Congrats to everyone with a winning submission! To these creators in particular, please provide any missing info for your accepted entries as per the official submission guidelines.
Additionally, while this isn't a strict requirement, you are welcome to post any movesets you have in mind for your winning submissions.

I'll keep discussion about the winning subs open for another 48 hours or so, whilst I prepare to open up subs for Slate #2 on Tuesday, August 27!

Feel free to add more when you can, or suggest them on the Discord when you join! And yes, as previously noted, we have that now - click or tap this link to join (also now present in the header post for this mod)! Also, now that movesets have been established, coder applications are officially open! We'll need all the help we can get when it comes to bringing this pet mod to the forum's battle simulators, so if you've had experience with programming pet mods before, by all means, please let me or lavarina know via PM, either here or on Discord. We are also in need of more members to add to the mod council so applications for such are likewise appreciated, since it's just me and lavarina moderating thus far, and we can only do so much given our respective responsibilities in Real Life.

**********

In the meantime, it's time to move onto our next slate...

Slate #2: Electrode, Diglett, Nidoran, Mankey. Venusaur, Rattata, Fearow, Pidgey!

For the next three slates for this mod, we will be focusing on Pokémon introduced during a specific set of generations - since there are nine gens thus far, I've divided them up into sets of three in generation release order. This slate will be focused on Pokémon from the regions from Generations I through III, i.e. Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn. There's no real limitations regarding what you can do with the Pokémon of your choice, but for this slate, you can only choose from the Pokémon introduced in any of the three regions listed above. Any entries based on Pokémon from Gen IV onward will be automatically vetoed, so it's best to save your ideas for those for their own slates.

There are two notable exceptions to the above rule, both related to Pokémon that were introduced in Gens I through III, but which received cross-generation evolutions or pre-evolutions in generations beyond that. As for how to handle these cases, see below:
  • For Pokémon who received cross-gen evolutions after Gen III, like Murkrow and Yanma, the regional evolution MUST be a Replacement Evolution, so you can't make a regional Honchkrow or Yanmega and have those evolve, for instance. You'll need to make a regional version of the base stage, as if it were a standalone like those Pokemon were at the time, and then have them evolve into something new.
  • For Pokémon that received cross-gen pre-evolutions after Gen III, like Mantine or Chimecho, you can make a regional variant for the baby stage as well, but this isn't a strict requirement. To take a canon example, Galarian Mr. Mime got a regional evo in Mr. Rime, but there isn't a Galarian Mime Jr. A regional form and evolution of the first stage of the line that was introduced will still be required, though - for instance, if you want to do something with the Mantine line, you'll need to make a regional variant of Mantine itself and give it a regional evolution, but a matching variant of Mantyke is optional.
Formatting your subs according to the official submission format for this pet mod is not a strict requirement, but doing so would be vastly preferable to save me and any coders brought on board in the future a ton of potential headaches. For convenience, the template for all submission elements is provided in the premiere post.

The deadline for submissions for this slate will be Tuesday, September 3 at 8 AM EST, meaning you have one week from today to get your entries in. I will need help from anyone with more experience with the meta for balance-related vetos as well when the evaluation period begins 48 hours before the official deadline. Until then, happy submitting!

NOTE: I had misread the slate order, assuming that Slate #2 would require you to make regional variants of Pokémon that are either Kantonian, Johtonian, or Hoennian variants. Because of this, due to the slate rules, two lines I had planned (Johtonian Vanillish and Johtonian Drifloon) would be illegal until the next slate, while one line (Kantonian Bounsweet) would be illegal until slate #4. Thus, Belldew, Orrean Porygon, and Distorted Larvitar will be taking their places.

New Region: Kanto
ziuLMU4.png

Pokémon: Kantonian Beldum
Category: Iron Wheel
New Typing: SteelFire
New Abilities: Speed Boost / Light Metal
New Stats: 40/35/55/30/60/80 (300)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Flame Wheel, Flame Charge, Sunny Day, Flare Blitz, Heat Crash
Removed Moves: All Psychic-type moves
Flavor/Design: Forced to live with the bikers of the Cycling Road, Kantonian Beldum adapted it's lifestyle to look very similar to them. Instead of a claw at the end of it's body, a round wheel is present instead. Using this wheel, it burns rubber into a puddle of pure lava, and it loves to show off it's stunts to all of it's nearby Poison-type Pokémon friends.
"A lot more easily agitated than a normal Beldum, the wheel at the end of it's body can spin so fast, that it leaves a trail of flames behind."
"This Pokémon adapted to the life of a Biker, and can often be found riding with them. It's tire never seems to puncture at all."

