New core! Since nobody has been changing the exact sets upon adding partners I'll be experimenting with slashes now.

Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Ice Punch / Crunch
- Superpower / Fire Punch

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD
Calm Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Clear Smog

Nice type synergy akin to Scarftar + Mega Venu, but in this case Amoonguss supports Mega Tar by switching into a bunch of its checks like Keldeo, Mega Diancie, Hippo, etc.

I think it was SketchUp who posted this core in the old good cores thread although I could be wrong. I'll try to find it later

Discuss threats

Infernape @ Life Orb
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 100 Atk / 156 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Close Combat
- Fire Blast
- Gunk Shot
- Mach Punch

Infernape can switch into either of the mons in this core barring spore from amoong or stone edge from ttar, and hit them both with its super effective STABS really hard.
168 Atk Life Orb Infernape Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Tyranitar: 567-676 (166.2 - 198.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
168 Atk Life Orb Iron Fist Infernape Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Tyranitar: 234-281 (68.6 - 82.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and 3 layers of Spikes (if ur into spikes stacking)
0 SpA Amoonguss Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Infernape: 126-148 (43 - 50.5%) -- 2.3% chance to 2HKO
88 SpA Life Orb Infernape Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 120 SpD Amoonguss: 361-429 (83.5 - 99.3%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Banned deucer.
This post is reserved for Tyrantrum.

Destroyer (Tyrantrum) @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Superpower

It's petty simple what Tyrantrum does to this core. Superpower easily OHKO's Tyranitar, while Amoonguss is completely obliterated by a STAB Head Smash.

252+ Atk Choice Band Tyrantrum Superpower vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Tyranitar: 576-680 (168.9 - 199.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 136 Def Amoonguss: 432-508 (100 - 117.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute

Alakazam has a fabulous chance to OHKO Amoonguss with Psychic or set up a Substitute on it's Spore and better it's matchup against Tyranitar, by having 2 chances to hit it with a Focus Blast.

252 SpA Mega Alakazam Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Tyranitar in Sand: 376-444 (110.2 - 130.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Mega Alakazam Psychic vs. 252 HP / 120+ SpD Amoonguss: 350-414 (81 - 95.8%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Medicham @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Zen Headbutt
- Fake Out
- Ice Punch

Medicham is a huge threat to this core. Able to beat both Amoon and Tyranitar provided that Tyranitar has not boosted, unless Mega Medicham misses :pirate:.

LOL What cals its a fucking Mega Medicham

Gallade-Mega (M) @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt
- Knock Off

Mega Gallade outspeeds and has a good chance to OHKO both members of this core, and can even come in on Tyranitar's Crunch for an Attack boost before mega-evolving. It can also potentially scare out both members of the core to set up a Swords Dance and start sweeping.

252 Atk Mega Gallade Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Tyranitar: 660-780 (193.5 - 228.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Mega Gallade Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 136 Def Amoonguss: 354-416 (81.9 - 96.2%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Tornadus-Therian @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 76 Atk / 180 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Hurricane
- Superpower
- U-turn
- Taunt

Tornadus-T outspeeds and OHKOes both members of the core with Superpower and Hurricane respectively. It can also use U-turn to gain momentum. However, Torn-T dislikes switching into Spore and cannot handle a boosted Tyranitar.

better design than char x (Charizard) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

Obviously Charizard Y can't switch in to Tyranitar's Stone Edge and can't handle a boosted one, as +1 Stone Edge OHKOs more than 4 times over, but if it isn't boosted it easily obliterates the core. It can stop Tyranitar's Sand and OHKOs it with Focus Blast (even in Sand). Amoonguss has no chance, getting obliterated by Fire Blast, and does pathetic damage with Sludge Bomb. Doesn't like being put to sleep, but Charizard can Roost off any damage once it wakes up.

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 120 SpD Amoonguss in Sun: 656-774 (151.8 - 179.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Tyranitar in Sand: 348-412 (102 - 120.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 252 Atk Mega Tyranitar Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 1428-1680 (480.8 - 565.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
lol

Hawlucha @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 12 HP / 252 Atk / 244 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Acrobatics

Outruns and deals tons of damage to both targets. Acrobatics 2HKOes Amoongus pretty easily without an item, and Hawlucha can make sure Amoongus can only Sludge Bomb thanks to Substitute, as none of Gus's other attacks break the sub (Sludge Bomb does 41-49%). High Jump Kick obviously OHKOes TTar.

Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- Taunt

Standard gengar ohkos ttar and is more or less immune to amoongus unless he has foul play

Mega Metagross

Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk/ 4 Def/ 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Meteor Mash
-Zen Headbutt
-Hammer Arm
-Bullet Punch

Mega Meta outspeeds and OHKOs both members of the core (after rocks). It only loses if it switches into Amoonguss as it Spores or switches into Mega Tar (a variant that has Crunch) as it sets up a Dragon Dance.

Cobalion @ Leftovers / Chople Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 140 HP / 116 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Taunt / Substitute
- Stealth Rock / Volt Switch / Toxic / Swords Dance / Magnet Rise / Who cares

Any Cobalion set with either Sub or Taunt checks both members of this core. Tyranitar is easily outsped and OHKOed, and while Cobalion is OHKOed by +1 Superpower, Chople Berry lets it take one, thus switching in on TTar pretty well. Amoonguss can't touch Cobalion at all without HP Fire and just gets Iron Headed to death.

