I wonder if the box cloning glitch would still work. I'm exited either way.

It won't, since the only reason it worked was because it saved when you switched boxes. As it doesn't do this any more, the glitch won't happen.
But I'm pretty sure that they will use D/P/Pt's basic game engine, meaning that the GTS cloning glitch may be present.

Anyway, I'm going to import Soul Silver once it comes out in the USA.

Soul Silver because Lugia's cooler...kinda (partly because SR cuts 50% of Ho-oh's HP and it doesn't get physical Shadow Ball anymore, but then again new sprites might change my mind), and sounds so...fitting. Also chances are it will have Skarmory as an exclusive and Skarm >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mantine

I'm hoping the two legendary birds aren't exclusives or I'll cry.

Gym TM revamps (I don't know the numbers so bear with me here) speculation:
- Falkner: Pluck. In the original you get Mud Slap iirc which is really odd. I don't think Aerial Ace would be fitting for something early in the game but only time will tell I guess
- Bugsy: U-turn. Hey, if Roark got Stealth Rock...
- Whitney: Attract. No change
- Morty: Shadow Ball. No change
- Chuck: Focus Punch. With Dynamicpunch gone FP takes its place. There are more reasons I think FP will take over Brick break/Drain punch but i'll stop here
- Jasmine: Iron Tail. No change
- Pryce: Avalanche. What else could it be?
- Clair: Dragon Pulse. With Dragonbreath out and re-replaced by Thunderbolt, Dragon Pulse seems most logical. Also, let's consider that Clair's JP name is Ibuki, which translates to breath iirc. She makes a reference "no, it has nothing to do with my own breath" (which lost its meaning kinda in English). Dragon Pulse fits in well as the description says "shockwave created by gaping mouth" or something like that, which I suppose ties back to the whole breath thingy

In like another 2 or 3 years I bet there'll be a RSE remake xD

How about a FRLG remake? Flaming Fire Red and Grassy Leaf Green...

What bites most is the looooong wait before HGSS release...

Also PLEASE let there be rebattleable Gym Leaders, Battle Frontier and Vs. Recorder. Those were such amazing features that only existed in the "third game" of that generation.

I've never played Gold/Silver/Crystal, so these are going to be like brand new games to me :o)

Perhaps the US will finally have a Celebi that can be caught ingame as well.

There's no reason not to, now we have Wi-Fi and DSi Store. They'll give us the GS Ball in one way or another.

edit: aragornbird, i've heard some pretty promising evidence that there'll be new stock art for GSC pokemon, so that could be indicative of new sprites, also

I'll likely get Soul Silver, though since the first Pokemon game I played was Crystal, I have no particular attachment to either Gold or Silver, and Ho-oh's pretty awesome...

I only remember that the Persian statues are security cameras and that you must press the middle button first during Radio Tower Takeover, lol.

Also you know how in FireRed and stuff you can go to the Sevii Islands? I hope in Heart Gold and Soul Silver you can access the Orange League. Wouldn't that be sweet!!

I don't think stuff like Shadow Ball or Attract, which has become in the years wide-available TMs (i.e. Casino and Battle Frontier stuff) will become TM. Much like Lt.Surge Thunderbolt changed to Shock Wave, I think we'll see:
1) Whitney giving away Facade instead of Attract
2) Morty giving away Shadow Claw instead of Shadow Ball
3) Jasmine giving away Flash Cannon istead of Iron Tail
Oh, And I think Drain Punch is more probable than Focus Punch for Chuck, but, aside from that, nothing else.

I'm wondering if they will be reusing Jimmy and Marina's sprites, and ??? who looks a great deal like Paul, which I guess was just another hint at a G/S remake, or give us 3 totally new characters.

I really can't wait to do the bug catching contests.

I remember the first time I played the game, before computers were widespread and you could GameFAQ any problem, I couldn't even get through the game because I could never find the freaking Waterfall HM.

I'm definately getting soul silver, i had silver when i was younger and spent about 10 weeks pocket money paying my parents off so i could get it early, and well Lugia is just so cool. I'm so happy they've finally come to their senses sadly it'll be some time till its released in England.

Yeah, this was bugging me when people were all 'wow, i love Ho-oh so I'm getting Gold.'

The only difference is that on Gold Ho-oh was at level 40 and on Silver he was level 70 and vice-versa.

Not sure if it will still be the case though since RS and DP have gone down the version exclusive route.
