Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Latios is the nuke, Lucario is the cleaner. In terms of synergy, Lati checks Keld, Mana, Mega Venu/Amoong, and bulky mons that can check Lucario, while Lucario threatens Dark and Steel types that threaten Latios.
Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Hammer Arm
- Bullet Punch
Mega Metagross obviously checks Latios very well, and although it doesn't switch into Lucario too well, it does take a Close Combat followed by Extremepeed, and easily OHKOs Lucario from full health with Hammer Arm.
252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Metagross: 126-149 (41.8 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 256-303 (85.6 - 101.3%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Metagross: 175-208 (58.1 - 69.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Metagross: 39-47 (12.9 - 15.6%) -- possible 7HKO
252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Hammer Arm vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Lucario: 418-494 (148.7 - 175.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Oblivion (Houndoom) @ Houndoominite
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Sludge Bomb / Super Fang / whatever
Due to its hazard weakness and relative fragility, Houndoom can't really switch into anything the core wants to throw at it besides Lucario's Crunch or Iron Tail, or Latios's Psyshock if it's already Mega Evolved, but once it Megas it is able to outspeed both Pokemon and tears apart the core with Fire Blast and Dark Pulse respectively. Lucario's Extreme Speed also doesn't OHKO from full without prior damage, even at +2.
There's no bias here, I swear it.
Breaking Me Down (Absol) @ Absolite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 32 SpA / 224 Spe
Jolly / Naive Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Fire Blast / Ice Beam / Pursuit
- Superpower
Obviosusly Mega Absol can't switch into either of these Pokemon, but it is faster than both & can OHKO Latios with Sucker or Knock Off and eliminate Lucario with a welll-timed Superpower.
Weavile can almost never switch into these two pokemons (bar Latios' Psyshock) but in return outspeeds them and cleanly OHKOes both monsters in a row and Lucario's Extremespeed can never OHKO in return even with two Life Orb recoils. P.S. Weavile doesn't use your Mega slot and provide strong&fast Ice coverage.
252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Low Kick (80 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Lucario: 286-338 (101.7 - 120.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Weavile: 156-185 (55.5 - 65.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 468-554 (156.5 - 185.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Icicle Crash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 413-486 (138.1 - 162.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Scarf Kyurem-B can easily outrun the two and OHKO Latios with Outrage or nearly KO it after Stealth Rocks with Ice Beam. It can't guarantee the OHKO on Lucario with Earth Power, but it comes pretty close. It's Outrage guarantee a 2HKO on it however so it wouldn't dare try to "sponge" it.
Diancie can switch in on a potential Draco Meteor or Roost from Latios and on an Extreme Speed or Swords Dance from Lucario. From there it mega evolves safely with Protect and then KOs both mons with Moonblast and Earth Power. The worst Diancie has to take is take is a possible Psyshock from Latios and E-speed from Lucario barely does anything.
Gengar can come in on any move lucario wants to throw at it besides the coverage move, which is the least used move on the moveset, and OHKO it with focus blast. It speed ties at worst with latios, and it can slow down lati with icy wind if need be as well as OHKOing it with sball, but lati probably won't switch into gengar willingly unless it's literally the team's only way to kill gengar and they can't afford to keep in like a ttar vs gengar or something.
Lando-T does not really like to come in on a Draco but lives Psyshock , outspeeds and can deal great damage with U-Turn (while getting some momentum) or even OHKO with Knock Off after Rocks dmg. Lucaro does nothing to Lando after Intimidate and gets OHKO'd by EQ
252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 333-394 (104.3 - 123.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Latios Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Landorus-T: 187-220 (58.6 - 68.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
-1 252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Landorus-T: 90-107 (28.2 - 33.5%) -- 0.1% chance to 3HKO
-1 252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Iron Tail vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Landorus-T: 152-179 (47.6 - 56.1%) -- 79.3% chance to 2HKO
252 Atk Landorus-T U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 200-236 (66.8 - 78.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Landorus-T Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 276-326 (92.3 - 109%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Lucario: 474-558 (168.6 - 198.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Neither of the pokes can touch this unless Lucario is Crunch variant. Shedinja can switch in freely on Latios. If you get a free switch in with this on Lucario, Will-O-Wisp on the turn you are scouting for Crunch. If it has Crunch, fine, sash will preserve and Lucario will be crippled by burn and the core is rekt.
