Mafia vs Village Jojo's Bizarre Mafia: Stardust Crusaders. Game Ora - Dio is Avenged

GG friends. Thanks to boodan!!! and Asek for hosting. Aside from losing track of day/night phases, you guys did fine.

Good job, town. If there wasn't any confusion about Shubaka we would've had a clean sweep. Oh well. At that point, we would've had to fuck up really bad to lose.

We had strong town leaders in von and shade, and even Walrein did a good job with the process of elimination near the end and getting the confirmed townies sheeted. I can't help but feel like mafia kinda got the short end of the stick in terms of balance.

In any case, I'm just glad I got to live longer than n1 this time lol

i requested to be village so the player imbalance is at least partially my bad

gj village, especially oddish and aubisio for stepping up as newer players and taking charge of the endgame

i finally led a village to victory while being village myself, great success

Jal you shoulda just shot Pancake instead of stabbing us, Pancake was one of our safer guys too so it hit us hard. Would have been a closer game probably.

What was Avdol's powerup supposed to be if the Hol shot happened?

Good shit, I literally did nothing all game and got killed n1 but it's okay cuz we take the W. :O good job village leaders for getting rid of all scum! What a severe change of pace from NOC's where myslynches ahoy and constant betrayal is rampant D: looking forward to the next OC. Also official mafia wen???

You took too long to get back to me so I never had a kill to use on pancake. pancake's alt told me you guys would think about it and then never got back to me so I just went along with who von told me to kill because I figured if it was avdol great, if not, no worries because I would just join village in the end. Granted I don't think I did warn you guys that I was using my one kill that night, but there was no opportunity for me to since I was never contacted after I learned what von's plan was for me.

I did not account for von killing himself or for the mafia to just never kill after I became a neutral. If things went a little differently then it was easy game for me or at least a lot easier lol. as it happened idk if the mafia was just killing the same targets as i was or what (pancake told me you guys knew who the tracker was so I just assumed that's who you guys were killing...) but them killing no one from night 4 onwards made things impossible. the village + me ended up killing more village than the actual mafia did smh

even though I'm really salty about the crusader's luck during this game, it was a well-hosted game by Asek and boodan!!! (thank you!) and there were certainly some interesting dynamics during the game. The balancing wasn't amazing, especially after Pilo accidentally scumslipped (it happens to the best of us) but overall I enjoyed this. :) thanks!!

I am curious to see the game spreadsheet!

I have a little time to be more comprehensive beyond just some quick thoughts that I wanted to get out. Overall I think the game was fine. I haven't really looked too hard at roles or anything but they mostly seemed to be pretty unique and not cookie-cutter which is nice. I don't know if the mafia was weak this game or if they just played bad. From what I saw I lean towards the latter, but maybe there was something behind the scenes I don't know about. Most people seemed to be active and that was good. Lots of people seemed to be involved which is also good. It's nice seeing people taking things seriously and thinking about the game but yeah.

I have no complaints about my role. Arguably a neutral who only has a kill is pretty darn weak, but the fact is that I should never be in that position because I should be joining the mafia or the village! My preference was to join the village anyways since I think it's easier to win as village, and they had a pretty strong setup anyways with von as for sure confirmed leader. I claimed my actual role, just not the alignment changing parts. I knew it was suspicious but I felt it better to be upfront instead of having to worry about random trackers if I claimed something like BPV. Maybe this hurt me in an endgame situation, but my plan never involved ever being in that situation. N2 von told me to kill rssp1, and I felt that either way was a win/win because if he's Avdol, I have an in with the village, if he's mafia then it works towards village endgame goal which would also be mine.

Unfortunately, von fucked me over by getting himself killed (my understanding of the situation). I have no idea why he thought it was a good idea to target a kill at someone who claimed to be a redirector and who was told to redirect a kill towards him. I mean, okay, I understand the idea behind it and it's not a bad one. Oh wait, fucking expert killers. These things are still lame as fuck and they screwed me again. So I take it back, it's not von's fault. It's the fucking expert killer. Fuck you expert killer. worst role ever

If von doesn't randomly I'm setup to win pretty handily. I can even afford to be mislynched, although the mafia just decided not to kill after day 4 (all kills after were mine AFAIK). I don't know if they double targeted or what the mafia were doing at this point, but it wasn't killing. From talking to pancake, he told me that they were killing the village tracker (as a reason for me not to be worried about killing him?) so I figured it was always safe to off whoever was leading. In the end, TIK just had a good read on the game and there was just no way I was going to manage 3 mislynches at 6 left. Maybe 5 was doable, but it was always going to be way too hard. Oh well. GG village probably deserved it for doing a good job of keeping things together even after the people who were in charge kept dying. I think shade is MVP for doing that, and TIK did good in reading the end game.

