Counter

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Iron Head
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind

Thanks to its fantastic typing and with the help of this sets max SpD investment, Skarmory can act as a excellent counter to Mega-Alakazam. Although encore annoys it, Skarm isnt really worried about anything 'Zam can do, gobbling up focus blasts and Shadow Balls and easily 2HKO'ing with iron head. Though it can come in on any move, its best to come in on psychic ro shadow ball, as Focus Blast forces you to roost (If they are lucky and actually hit lol) leaving you as encore bait, while coming in on other moves allows you to freely Iron Head 'Zam to death.

252 SpA Alakazam Psychic vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Skarmory: 68-81 (20.3 - 24.2%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Alakazam Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Skarmory: 121-143 (36.2 - 42.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

This rarely seen MegaZard-Y variant isn't even 2HKOed by MegaZam and OHKOes it back with Fire Blast. Being Encored into Roost after taking SR damage kinda sucks, but unless its SpDef drops, it won't even matter since, like I said, it's not 2HKOed by MegaZam without SR.

EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor

This revenge killer variant also acts as a MegaZam check since Hydreigon can switch on most of its moves, Focus Blast being the only threatening move for it (unless it misses, which it will). In return, Hydreigon outspeeds (by four points!) and OHKOes MegaZam with Dark Pulse. If you want, you can use a Timid Nature to outspeed some other Scarfers and still OHKOing MegaZam, but the power loss is noticeable on other mons like M-Lopunny, M-Diancie and MegaGross because it now cannot OHKO them after SR.

Modest Nature

Nidoqueen resists Moonblast, is immune to Thunder Wave and doesn't take much damage from Flamethrower. Nidoqueen can switch in against Clefable even if Clefable uses Calm Mind as Nidoqueen is able to break through the boosts with a Life Orb boosted Sheer Force Sludge Wave. Nidoqueen can switch in mutliple times because it only takes 20% from Moonblast, 25% from Flamethrower and only 6.25% Stealth Rock damage.

Turn 1: Clefable uses Calm Mind, Nidoqueen switches in
Turn 2: Nidoqueen outspeeds and uses Sludge Wave (61.4 - 73.3%) Clefable can use CM again or hit Nidoqueen with a +1 Monblast
Turn 3: If Clefable went for Calm Mind again, it is now at 44.8% max (Leftovers recovery included) A Sludge Wave against +2 Clefable still does 46.1% min. Clefable loses.

Hard Check/Counter

Heatran @ Leftovers
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Taunt
- Flash Cannon
- Stealth Rock/Earth Power/Toxic

This is a more offensive variety of Heatran with more SPA and Fire Blast and Flash Cannon
Taunt is still used to stop set up. I prefer taunt over roar as it doesn't let you get last mon'd. Last Slot is customize able. You easily beat Flamethrower and ice beam variants. Thunderwave variants come down to how many full paras you get before you can pull off a taunt. Moonblast doesn't do too much, but if they get to +6 it hits hard enough and you can't do much back without a crit. Encore variants are annoying but you beat them. Focus Blast variants beat you.

Calcs:
252 SpA Heatran Flash Cannon vs. +1 252 HP / 96+ SpD Clefable: 156-186 (39.5 - 47.2%)

Personal favourite Victini set of mine. This set switches in on anything from Clefable, Taunts it and then 2HKOes with V-Create.

100+ Atk Victini V-create vs. 252 HP / 172 Def Clefable: 246-291 (62.4 - 73.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery.

and still outspeeds after one Speed drop. Speed is kinda arbitrary but you still beat it with max Speed Jolly since you still 2HKO:

0 Atk Victini V-create vs. 252 HP / 172 Def Clefable: 204-240 (51.7 - 60.9%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

If you don't want the stat drops you can just Bolt Strike it, since it's taunted it can't recover anyway.

Can only lose if it gets paralyzed on the switch and then fully para'd an unrealistic number of times letting Clefable CM to +6 and even then :

+6 0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Victini: 195-230 (48.3 - 57%) -- 41.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

lol

Metagross can switch in on any of Clefable's moves (With the exception of Thunder Wave or a boosted Flamethrower) and OHKO with Meteor Mash. Bullet Punch does 2HKO, but it gives Clefable chances to heal, set up, or attempt to paralyze Metagross (unless the former has been sufficiently worn down).

