J7R, for someone who complains constantly about people putting words in his mouth, you sure do purposely go out of your way to misinterpret what people say. I say hey, you're young/ignorant and therefore don't have a fucking clue about how gay people were treated 20 years ago (because you were probably about 2 years old or so)... ergo I'm somehow telling you that you don't know how gay people are treated today (which is, incidentally, sunshine and fucking roses by comparison)? Get a clue. If parents found out about an openly gay teacher teaching their kids 20-30 years ago (during the height of the AIDS crisis in the West, ha!), most of them would've been up in arms demanding that person be fired because they're almost definitely going to put children at risk, whether it's via rape or "recruiting" or kids thinking that it's alright to be gay (BAD ROLE MODEL!). Can you see the comparison, yet? Your problem isn't not knowing about how gay people are treated today, it's that you have no sense of history and can't see the comparisons because you either don't care to or are just so spoiled by the relatively great treatment gay people get today that you don't believe any of these attitudes could've existed.
Would you prefer to live in la-la land because you only suck dicks for enjoyment and porn stars are ruining the sanctity of sex? It would just be awful if your future husband had several other people's flags planted on arsehole mountain before you got to it, I'm sure.
Also you all need to stop stereotyping the porn industry. While it's certainly more open to exploitation and abuse compared to most other industries, the majority of people involved with it aren't abused or taken advantage of. Again, more of a problem than other lines of work, but not "OMG MY DAUGHTER IS IN PORN SHE'S 100% GOING TO GET BEATEN BY PIMPS AND FORCED INTO THINGS SHE'S NOT INTO!" Also quite frankly I don't think damning the actors themselves will fix anything about the industry. You need to make things safer for them, starting by changing the attitudes people have towards them. Until porn stops being seen as something that "defiles" a man or woman, you're not going to fix anything, because they're going to be far more likely to feel too ashamed to get out of an exploitative situation or talk to people about it (assuming they're in one). Also, making Halas'
entire college education useless benefits who, exactly? Maybe she can work at McDonalds for the rest of her life, but then she might interact with children and be a bad role model... oh no!
Incidentally I was going to link the tumblr of this porn star/feminist who blogs about the industry and other shit like that but I can't for the life of me find the link. It's definitely an interesting read if anyone can find it.
PS: The reason porn stars burn out at 40 (or younger) is almost entirely because our society sexualises the hell out of youth.
PPS:
I support her not being a teacher because it's 100% inarguably impossible to teach kids when they are watching you have sex in class.
Never described in any article, shit you made up. Or does making up shit not count as contradicted by news articles, like... saying that she raped one of her students, they didn't specifically say that she didn't so it counts as a legit statement, right?
Like I said before, I don't hear her complaining about the royalty checks she's going to get from this popularity spike.
You liked spouting off this one until I corrected you, which shows a real ignorance of how porn stars are paid (also, never mentioned in the articles). Truth be told, you didn't actually contradict the article that much, the problem was that you were arguing the same stupid points until someone (me in this case) brought up the judge referring to her as "deceitful" in the article, then you decided to use that as an attack on her character... which basically implies that you didn't read the article past the title to begin with and just filled in the blanks with what you think people would do. Then again, I never got the impression that contradicting the article specifically was what capefeather was referring to, anyway. Just that you like making attacks on her character/people who do porn and then saying "I am fine with people having sex for money and don't think it's immoral, I'm just
not fine with it" and the like, more or less.