I felt bad about "moling" pancake, but like I said before, the mafia were screwing me around and I didn't have time for them to decide whether to accept my deal or not. Maybe I could've convinced von to let me kill pancake (I knew the alt was his given that he joined a bunch of rooms he normally joined) but idk. It just sucked I didn't have another chance to discuss with him to let him know my offer was on a timer. After I shot rssp1 I had no kills left so I couldn't kill pancake after that. Maybe endgame I shouldn't reveal him and just idle instead of trying to seem village. That's probably my best plan just to get more mislynches and make things harder for the village which I should've realized I needed to do. I will admit that I legitimately believed that Flyhn was village which is why I tried to turn the vote on him instead of Blazade. I think I could've gotten blazade lynched too given his role was pretty suspect but mayb not. End game was too hard given that there was only my kill a night. Game would've been a lot more interesting if the village's numbers were whittled down faster, but as it happened, 1 for 1 was way too beneficial for village and I couldn't overcome.

moral of story is mafia pls use ur nightkill help me out pls and fuk expert killers gg friends

The only mistake I made that night was that I should have expert killed Flyhn. I personally wanted to kill BT out of paranoia, not totally trusting any of our other killers.

A little postgame from a host. I will follow the kind of formula blazade used in his recent games postgame, as I enjoyed reading that one very much
Game Design
RODAN and I wanted to make a mafia that was as true to the flavour as possibile. Nearly every role was a direct use of a power displayed by characters within stardust crusaders, maybe twisted a little to make it compatible with a mafia design. This made game design a rather straight forward process, with the hardest descisions probably being which members of the cast to leave out and which ones to include. From there it was basically taking the stand ability of each character and 'mafiazing' it. This made the game have lots of cool and unique roles that RODAN and i were pretty proud of creating. I think this made balancing overall hard, and the mafia definitely looks like it was a weaker faction compared to town, but I'm sure the way the game played had a bit to do with this as well.

As a team, we decided the town should have a lot of power to influence the lynch. There were town roles revolving around removing and granting votes, the lynchguard which doubled as an inspect, and obviously the DIO lynch kill. This was implemented to help prevent the mafia from pushing a DIO lynch and autowinning, but could also work to the mafias favour if they managed to get these lynch mechanics to work in their favour. I think we may have given village too much inspect power though. Village was also stacked in potential kills, but a lot of these were made to be conditional or one offs; a shot is probably the greatest power for any role to have, and we wanted especially for village to feel like there was a great deal of descision making and risk going on with each shot used.

Mafia was based on being strong individually. The flavour for this game showcases each character revolving in and out of focus for certain episodes; one week may be a jotaro ep, next week polnareff takes on the bad guy etc. As such, they should all be able to be strong on an individual level. This is also why the kill restriction was placed; nobody gets the spotlight for 2 weeks in a row! Other than that it was basically applying the character and stand ability of each to a mafia setting.

The neutral within this game looks a bit weird, but let me explain. The neutral was mainly here to throw off people who would try solve the game relying on knowledge of the source (for those who dont know, hol horse ends up siding with DIO in the source after doubting his allegiance) This was probably the role I was most proud of. It looks very weak on paper, but I think in practise it was quite potent. By having an ability to join either main faction, hol horse could effectively play the field and appeal to both parties interests early on, and if he flipped to one faction he was in a good position to be a mole on the other. In reality, I never expected hol horse to join a winning village or mafia team (i felt like mafia would only trust him with avdols identity in desperation, and if dio was still alive by D4 they were probably hiding and village would of had trouble creating lynches whilst his identity was unknown). The situation where hol horse went neutral was what I was expecting in most scenarios, and by effectively getting village and mafia trust, could work with that to a potential victory.

When it came to role assignments and teams: that was RODANS job, and the only request we had was twin asking for mafia, and as internet was in the same channel where he did this, we had to team them as a collective. @boodan!!! can elabaroate on role assingments if he wants to.

In hindsight there are things I would of done differently. I would of supplied mafia with full fake roles and names, rather than just providing safe fake name claims. I felt like people who were familar with the source picked out very accurately roles that did not fill the profile of the character they were meant to be portraying, which lead to some easy scum picks, noticably BT. I may have also removed the mafia restriction for not being able to kill on consecutive nights, but made BT's expert kill a one off. Probably would of given mafia some kind of way through which to get the DIO lynch off Apparently I'm also meant to use gdoc sheets or something to help me organise the game? Whatever. My pen and paper updates went down alright. I don't have a sheet for you to see what happened on each night. Sorry!

Game as it happened
Cycle1 (including N0-N1): Pilo claims his actual role name to von, von uses it to prove hes DIO. Twin ragequits over this (fuck you twin) leading to B_T subbing into a pretty poor scenario to help us out (godbless him). Great opening for village. What town didnt know was that the mafia had actually tried to inspect shade on N0, which lead to him having inspection powers that night, further swinging momentum to village as he inspected mithril and catches him as scum. Mafia had however used the role doubler on the inspection, and found haruno to be a tracker on N0, and decided to kill him instead of expert killing von. This was fairly clever: harunos role was one of the more directly powerful ones on the village faction. On the village side of things, shubaka on N1 asks 'are internet and vonfiedler on the same team?'. Due to internet being 'possesed' by shade, he got a positive result on this, which should clear up for some of you why internet appeared clean for a time.

