Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Everything not bolded is changeable. The idea is to get multiple Revival Blessings through Sleep Talk (Sleep Talk can't call Metronome, giving it a 50/50 chance of calling Revival Blessing).
Pawmot is C rank on Electric, so I'm requesting an Electric team that uses this set (if it happens to work better on Fighting, that works too, though Pawmot is D rank there). The (electric) team is allowed to autolose to Ground (if it doesn't, even better), but preferably doesn't autolose to any other type. Thanks!
opted for a more offensive build due to the strategy you requested
- the king. I opted to change Volt Absorb to Natural Cure so you can switch out and sleep will be cured. Changed Metronome to Focus Punch, you probably aren't using Focus Punch but you are definitely not using Metronome unless you want to be funny, FP could catch a switch or something idk
- went for an uncommon Lum Berry because the team has screens support / several ground immunes
- owns a lot of things behind screens + cm. Air Balloon could be changed for something like Magnet or Heavy-Duty Boots if you want
- screens support, hazard removal, could change to HDB if you're feeling overwhelmed by hazards but screens felt nice with this build
here to not auto lose to ground, I like this set a lot but you could change to a defensive pivot with will-o-wisp if you feel the need to.
more immediate attacking option that doesn't require any setup, pivoting is nice as well
Can we only ask for new teams to be built around a single mon?
Or can we share a partially built team and ask for changes/improvements/completion for it as well ?
Basically I want to improve a current team. Sorry if this not the right thread for that, please guide me to where I can ask for teambuilding advice.
Any ideas/feedback for my nat dex mono team? It's on pixelmon and a lot of moves are bugged. Hisui zoroark cannot change its moves. I'd prefer to keep my porygon2 and smeargle. Anything else can change. Stone axe and ceaseless edge are bugged on pixelmon. No megas are allowed
hello, this is not really the place for that. Please bring already made teams that you are looking for tips on to either the smogon discord, the rate my team forum, or the Monotype / National Dex Monotype rooms on Pokemon Showdown.

Gmolt's main role on Dark is that it's a great setup sweeper that has defensive utility as well, giving it a solid role on offensive teams. The main utility comes from its bulky special defense stat combined with its Flying typing, the latter giving it a neutrality to Bug and Fighting type moves that Dark teams traditionally struggle with as well as a Ground immunity for Pokemon like Overqwil, Alolan Muk, and Kingambit. With its high special bulk, its able to live weaker super effective attacks such as Enamorus's Moonblast and OHKO it with Hurricane in combination with Berserk's ability to boost its special attack automatically. With hazards and a combination of other offensive breakers, a well played Gmoltres can do considerable damage to a lot of different types, with the main examples being against balanced teams such as Water, Flying, Poison, and Ground. In order to build around GMoltres, you'd typically include a lot of the common Pokemon found on offensive Dark teams. You can use Weakness Policy if you'd like, but it's rather niche and situational compared to items like Heavy Duty Boots, Lum Berry mor Leftovers. On this type I found hazard stacking especially reliable at breaking in conjunction with GMoltres, so I included that. The Hydreigon and Overqwil sets are designed to get up and keep hazards on the field so GMoltres and other breakers in Kingambit and Chien-pao can punch holes. Without Sableye, it is extremely easy to remove hazards through Rapid Spin and many setup sweepers like Keldeo and Volcarona would punch through the team, so it fulfills a crucial role on the type. Usually, you'd run Recover on it, but it wants all 4 moves here and it's probably not lasting super long on hyper offense anyways. Double status is extremely good for crippling just about anything besides Dark Pokemon and Gliscor and having Thunder Wave in particular is great for things like Iron Valiant, Flutter Mane, Gouging Fire, and Enamorus.
Focus Sash Hydreigon is an interesting set that I've been messing around with recently that lets you get up Stealth Rock pretty liberally against a lot of types, mainly noting Flying. Hydreigon in general is really good on Dark because Dragon offers a lot of defensive utility as a typing since it can take Electric, Grass, Water and Fire attacks, compressing a multitude of roles onto one slot. As for the other hazard setter Overqwil, it's specially defensive to switch into Choice Scarf Enamorus, Iron Valiant, and Flutter Mane while Intimidate helps its physical bulk. The Kingambit's speed EVs allow it to outpace Iron Valiant if Sableye paralyzes it and no speed Heatran.
Overall this team should be pretty easy to pilot on ladder since it's mainly hazard offense hazard stack. Let me know if you have any questions regarding it!