b5hhc70.png

Pokémon: Kantonian Metang
Category: Iron Wheel
New Typing: SteelFire
New Abilities: Speed Boost / Light Metal
New Stats: 60/55/75/50/80/100 (420)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Fire Punch, Spin Out, Clear Smog
Removed Moves
: All Psychic-type moves, Ice Punch, Rain Dance
Flavor/Design: Kantonian Metang has two large wheels in place of claws, and the spike on it's back has been replaced by a set of engines. By putting these two wheels together, it can form a giant Flame Wheel around it that can melt almost anything. Some Bikers use them in lieu of bikes, though special equipment is required to avoid melting.
"When it puts it's two wheels together, it can create a ring of fire comparable to a giant wheel. Some bikers ride them in lieu of actual bikes."
"It has a rude personality, always wanting what it wants to do and never caring for others that are not part of it's gang."

0ZJWTCz.png

Pokémon: Yamatang (Yamaha + Metang)
Evolution Method: Level up Kantonian Metang to level 45.
Category: Iron Wheel
Weight: 582.22 lbs.
New Typing: SteelFire
New Abilities: Speed Boost / Light Metal
New Stats: 100/115/95/70/100/120 (600)
Role: Speedster
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Electro Ball, Wild Charge
Flavor/Design: Instead of merging with a Metang to form Metagross, Yamatang merges with a Beldum to become a tricycle of terror, just as smart as a Metagross but twice as more violent! This Beldum goes on the front of it's body, with it's two arms moving to the back. It's engines are a lot wider, and it's front spike has grown wider to resemble a blade, with the two on it's side moving to the new head to form an engine as well. It has the personality of a violent biker gang leader, keeping bikes and Metangs within it's rule by trapping them in a lane of flames. It sometimes challenges other Pokémon to a race using it's flame trails to form a racetrack, though due to it's supreme speed, it almost always comes out on top.
"Yamatang is the result of a Beldum and Metang combining together. It's said that if you see a Yamatang and it's gang of bikers riding to town, it is a sign that the town will soon fall to a giant firestorm."
"It always wants to be the fastest Pokémon in it's alley. Those that are faster than it are challenged to a race of flames they are doomed to lose."

Pokémon
: Hoennian Magby
Category: Rain Drop
New Typing: Water
New Abilities: Hydration / Vital Spirit
New Stats: 45/70/37/75/55/83 (365)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Ocean Punch, Water Gun, Chilling Water, Water Pulse, Hydro Pump, Surf, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Rain Dance, Ice Punch
Removed Moves: All Fire-type moves, all Electric-type moves, all Poison-type moves, Smokescreen
Flavor/Design: Originally imported by Team Aqua to the Aqua Hideout to provide heat to their inventions, to their dismay, the electronics present throughout the hideout snuffed out Magby's flames in favor of the power of water. Beyond color, the only major difference between this Magby and the original is the lack of a collar, and a different pattern on it's chest.
"Magby was originally imported from another region to provide heat to thermal engines. However, the vast water of the Hoenn region converted it's firepower to water, foiling the plans of it's importers."
"Unlike other Water Pokémon, Magby can usually be found powering hydroelectric devices with it's water moves. It actually can't swim at all, a remnant of it's original form."
FVFS8vs.png

Pokémon: Hoennian Magmar
Category: Washout
New Typing: Water
New Abilities: Hydration / Vital Spirit
New Stats: 65/95/57/100/95/83 (495)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Liquidation, Charge, Flip Turn
Removed Moves: All Fire-type moves, all Electric-type moves, all Poison-type moves, Smokescreen
Flavor/Design: Compared to regular Magmar, Hoennian Magmar does not have any black parts on it's body. It's head retains the pattern of the regular Magby, and it does not a flame on it's tail, nor spikes on it's back. Obviously, it also has a wave pattern on it's chest in place of a flame pattern. After it's intial mishap, Team Aqua decided to improvise by having it serve as a hydroelectric generator, which it still serves a purpose in after their defeat. It can power a waterwheel with enough power to keep a city lit for days.
"Forced to improvise, it's importers put it to work as a hydroelectric power generator. It's believed that the only reason it enjoys this is because it is a lot less smarter than what it originally was."
"A hard working Pokémon specialized in powering hydroelectric devices, able to power a city on for days. Supposedly, the only moment where it does not work at all is when it is owned by another trainer."
xnnjsh5.png