Cycle2: Clear cut lynch for the village from shades possesed inspect result revealing mithril as scum. Behind the scenes, Von establishes a town circle consitsting of him, shade, cancerous and tropius. Within that circle, von posted a very good solve, and seemed like he generally had a good grip on the game in general. Where he fucked up however was in the direction of roles. This night got quite messy, and the chain of big events went like: Jalmont shot RSSP1, Blue_Tornado used mafia kill on vonf, which lead to it being absorbed by cancerous, leaving von unprotected for the lower prio kill seen when oddish shot flyhn who redirected it to von. Obviously von got quite unlucky here, but this cycle left the game wide open. Also of note is that this is the last cycle where the mafia actually killed someone.

Cycle3: Shade assumes control of the village after vons death, and quickly organises a lynch against BT, who von wanted dead the night before. Shades role was a very powerful one for village leading, and he took advantage of it quite well. Lots of village cleaning going on, the sheet was pretty bang on as well. Clean hooker was definitely a boon that would be seen in play during the night. Jalmont had established contact with the mafia by this point; I believe he had discovered pancakes identity as well, which would be important on the following day. During the night, mafia had their kill directed to shubaka, which was a sketchy at best choice in all honesty, but it didnt go through as aubisio hooked pancake, who was supposed to perform the kill. Rest of the actions were pretty standard stuff, nothing much to note. Walrein does revive von fiedler tho

Cycle4: No kill, but hey von is back! Jalmont at this point sells out pancake to the village, leading to the lynch of the mafia member that was the least suspicious at this point in the game. Its also at the start of this cycle that Jalmont converts to a neutral: he now has unlimited shots and effectively an in with the village circle for the pancake lynch. Pancakes all purpose BPV goes off, and von ends up using his expert kill to finish him off during the night. This night was another interesting one: internet and flyhn both decide to target shade, despite seeing what had happened to internet. Fortunately, jalmont ended up shooting shade on this night, which definitely worked in both his and the mafias favour. Von returns to the grave after killing pancake, leading to the need for another villager to stand up

Cycle5: Walrein steps up to the plate, immediatly deciding that shubaka / flyhn are the lynch targets for today. After flip flopping between the 2 and hearing a pretty flimsy defense from flyhn, shubaka is decided on, and becomes the first and only mislynch for the game. Night cycle sees Jalmont killing, but the mafia deciding to idle which sets the pattern for the rest of the game

Cycle6 onwards: Town leaders of oddish, TIK and aubisio close the game out by eliminating the remaining scum. Mafia never uses a kill, so its basically Jalmont being the only one causing any chaos. All in all, the remaining village were very efficient in finding and lynching the remaining scum, leading to a win with 4 town members still being up. Congrats!

Thoughts on game overall: Village played excellently. I don't think there was a single stage in the game where they lacked a capable leader, and were very efficient in lynches and use of night actions, so props to you guys for that. Mafia was dealt a shit hand pretty much from the D1 flip, so sorry to you guys. I think you made the best of what you could, but village definitely deserved to take this one out. Jalmont played very well in my opinion: probably the strongest individual performance of the game, and if mafia hadnt of idled those kills I think a scenario where he won outright was very feasible.

Role Notes + Player reports

Town

THE_IRON_KENYAN / Tropius - Pet shop
Dear TIK

You are Pet Shop

Unique in being the only Falcon stand user, you watch over your master DIO from above. You are unrelentless in your protection of DIO, and will not stop pursuing your target once acquired. Your stand, Horus gives you the ability to create ice out of nothing.

Using the power of Horus, you may freeze somebody once each night. In doing so, their voice shall be unheard at the next lynch, and they shall not be permitted to vote. To use this power, PM the hosts with NX Freeze (user)

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated
Pet shop was given a scummy role on purpose. This role was meant to look scum and lead to village cleans being needed to prove it was townie. Pretty standard and boring role compared to a lot of the others, but every game needs those.

TIK wasnt very engaged in the game, but when it came down to it he was the figurehead leading the village in the succesful end game lynches. Guess it was an easy win for him

Zorbees + Nico? / Yeti - Oingo Boingo Twins
Dear zorbees

You are Boingo

You know that Oingo is Nico?

You and Oingo’s younger brother and you never leave his side. With your strong bond, you create plots that utilize both of your unique talents to defeat your enemies. Your stand, Thoth grants you the ability to read the future with 100% accuracy through a mystic manga.

You currently have no ability

If Oingo dies during the Night, you will use your stand's ability to to read about the future of whoever you desire. In doing so, you will gain their full role PM and alliance. Your stand is 100% accurate, so this inspection will always succeed and will always reveal the truth. To use this action, PM the hosts with NX Read (user).

If Oingo dies during the Day, you will gain an extra vote

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated.
Dear Nico?

You are Oingo

You know that Boingo is zorbees

You are Boingo's older brother and guardian, never leaving your little brother's side. With your strong bond, you create plots that utilize both of your unique talents to defeat your enemies. Your stand, Khnum grants you the ability to copy peoples faces.

You currently have no ability

If Boingo dies during the Night, you will morph into the role that killed him. You will receive the full role PM. You will still be allied with Dio’s Army.

