confluxx is the winner, well done!

week 5

this balanced team is built on a solid defensive and supportive core of zapdos / gliscor / skarmory. zapdos provides defog support as well as a ice-type check for thundurus and gliscor, gliscor provides the team with stealth rock and a status spreader as well as a rock-type check for zapdos, mega char y and thundurus, while skarmory provides spikes support and another ice / rock-type check. to go with this defensive core, mega charizard y is my wallbreaker and really appreciates the entry hazard support given by the aforementioned pokemon. thundurus gives the team a wincon; i went for a thunder wave and nasty plot core to help spread status and slow down the foe, effectively crippling them for the rest of the match. nasty plot helps it sweep. but the question is, what's my last?

you have until the 1st of july to post your thoughts. in other news, confluxx has won a week 3 times so far, well done to them. after looking at their submissions and the team, i realised that the pokemon i leave out are often easy to guess (suicide lead for HO team, sr user, defogger), so i'll try to make sure it's harder to guess the last pokemon.

Togekiss @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Dazzling Gleam
- Fire Blast / Aura Sphere / Roost
- Trick

This team gets shit on by dragon, as the only mon really able to attack kyurem or latias is gliscor and thundy. And since thundy is the special set, it cant do much to either with hp ice or thunderbolt, only being able to cripple them with thunderwave. And gliscor being 4x weak to ice = rip
The team also suffers from having a strong physical attacker, and even if it did, they would likely have 4x weakness to ice attacks, which is already an issue for this team.
So having a movie like trick on this team allows it to cripple specially defensive walls like chansey lanturn, jellicent, mew, and so on.

Dragonite @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Superpower
- Outrage
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake / Fire Punch

This team suffers from having almost no physical attacker, and gets walled by the fat normal core. Dragonite is one of the strongest physical wallbreakers available to flying and hits extremely hard. Paired with a choice band, it breaks the chansey + p2 core and almost no mon wants to switch in on it. It appreciates status spreading from thundurus and has strong priority in the form of extreme speed.

252+ Atk Choice Band Dragonite Fire Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 158-186 (47.3 - 55.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Choice Band Dragonite Superpower vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 418-494 (108.2 - 127.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Dragonite Superpower vs. 4 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 584-688 (90.9 - 107.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ Atk Choice Band Dragonite Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Porygon2: 226-268 (60.4 - 71.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Dragonite Outrage vs. 252 HP / 232+ Def Slowbro: 226-267 (57.3 - 67.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Honchkrow @ Life Orb
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Brave Bird
- Superpower
- Dark Pulse

With minimal physical offensive threats on this team paired with no counter/check to psychic and only 1 helpful priority move, Honchkrow makes its debut. With access STAB Priority paired with moxie and coverage for multiple types and physical walls such as Slowbro, Honch becomes an excellent Wall-breaker to an already powerful Flying Team.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave
- Scald
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

This team is really weak to ice, having Gyarados typing and Special bulk of this set helps with things such as Keldeo, Mega Charizard Y and even eats a Ice Beam from Scarf Kyurem-Black, and in return cripples them with either TWave or a chance to burn from scald, not only that but thanks to its Rest and Sleep Talk it can be a good status absorber. Intimidate helps with offensive physical threats such as Breloom, Mamoswine and Weavile and Leftovers is just to gain some health back

252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-B Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gyarados: 133-156 (33.7 - 39.5%) -- 18.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gyarados: 110-130 (27.9 - 32.9%) -- 86.7% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gyarados: 96-114 (24.3 - 28.9%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

Mandibuzz @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe
Impish Nature
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Toxic / Defog / Taunt

With the addition of Gliscor to the standard Skarmdos core this team has potential to be a perfect Flying Semi Stall team with Mandibuzz it becomes just that. Mandibuzz allows Gliscor to become the specially defensive variant allowing it to tank alot of both Physical and Special attacks. This allows the flying Monotype to switch into almost any attack and having 2 walls for each type of defense. And the use of Zapdos as a defogger allows Mandibuzz to run toxic so Zapdos can run Defog and Heatwave. Overall the addition of Mandibuzz to the team makes the team just that much more annoying to handle. Also with 56 Speed Mandibuzz can stop slower walls by clicking taunt keeping them from laying hazards, setting up defenses, spreading status, etc.

week 6

Scolipede @ Focus Sash
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
- Endeavor
- Baton Pass

Nidoking @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

- Sludge Wave
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower

Gengar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 252 Spe

- Sludge Wave

Drapion @ Lum Berry
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Aqua Tail
- Poison Jab

Skuntank @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Defog
this poison team is built around scolipede accumulating as many speed boosts as possible and then baton passing over to nidoking, who can wreck unprepared teams. went for a bulky gengar set just to help cripple physical mons and defensive mons in general. skuntank + drapion both help deal with psychic-types. drapion is also the team's wincon with swords dance (lum helps it absorb status) and skuntank is the team's ground check & offensive defogger. but the question is...

what's my last?

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Synthesis
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power Fire
- Sludge Bomb

Mega Venusaur plays a very important role on poison as it is one of its best checks to Water and Ground Types. This team lacks a reliable defensive mon as well as a check to both ground and water. This team also has nothing to counter things such as Scarf Mold Breaker Excadrill, Mega Gyarados and Keldeo, so therefore Mega Venusaur is hands down the best support this team needs

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Foul Play
- Clear Smog

As this team really needs something bulky to take neutral ground hits, I went with Amoonguss. Besides the obvious utility Spore, it's great for handling your teams weaknesses and checking some set-up sweepers with Clear Smog + Foul Play.

Mega-Beedrill.

Beedrill-Mega @ Beedrillite
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Protect
- U-turn
- Poison Jab
- Drill Run / Fell Stinger

M-Beedrill gets absolutely no love, between its horrible defense stats and the fact that its severely outclassed by other megas on both of its types. However, on this team I feel M-Beedrill can be an excellent option as the last 'mon since it is a VERY heavily offensive based team. With its insane speed and great attack along w/ Adaptability, Beedrill is a perfect fit on offense. Protect lets it grab the speed boost when it mega evolves while U Turn helps with momentum and is primary STAB along with Poison Jab. Last move is usually a toss up between Knock Off and Drill Run but since the team already has coverage for both, Fell Stinger is an interesting option to revenge kill 'mons and get a +2 attack even though it IS a bit unreliable.
