NU BREAK THIS CORE!

Hello and welcome to "NU Break This Core!". In this project, you'll be presented with a popular core in the metagame each week and allowed to submit a singular Pokemon to break the presented core.

Approved by Aawin. :)
OP stolen from here.

Every Sunday a popular core will be posted by yours truly, PowerOfMemes. Posting will last until Friday, and there will be voting from then till Sunday.

Rules
  • Submission Cycles will last from Sunday to Friday, and Voting Cycles will last from Friday to Sunday.
  • You may reserve a Pokemon, however you must state what set you are reserving as well. You will have 12 hours before your reservation becomes invalid and is free to be taken by someone else.
  • The same Pokemon may be used by different people, however the sets used must be significantly different. For example, if I wanted to submit Choice Band Flygon, Be13costa could still use Flygon, but it would have to be a different set such as Dragon Dance or Eject Pack.
  • Submissions should for the most part be of Pokemon that are in the current Viability Rankings, but if there is an off-meta pick not listed, I will accept the Pokemon and its set.
  • An explanation is required, although it doesn't have to be too long. Calculations and Replays are not required; however, they help to better support your submission and argument.
  • Make sure the Pokemon that you've submitted have viable sets and spreads and can also be prevalent support for a team.
  • Please be respectful of others during submission and voting.

We're up for our first week, and you'll have to find a way to beat this core of Choice Band Flygon + Future Sight Galarian Articuno.

:sv/flygon::sv/articuno-galar:
Flygon @ Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- First Impression

Articuno-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Competitive
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Future Sight
- Hurricane
- U-turn
- Recover

Submissions for Pokemon that beat the core end Friday, August 23rd 10 p.m. GMT-5!

Demon Zong wins

:bronzong:
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Stored Power
- Iron Defense
- Body Press

Sits on either mon and sets up Iron Defense / Calm Mind accordingly. Neither can touch Bronzong at the start:

252 Atk Choice Band Flygon U-turn (70 BP) vs. 252 HP / 136+ Def Bronzong: 68-81 (20.1 - 23.9%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Articuno-Galar Hurricane (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 120 SpD Bronzong: 69-82 (20.4 - 24.2%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

And it quickly out recovers those with Leftovers. If either mon teras they lose to Body Press, and eventually Zong OHKOs both:

+6 136+ Def Bronzong Body Press (80 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Flygon: 388-457 (128.9 - 151.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+5 0 SpA Bronzong Stored Power (220 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Articuno-Galar: 338-398 (105.2 - 123.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

You could also run any tera type you want, and even use Rest / Chesto over Body Press and Leftovers, but that's less viable in general

Shoutout to Django who sniped Demon Zong while I was in the middle of typing it up

The reality of the matter is that very few Pokemon can stand up to CB Flygon alone. It can, however, be made more manageable when you include teammates with immunities to its common STABS, and in this case, use a mon with Protect to scout these moves. I decided to take a more offensive approach to threatening this core.

CM + Protect Raikou
Raikou @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

Tera Flying gives you a clutch Ground Immunity, while simultaneously giving you powerful coverage to hit Grass Types super effectively and Ground Types neutrally. It also gives you a resistance to Mach Punch and First Impression, though the latter can be blocked with Protect. This coverage is shut down by opposing Electric Types, but the only one that might give you trouble is Iron Thorns.

Calcs:
+2 252 SpA Tera Flying Raikou Tera Blast (80 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Flygon: 288-339 (95.6 - 112.6%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Raikou Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Articuno-Galar: 270-318 (84.1 - 99%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Choice Band Flygon Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Raikou: 173-204 (53.8 - 63.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Articuno-Galar Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Raikou: 87-103 (27.1 - 32%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

U ask yourself why use tail over other bulky cm mon that zong and cress that have immunity to ground with levitate and does the same set up game. Answer tail has speed to out speed both flygon and articuno-galar u can run tera dark to be immune to future sight if you want to because u have protect for first imp

252 SpA Articuno-Galar Hurricane vs. 192 HP /0 SpD Scream Tail: 154-183 (36.7 - 43.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 SpA Articuno-Galar Hurricane vs. +1 192 HP / 0 SpD Scream Tail: 103-123 (24.5 - 29.3%) -- 99.9% chance to 4HKO

Dragon Dance Flygon

:ss/flygon:

Flygon @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Scale Shot
- Fire Punch

Takes advantage of Flygon being locked into a move with Choice Band so you can Dragon Dance up and outspeed the two Pokemon. Tera Steel makes you not care about First Impression and U-turn from Flygon while still resisting Stone Edge. Tera Steel also makes you not care about Garticuno's STAB moves as much. You also beat the core even if one of them teras since Fire Punch is used for Tera Steel Flygon.