If Boingo dies during the Day, you will gain an extra vote

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated

Twin roles are cool! I think they have a possibility to help a newer player get immersed in mafia a lot easier, which unfortunately didnt occur here. The alternative power ups for the way in which the other twin died was a mechanic RODAN and I were pretty proud of, and overall I thought these 2 were some of the better designed roles we had, unfortunatly we didnt get to see either a lynch or a death of the twins.

Zorbees and Nico? just played along really. Nico? afk'd and yeti took over, whilst zorbees only time in the spotlight was when he demanded inspects on him so the town sent the power roles to nico instead. good shit. Overall good play from zorbees.

Blazade - allessi
Dear Blazade

You are Alessi

A weak and cowardly man, you cannot stand dealing with other adults. You are a truly crazy character, taking a bizarre pleasure in your perverted power. Your stand, Sethan assists you greatly, allowing you to revert the age of those within close proximity..

Using the power of Sethan, you may reverse somebody's age once each night. In doing so, that user will not be able to be lynched the next day, as nobody would dare lynch a child! Instead of being lynched, if that user has the most votes their Role PM shall be posted in the thread. To use this power, PM the hosts with NX Revert (user)

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated.

Alessi's power is to revert adults into children, which is kind of hard to convert to a mafia format. We decided to make it so that this ability would make the target immune to lynching, with death penalty being illegal for children under a certain age after all. Alessi's unique lynchguard was something we foresaw creating tension in village. In order to prove it they had to trust him and lynch who he says hes protecting, otherwise it looks like a scum trying to push onto a villager for whatever reason. It was a means of inspection that we thought would be cool if village utilized, which they never got around to doing.

If theres one player in this game i felt truly sorry for it was blazade. This man tried to lead you since D1 by proving himself through a lynch protect on himself, but all he got was frozen, hooked, the lot. A rough game for sure, and you didnt really get to make an impact because of that. Bad luck mate, you played as good as you could.

Normark / Aubisio - Mariah
Dear Nomark

You are Mariah

A beautiful young woman, you have devoted your talents and services to your love, DIO. With your natural looks and seduction skills, you lure your unwitting victims into your traps. Your stand Bastet, allows you to magnetize anything that you want.

Using the power of Bastet, you may make a user magnetic once each night. This will cause them to be weighed down heavily with magnetic objects, preventing from performing any night actions. To use the ability, PM the hosts with NX Magnetize (User)

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated.
Mariah is a girl. The hooker is a girl . Put those 2 together and we had a pretty easy role to create. Nothing interesting was really going on here.

Normak and Aubisio played fine. Nomark got himself cleaned through the shade target, then Aubisio helped clean up the endgame. The block on the pancake kill wasnt game swining given the target IMO, but nice work guys.

Oddish. - Cameo
Dear SomewhatOddish

You are Cameo

You are one of the many stand users seeking the wealth and glory that DIO is offering to those who can best the crusaders. You are however different from the others, in that you lack physical power, and as such have to use your wits to achieve your ends. Your stand, Judgement appears before the unaware, proposing to grant them any wish that they desire, and twisting this wish to suit your goals.

Using Judgements wish granting abilities, you may choose to bestow upon yourself 2 great powers. During N0, PM the hosts with your 2 selections out of the following abilities. These abilities will then become one time use powers you may use at your leisure: protect a user from a kill / kill a user / inspect a user and gain his ability / redirect a user's night abilities at yourself / silence a user from posting in the thread for one day.

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated.

Cameos ability is to grant wishes that turn against the people who wish for them. If he uses this power for his own good, surely it gives him whatever he wants! Well.... with restrictions of cource. This lead to the concept of having wishes at the start of the game, which manifested into one time use abilities. I love JOAT roles. Limiting the amount of times you can use something places such a greater emphasis on using your abilities at the correct time, and having the further choice of having to choose which powers you gained made this role even better in that regard imo.

Oddish played quite well. Part of the competent village leading seen towards the endgame, uses your abilities efficiently (the flyhn reflect was nothing on you), and was a solid contributor all around. Good job!

Walrein - Enya Geil
Dear Walrein

You are Enya Geil

DIO’s most trusted advisor, you are an old shriveled fortune teller. You granted DIO his stand powers with your special bow and arrow, and taught him how to utilise his unique powers. Your stand, Justice, allows you to control bodies, dead or alive completely, with a mystic fog.

Using the power of Justice, you may bring a dead ally back from the grave. One time in the game you can PM the host with NX Revive (user), and that user will be brought back to life for a single cycle (Day + Night).

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated

Enya's stand allows for her to reanimate corpses and control people through orfices using a special fog. This power lead to a natural conclucion that enya should have some kind of ability to revive users. When deciding how to balance it, there was the flavorful option that enyas revivee stayed alive until she was killed, or the more balanced one that was a 1 cycle revive, with the latter being the end design.