This core really struggles dealing with rock types and dark types that can beat lucario, so scarf keldeo is a really amazing addition to the core since it can actually beat every single one of the listed threats if they switch into keldeo, and keldeo is an excellent check to most of the threats listed here while wearing down thundurus with hydro/scald. The core is still 6-0'd by shedinja if lucario doesn't have crunch lol, but that thing's usage is extremely low. kekke
Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off / Superpower
Azumarill is able to threaten Pokemon such as Mega Diancie, Gengar and Excadrill with priority Aqua Jet while also smacking switch-ins hard with its STAB moves. Azumarill can also check Weavile although it hates losing its item to Knock Off. Azumarill also appreciates Latios and Lucario checking Ferrothorn, Mega Venusaur and Amoongus. Meanwhile, Lucario can opt to run Crunch to lure bulky Psychics such as Celebi, Mew and Slowbro which gives trouble to it.
Those Pokemon were something similar to what I RMT'd recently (ayyy down below lol), M-Manectric provides a solid bird check as CM Latios / Lucario are really threatened by the likes of Talonflame / Mega Pinsir / Staraptor. Manectric would be able to switch in if predicted properly soaking up the hit for the two. Manectric also is a good offensive pivot with Volt Switch, maintaining momentum when predicting a switch. For example, Volt Switching on a incoming Heatran to set Lucario up for a kill or possibly force another switch on the opposing side. The set above is pretty standard, nothing much to say about it.
Houndoom @ Houndoominite
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb
This team really lacks a speed factor to combat threats like Gengar and Serperior who absolutely decimate this core, Gengar if it wins the Speed Tie with Latios and can beat Lucario through coverage. It tears them apart including opposing Lati's and others in the 110-115 Speed Tier.
Manaphy really beneficts of this core, Lucario being able to nuke Clef which can leave a +3 scald, and Latios can get rid off bulky grass types such as Mega Venu and Amoonguss, also can deal with Keldeo which can check Manaphy. Between the three offers great sinergy.
Feraligatr makes a fantastic partner for this core. After a DD it outspeeds (except the scarfers which don't KO it anyway) and beats every single mon on the threat list one-on-one: waterfall for Thundy, Lando, Exca, Diancie, Houndoom; crunch for Shedinja, Gengar, M-Meta; superpower for M-Tar, Kyube, Weavile, Absol. Lum berry absorbs Thundurus' T-wave, the only downside over life orb being that M-Metagross is only a 2HKO and you "only" have a 75% and 87.5% chance to OHKO Kyurem-B and Thundurus respectively (both obviously guaranteed after rocks). So alternatively you can run life orb to cleanly OHKO every member of the threat list at +1.
More generally speaking, with DD Feraligatr brings speed to an otherwise not-amazingly-fast core, provides an alternative wincon for additional offensive pressure, and has good type synergy both defensively and offensively as the three beat each other's checks and counters.
I've built with this exact core a few weeks back, just a slightly different version, and SD + SR Landorus-T is a fantastic partner. As the core is meant to be used on a more offensive build, a lot of pressure should be put on the opposing team, no matter the playstyle. After a single boost, Landorus-T is capable of breaking down checks to SD Lucario such as bulky Grounds and Waters, allowing it to clean fairly easily. The original core was fairly slow and defensive synergy was limited, and Landorus-T functioned as a general Excadrill, Mega Lopunny, Talonflame, and other physical attackers in general check, while keeping up as much momentum as possible. Something that wasn't mentioned in the description of the core was that Latios is susceptible to Pursuit trappers like T-Tar and Weavile, giving Luke free set-up opportunities, and potentially Landorus-T to continue to break down teams by itself.
Crawdaunt @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Crabhammer
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet
Manectric is good against offense, fat steels and most grass types while Crawdaunt threatens bulky psychics and grounds that can switch into Manectric. Pretty classic offense killer + fatmon killer type of core
After Mega Evolving, which it does without much effort against Crawdaunt since it 4x resists Aqua Jet, Mega Sceptile tears apart the core with its dual STABs. Dragon Pulse OHKOs Crawdaunt after Life Orb damage so it doesn't have to lower its Special Attack (even though Leaf Storm OHKOs even at -2) and secures the OHKO against Manectric with Leaf Storm after Rocks. It can also get a boost from Volt Switch or Thunderbolt, but watch out for Hidden Power Ice.
252 SpA Mega Sceptile Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Manectric: 277-327 (98.5 - 116.3%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Mega Sceptile Leaf Storm vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Crawdaunt: 744-876 (277.6 - 326.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Mega Sceptile Dragon Pulse vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Crawdaunt: 244-288 (91 - 107.4%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
Venu is one of the defensive mons you have to watch out for with this core. It's able to check both members thanks to it's Grass typing, Thick Fat, not having an item, and its bulk. From there, it can defeat both members with Giga Drain and heal up with Synthesis when needed. It does have to watch out if Rocks are up though, as Crawdaunt is able to outspeed and 2HKO with Knock Off after a little prior damage.
