Nuzlocke Challenge

Well, I started a Nuzlocke run on Pearl today, for the heck of it. Right now I have:
TITAN the Turtwig
NOM NOM the Bidoof
Glaive the Starly

Glaive and NOM NOM both started at level 2, so leveling them up has been very annoying T_T That's all I've gotten through so far... Thinking of good nicknames is hard, and it makes me so attached that all the battles are really stressful! ;-;

I also think I'm gonna nuzlocke White the first time through, just so I don't need to think about which pokemon to catch/use xD

EDIT: Got Leviathan the... Magikarp. He will be tough to raise, but once I do, it will be worth it :)
EDIT2: My team has been filled with Flash the Shinx and Houdini the Abra... another late bloomer. This is going to be tougher than I thought o.O

That QUartz run, oh lordy...

I've seen one on Nuzlocke's forum, and by the gods is it fucking hilarious.
Sounds interesting. Can someone link the download page to me. I look at above URL given above but i cannot find it. Some download links are broken.

Evilbob has left us hanging...........we were so close to the end.................and now this thread is slowly sinking in obsolescence.....................EvilBob, were are you??!!

I decided to give this challenge another try after my humiliating defeat at the hands of Bugsy, but instead on the FireRed version I had lying around. So without further ado, here's a basic summary after my version of the rules.

NO HEALING ITEMS IN COMBAT. Only use what you find. No Revive until the Elite Four.
BUY ONE POKEBALL A TOWN. But only if I run out.
FIRST POKEMON IN A ROUTE, CATCH. No exceptions. If it faints/runs, oh well.
NICKNAMES REQUIRED. Gold standard of Nuzlocke runs along with the previous.

Named myself Darren, as usual, and woke up in Pallet Town. Headed straight for the grass only to be pulled aside from a senile professor. He and his git of a grandson decide it's time for us to each get a Pokemon.

NEW MEMBER: Neptune the Squirtle! (Bold. Not bad.)

However, his git who was stupidly named Green (I'm lazy.) picked the Bulbasaur. And allowed Neptune to just demolish the plant creature after a few Tail Whips. Afterwards, headed off to grab the old man's parcel and bring it back. Neptune demolished a bunch of Pidgeys and Rattatas on the way. Had I aqquired pokeballs at this time, I would have had a Pidgey.

After earning five Pokeballs and the Dex, went off to the west of Viridian to that little patch of grass, then north to Route 2. NEW MEMBERS: Duke the Mankey! (Bold/Vital Spirit. Gah.) Gnawty the Rattata! (Impish. Seems okay.) They were both trained up to 10 alongside Neptune. Had a rematch with Green the Git, Neptune and Duke easily steamrolled his Pidgey and Bulbasaur respectively. They seem the dynamic duo that I'm relying on for now.

Next update will be Viridian Forest - Pewter Gym. I've played this run up to Mount Moon now.

We are back!

Here's my team:
Saur the Ivysaur
Funky the Mankey
Butterkill the Butterfree
PinCushion the Beedrill
Ze Bat the Zubat
Aquila the Pidgeotto

In Box:
Purrfect the Meowth
Macho the Machop

Deceased:
R.I.P Solid the Ekans
R.I.P Diggit the Diglett

My team wasn't in the best of conditions. My team was suffering some injouries. Funky was the only memeber who was still able to fight.

My first challenge outside the tunnel was Picnicker Carol. She had a Pidgey and a Pidgeotto. I had my Mankey, Funky. Funky managed to take them out quick and painless.

Next was Hiker Clark, who had a Geodude and an Onix. Easy for Funky. The Hiker Trent came along with his Graveler and Onix. Low Kicks and Low Blows ahoy.

The final opponent on Route 10, was PokeManiac Herman. His Cubone was surprisingly powerful! But Funky was the winner. His final pokemon was his Slowpoke. I sent out a weakened Saur to deal with it.

Funky finally evolved into a Primeape. There was much celebrating (Yay!).

Finally Lavender Town. First order of business, run to the pokemon centre and heal my dying pokemon!