Walrein used his ability wisely, but some of his village leading was questionable to me at least. He relied very heavily on knowledge of the source material when it came to solving the game, which was imo a dangerous road to head down, and could of had bad consequences for the village long term. When we spoke in PM he seemed to be very keen on a PoE situation, with only certain groups being able to be scum. It made sense if this was 100% faithful to the show, but come on that would give people the knowledge of the source a too big of an advantage! The switch to shubaka for the lynch was also bizarre, given how paper thin flyhns defence was really. I will give props to walreins organisation though, and he was a capable village head even though he was only in charge for 1 day

Shubaka17 - Telence T D'arby
Dear shubaka17

You are Telence T. D’Arby

The younger brother of Daniel, you have already surpassed him in terms of power. Instead of gambling, you chose to hone your talents in video game, and have become a gaming prodigy at a young age. Your stand, Atum is very similar to his, taking away losing opponents souls. However, your stand may also read the minds of others, and allows you to receive the answers to YES/ NO format questions through this power.

During the night cycle, you may use the power of Atum to PM the hosts with a question that can be answered with either a YES / NO response. This question must be related to the game, and you will only receive YES or NO as an answer. You will receive the answer at the end of the night cycle.

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated.

Telence's power involves asking questions mentally about others, and receiving a yes or no answer from their conscience directly, making it impossibile to deceive him. This translated quite well into a YES / NO answer role for the village, and was an easy role to create.

I think you let a power this simple get to you shubaka. You asked quite a few bizarro questions, and whilst the N1 question wasnt all on you, some of the others were pretty strange. You should have just kept the questions simple, and tried to get the trust of the village through a straight scum find. Chin up tho, your relatively new so I hope this was a learning experience for you!

shade - anubis
Dear shade

You are Anubis

Your user died many millennia ago, and you survive as a stand without an owner, staying in the world by binding with a cursed sword. To achieve your means, you possess anybody who unsheathes you into being a puppet for your actions. After every fight you become stronger and smarter, never losing to the same technique more than once.

Using your power to possess others, you must wait before somebody finds you before you may take action against your enemies. If a member of the Crusaders attacks you, you shall possess them and their action shall fail. Additionally, you gain the ability to use their ability the following night, but will gain no information other than what the ability is.

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated.
Anubis's ability is to possess anybody who unsheathes him (he is a cursed sword). This ability lead to the creation of one of coolest roles RODAN and I thought of, with the ability to take control of mafia abilities and finding out what exactly they had being very cool, whilst remaining invincilble to mafia, granting the village an effective village leader at all times if they trusted him and the neut didnt fire. This role was definitely overpowered in practise, but it was a lot of fun seeing it play out

shade had a great game. Using his role to clean villagers and create a large town circle, effective leading on the lynches and overall took over from von very cleanly and kept up the momentum the town had. From the conversation we had, shade had a good grip on the game and how it should play out, overall up there with von for village mvp

Cancerous - Vanilla Ice
Dear Cancerous

You are Vanilla Ice

Having the full trust and faith of DIO, you are his most loyal and closest servant. Having displayed your utmost loyalty upon killing yourself for your master, he has revived you with the gift of vampirism to continue serving him. Your stand, Cream, will swallow anything and everything, sending whatever is swallowed to another dimension.

Using the power of Cream, you may swallow somebody to protect them in your alternate dimension. In doing so, they will be protected from all night actions. To use this power, PM the hosts with NX Swallow (User).

Additionally, if the target you swallow is targeted by an unblockable ability, you will step forth and become the target instead. This only applies to abilities that pierce bodyguard effects.

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated.

Vanilla ice's ability lets him swallow himself or others and protect (or kill them) through stashing them in a void. Given the fact that he is also literally DIO's bodyguard, the conversion to a staight BG was too easy to not make, so thats the route we took.

Cancerous played well. Did what he had to do by sitting on von, absorbed a kill for him, and although he died early, he managed to get into village circle from the get go and had an overall good game.

Rssp1 - Daniel J D'arby
Dear rssp1

You are Daniel J. D'Arby

The older of the D’arby brothers, you roam the world and play games of chance against unwitting suspects. The thrill you get from gambling and staking it all is what you live for. Your stand, Osiris takes the souls of those you defeat, which you use to create a collection of those you have defeated.

Because you love to gamble so much, your ability hinges on the fact you win.

Every day you must PM the host with DX CALL Heads/Tails, if you call it correctly you will be able to kill the upcoming night.

To kill PM the host with NX Kill (user)

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated.

This is the role RODAN was most proud of, so I feel like he should speak about it. RODAN!!! if u see this tag, ill let you elaborate on daniel because I know he was your baby.

Rssp got forced into the standoff with jalmont that he unfortunatly, would never win due to jalmont having a higher action priority. Oh well! He played fine and submitted himself to his overlord, unfortunate you had to die so early.

VonFiedler - DIO
Dear vonFiedler

You are DIO.

You are the eternal nemesis of the Joestar family, and will not rest until their lineage is erased and your future secured. You have taken control of a Joestar body, and with your vampiric powers, seek to obtain world domination. Fittingly, your stand The World, is the most powerful of all, having the ability to stop time for extended periods of time.

You are the being keeping the village united. Your sphere of influence is unmatched. Therefore, if you get lynched the game ends.

With the powers of The World, you have various powerful abilities at your disposal. You may choose to use the power of The World to inspect a user 1 time, as well as kill a user 1 time, however you may not use both in the same night. To use these powers, PM the hosts with NX Inspect / kill (user). Your kill is also unblockable!

