Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v4

This is fun. It reminds of this one time I was playing a game online, and there was a person with a particular accent in the room. We guessed Australian first. When they said, "No, not Australian", we then went through every accent we could possibly think of besides the next most obvious New Zealand. At first it was just being a bit dense. But then it became kind of a fun game to keep getting it wrong.

I'm going to guess that the mystery mon on the survey is Barraskewda. Ummm... For the speed tier I guess. You know, because I have to say a reason.

Public opinion on Archauldon shifted drastically in favor of taking action against it after the survey was conducted, since it wasn't really until the first couple of weeks of SPL where Rain became truly dominant.

barra chilling only reason people wanted it banned was because arch existed and it made arch come in for free bc flip turn

Im predicting based on the observations I've made from discussions, not from my opinions on the tier itself, apologies if that was unclear. I don't think Iron Boulder is broken (or particularly good) and at the same time have seen some in the OU Room ask for a test. I think it would mostly serve as a control group on the survey, eg see what number a Pokémon that isn't broken gets and scaling from there.

My guess regarding Zama is mostly because finch did not deny its inclusion when others guessed it here.

my guess regarding chien Pao was based on the "views from the council" post from a council member suggesting dropping chien Pao to make the tier MORE centralized to make building easier - my Zama-C guess was based on others in that thread suggesting to test it in the tier instead

i apologize if my message was unclear but these guesses were predictions, not endorsements. To make my personal views clear, I'd really like Waterpon gone, wouldn't be upset to see Raging Bolt, Gouging Fire, and Gholdengo (the last not being the biggest issue right now) go, and don't really think any other Pokémon needs action at this time

nah its cool dw i just type like that sometimes, anyhow we got your answeron that + boulder just does no dmg to any kind of bulky structure
 
At this point, it is clear that Vert must've voted for a defensive mon to be on the survey. Given Dondozo has already been ruled out, I'd say the last mon is either Ting-Lu or Skeledirge.

Yes, Finchinator didn't deny Zamazenta being on the survey, so there is one more mon on the survey yet to be determined. Personally, I don't think Ting-Lu is broken, but if it were to get banned, that's one less check to Gholdengo, and I want Gholdengo banned, so I wouldn't be opposed to a Ting-Lu ban.
 
kingambit, gholdengo, gouging fire, raging bolt, volcarona, ogerpon-w, roaring moon seem obvious but the last one... deoxys-speed? zamazenta? have we finally agreed barraskewda is too ugly to deserve usage??

Ting-Lu used to be borderline stupid for basically doing the things Deo-D did before it became washed in previous gens, but that was more in the HOME era than now. Plus it provides greatly needed defensive utility. If Hamurott isn't on there I doubt Lu is.

Since we've pretty much gone through all available candidates I'm guessing it mght be something weather related
 
Well, good bye Lando-T. It was the only way to prevent a drop into UU if he's kicked upstairs first

Actual talk though I'm at a loss for what's left after the given denials. Only potential things I can think of any negative press for left are Garganacl and Weavile (unless Torkoal's being tested as a proxy for Sun)