Pokémon: Thermar (Thermal + Magmar)
Evolution Method: Trade Hoennian Magmar while it is holding the Electrizer.
Weight: 143.3 lbs.
Category: Thermal
New Typing: WaterElectric
New Abilities: Hydration / Vital Spirit
New Stats: 70/95/67/110/105/93 (540)
Role: Specially Defensive
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Thunder Punch, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Wild Charge
Flavor/Design: Thermar's tail grows a lot wider once it evolves, making it resemble a water turbine. It's head resembles the groove of a hydroelectric dam, with it's two arms now resembling a pair of turbines, with one turbine decorating the middle of it's body. A pair of goggles that resemble safety goggles cover it's eyes. Able to power almost anything with it's hydroelectric turbines, it can control the flow of water to power it's turbines to maximum overdrive.
"Thermar can be best described as a living hydroelectric generator. By spinning the turbines on it's hands and chest, it can keep almost anything attached to it powered for weeks. However, it does suffer from forgetfulness, sometimes forgetting what it's supposed to power."
"Despite it's forgetful personality, this Pokémon is a master of manipulating the flow of water. It can turn an ocean into an electricity filled hurricane in seconds simply by raising it's arms."

Pokémon
: Waspakid (Wasp + Elekid)
Category: Bee
New Typing:
Bug

New Abilities: Swarm / Vital Spirit
New Stats: 45/65/37/63/55/95 (360)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Wasp Punch, Infestation, Fury Cutter, Rage Powder, X-Scissor, Bug Buzz, U-Turn, Night Slash, Throat Chop, Poison Jab
Removed Moves
: All Electric-type moves except for Thunder Punch, all Fire-type moves
Flavor/Design: Originally imported by the Weather Institute to power their inventions, the Bug Maniacs of the local area inadvertently invited it into the tall grass of Route 119, where the harsh conditions of the tropical rainforest forced it to adapt to the trees, turning it into a strange wasp hybrid. It's prongs have been replaced by antenna, and it gains a tiny pair of wings. In addition, it's eyes become that of a Venonat's.
Or....that's what they thought. Shortly after witnessing what appeared to be an Hoennian Elekid in the trees, the actual Elekids were found in the tall grass unchanged, confirming that this "Elekid" was actually a separate species!
A bit of a gruff Pokémon, it never has any friends because it thinks it might backstab them at any moment.
"When this Pokémon was first discovered, it was believed to be a variant of Elekid. It's wings are too small to lift it off the ground, but they can create buzzing that can cause deafness for days."
"Waspakid makes it's home in tall trees, but it always prefers to live by itself. This is because it is actually paranoid: It believes that anything could cause it's demise at the slightest moment."

HOOF7lE.png

Pokémon: Waspabuzz (Wasp + Electabuzz)
Category: Wasp
New Typing:
Bug

New Abilities: Swarm / Vital Spirit
New Stats: 65/95/57/83/85/105 (495)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Fell Stinger, Cross Poison, Sunny Day, Fire Punch
Removed Moves: All Electric-type moves except for Thunder Punch
Flavor/Design: Waspabuzz has a head similar to that of a Beedrill, and four spiky wings. It's arms are taken from Elekid, while the tip of it's tail is a lot wider and resembles a hornet's stinger. A very violent Bug-type Pokémon that always drives everyone off the tree it lives in, it sometimes targets Pokémon that it thinks are a threat to the rainforest that it lives in.
"Waspabuzz gets it's name from the loud buzzing it's wings can make, which are comparable to lightning storms. Prolonged exposure to them can cause a fever resembling a wooden plank burning in a fire."
"A Pokémon that always likes to be alone, it drives off other Pokémon by buzzing. Sometimes, however, it tracks down some of the Pokémon that it knows will return, and destroys them with it's stinger."
wxrTtl1.png

Pokémon: Vespabuzz (Vespa + Electabuzz)
Evolution Method: Trade Waspabuzz while it is holding the Magmarizer.
Weight: 143.3 lbs.
Category: Assassin
New Typing:
Bug
Fire

New Abilities: Vesper Drive / Vital Spirit
New Stats: 70/123/62/95/75/115 (540)
Role: Lead Sweeper
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Flamethrower, Flare Blitz, Temper Flare, Fire Blast
Flavor/Design
: Building off from Waspabuzz's body, Vespabuzz gains a set of scarlet red hair that falls down from the back of it's head. It's tail is a lot bigger and properly resembles a hornet's stinger, while it's hands have been converted into hornet stingers that can fire the needles on it's tips like rockets. These needles causes million degree burns to anything they hit, and thus people once employed them as assassins, targeting the most dangerous people or Pokémon in Hoenn.
"It's arms can launch a pair of stingers like rockets towards it's enemies. Those stung by them suffer third degree burns so hot, they combust into a sea of flames almost instantly."
"If you tell Vespabuzz the name of a person or victim, it will fly towards them and eliminate them with it's stingers. In return, the client must survive it's buzzing, which is apparently a test to see if they are worthy."