After that I decided to go to the Pokemon Grave/Burial Tower. Guess who I met? Gary. He asked me why I was here and the fact I didn't have any pokemon to mourn. Of course I have pokemon to mourn! Solid and Diggit are dead.

I think that since I didn't see his Raticate, then I think it's dead. See, even NPCs play the Nuzlocke challenge!

Of course, a fight ensued. (I'm going to show my Pokemons levels to show how under trained some of them are.)

He sent out his level 25 Pidgeotto. I countered with my level 21 Butterkill. I first put it to sleep and then confused it like there was no tomorrow. It did wake up confused and managed to take out 3/4 of Butterkills health with a Gust.
Butterkill managed to finish it of though and leveled up!

Gary then sent out his level 25 lizardo. I switched to level 23 Aquila but he was easily beaten down to 4 health (Damn crit hax...). I switched to my newly evolved Funky. His lizardo didn't enjoy my Mega Punch/Karate Chop combo.

After that my Rival sent out his level 23 Exeggcute. I came back with my level 19 Pincushion. Pincushion managed to poison it with the first attack and managed to defeat it! I'm so proud of him ^^ .

Gary, obviously getting a bit annoyed sent out his level 20 Kadabra. I countered with level 19 Ze Bat! Confusion. One-hit kill. OHKO. 0_0 . ;_; . NO ZE BAT!!! DAMN YOU GARY!!! Another one bites the dust. Why!? He didn't even face Erika yet!
He would of been able to evolve into Golbat!!! DAMN YOU GARY!!! He had to pay. With kind. I sent out Butterkill. He managed to survive a Confusion and put it to sleep. Then I got a OHKO with a Mega Punch from Funky.

Gary last pokemon was a Gyarados. Oh how wish I had a Pikachu... but I don't, so tough. I decided to counter with Saur. I managed to sleep powder it, seeded it and abused the STAB with non stop Razor Leaf. That seemed to do the trick!

So he walked away. It's ironic isn't it? Ze bat died in a cemetery for pokemon. Is that Irony...? I don't know. But I lost another amigo. Every place I now visit, I lose another pokemon. I decided to go and heal my survivors.
R.I.P - Ze Bat the Zubat (Male) Levels 8 - 19

Another problem. I now had to face the Tower of Ghost Power, without a dark or ghost attack. I haven't got a Ghost of a chance ¬_¬. Oh well. I still have Aquila and his flying type moves! And of course, I ain’t afraid of no ghosts! *Plays Ghost Busters theme song!*

I didn't want another repeat of the Rock Tunnel, so I decided not to document the matches in here. And anyway who wants to hear about the same two pokemon all the time?
But man those channelers were freaky...

I will just mention a couple of thinks: "Purified and Protected Zone" and "Zombies!" ZOIKS!

After being forced out by a slightly miffed off spirit, I decided to head to Celadon City, the Vegas of the Pokemon World! (Although some consider Goldenrod City, the Vegas of the Pokemon World!)

On Route 8, I caught Gardie the Growlithe (Level 17) (Female). Now I have my first fire pokemon on the team!

At last, Celadon City! I went up the flight of stairs to collect my complementary Eevee called Eve (Male) (Level 25). Now dear readers, I have a dilemma. Do I wait to level 30, in order to learn bite, before it evolves. Then the more pressing matter of what to evolve it into. Vaporeon or Jolteon? Vaporeon can learn Ice moves and would be great against Blaine.
Jolteon, on the other hand, I really want to get an electric type. Readers, what are your points of view on this?

Anyway... on to the Gym!! Here is my team for it:
Saur the Ivysaur
Funky the Primeape
Butterkill the Butterfree
PinCushion the Beedrill
Aquila the Pidgeotto
Gardie the Growlithe

In Box:
Purrfect the Meowth
Macho the Machop
Eve the Eevee

Deceased:
R.I.P Solid the Ekans
R.I.P Diggit the Diglett
R.I.P Ze Bat the Zubat

Right here it goes! Wish me luck!

