Gallade (Bulk Up)

Uh, Gallade's defenses are terrible so it's really hard to switch in to something. When I used him and tested out the SD set, I was forced to come in on a revenge kill or something like a Scarfed Ttar locked into Crunch or Pursuit, not even switching in because Gallade would take a lot even on a resisted hit.

Yes that means you can't even switch in on Blissey because you might get hit by Twave or Toxic.

There's a reason Lucario doesn't have a BU Drain Punch set. It's because it's outclassed by the SD set. Lucario has better defenses AND resistances, and while Gallade may not be weak to Gliscor's EQ, it can still Taunt you to prevent you from setting up more BUs while +1 Psycho Cut only does 33%. Gallade's defenses are just too pitiful to set up something as slow boosting as Bulk Up.
 
I'm going to reiterate what panamaxis said a week ago on this same topic: can you please show us a row of consecutive logs with this set of Gallade in action? Non-cherry picked logs, please.

Here's the idea. You bring the first 5-10 logs. If it's actually a decent and reliable set, it won't be terrible in those logs. Otherwise, no dice.

I do have, not a clear but a perfect idea of what I asked for. The purpose for not cherry-picking the logs, and yet getting a consecutive row of them, is that that way you'll show how the set that you're testing works under normal conditions in which it should be able to prove what it is supposed to do. Otherwise, if you just post here the logs in which Gallade did perfectly fine against the common Pokemon and teams out there, you're not doing anything but 'trying to demonstrate that it is viable'. Therefore, by doing this, you indirectly attempt to back your statements and prove that the proposed set reaches the "required standards" for a set to be on the site, as well.
I hope this was clear enough.
 
iirc, this set was posted before a long time ago and was rejected due to drain punch's low PP.

has anyone tested bulk up gallade with pain split yet?
 
Eh, the main problem I see with this set is that Gallade has both, Swords Dance to boost faster, and Will-O-Wisp for defending better. I'm not advocating the use of Will-O-Wisp on Gallade, but honestly, I'd much rather use that.

Sounds cool, but we're dealing with 70% accuracy, and not doing anything to Gengar and Rotom, who are Gallade's most common switch-ins by far.

I've played with it plenty today and I'll be the first to admit it's not the second coming of Jesus, but that's why Gallade is BL. This is about as good as Bulk Up sets get, and probably about as much use as you're going to get out of Gallade in OU

I omitted a few logs where I got swept by something I didn't prepare for, which obviously has nothing to do with Gallade. Matches I outright lost despite the use of Gallade weren't purposely omitted, but I have a habit of clicking X right after the match unless I felt my opponent really deserved a gg, so you won't see any of those here. Of course, this also means that some of my more awesome runs were omitted too, but hey, what can you do.

I think I'll do like 5 more testing out Shadow Sneak and other stuff in a minute. Just look out for any edits or new posts.

I talked this over with panamaxis, and we consider that this set of Gallade looks promising overall. However, we will give it a period of tests before making our final decision. We'll get back with results soon.
 
Okay, bit late, sorry about this!
My thoughts:
Gallade lacks the resistances to come in a lot. It isn't "frail" but it doesn't have the necessary resistances to come in either so I'd rather use SD in nearly every case.

This gets a (late) no from me.

I did my tests as well, and talked it over with panamaxis. In most of the cases, SD would have been better, and that was pretty much the most relevant problem, apart from what panamaxis mentioned regarding its resistance to switch in on attacks.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to vote against the addition of this set to Gallade's on-site analysis. Don't hesitate to try again the future with a different proposal for QC, though.