Removed Moves: All Grass and Poison-type moves
Flavor/Design: While this Pokémon was believed to be a regional variant of Budew, it is in fact an entirely different species. It's front bib now gone, it rings every day both to wake people up for a good morning, and in a vain attempt to get the King of Bountiful Harvest's steed back to the world.
"At the crack of dawn, this Pokémon rings it's bell-like body around to wake everyone up for a brand new day. It was once thought to be a Galarian variant of Budew."
"People once rung Belldew as part of a song related to their king. The song was thought to have brought a bountiful harvest upon their land, blessed by the king himself."

Flavor/Design: Ringelia has two long ears where the spikes would be, with the middle one being absent. It's two roses are now a pair of bells that it rings to help people remember their lost ones, which would be a perfect fit if Calyrex's Steed was Spectrier, as it can often be found near the Old Cemetery.
"When it rings it's two bells around like they were sacred chimes, people around them can remember their loved ones."
"It's said that one rings it's bells every time a living being perishes, so people once referred them as "The Moment of Sorrow"."

New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Switcheroo, Foul Play, Thunder Wave, Confuse Ray
Flavor/Design
: Upon fully evolving, Jestelia gains the look of a classical jester, as if it had become Calyrex's personal court jester itself. From a yellow tuft of hair, a red streamer and a blue streamer extend from it, both having bells on their tips. It's red and blue body has a yellow middle portion, with red and blue arms extending from them, each with a bell at the end. It's red and blue legs also have bells on them, with red and blue tips on the end. This Pokémon tries it's best to cheer up everyone around it by performing strange dances that supposedly resembled the former jesters that once served Calyrex itself.
"This Pokémon resembles a jester that used to work for a legendary king. It dances around with it's six bells, cheering up everyone around it."
"Each of it's six bells are for a different occasion, but all of them are used for combat. It's said that the bell's sounds will never leave your head."

Removed Moves: All Electric-type moves, all Ice-type moves
Flavor/Design: To help broadcast their news to the world, the programmers of ONBS made a new Porygon specialized in getting the scoop and delivering it back to the news reporters! It's two legs have merged together, and it has a small antenna on it's head which it uses to transmit information back to the news station. It also lacks a tail for better wind resistance. However, due to a programming error, it can't actually fly, only being able to hover off the ground.
"A new version of Porygon designed for surveillance, due to a programming error, it cannot fly, much to it's dismay."
"The antenna on the top of it's head helps it transmit information to nearby news stations, such as the one that had it built in the first place."

Flavor/Design: Upon realizing that it could'nt fly, Orrean Porygon's programmers fitted a propeller on it's back which finally allowed it to do so! In addition, it possesses a camera eye on it's chest that can scan almost anything, and it's beak now has a bottom part. However, it is still unable to reach space like the original Porygon2 can.
"Now equipped with a propeller, it can finally fly. When it's not busy getting the scoop, you'll often find it playing around with it's new propeller."
"A much more aerodynamic body allows it to report on almost any scene imaginable. However, it still cannot reach space."

Alongside having a landing skid on it's legs, it's beak now has a high tech camera attached to it, with a propeller attached to the very back of it. Plus, unlike Porygon-Z, Porygon-N is actually stable! While it was planned to be a news reporter, more and more people have been using it as a security camera every day, tracking down criminals and reporting them to the officials.
"Porygon-N was originally designed to be a news reporter Pokémon, but officials took great interest in it's camera, which can record videos of over 21 hours long."

"It's said that if a person loses their life in the Distortion World, they become a Larvitar. No-one has ever seen it remove it's bandages."

It's said to be a hollow shell that keeps a vicious soul inside, and anyone that has dared to open it has become one with the soul itself, trapped inside of Distorted Pupitar's shell. Strangely, they often appear stacked in large groups like a graveyard.
"A lost soul is trapped inside this Pokémon's shell, powering it's attacks. All attempts to open it have resulted in the victim being trapped with the soul."