Hmmmm...Sprouts and ORDISHs as far as the eye can see. Aquila, ButterKill and Gardie were like a dream team. We even came up against a few Bulbasaurs and Ivysaurs!
Damn their Poison Powder and Poisoning Moves. I had quite a few close calls.

After the annoyance of the gym, I finally came up against Erika. She started with Victreebell and I started with the demon reincarnated Butterkill. I started with sleep powder, out speeding Victreebell. I used confusion to great effect confusing it.
The winner of that round was Butterkill

Erika sent out her Tangela and I countered with Gardie. Two hits from Ember and Tangela was defeated, but not before it had poisoned Gardie.

For her final pokemon, Erika sent out her Vileplume. I sent out the fast and deadly Aquila. I almost OHKOed it with Wing Attack, but Erika used a Hyper Potion. After another Wing Attack (Which it survived, Dun Dun DUN!!), Vileplume used the dreaded Stun Spore.
Aquila tried to use Wing Attack but was fully Paralysed! It was then melted by the Acid. Another round of Acid came, and Aquila's defence dropped. Weakened, he managed to go in for a Wing Attack.
Here's what went through my mind at this point:
"Stay on Target!"
"It's too close!"
"Stay on Target!"
"It's going to miss!"
"STAY ON TARGET MAN!!"
The Wing attack came in and... (This pause is for Dramatic effect by the way)... (This one too!)... and... it... HIT! *Death Star Explodes* *Mass Celebration among my team*

"OH we're halfway there! Oh Oh, Living on Prayer!" Yes Folks, we got our 4th badge out of 8. We're halfway there!! AND best of all, we didn't lose another team member!! DISCO!!

Afterwards, I went a slight detour and picked up HM02 Fly! Not bad all in a days work!

At the end of this session, here is my current team:
Saur the Ivysaur
Funky the Primeape
Butterkill the Butterfree
PinCushion the Beedrill
Aquila the Pidgeotto
Gardie the Growlithe

In Box:
Purrfect the Meowth
Macho the Machop
Eve the Eevee

Deceased:
R.I.P Solid the Ekans
R.I.P Diggit the Diglett
R.I.P Ze Bat the Zubat

- Will I be able to stop Team Rocket?
- Will I get the Silph Scope?
- Will another member of my team fall?!

Find out the answer to most of these questions next time on Pokemon FireRed!

My thoughts:
Actually, I vote you box Gardie and go with Flareon then fish something up in Fuchsia. But, if you've already bonded too much with your Growlithe and you HAVE to use the the Eevee, go with Vaporeon.

I'll admit I have bonded with Gardie, but I'm still open to suggestion. I know that any eeveelution can become a powerful pokemon within a team and that's why planning on using it. Which eeveelution, I'm open to any suggestions, even if that means putting one of my current pokemon into the box.

I would go with Vaporeon unless you want the Lapris at Sliph Co. Vaporeon can take a few hits and can give you Ice Moves against lance. Plus you may need a water type against Blane.

TITAN pwned Roark. It was kinda pitiful. The routes, and even Valley Windworks, were easy. However, since Route 209 and Valley Windworks are separate, I'm not going into the grass there so I can get Drifloon, as it will be the first pokemon I encounter there. Also, in a trainer battle (I forget exactly which one) they scored a crit on Bruce and got him down to 1 health. It was close, but I still haven't lost a comrade!

I just got to Eterna Forest, meaning it's time to grind up Leviathan and Houdini...

Team:
TITAN the Grotle
NOM NOM the Bibarel
Glaive the Staravia
Bruce the Zubat
Terra the Geodude
Flash the Shinx

Box'd:
Leviathan the Magikarp
Houdini the Abra
Linux the Onix
Tails the Buizel
Rosie the Budew

Dead:
None! :D

Arrived at the Viridian Forest. I decided to play it safe and use only my strongest Poke at the moment against any Weedles, due to my lack of Antidotes. Also grinded for a bit near the entrace so that I could quickly make a run back to the Center in case things went badly for Neptune, Duke, and Gnawty. However, in the first patch of grass I entered....

