Round 5: A Silly Request

Welcome back everyone! Last round we witnessed Smashlloyd's Aggron Head Smashing Athenodoros's Dragonite to pieces. Will he and Swampert be able to make up lost ground.

Well, things start off looking quite good for Athenodoros. Aggron, sensing a powerful attack coming, puts up a green Protective shield. Swampert doesn't seem to think much of it and smashes the shield with an Earth Power. It actually seems to have hit a soft spot on the shield, but thankfully for Smashlloyd the Critical Hit did little but make Aggron spend more energy than he expected to.

Swampert, figuring he has the advantage against this thing, makes sure Aggron cannot run away from him, Blocking off his path. Aggron however pays no heed and Chills off to recover some much needed energy.

It is then that Aggron decides to go on the offensive. Sensing a terrifying move coming, Swampert braces itself to make a move. It appears it's senses were correct, as Aggron bears down on him with a fearsome Double-Take Down combo. Swampert, confident in it's ability Counters the move doing a whopping 51 points of damage. Unfortunately, it seems Athenodoros has fallen into Smashlloyd's trap, as the energy expended takes Swampert down!

That's two Pokemon down in two rounds! And as if that wasn't bad enough, Smashlloyd has all of his Pokemon alive and ready to go. Can Athenodoros hope to survive? Tune in to find out!

Round 6: Athenodoros Strikes Back!

Welcome back everyone! What, you say this is a late reffing? Don't be ridiculous! I'm never late! Anyways, last round we saw Smashlloyd pull off a genius move to make Swampert run out of energy. Can Athenodoros pull himself out of the hole he's in?

Aggron might just give Athenodoros the opening he's looking for, as Aggron's tuckered out from his devastating combo. Slowking takes this opportunity to send out a blue wave of electricity at Aggron. The Thunder Wave has hit its mark and now Aggron is Paralyzed. This doesn't bode well for Smashlloyd, but it seems he has plans to paralyze Slowking back. I didn't even know Aggron learned Thunder Wave!

However, Slowking, now faster than Aggron if you can believe that, foils the plot by taking some of the debris from the arena and fashioning a Substitute out of it! It's not particularly strong, but Smashlloyd is in trouble now! Before Aggron could launch the Thunder Wave though, he was Fully Paralyzed, which in this case was actually a good thing for Smash.

Slowking, safely behind his substitute, goes on the offensive, launching a stream of salty water at his foe! The Brine did massive damage to Aggron, who tries to paralyze Slowking with a Thunder Wave, but fails miserably due to the Substitute being there.

Athenodoros breathes a sigh of relief, as he finally finds some success. However, that Toxic damage is piling up, and once that goes down to zero, the opposing team will go on to the final round. He'll need to think fast if he wants to get out of this mess. Stay tuned.

Now then, why on earth is jassmashpwn winning? Clearly they're the inferior team to the experts of Athenodoros and Lou.

Welcome back folks! Last round we witnessed Athenodoros making something of a comeback against Smashlloyd. Aggron doesn't look like it's able to do much...what will happen next?

Well, Smashlloyd decides to go for the million to one chance and orders his Aggron to Dodge. Unfortunately, due to it's paralysis, it only manages to get a measly 2% dodge rate. Slowking merely shrugs and sends in another tidal wave. The Surf doesn't even struggle to hit Aggron, Aggron is down and out for the count!

Athenodoros has managed to pull himself out of a bad situation, but Smash still has two Pokemon waiting in the wings. Can the gym leader hope to survive? Stay tuned to find out!

With Aggron down, smashlloyd's team sends in Pyroak to take out Atheno's last Pokemon. It starts by putting up a Safeguard to protect itself from Slowking's antics. However, Slowking decides to just fall asleep with Rest. Somehow, the poison that had afflicted it was cured, and it started to recover HP as well.

Pyroak then goes on the offensive with Seed Bomb, but it only manages to destroy the decoy Substitute that Slowking had already set up. Meanwhile, Slowking starts mumbling to itself with Sleep Talk. Suddenly, the gem on its crown begins to slow, and it shoots out a beam at Pyroak with Power Gem. That's pretty impressive when you realize what this thing evolved from. All the while, Slowking is recovering more and more.

It's apparent that Pyroak is getting pretty low on energy, so smashlloyd's team orders it to chill out for a bit. Slowking doesn't get the memo though, and uses Sleep Talk again, this time summoning a Light Screen to shield itself. It seems that Slowking is back at full HP, but it's looking really worn out from its nap. Interesting...
