About the deadline, we had set an entire week and no one asked for an extension (submitting beats doesn't count as you can submit them during entry), if you cannot even manage to make a lyrical entry before the end of Monday then I'm afraid you'll have better luck at later tournaments which will be held hopefully by members of smogon at regular intervals throughout the year so don't feel left out.

So then... Who do people choose to rap against if they have two different pokemon that they're free to change between? Do they have to pick one at the start of each round, or what?

I really don't understand why we can't just pick a different pokemon at the start of each round if we want to.

As I've said, sure the material changes with the new opponent, but these raps usually have two components to them: The self-praise and the dissing. You can only do so much with each pokemon. Allowing us to switch lets us choose a new perspective and have new things to rap about when it comes to our pokemon, and it doesn't just become entirely dissing the other pokemon.

There's also plenty of material to play around, because the same things can be said in different ways, there is no wai your gonna use up all the material for one pokemon in a single tournament and your opponent changes each round.

Can we choose mons that have been eliminated in earlier rounds?

I mean I guess you could choose 'mons that have won previous tournaments in the future.