NEW ALLY: Bumbler the Weedle/Kakuna/Beedrill (Mild. :S). Yes, I wasted absolutely no time in training this new freind against the local Caterpie population. Neptune and Duke were still the heavy hitters against the Bug Catchers, with Neptune for the Metapod/Kakunas and Duke handling Weedles. I did manage to get Duke poisoned once, but luckily I found an antidote on the way out back to the Center.

I had a bit of a scare near the end when the final Bug Catcher managed both a crit and a poison against Duke. After the end of that turn, the poor Mankey was brought to 3 hp. I'm more than certain that if I had used the Antidote I found earlier before now, Duke would be my first casualty. Neptune was able to save him though. Seems to be the dynamic duo alright.

Afterward, I went straight for the Pewter Gym after a quick heal. Neptune was able to easily take down the Camper/whatever he was again, the Sandshrew of his only a minor nuisance after some Sand Attacks. The real showdown was between Brock's Geodude and Duke the Mankey. Geodude managed a crit Rock Tomb and a Speed drop on him in the same turn, but was quickly cleaved in half with Duke's Karate Chop followed by a low kick. I had to pull him back as the Onix was brought out, instead having Neptune take the incoming blows and drowning the rocky snake.

BOULDERBADGE GET.

I would go with Vaporeon unless you want the Lapris at Sliph Co. Vaporeon can take a few hits and can give you Ice Moves against lance. Plus you may need a water type against Blane.
I actually completely forgot about the free Lapras. I am tempted to use the Lapras as my water/ice pokemon and to evolve Eevee into a Jolteon.

I'm doing a Fire Red Nuzlocke run and my current team consists of Hugo the Ivysaur, Ginny the Pidgeotto, Andrea the Clefable (I got really lucky there, and it's Modest!), and Charlie the Vaporeon. I just caught a Gastly which I named Ivan, and I don't know whether I should use it. On the plus side, it has beastly SpA with a positive SpA nature and although it has a terrible level up movepool I can teach it Thief to get it going. But I already have three Special attackers and due to its fragility I'm going to have a hard time switching it in. It also competes with Andrea, who already knows Water Pulse and Shock Wave, for TMs, which both need to do anything. Unless I spend a lot of money on Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and Flamethrower, all I have for them are Giga Drain and Psychic, which means there aren't enough TMs to go around. Any thoughts?

@Addie, I made the suggestion I did because, as far as I'm concerned Jolteon has had a spot in the sun for too long. Sure, he deserved it but I am still tired of having to notice whereas Flareon still has some novelty as being the least immediately useful of the first 3 Eevee stages.

@asdfrozen, I would never suggest wasting that much time in the casino. You could try for a Hypnosis-Dream Eater kinda thing given Gastly's above average speed or you could suck it up and box him for something else. There is no "right answer" to your dilemma but there is no "wrong" one either.

I think I will take your suggestion. Here's my thinking about the whole situation.

For a Water/Ice pokemon, I get a free Lapras after the Silph HQ
For an Electric Type, I can simply go to the Power Plant and catch one there.

I have bonded with Gardie, I'll admit but her movepool would mean I would have to wait a long time before I get a useful fire type move. Embers ok for the short time. Also I do see what you mean about Flareon. Jolteon and Vaporeon get used a lot more than it, when it can be just as good.

Alternatively, you can just go to Fuchsia and get Surf, then head to Cinnabar and beat Blaine for a Fire move. It's jumping a few steps, though, and you'd need a Water-type other than Lapras (or just go through Silph and go straight to Fuchsia without beating Sabrina yet, if you're in a rush).

Alternitively, you get Eevee, DON'T evolve it, and put it on the reserves so if you get a Full TKO (or even if you just lose Gardie or Lapras or your electic type[hoping it's Magnamite/ton for your sake]), then you still have a potent member waiting in the proverbial wings.

@Addie. Just wait with the Eevee, then evolve it to whatever you need it to be the most.

@Everyone else. I have been busy with stuff IRL and haven't worked on my next Nuzlock update for a long time, but I should be getting some free time to work on it this Wednesday.

Did it take another month to update

Detroitlolcat's Leafgreen Nuzlocke Challenge???

