Ever randomly meet someone from Smogon?

I did.

I was hosting a SSBM tournament here at Bard, and this one guy was up from NYU to visit someone. We were comparing our levels of nerdery and the discussion came to pokemon, so I asked everyone if they had ever heard of Smogon. He did, and said he came here a lot, so I was quite happy to inform him that, surprise, I'm an administrator here! (Which makes me the ultimate nerd...seriously, ever try to tell your friends that you were an administrator on a website dedicated to competitive pokemon battling? Is there any way to make that not sound nerdy?)

I don't know if you'll see this, or if you'll post if you see this. I don't even know what your username is, because I forgot to ask. But come up to Bard again when we're playing Smash! (Or when we're not...whatever.) Because you were awesome.
 
I think I met Flameout, but I'm not really sure. What I do know is that I went to the EB Games (iirc, this was so long ago) he works at to buy a game and was assisted by a guy who fits his description, during his shift so I can only assume it was him.

It was at a magic the gathering tournament (you're not the only one who feels nerdy surgo) where I saw some guy playing pokemon between rounds. I talked to him for a bit and it turned out to be user bejlash/benjtoaks on shoddy who I've battled several times. Small world out there.
 
One time I walked into a hotel and I saw DM and Jumpman, it was really weird.

But seriously, one of my coworkers at an old job had heard of Smogon, although I don't know if he had an account or anything.

edit: i technically randomly met Jibaku but apparently i gave him a sinister look so he refused to come say hi to me. im a pretty nice dude though!
 
Yeah, I met some guy while I was in line waiting for Mew, he said he visited quite often just rarely posted, he mentioned his screen name but I have no clue what that is now.
 
I told a bunch of people in my english class about the Fed-Ex logo having an arrow in it, when they asked me where I found that out, someone said on the Internet. I'll have to ask him sometime whether he was referring to smogon.

this post looks so not-sarcastic it's scaring me
in other words, the whole internet knows about the fedex arrow, so for your own sake don't ask him if he found out on smogon because chances are 1/1000000000000000 he did, and you'll make a fool out of yourself ;p
 
Well, it turns out that Fish grew up one town away from me. Our schools have one of the biggest rivalries in the state of Michigan and the week of the yearly football game can be pretty insane. It was weird when he PMed me one day on the NB server about a year ago and started to ask where I lived and it turned out that he used to live like 10 miles away.

So I met with him, his friend Shea (who lives in my hometown of 4,000), and Carl in Lansing for the Gamestop tournament.

The next weekend, Fish, Shea, a few of their friends, and I recorded the sequel to Pokemon dreams. So I guess you guys can look for that to be done by this summer hopefully.


Anyway, other than that, I met a few people at the Detroit JAA. I hadn't really been planning on meeting anyone there but I kind of ran into Nocturn, Psycho, and Jeps.


I can't wait for Smocon '08 or the next nationwide tournament, I really want to meet a few more of you.
 
VIL and I went to the same college but I never got to meet him and now I can't because I transferred to another college. =(
 
One of my cube neighbours at work has a Smogon account, but I can't remember his username right now and he's off today.
 
At the Gamestop tournament someone asked everyone whether they heard of Smogon or not. I said I had and was a forum member. I don't know if this guy - his name was Kiernan - was actually a member here or just perused the Smogon analysis, though.

I'm pretty sure it's spelled "clique". Anyway, I've never randomly met anyone from smogon, unless you count my friend from school who has an account but never posts (and I was the one who told him about smogon and all things internet pokemon anyway). I did meet AA last April (on purpose however), and that was pretty cool. However, like 5k, I am excited for smocon/national tourney to meet some more people.
 
I am not sure if this really counts, but my older brother randomly started talking about smogon one day; however, I am not sure if he even has an actual account or if he just uses the pokemon analysis pages.
 
I haven't, I had a dream about that last night though.
it's one of those dreams where you don't remember it until you see something like this and it makes you THINK you did but you didn't

I live out in new hampshire
so I really doubt I'd see anyone
 
I met one smogon member at the gamestop tournament.
Didn't go on smogon back then though, I went on marriland...
Everyone else there went on serebii.
