Murkrow
Insomnia
@Focus Sash
-Sucker Punch
-Drill Peck
-Hidden Power (fire, ice, grass or electric)
-Whirlwind/Pursuit/Mirror Move/Night Slash
The last two moves depend on the teammates. This is an anti-lead lead (that laughs at anti-lead breloom, both because it can anti-lead about as well, and because . . . well, it kills breloom).
This poke can't beat ALL opposing lead (but then, what lead can?) but it does something to most.
Breloom--can't spore me, eats drill peck
Gengar-- can't hypnosis, eats sucker punch
Starmie--Eats Sucker Punch
Heracross--Eats Drill Peck
Krobat--Can't hypnosis, eats . . . anything
Jumpluff--Can't Sleep Powder, eats Drill Peck or HP ice
Yanmega--Can't hypnosis, eats drill peck (or gets blown out while substituting if you have SR on team)
Ninjask--Eats Drill Peck, or gets blown away while subbing if SR on team
Tangrowth-- (who leads with Tangrowth?) can't sleep powder, hates drill peck.
Infernape--Eats Drill Peck
Aerodactyle--Eats Hidden Power ice/electric, follow with sucker punch
Gyarados--Likes to Dragon Dance/Taunt and finds itself eating hidden
power electric (No! But I intimidated him!)
note: If he is stupid enough to switch Electivire into a full health Honchkrow, laugh. Most Electivire can't beat this guy's sucker punch either (even after intimidate!). Depending on evs though, Intimidate might make a difference. It's almost a sure kill if he's using life orb though. You might want to drill peck on the switch to see what happens, which might not be a bad idea for the second attack anyway. HP electric does ~70% (and can do more) to bulky gyara, so even an intimidated drill peck becomes an option.
Flygon-- Hidden Power Ice . . .
Salamence-- Most get 1hko'd by Hidden Power Ice, eat sucker punch after
Garchomp-- Most get 1hko'd by Hidden Power Ice, eat sucker punch after
note: If you are not using HP ice, you can use mirror move, which looks like this:
a)
Honchkrow held on with Focus Sash!
Honchkrow used Mirror Move!
Honchkrow used Draco Meteor! (ROFL)
b)
Honchkrow held on with Focus Sash!
Honchkrow used Mirror Move!
Honchkrow used Outrage! (ROFL)
c)
Honchkrow used Mirror Move!
Honchkrow used Swords Dance!
--> Eventually go to a or b
d)
Honchkrow used Mirror Move!
Honchkrow used Dragon Dance!
--> Eventually got to a or b
Metagross-- Dies to HP Fire + Sucker Punch
Skarmory-- Dies to HP Fire or Electric
Bronzong-- Can't hypnosis. It's still annoying, but HP fire can work
Forretress-- HP fire, yeah.
Scizor-- HP fire, yeah.
Celebii-- Eats HP Fire
Azelf-- Eats Sucker Punch, but could definitely spell trouble . . .
Mesprit/Uxie-- Support sets are going to be a nuisance . . . unless you have night slash . . .
Typhlosion-- Erruption does not hurt very much after a sucker punch . . .
Swellow-- Will die unless he leaves. Try to predict it and sucker punch him if he U-turns. It's a potential 1hko.
Starraptor-- Take out with HP ice or electric, followed by sucker punch.
Cacturn-- First Drill Peck to activate its focus sash. Then kill it with your faster sucker punch.
Pokemon that Give Honch a tough time (but at least it has something going for it):
Jolteon-- Honch CAN kill Jolteon if it tries to stay in . . . but worse case is a sub to a good counter, like the one of the hated ones listed below.
Weavile-- I'm resistant to pursuit . . . (where as a psychic/ghost leads would cry) Depending on the moveset, honch might stand a chance against weavile, but I wouldn't count on it.
Abamasnow-- Depending on evs and moveset . . . could be bad . . . but at least you have Drill Peck/HP Fire
Swampert--Cries when it gets hit by Hidden Power grass, but if honch isn't carrying it . . .
Pokes Honch REALLY hates . . .
Tyranitar-- at least I'm resistant to pursuit . . . (where as psychic/ghost leads would cry)
Hippowdon-- Yeah. Life Sucks. Carry a bulky grass/water on the team . . .
Ambipom-- !@#$ing Fake Out (and any other pokes with this move . . . hate!!)
In any case, this guy can be pretty cool. Keep in mind, he hates sandstorm (which is @#!$ing everywhere), and if he is forced to switch by one of the pokes he dislikes, he will probably need spin support later on.
BTW-- it's also potentially hilarious to use super luck with nightslash when the opponent thinks you're insomnia sucker puncher. XD
As a note, if you can get this guy in with full health while you have SRs/Spikes/Toxic Spikes up, you can make some pretty hilarious things happen because he has the advantage against EVERY guts user and (depending on the chosen HP) has the potential to laugh at every rapid spinner in OU (has trouble against some UU spinners though).