Part Five: Floppy the Fail Fish

Author Note: Sorry for the long wait. God really does not want me to finish this challenge... First, I finished an update, but then it locked me out and I lost it. That took away some motivation, so I waited a week. That week was the week before finals, and I really needed to bring up my grades, so I waited another week. The first day of summer...computer crashed. Took ANOTHER week for repair. I would have posted it on Saturday, but it was my birthday so I had some friends over. Sunday didn't work because Dad wanted me to play four hours of tennis (I play tennis @ my school and want to improve) and playing Pokemon is the last thing on my mind after that. But, in order to make up for my grave transgressions, here is a

DOUBLE UPDATE

"Why did I stay in Pewter City for a whole month anyway, the museum is boring and there's nothing to do but kill bugs in a forest south of here. This place sucks, why would anybody want to live here?" Lolcat thought, his bag packed and Pokemon healed for a hike to Mt. Moon. Lolcat really wanted to leave the city and battle some Trainers.
"Wow... Rattata has gotten really fat from not battling in a month" Thought Lolcat, as he called the United States Army to use 47 helicopters to move the 86-ton rat and 183,761 military doctors to administer liposuction in order to reduce Rattata to normal size.
Thank God the economy sucks and they agreed to do this for about 50 bucks...

"Well, time to enter Route 3 and fight some Trainers"
Lolcat proceeded to stomp some losers flat and crush their hopes and dreams of ever succeeding as Pokemon Trainers. The physical scars to the Pokemon and the Trainers' emotional scars made the Ninth Layer of Hell look like Chuck E Cheese's. Actually, the fights were hard, and if Lolcat didn't get really lucky (like barely living poison), then his team would have like two pokemon in it.
Lolcat proceeded to the Pokemon Center in Route 4, just outside of Mt. Moon. Not much different than a normal Center, except one shady character that called for Lolcat. Lolcat moved to the room's corner and the man spoke...
(Dailogue goes: Man, Lolcat, Man, Lolcat, etc.)

"Hey! You! What's your name!"
"Lolcat. What do you want?"
"You look like a Trainer. You like Pokemon?"
"Yeah. I'm a Trainer. What of it?"
"I'm just a guy looking for a quick buck. Lets do some business."
"Sorry. Can't use items. Nuzlocke challenge."
"Items? Items are for small fries. I'm talking Pokemon."
"You selling Pokes?"
"Yeah. Only got one left to meet Da Boss's quota. Boss gets real pissed if I don't make the quota."
"This looks like trafficking. This is legal, right?"
"Only if the cops don't see...Hehehe"
"I'm in. What pokemon you got?"
"Only the best for an aspiring Master like you. Pokemon Number 129. Evolves nice and early into a fearsome dragon. Water-type. You know how good these Pokemon are..."
"And the price"
"Seven Hundred"
"You stupid or something? Do I look like Bill Fucking Gates?"
"Five. Final offer"
"Fine"
LOLCAT RECEIVED A MAGIKARP!!!!!
Lolcat says, "MAGIKARP? Dammit, I thought it was a Dratini...Well, that was a waste..."
Lolcat names it Floppy, as it flops around a lot.
Lolcat enters Mt. Moon and realizes that he should train.
Back in Route 4, Kitteh starts to feel weird.
"Squirtle...SquirtleSquirtle" (What's going on. I'm starting to hurt)
"Is everything okay, Kitteh?"
"Squirt...le" (Are you CENSOREDing stupid? I said this HURTS)
"Well, back to killing wild animals"
"Squ...
Squirtle turns pale, then the paleness turns into a ghostly white.
"Holy Crap! What's going on?"
"Squirtle! Squirtle! SquWartortle! Wartortle!" (CENSORED Yeah! I'm a Wartortle)
"Wow!" cried Lolcat, "My first Evolution!"
Bugsy starts to hover around Lolcat
Bugsy: "Butter!" (What do you mean, "first evolution"? I evolved twice and you say that HE was first? I was a F$%king COCOON for a F$%ing WEEK! You think that was FUN? NO! All I could do is Harden! And then Lolcat goes 'Derpderp yea for F#$ING WARTORTLE! He evolved first!' Well guess what: THAT'S A LOAD OF CRAP!)
Lolcat: You're just cranky that he evolved first. Calm down, Bugsy. I'm sure you'll evolve into a Metapod some day...
Bugsy: "BUTT!" (I was a metapod for seven F$%ING DAYS!)
Lolcat then heads to Mt. Moon, ready to catch his sixth Pokemon. Unfortunately, he critted it. :(. Poor Zubat.