Additionally, using your time manipulating abilities, you have the ability to end the day cycle one time. This may be done at any time during the day cycle, and the user with the most votes when you choose to end the day cycle will be lynched. To use this ability, PM the hosts (preferably on irc / discord for this one!) with ZA WARUDO.

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated.

DIO is the most powerful character in the world during part 3. Nodody except jotaro stands a chance against him, so we made DIO extremely overloaded. Perhaps too overloaded in hindsight. His ability to end the day cycle comes from his signature ability to stop time, his unblockable kill comes from his ability to summon roadrollers at will, and his inspection comes from his ability to use the same kind of spirit photography as joseph joestar. This role was basically a JOAT on steroids.

Von played extremely well. The pilo play obviously let him become credible as the village leader immediatly, but the organisation of the town circle and the solve posted by von so early were really spot on. The use of the abilities were well timed as well, and the only mark against him are that night 2 could of been executed better. I think overall however, von was the village MVP, which suits the DIO character as well.

Haruno - N'Dhoul
Dear Haruno

You are N’Doul

You are a blind man, with a fanatical zeal for your lord and master Dio. Utilizing your other senses, you can see the world in ways that those using only their eyes could never dream of. Your stand Geb, takes the form of water that you can manipulate, most often taking the form of a razor sharp claw.

Using the power of Geb, you may use your superhuman senses to track somebody during the night. Using this power, Geb will reveal who your target visited during the night cycle. To use this power, PM the hosts NX Track (user)

You are allied with Dio’s Army. You win when all threats to the village are eliminated.

N'Dhouls blind, so he uses his stand to track enemy movements. This lead to a pretty basic creation of a tracker ability from his ability. Another vanilla role.

Haruno was unlucky to die so early and wasnt able to do anything really. Sorry mate!

Mafia
Flyhn - Jean Pierre Polnareff
Dear Flyhn

You are Jean Pierre Polnareff

A Frenchman with a striking pompadour, you have a penchant for bizarre poses and bathroom disasters. You are defined by a strong sense of honour, as well as a feeling of duty towards your companions. You join the crusaders plight to avenge your sister’s death to the man with 2 right hands, as well as to redeem yourself for allowing Dio to take control of your mind. Your stand, Silver Chariot possesses great speed and precision, taking the form of a humanoid jouster.

Using the power of Silver Chariot, you can deflect an enemy stand attack with a powerful riposte once each night. This will allow you to redirect any ability used on you during the night cycle onto another user. PM the hosts with NX (username) and any actions directed at you will be redirected to that user.

Additionally, you may perform your teams nightly kill. When you are designated to do so, Silver Chariots speed will grant the kill a higher action priority, however it will not receive priority over bodyguard effects. When performing the nightly kill, you may not use your night action.

You are allied with the Stardust Crusaders. You win either when Dio is lynched, or when all threats to the crusaders are eliminated.
Polnareff is a character whos main power comes through his speed. He hits before the enemy has a chance to attack, and as such we decided his kill should have the ability to be too fast to track, but shouldnt be fast enough to pierce a BG. The ability to reflect things comes from the typical jousters riposte, which was displayed a few times in the series.

Flyhn played OK. Idling the kills was a big mistake, I don't think you had a realistic chance of winning by playing as townie for an extended period as you attempted. The target on shade was a big???? tho. I can see why you did what you did in your position though, and overall it was a fine game.

internet - Joseph Joestar
Dear internet

You are Joseph Joestar

You are a veteran fighter, a master of the Vampire Eliminating Hamon, as well as stand techniques. The oldest and most experienced of the group, you join your grandson Jotaro, in the quest to save your daughter Holly from Dio’s curse. Your stand, Hermit Purple takes the form of purple vines, and allows you to capture images of faraway locations.

Using the power of Hermit Purple, you may take a spirit photograph of 1 user each night. This photograph will reveal the full role PM of the targeted user. To use this power, PM the hosts with NX Target (User).

Due to the non combat nature of your stand and the relative lack of vampires in this adventure, you are unable to perform your team's kill during the night cycle.

You are allied with the Stardust Crusaders. You win either when Dio is lynched, or when all threats to the crusaders are eliminated.
Josephs ability allows him to take photographs of far away locations, as well as manipulate other pieces of technology to show him what he desires. It has no real combat functions, so Joseph wasn't given the ability to perform the team kill in the game. The full inspect comes from the ability to see others without their detection through the photography and other pieces of technology. This was meant to be a mafia role that could mole village, whilst gathering useful info for mafia in reality.

internet got screwed over by inspecting shade N0. This was really bad for village. But I can't get my head around why he would try inspect shade again after I confirmed his status as possesed had to do with the fact that he targeted shade. This was a bad play, sorry pinkmoth. I think you should of also given a fake scum result on nico when you were asked to inspect them, but thats coming from the perspective of someone who knew the whole game plan. I think you did fine by playing along with town, but you had to know you couldnt of done it forever.
pancake - Abdul / Avdol
Dear pancake

You are Muhammad Avdol

An Egyptian fortune teller, you are the most mature and level headed of the group. Having witnessed the terror of Dio firsthand ago, you join your old friend Joseph Joestar to save the world from that menace. Your stand, Magicians Red takes the form of a Phoenix, and manipulates flames that burn at temperatures capable of evaporating metal.