While it still possess a pharoah's headress, it now has a golden mouth, as well as a crown that resembles Giratina's head on the top. Coming out from the top and the sides is a mysterious shadow that resembles Giratina's shadow form, leading to the few scientists that discovered it to believe that it is a Sarcophogus designed to seal Giratina away if it's power is too great.
"Said to be the gateway between life and death itself, no mortal has ever escaped the tomb of Pupisiris, which can trap even the largest of souls inside."

Flavor/Design:
In the tropical paradise of Alola, waste disposal is paramount - and while Alolan Grimer and Muk were a success story in this regard, they weren't the only Pokémon which were employed in attempts to keep the garbage left by civilization from getting out of hand. At some point, a small group of Wingull were trained to clear out any edible waste, mostly in the form of food scraps discarded by restaurants, including stuff that had begun to rot. Like Grimer, these Wingull changed into a new type and appearance - but unlike Grimer, they swiftly became invasive vermin on par with Yungoose, escaping out into the wilderness and forming a breeding population which still terrorizes Alola today, flocks of them descending upon anyone carrying anything edible like a scene from a certain famous Pokéwood horror movie.
Alolan Wingull look similar to their counterparts in Hoenn, but have a black "cap" over their heads, with the two feathers sticking out the back now giving the impression of a bandanna; this patch angles slightly downwards along the otherwise light gray head, making the beady eyes below it look angrier. The wings are also black in color, with two black stripes on the (gray) back and belly joining them like the striped shirt of a stereotypical pirate or robber; the tail feathers are also black. The beak and feet are now steel-gray, though the black tip of the beak remains; the beak itself has a few tooth-like serrations near the end of it on both lobes, making it look a bit like a pair of tongs. In the male, the bottom of the head and neck, from the back of the lower beak to the first stripe on the belly, is a purplish red in color, with the wing stripes and the ends of the tailfeathers also being red.

"Living on a diet of scavenged scraps and garbage, the stomach juices of this kind of Wingull are highly toxic. In a fight, it will shoot poison right in the face of its attacker."
"Flocks of these Wingull mob anyone carrying food, pelting victims with volleys of corrosive spit. Docks where these invasive pests gather have to be replaced regularly."

Flags (ex: Contact, Sound): Ballistic
Distribution: Signature move of Noxkua
Flavor/Design:
When Alolan Wingull fully embrace the life of crime they've turned to, they evolve not into the comparatively mellow Pelipper, but a MUCH nastier form that acts as the flock leader: Noxkua. Whereas Pelipper is quite compact, Noxkua is shaped more like Fearow (and has the same size and weight as Fearow, too - identical to Pelipper's in other words), with larger wings, a longer neck, and a narrower beak. The wings are like those of Pelipper, but twice as long proportionally, with the back edges being scalloped in a similar manner to those of Swellow; the tail is also forked like Swellow's is rather than Pelipper's short stub. The neck is noticeably thicker than that of Fearow, and covered in shabby black feathers except for the vivid red throat pouch. The rest of the body is black in color, save for the chest and a "mask" around the eyes, which are gray; the eyes themselves resemble those of Pelipper, but with the upper part having an "angry" downward slant. Both lobes of the beak are steel-gray with the upper one having a black tip, but the lower beak extends only halfway down the jaw, the rest being taken up by the skin of the throat; the inside edges of the front half of the beak also have serrated edges resembling teeth for seizing prey, and the top half of the beak also has a petrel-style nasal tube shaped like the barrel of a blunderbuss instead of regular nostrils, which is what it uses to launch its Poison-type attacks. The top of the head also has a crest shaped like a tricorn hat rather than the swept-back crest of Pelipper, with a single red feather sticking out the top like a plume.

Stat Changes:
Slower but sturdier than its cousin from Hoenn, Noxkua's typing boasts five resistances, including three double ones, giving this flying tank a number of useful switch-in scenarios. It's hampered by its somewhat mediocre HP and its poor Speed especially, but its powerful Special Attack allows it to benefit from impressive STAB in the form of Hurricane, Sludge Bomb, and Gastric Blast (though rain team support will obviously be needed in the case of the former). Toxic combined with Corrosion can put a serious dent on things hoping to stall it out, while Roost offers decent healing to help it last a bit longer in a drawn-out fight. Unlike the swift, physically-inclined Crobat, this is a slow special tank with a blunderbuss glued to its face a la Toucannon, blowing up stuff in front of it to clear the way for faster sweepers to move in.