Zamazenta @ Leftovers

Jolly Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press

- Heavy Slam
Okidogi (M) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Toxic Chain
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 248 HP / 148 Atk / 96 SpD / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Poison Jab
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
Okidogi supports Fighting teams by being good into Fairy-types like Primarina and Flutter Mane's decrease in usage in Psyshock. Flutter Mane typically gains more value by not running Psyshock nowadays as its moves like Mystical Fire & Power Gem are more common as 3rd/4th slots. Okidogi forces progress with Knock Off and this makes Great Tusk's Stealth Rocks more effective. Stealth-Rock weak Pokemon typically doesn't appreciate their Heavy-Duty Boots being removed by Okidogi and this can improve matchups for Fighting such as Bug and Flying. Lilligant-Hisui and Gallade is sort of like a weird anti-Ground core. The former has access to sleep and a powerful STAB in Leaf Blade + Hustle. Ice Spinner is amazing for nailing Dragon-, Flying-, and Ground-typings like Garchomp and Landorus. Assault Vest Gallade is a special sponge that chews attacks from the likes like Greninja and Landorus-I which can be threats to Fighting with their respective Psychic-coverage. Choice Band Zamazenta is a great offensive presence as it outspeeds and checks a few threats like Gholdengo, Flutter Mane, Landorus, and non-Scarf Iron Valiant. Great Tusk is running Taunt to prevent hazards and setup from the likes of Skarmory and Klefki. Finally, Choice Scarf Iron Valiant does great against opposing FIghtings and gives the team a designated speed control to check threats like Choice Scarf Enamorus/Greninja/Latios.
Pecharunt teams sort of lend more into offense, as its valuable traits such as trolling Dragon's Gouging Fire, Ogerpon-W, and Azumarill and its ability to scare passive counterplay because it can NP and it can confuse opposing mons is pretty nice meow. The EV spread lets it outspeed Jolly Azumarills, and slower Gholdengos. Kasib Berry lets it Check Ceruledge and forceremove Gholdengo in a pinch, but Sitrus berry lets you swap into Gouging Fire under the sun, though without pex a Poison team is likely losing to Fire. Though even with Toxapex, Poison is still likely to lose vs CB Gouger Fires, so Idt that makes lots of difference.
For the rest of the team, Amoonguss uses an Assault Vest due to the sheer number of special attackers that Alolan Muk doesn't want in, namely Ursaluna-B. It can also pivot into suspected not Psychic moves. The EV spread lets you still come in on Eqs from Scarf Treads/Exca while being able to take a Bloodmoon->EP on Ursa-BM. Clear Smog lets you keep setup in check, Grass Knot is nice since it hits BM more than Giga Drain ever would, and isnt stopped by Psychic Noise Prim (though you still beat Prim by using Clear Smog->Sludge Bomb) Okidogi is needed over Sneasler if using Pecharunt, as Okidogi basically never loses vs Kingambit. Adamant nature needed to OHKO Kingambit with Drain Punch, 16 Speed outspeeds Adamant Kingambit. The last move is up to you, Ice Punch OHKOs Gliscor at +1, but Psychic Fangs deters Toxapex if you like. Rest Talk Alolan Muk is opted for due to the lack of a bulky defensive core, letting you have a better time vs Ghost and Espathra. Weezing-G is standard. As the team is really slow, Iron Moth with Scarf is opted for, allowing us to revenge-kill Chien-Pao and outspeed some bad guys later. Replays: Vs. Ghost Vs. Water
I'd be very interested in a psychic team built around a double dance/stored power/draining kiss Mew set. I've tried several times to make it work, but I can never quite manage to have consistent results with what I build.
Hello! I haven't been playing much Gen 9 competitive, but I wanted to make a Poison gym team for the Pixelmon server I'm playing on. I normally do Ice gym teams but I'm a bit bored of them, so I wanted to spice it up with Poison. I love Clodsire so I wanted to make a team with him on it.
I figured I would use Clodsire and Toxapex as special and physical walls respectively with Sneasler and Iron Moth as my sweepers, and then Glimmora as my hazard setter/remover. The main questions I have are regarding the 6th slot and the movesets/builds for each mon. I chose Galar Slowking for the Psychic and Ice coverage, but I'm not sure if I should keep him or switch him out for Alolan Muk. I saw that it's recommended for Poison monotype teams to have one of the Poison Dark teams, but I'm not sure if it is needed or not.
As for the movesets/builds, I chose things that seemed good and made sense to me, but if I could have any second opinions before I start building the teams on Pixelmon, that'd be great!
Hi! I've been having a ton of fun with the Flying team Attribute very kindly built for me a while back, but I've been wanting to try something new, and I had an idea that might be crazy enough to work.
Could I request a mono Fire team built around Electric Terrain Rotom-H and Iron Moth? Thanks!
I'm looking to build a Monotype rock team centered around Diancie. I enjoy playing a balanced team style, with a mix of offense and support to keep my opponent guessing. Diancie is a great Rock/Fairy type that can serve as both a special attacker and a pivotal support piece with moves like Stealth Rock, Calm Mind, and Trick Room.
I'd like the team to have solid coverage across the various types that Diancie appreciates, while also having answers to some of the monotype format's more threatening mons. Ideally, the team would have good type synergy and be capable of dealing with a wide range of threats. I'm open to suggestions on the full team composition, sets, and strategies.
I'm excited to see what the team building experts can come up with for a Diancie-centered squad.