Using the power of Magicians red, you can protect a user with a wall of fire once each night. This will allow you to protect that user from any deadly actions directed at them during the night cycle. PM the hosts NX Protect (username) and any killing actions directed at that user will fail.

Additionally you may perform your teams nightly kill. When you are designated to do so, Magicians Red’s intense flames will incinerate the target, preventing their role PM from appearing in the thread. When performing the nightly kill, you may not use your night action.

Additionally, due to your strong will and constitution, the first time you are killed you shall not die, but will be unable to perform any actions or post in the game thread for 1 cycle.

Finally, you know that somebody not in the group is looking for you this game. Letting them kill you may be in your favour….

You are allied with the Stardust Crusaders. You win either when Dio is lynched, or when all threats to the crusaders are eliminated
Avdol was a role RODAN and I were really happy about. Avdol 'dies' and comes back to the group during the series, and we wanted to implement this into the game, whilst also giving it a mechanic that gave it more meaning than just a all purpose BPV, so we added the Hol Horse mechanic. The BG was also a part of the avdol flavour - he (SPOILTER ALERT) dies protecting others both times during the series (END SPOILER). Overall, this role was a treat.

pancake played very well I felt. Probably the best out of all the mafia. His fake claim fooled the village the best, he mucked up when contacting jalmont from what I can infer but everything I saw pancake do impressed me this game. You were unfortunate in that jalmont decided to sell you out, but in all fairness to him he had already used his shot and was guarenteed to flip neutral at that point, so dont't take that as a personal thing. Good stuff overall.
Blue_Tornado / twin - Jotaro Kujou
Dear twin

You are Jotaro Kujou

A delinquent Japanese High school student, you are the epitome of manliness, as any main protagonist should be. You join your grandfather, Joseph Joestar in order to save your mother, Holly from the clutches of Dio’s curse. Your stand, Star Platinum possesses great speed, strength and precision, and is considered the ultimate stand, with the amazing power to stop time briefly..

With the power of Star Platinum, you may use STAR FINGER once each cycle. Stretching your fingers out, you prod a user with great strength. In doing this, you shall concuss them, preventing them from using their night action the FOLLOWING night. To do this, PM the hosts with NX STAR FINGER (user)

Additionally, with Star Platinum's ability to stop time, you may skip the night cycle. This will cause the day cycle to progress immediately to a fresh day cycle. To do this, PM the hosts STAR PLATINUMS THE WORLD during the day cycle. Due to the great physical strain this places on you and your relatively recent discovery of this ability, you can only do this one time.

Additionally, you may perform your teams nightly kill. When designated to do so, you will attack with speed and precision so great, that you will kill the target before any bodyguard effects can be used on them. When performing the nightly kill, you may not use your night action.

You are allied with the Stardust Crusaders. You win either when Dio is lynched, or when all threats to the crusaders are eliminated
Jotato is the badass. As such, whenever he decides to fight, somethings gonna die. As much as people hate them, we felt like the expert kill was nessecary to have in this game, so we deicded to give it to Jotaro. The star finger ability was tacked on at the last minute really, just to give jotaro to do something to do in downtime when he wasnt killing. Night skip comes from jotaros ability, like DIO to freeze time. The night skip ability was a hard one to utilise, and I don't think there was ever a situation where mafia would want to do this unless they had found DIO through inspect and were using the skip as a way to fake claim a DIO and lynch the real one. It didnt get used this game, but I felt like it had potential in a differant play out of the game

Ok first of all fuck you twin. That out of the way, I am very grateful for Blue_Tornado for subbing in, legend mate. You did well coordinating the mafia and dealing with the hand that you were dealt, good game overall. Sorry you had to sub in to what you did =/

Mithril - Noriaki Kakyoin
Dear Mithril

You are Noriaki Kakyoin

A Japanese High School Student, you are the coldest and most pragmatic of the group. Having been freed from Dio’s brain controlling flesh bud by Jotaro, you feel compelled to join the group to repay this debt and defeat Dio. Your stand, Hierophant Green takes the form of a Humanoid which can stretch its body out like a spool of rope.

With the power of Hierophant Green, you may assist a user from afar once each night. This allows that users night action to be performed twice that night. To do this, PM the hosts with NX Support (User), but it is up to you to notify that user they may use their ability twice! Additionally, you may only assist a user one time.

Additionally, you may perform your teams nightly kill. When you are designated to do so, you will attack from afar using your EMERALD SPLASH. Due to the long range of this attack, you will not be detected by any Tracker or Watcher effects that may have caught you. When performing the nightly kill, you may not use your night action.

You are allied with the Stardust Crusaders. You win either when Dio is lynched, or when all threats to the crusaders are eliminated
Kakyoin is the wingman for the rest of the cast. When it comes to supporting someone else, nobody does it better than him. As such, we decided to grant him the ability to directly support the rest of the mafia, doubling the potency of their actions for one night. He is also the one most likely to be fighting from afar; This is why we decided to give him the ability to avoid tracking and watching whilst performing the kill.