Defensive Wind Rider Brambleghast

:sv/brambleghast:

Brambleghast @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Wind Rider
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Atk / 188 Def
Tera Type: Dark
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Poltergeist
- Rapid Spin
- Strength Sap

:flygon: vs Flygon
Flygon only has 3HKOs and is neutered by Strength Sap:
252 Atk Choice Band Flygon Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 188+ Def Brambleghast: 98-116 (31.2 - 36.9%) -- 75.5% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Flygon Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 188+ Def Brambleghast: 131-155 (41.7 - 49.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

:articuno-galar: vs Articuno-G:
The attack EVs guarantees the OHKO vs Articuno:
68 Atk Brambleghast Poltergeist vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Articuno-Galar: 324-384 (100.9 - 119.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

And Wind Rider gives Brambleghast immunity to Hurricane. Brambleghast also has enough bulk to take a hit from future sight, but can tera to avoid damage if necessary:
252 SpA Articuno-Galar Future Sight vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Brambleghast: 255-301 (81.2 - 95.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Who up playin with they :pmd/orthworm:
Orthworm @ Leftovers
Ability: Earth Eater
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 248 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Protect
- Body Press
- Heavy Slam
Orthworm functions quite similarly to Bronzong as a Ground-immune Steel-type, but Orthworm has a stronger Body Press and access to Spikes, which it can easily lay up in front of both Flygon and Articuno-G.

:articuno-galar: 252 SpA Articuno-Galar Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Orthworm: 90-106 (26.1 - 30.8%) -- 6.4% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
:articuno-galar: 252 SpA Articuno-Galar Future Sight vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Orthworm: 98-116 (28.4 - 33.7%) -- 97.1% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
:flygon: 252 Atk Choice Band Flygon Scale Shot (3) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Orthworm: 54-66 (15.7 - 19.2%) -- approx. possible 8HKO after Leftovers recovery
:flygon: 252 Atk Choice Band Flygon Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Orthworm: 49-58 (14.2 - 16.9%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery
:flygon: 252 Atk Choice Band Flygon U-turn vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Orthworm: 34-41 (9.9 - 11.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

Orthworm can easily use Protect to shield its allies from a Future Sight combo, and alternate between Spikes and attacking to maximize its recovery and damage output.

Zangoose5000's Dragon Dance Flygon

EVs: 252 HP / 68 Atk / 188 Def
Tera Type: Dark
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Poltergeist

- Strength Sap

:flygon: vs Flygon
Flygon only has 3HKOs and is neutered by Strength Sap:
252 Atk Choice Band Flygon Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 188+ Def Brambleghast: 98-116 (31.2 - 36.9%) -- 75.5% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Flygon Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 188+ Def Brambleghast: 131-155 (41.7 - 49.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Stories's Tect Orthworm
Who up playin with they :pmd/orthworm:
Orthworm @ Leftovers
Ability: Earth Eater
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 248 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Protect
- Body Press
- Heavy Slam
Orthworm functions quite similarly to Bronzong as a Ground-immune Steel-type, but Orthworm has a stronger Body Press and access to Spikes, which it can easily lay up in front of both Flygon and Articuno-G.

:articuno-galar: 252 SpA Articuno-Galar Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Orthworm: 90-106 (26.1 - 30.8%) -- 6.4% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
:articuno-galar: 252 SpA Articuno-Galar Future Sight vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Orthworm: 98-116 (28.4 - 33.7%) -- 97.1% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
:flygon: 252 Atk Choice Band Flygon Scale Shot (3) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Orthworm: 54-66 (15.7 - 19.2%) -- approx. possible 8HKO after Leftovers recovery
:flygon: 252 Atk Choice Band Flygon Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Orthworm: 49-58 (14.2 - 16.9%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery
:flygon: 252 Atk Choice Band Flygon U-turn vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Orthworm: 34-41 (9.9 - 11.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

Orthworm can easily use Protect to shield its allies from a Future Sight combo, and alternate between Spikes and attacking to maximize its recovery and damage output.
You must vote for your sole favorite Pokemon (aka you have one vote) before Sunday, August 25th.

I wanna do a shout out to tera Water Specs Inteleon that 64% of the times just OHKO both and nobody mentioned it.

The correct answer this week is Bronzong and nothing comes close.