Intermission's over! Return to your seats for...
Detroitlolcat's Leafgreen Nuzlocke Challenge
Part 6: First Encounter

Lolcat steps into the mountain once again, knowing that he cannot catch a Pokemon here. Hopefully his team of Wartortle, Rattata, Butterfree, Pikachu, and Magikarp will carry him through to the end. (Note: Lt. Surge is going to screw me over...)
"Whew...the Town Map says that this mountain is BIG! I wonder if I can find any Clefairy, I hear that they are really rare."

Lolcat proceeds straight into the mountain and turns left. A Bug Catcher greets him by saying
"Huff...huff...You! Don't go further into the mountain! There are suspicious people ahead with tough Pokemon!"
"What did they look like?"
"Didn't get a good look. One of them said 'Get Him!' and I ran like hell. I think i lost them. I was going to the NBCA convention (National Bug Catcher Association) to protest Game Freak giving us sucky Pokemon but now I'll never get to Cerulean in time. I really need Cut so I could get to Diglett's Cave. Or maybe I'll take a plane next time."
"TMI dude" replied Lolcat. "Thanks for the info, though"

Lolcat saw the dead end ahead and backtracked to the cave's entrance. This time, he proceeded right and killed a clefairy. Lolcat saw a ladder and entered the mountain's subterranean depths.

"Wow...the cave really narrows out here. I wonder if there's anyone here..."
Lolcat's search for another person is fruitless, as all there is is one short path to a ladder leading to the ground level. Upon reaching the ground, Lolcat sees a man garbed in black.

"Who is this?" thought Lolcat, "And why would he be in a dead end like this? Either way, he doesn't seem to be doing anything wrong. I'll just inspect this part of the cave and leave"
"Hold it", said the strange man "You're coming with me. I'm part of Team Rocket, the toughest gangsters in the world. Hehehe. Sandshrew, take him down!"
Lolcat retaliates with Bugsy, but realizes that it might know a Rock move and switches in Kitteh for the kill. The Rocket uses Rattata which is dispatched by Bugsy. The Grunt's Zubat is also beaten by Bugsy. Bugsy learns Stun Spore and uses it on Lolcat as revenge for the evolution comment in Part 5.
"Dammit...Da Boss is gonna have my head for this. Losing to a kid...this is bad. Real bad. You don't know what Boss does to people that lose. Here. Take the Star Piece back there. i was just keeping it safe for one of Da Boss's Admins. It's worth a pretty penny."
Lolcat quickly exited the room with the Rocket and headed to the Pokemon Center in order to heal the team, and quickly reenters the Mountain in hopes to finish. Proceeding to the ladder, Lolcat takes a turn south, while Bolt (Pikachu) roasts retarded bats. Lolcat sees a scientist, and challenges him to a battle. Lolcat stamps some more losers and then walks northeast up a tunnel. Mostly just items that can't be Nuzlocked.

Lolcat talks to a man that says that there are fossils here. Interesting.

One of the Lasses in the mountain said "It's way bigger in here than it seems" That's what she said. Lol. Then Bugsy learned sleep powder. That should help me bring in the ladies. :)
Lolcat passes another ladder, but decides not to take it because last time Lolcat ran into a mafia dude. And Bolt is about to die...

What will happen? Bolt has a mere 7 HP and Lolcat cannot handle a death this early in the challenge. Will Lolcat have to return to the Pokemon Center this deep into the mountain? Will Lolcat ever exit Mt. Moon? Will Bolt be able to carry his own weight? Find out soon because this is the