Mithril got extremely unlucky. Pressured to come up with a fake, and I couldn't really provide him with a good one. The shade inspect put the nail in the coffin. Sorry dude. There was nothing you could of really done this game =/

Pilobacon - Iggy
Dear Pilo

You are Iggy.

A small Boston-Terrier from New York, you are grudgingly forced to join the group due to your stand powers. A stubborn and unwilling ally, although you do not show it you care a great deal for your companions. Your stand, The Fool takes the form of shape shifting sand, and is limited in power only by your creativity.

With the power of The Fool, you will automatically protect yourself each night. This means that all night actions will fail when targeted at you. Due to your stubborn nature, you refuse to use your power to assist anyone else.

Due to the fact that you are so stubborn, you also refuse to perform your teams nightly kill.

You are allied with the Stardust Crusaders. You win either when Dio is lynched, or when all threats to the crusaders are eliminated
Iggy is basically the begreuding ally of the group. As such, he was as individual as possible. Immune to everything, couldnt kill, he was basically designed to work in that he could eventually mole village through his uselessness. It was a cool role, but I might have given him an ability to kill if I was to go back and rebalance the game.

I think this was pilos first game. Dont hate him. Pilo I hope this taught you what mafia is about and you come back knowing what to expect!

Neutral
Jalmont - Hol Horse
Dear jalmont

You are Hol Horse.

A (literal) gun for hire, you are a contract killer hired by Dio to use your unique talents to stop the Crusaders. You have however, hit a rough patch and are running rogue at present. You are a massive chad, and with your smooth talk and quick wit believe you can work through any situation. Your stand, The Emperor takes the form of a revolver, with bullets that you can control the trajectory of.

Once each night, you may use your stand, The Emperor to shoot somebody. When people get shot, they die. Pretty simple stuff really. To do this, PM the hosts NX Shoot (User). Due to a lack of ammunition, you find yourself with a limited amount of shots, with only 1 bullet in your chamber!

You are currently allied with nobody, however there is a possibility for you to find friends in a business like yours.

If you hit Avdol with your only shot before day 4, you shall join the Stardust Crusaders faction.

If Dio is still alive at the beginning of day 4, you shall join the village.

If Dio is dead at the beginning of day 4, and you have not found and shot Avdol in this period, you shall stay rogue. This will grant you unlimited ammunition, but you shall not have any teammates to help you!

You are allied with nobody to begin with. Read above!
Hol Horse was designed to be the curveball of the game, which I touched on largely above. In the source, he doubts his allegiance and there have been interviews with the creator where he stated that at some point, he was considering letting hol horse join with the protagonists, but ultimately he decides to rejoin DIO. This is what lead to the creation of the funky role as seen above

Jalmont played very well. He effectively got into the village and mafia trust as expected, sold out pancake to gain the trust of village, and I feel like if mafia didnt idle / get hooked on kills he could have very realistcally taken the whole thing out. Unlucky you didnt get there in the end, but very well played regardless

Conclusion
This was my first time designing and hosting so I'm glad to say that I think things went pretty smoothly and it sounds like everyone had fun. It was pretty cool to design this with RODAN and as much as I may have whinged that he wasnt online when I needed him, we covered each others offline times pretty well and generally I think everything went quite smoothly in relation to hosting, and it was great to work with a bud on a game and bounce ideas off each other. I enjoyed creating this and seeing how it played out a lot, and am likely going to be hosting again in the future. If anyone has any feedback for RODAN or myself, please post or PM us, as I know that RODAN is working on another game as I post this.

Now, bring on official! I need to redeem myself for my terrible play in the last one.
yes this post is a fucking wall and a half. no need to point it out

Great postgame, Asek.

What were shubaka's questions?

I'll say that I liked a lot of the flavor and top down design around it. Made me try to watch JoJo but I couldn't make it past Episode 3.

Probably should watch only season 3 if the characters were what interested you.
Season 1 was pretty bad.
Also watch the new animes, not the old ones.

What happened N2 was pretty hilarious. In retrospect we should have seen it coming miles away lol.

Idk if people want to sub that's their right. If enough people sign up for a game that a host can select a playerlist they also have a right to not include people they feel exhibit bad behavior.

If you sign up to play a game and decide to quit because things are not going your way, then no, you don't have the right to sub out. It is disrespectful not only to the host, but to the other players in the game, and to the players who have to sub in. Quitting ruins the game for everyone else. Don't sign up if you don't want to play and let someone who does want to play play. It makes it harder to find subs for people who actually need one, and seriously disadvantages one's team.

If the punishment is "well maybe some hosts in the future won't include some people who exhibit bad behavior" then there is no reason for anyone to change their behavior. I would rather see tangible punishments for serial offenders which should be the responsibility of the moderators of this forum instead of pushing that responsibility onto hosts who may or may not decide to enforce a punishment for a user who ruined a game that is irrelevant to the one they are hosting.

N0 is von scum - no, N1 are internet and vF same team - yes, N2 I was RBd and sent in "I fight vF and idle" (RB from N1 JoJo | idk if you guys know how much I distrusted village leaders this game), N3 any S players scum (RBd from town) and then ded.