The only way Clefable could hope to win is some crazy Special Attack drops from Moonblast, and it has to be at +1 SpD already. Can't stall that out you dumb fairy. 140 Speed is to outrun said Clefable. (Thanks DarkNos o_o)

0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 200 HP / 0 SpD Dragalge: 82-97 (25.5 - 30.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

+1 0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 200 HP / 0 SpD Dragalge: 123-145 (38.3 - 45.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Adaptability Dragalge Sludge Wave vs. 252 HP / 84+ SpD Clefable: 508-600 (128.9 - 152.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Adaptability Dragalge Sludge Wave vs. +1 252 HP / 84+ SpD Clefable: 340-400 (86.2 - 101.5%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO

Tentacruel is a counter.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 248 HP / 244 SpD / 16 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Acid Spray
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes

Tentacruel switches into any move this Clefable carries (no Thunderbolt :]) and can use Acid Spray to slowly get rid of Clefable's Special Defense boosts and eventually all of its HP.

0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 248 HP / 244+ SpD Tentacruel: 31-37 (8.5 - 10.1%) -- possibly the worst move ever pro

You can also use a defensive spread or another move, it depends on the team.

Name : Excadrill
Status: Check

Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance / Rapid Spin

Excadrill can come in on any move except Flamethrower or Focus Blast (is this even a thing? ) and OHKO back with STAB Iron Head. Earthquake is a strong STAB move to spam when the opponent lacks a Ground resist while Rock Slide allows you to have coverage on Flying-types. Swords Dance allows Excadrill to boost it's already high Attack while Rapid Spin can be used to clear hazards. It's Ground typing also allows it to laugh at Thunder Wave.

0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Excadrill: 69-82 (19.1 - 22.7%) -- possible 5HKO
0 SpA Clefable Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Excadrill: 176-208 (48.7 - 57.6%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO
0 SpA Clefable Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Excadrill: 236-278 (65.3 - 77%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 172 Def Clefable: 400-476 (101.5 - 120.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

EDIT: Somebody do Jirachi. I somehow forgot about that thing.

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Heal Bell
- Calm Mind
- Moonlight

This is the best and most effective ways of beating all Magic guard variants of Clefable. Clefable can set up on all of them regardless of their coverage move and eventually beat them with Calm mind boosted Moonblast. I added heal bell over wish + protect so I could beat a potential toxic varient.

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD
Bold Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power Fire / Foul Play
- Clear Smog

Role: Check if Flamethrower Clefable, Counter otherwise

0 SpA Clefable Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 120 SpD Amoonguss: 130-154 (30 - 35.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery

0 SpA Amoonguss Clear Smog vs. 252 HP / 96+ SpD Clefable: 84-102 (21.3 - 25.8%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

While that's not the greatest source of damage ever, Clear Smog is more used for its utility than its damage output. Spore is also a great deterrent to setup mons in general. Amoonguss can even switch in if Clefable hasn't set up too much, as it needs to be at +4 to even have a chance to OHKO, and that's only the Flamethrower variants.

Pokemon: Gengar as a check.

Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Sludge Wave
- Taunt

Description: Gengar is able to come into Clefables attack quite safely if it doesn't carry Twave, with a pretty small chance of being 3HKOed by Flamethrower. It is able to shut down Clefable with Taunt and take it out with Sludge Wave.

Calculations:
  • 0 SpA Clefable Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gengar: 79-93 (30.5 - 35.9%) -- 41.2% chance to 3HKO
  • 252 SpA Life Orb Gengar Sludge Wave vs. 252 HP / 84+ SpD Clefable: 369-437 (93.6 - 110.9%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

Mega Beedrill as a Check

---->

Beedrill @ Beedrillite
Ability: Swarm -> Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 80 Def / 176 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Protect
- U-turn
- Poison Jab
- Knock Off

252 Atk Adaptability Mega Beedrill Poison Jab vs. 252 HP / 172 Def Clefable: 408-484 (103.5 - 122.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0 SpA Clefable Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Beedrill: 150-178 (55.3 - 65.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Quote
"Pokémon A checks Pokémon B if, when Pokémon A is given a free switch into Pokémon B, Pokémon A can win every time, even under the worst case scenario, without factoring in hax."

When Mega Beedrill is given a free switch into Clefable. Mega Beedrill will always OHKO the standard Magic Guard Clefable with Poison Jab.