I have been playing monotype for a bit and would like to request a grass mono with Hydrapple. I like how they gave it regenerator so that it can function as a pivot, with a neutrality to the obvious threat of fire, while being able to hit back with hydro pump and earth power. It also has access to yawn, making it a niche option as a sleep setter (or alternatively forcing the opponent to switch so that they don’t go to sleep). Can’t wait to see what y’all do with it!

Hi, thanks for taking interest in our project, however, please make sure you read the rules before you request a team. Crawdaunt is D rank on water and we do not take requests for D and unranked Pokemon, sorry.
This attitude seems oddly hostile to new players. Presumably, any pokemon that is ranked should be more than usable on a team, and I don't see anything wrong with players asking for a team with a pokemon they might not know how to build around. Any player can slap on the top 6 mons on the VR and use them on a team; for this project to be the most effective for new players they should be allowed to request any mon on the VR.
But since we care so much about Viability ranks-- I'd like to request a team around 2 B rank normal mons, Chansey and Blissey.
Hi, i want a Mono Bug type team for friendly battle with Flygon on it. I know Flygon is not a Bug type, but the ligue in my town they allow 1 "looks like" pokemon and 1 free pokemon but must have the Tera with the type we use. We play on Reg H Singles too... so no Legendaries and Paradox.
So Monotype Bug with Flygon, 4 real Bug type Pokemon and any Pokemon with Tera Bug... i struggle with that one.
I was thinking Flygon, Scizor or Kleavor, Volcarona, Araquanid, Yanmega and don't know for the last spot... any pokemon with Tera Bug.
Since Kingambit has been banned it is a lot easier to fit utility Pokemon on the team. I took the most 5 common steel pokemon and put tinkaton on there as well. Since Tinkaton provides role compression by having Stealth Rock and Mold Breaker, we can free up other sets for other Pokemon. I removed Stealth Rock on Heatran and put on protect, a great scouting tool that comes in huge in the replay I provided. Archaludon can also opt to be more offensive due to this as well. I had a lot of fun with this team and I hope you enjoy it as well. Here is a replay: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250416228-jc9z2djqya8l63bnhpjyeitiezztjz7pw
Tinkaton plays mostly the same role as the team above, it's a good utility Pokemon that can make Flutter Mane and Iron Valiant's job easier. All of the Pokemon outside of Klefki and Tinkaton make great use of screens, coupled with hazards and thunder wave. Sometimes you don't even need the support, Primarina can just win on it's own sometimes its really broken. We actually don't need to use Hydro Pump (we already beat Ground and Rock types anyway) and Yawn (Sleep Powder on Lilligant). I went with Ogerpon-H instead of Ogerpon-C because I think Steel is a lot more prevalent right now. However, if you wanted to use Ogerpon-C instead, you could do that, it just depends on what you want to beat. A bunch of the team is already quite fast so I went with Choice Band Meowscarada, it helps in the flying matchup with Triple Axel as well, making