112 Atk Cobalion Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Tyranitar: 372-444 (109 - 130.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 Atk Mega Tyranitar Fire Punch vs. 140 HP / 0 Def Cobalion: 236-278 (65.9 - 77.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 Atk Mega Tyranitar Superpower vs. 140 HP / 0 Def Chople Berry Cobalion: 187-221 (52.2 - 61.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 SpA Amoonguss Giga Drain vs. 140 HP / 0 SpD Cobalion: 46-55 (12.8 - 15.3%) -- possibly the worst move ever (lol)

Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Foul Play

Not a popular mon at the moment lol but Mega-Sableye completely walls this core. Amoongus does literally nothing and can't even use spore thanks to magic bounce, while Sab knocks of its black sludge and wears it down with will-o-wisp. Mega-Tyranitar hates burns - even if Sableye has already mega evolved and has to take a hit before burning, stone edge is only a chance to 2HKO, after burning Sab can just wear it down with burn and foul play while recovering off any damage.

252 Atk Mega Tyranitar Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 112 Def Mega Sableye: 147-174 (48.3 - 57.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after sandstorm damage

252 Atk burned Mega Tyranitar Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 112 Def Mega Sableye: 73-87 (24 - 28.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after sandstorm damage

0 Atk Mega Sableye Foul Play vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Tyranitar: 65-77 (19 - 22.5%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after burn damage

0 SpA Amoonguss Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 144+ SpD Mega Sableye: 51-61 (16.7 - 20%) -- possible 5HKO

0 Atk Mega Sableye Foul Play vs. 252 HP / 136+ Def Amoonguss: 82-97 (18.9 - 22.4%) -- possible 5HKO

Hoopa-U @ Life Orb
Ability: Magician
EVs: 160 Atk / 96 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Gunk Shot

Hoopa-U has outspeeds and OHKOs both members of the core, and only loses against +1 T-Tar.

96 SpA Life Orb Hoopa Unbound Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Tyranitar in Sand: 437-515 (128.1 - 151%) -- guaranteed OHKO
96 SpA Life Orb Hoopa Unbound Psychic vs. 252 HP / 120 SpD Amoonguss: 445-525 (103 - 121.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Physical Tyranitar

formerly Marquis of Blaze
Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

Although it cannot switch into Stone Edge or a boosted Tyranitar, Mega Charizard Y is capable to destroying the core if Focus Blast hits and kills Tyranitar-Mega. Mega Charizard Y will have no trouble with Amoonguss and can OHKO Mega Tyranitar, but if Focus Blast misses, Mega Charizard Y is dead.

Can't believe nobody did these yet.
1)

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 88 HP / 220 Atk / 4 Def / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Bounce
- Waterfall
- Substitute

Gyarados sets up a Substitute in front of Amoongus who can't break it. It then sets up and OHKOes Amoongus and Mega Tyranitar with +1 Bounce and Waterfall, taking into account Stealth Rock.

2)

Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Iron Tail / Ice Punch

Lucario outspeeds and OHKOes Mega Tyranitar with Close Combat. It also survives any hit from Amoongus (and is immune to Clear Smog!). Then, it OHKOes Amoongus with +2 Iron Tail / Ice Punch. Jolly Nature is used because getting outsped by Mamoswine and Hoopa-U is very bad for Lucario.

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze

Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

yo Recreant already did this one

Mega-Heracross

Heracross @ Heracronite
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Pin Missile
- Rock Blast
- Substitute/Swords Dance

Mega Heracross 2HKOs Amoongus with Pin Missle behind a sub or OHKOs Amoongus if its at +2 and can wreck Tyranitar completely. Not to mention Heracross' impressive bulk (for worse case scenario situations)

Braille (Talonflame) @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance
- Roost

Other than being a good partner to literally every core, SD Talonflame is able to break down bulky walls, patch up the Fighting-type weakness, and can revenge kill a lot of threats to the core, such as Mega Heracross, Mega Medicham, Mega Pinsir, Mega Alakazam, Hawlucha, and Tornadus. Amoonguss is able to handle Rotom-W, Hippowdon, and other bulky Water-types, while Tyranitar takes on most Electric-types that give Talonflame trouble. Talonflame makes the core a bit weaker to Manaphy and Tyrantrum, so make sure to have teammates that can handle them.

Choice Scarf Victini

Victini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- U-turn/Final Gambit
- Zen Headbutt

It helps with the weakness of the core to Mega Pinsir, Gengar, Hoopa-U, Mega Metagross, Mega Gardevoir, Lucario, Gyarados, Cobalion, Mega Charizard-Y while also revengekilling many stuff such as Manaphy, Mega Altaria, Mega Sableye and Infernape/fighting types.

Rotom-Heat @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Trick

Scarf Rotom-Heat has a neat synergy with this core, with its unique set of resistances covering many of the core's weaknesses, most notably ice, bug, steel and ground, and also fairy, fire, grass, flying. In return Amoongus covers its water weakness. It does stack a water weakness with Tyranitar but with a scarf it outspeeds water types such as Keldeo and pivots into Amoongus while dealing STAB super effective volt switch damage in the process. It can check most of the threat list with its STABs - Tornadus, CharY, Hawlucha, M-Metagross, Cobalion, Manaphy, Gyarados, Lucario, M-Pinsir - and anything it is threatened by it can just outspeed and pivot into the appropriate check, getting enough chip damage with volt switch in the process so it can KO next time with overheat. It's even immune to Sableye's Will-O-Wisp.
