Card DeckOn January 2nd 2013, icepick felt that something was needed to inject Smeargle's Studio with a new breath of life. Something that anyone could participate in regardless of skill or previous experience, but also something anyone could wrap their heads around, and preferrably not yet another "Draw Every Pokémon" project that has been done so many times before elsewhere. It was this day she announced the idea that the local artists in the studio would come together and create: a card deck. The procedure was simple: Reserve a card and a Pokémon, draw it at 750x1050 pixels, 300 dpi, and then work from there. People quickly began to placehold cards, eager to illustrate some of their favorite mons in the style of the chosen card suit, and card designs began to roll in at a steady pace. But like most community projects, the hype faded for a while only to have its pulse removed a short while later, putting the whole project on ice for a good period. But it did not become forgotten, and on December 12th 2015, Cretacerus was the last artist to fill in the last blank in the deck. Due to how anyone could contribute with their own card, and how there weren't any established rules on whether or not the cards should be marked or labelled with their respective symbol and number, there were no plans on producing an actual deck the users could purchase. It is within the realm of possibility, but since this project was primarily for creating the deck rather than using it, neither icepick or the studio staff has chosen to drive that issue further. However, this page exists to display each and every card along with the name of its maker, making this one of the largest completed projects in Smeargle's Studio. As you're shuffling through this archive, remember the community who refused to fold despite the size of the project, working hard with the hand they had been dealt.