the absence of Ogerpon-C not too too bad. You can change to scarf if you like. Brambleghast for hazard support helps the powerful wallbreakers. Cosmic Power mew isnt available in this generation so I went with Agility and Nasty Plot. I've seen screens Deoxys a bit lately so I thought that would be a nice partner for Mew. I included Hatterene as it is physically defensive and can take great advantage of screens. Slowking is specially defensive and can apply some hazard pressure, as well as being a nice pivot option for the strong wallbreakers. Latios is broken so easy add, and I included Hoopa so we can have a physical attacker. No scarfer on this team because screens make that not entirely an issue, as well as Deoxys outspeeding most everything and being able to slow stuff down with Thunder Wave. Please feel free to change the mew set if you prefer other moves, here is a replay and I hope you enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250463079-0bbwdvco56coh09pnxxas368pnfh05xpw

I hear your qualms about the rules and I would be willing to change them, I just have to think about it for a bit. I adapted the rules from the post which I adapted the thread from. So yeah, thanks for your concerns and I will have a look. Anyway, its the same pokemon but twice. One of them has healing wish and the other has stealth rock. I went for 4 walls and 2 powerful breakers. Thunder Wave on both of them to make Terapagos and Ursaluna have an easier time. Braviary is here to pivot into the breakers and use defog for the hazards. Porygon2 fills the last slot as a very physically defensive pokemon that isn't as passive as Braviary. I went with the 3rd set, it felt the best to me. Diancie's Fighting neutrality is really really good. I paired it with classic Garganacl who is incredibly strong and hard to KO. Decided to use sub 3 attack Arcanine which catches many people by surprise. Because we didnt have a scarfer, I went with Glimmora, it can help apply special pressure as well. Since Glimmora, a common hazard setter, is relegated to being a scarfer I decided to put Coalossal as a hazard setter as well as remover and utility guy with Will-O-Wisp. Ogerpon is a no brainer last addition, helps deal with ground and water types. Here is a replay, I hope you enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250480678-0s0b705ebjj8jbt4m9ogyraw08o9qlcpw
Empoleon is typically seen in a specially defensive role, as well as on stall teams, but I opted for more of a balanced build this time. I put Keldeo on the team because he is really strong into Dragon and Steel, two very prominent types. I decided to go with Choice Scarf Greninja because we already have a strong breaker in the form of CM Keldeo. Ogerpon is very strong and can lock foes into passive moves with Encore and set up with Swords Dance. Swampert is a nice slow pivot option, as well as being able to phase out setup sweepers and provide Stealth Rock damage. Toxapex is a classic physically defensive Pokemon, can apply toxic as well to deal additional chip damage. The rest of the requests did not follow the rules as currently listed. I may adjust the rules so maybe they will be dealt with at a later date. As always thanks for taking an interest in monotype and this thread!