"These flying pirates command great flocks of Wingull, and together they rain noxious acid down upon prey and enemies alike. They like to follow fishing boats, hoping to mug the crew for an easy meal."
"By spraying jets of a foul-smelling acid from its tube-like nose, it can scare enemies away from their hard-won food. It shares common descent with Kilowattrel, but the two species attack each other on sight."

Wingull is a perfectly good seagull, but the stories I've heard of gulls attacking people and small animals as well as the trope of gulls stealing food led me to want a more menacing seabird for this variant. It's based on a combination of a black-headed gull and a gull-billed tern, two seabirds native to Hawaii, with the acid spit being based on the same technique used by fulmars. The original regional evo for the Gen 8 version of this mod was based on a magnificent frigatebird and a pirate captain, but after the reveal of Kilowattrel I had to change the species, and since I wanted to keep the pirate theming I decided to base it on a different group of kleptoparasitic seabirds, the skuas. This change in inspiration led to me changing the name as well.

We don't have any explicitly pirate-themed Pokémon yet as far as I'm aware, and while I'm pretty sure a ton of people have already made a Pelipper variant based on a frigatebird, they usually make it Flying/Dark because of the "evil" attributes, so I went with Flying/Poison for mine to make it more distinct; not only would a Flying/Dark tank be too similar to Mandibuzz, but the only Poison/Flying-type thus far, Crobat, has a completely different playstyle than what I went with here.

Paras are normally at the complete mercy of the tochukaso mushrooms on their backs, which gradually takes them over as they evolve into Parasect; in other places, this also makes them competitors with the Morelull line. However, the harsh climate of Galar, especially during the Darkest Day, forced Paras and Morelull to both retreat into the safety of the many caves of the region. It seemed there were too little resources to support them both, and they would both be doomed if not for a remarkable occurrence. It isn't precisely known when the phenomenon of a cave-dwelling Paras with a paler exoskeleton than normal and a Morelull rooted to its back first occurred, but they must've discovered that by sharing resources instead of fighting over them, both could benefit from their respective strengths, the Paras offering mobility and the Morelull using its light to both navigate and lure in Grass-types, allowing them to split the spoils. There don't seem to be any tochukaso growing on this Paras, either - these particular mushrooms are in fact found nowhere in Galar, having apparently been entirely outcompeted and replaced by the Morelull. Because both species evolve at the exact same level, their fusion also allows them to share level experience as well, and as such, the two of them evolve simultaneously.

"Paras and Morelull are normally competitors, but in Galar, they learned to cooperate to survive the Darkest Day. Together, they hunt for Grass-type Pokémon in dark caves and forests."
"The Morelull on this Paras' back is constantly draining energy from the tochukaso it displaced when they joined forces. Once the tochukaso finally dies off, both Pokémon are ready to evolve."

Notable Moves:
  • Added Level-Up Moves: Moonblast
  • New TMs: Calm Mind
Flavor:
Due to living in the darkness of caves, Parasync has an even paler exoskeleton than its predecessor, and its foreclaws are also noticeably smaller, while the now-evolved Shiinotic is now rooted permanently to its back, its longer mycelium arms being what the pair use to pick up and manipulate things, including seizing prey. Despite being in full control of its body, though, Parasync still has milky-white, sightless eyes like Parasect due to their subterranean lifestyle, so it is dependent on Shiinotic to guide it around. While the bug remains alive and well and lives symbiotically with its Shiinotic partner rather than being taken over, it should be noted that the Shiinotic, despite likewise depending on its "steed" to even move, has a free will of its own. They may regard each other as siblings in arms, as bickering yet inseparable rivals, as a rider and its loyal mount, or even as romantic partners (what with both sharing the Grass egg group), but however they view one another, their mutual cooperation is essential for their survival, and any friction between the two causes them to "lock up" and stop moving altogether until they come to terms again, though luckily, they generally don't stay angry with one another for longer than a day or two. Some have suggested trying the same process of fusion between Kantonian Paras and other kinds of mushroom Pokémon, but alas, this has proven unsuccessful so far - it seems that there's something about Galar's climate and natural history specifically that causes the Paras/Parasect and Morelull/Shiinotic found there to see each other as friends rather than enemies. Still, perhaps it's worth investigating as to whether Paras has managed to strike up similar partnerships with native mushroom Pokémon in other regions...

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
Parasect, while interesting in concept, is sadly hampered by one of the worst combinations of ability and typing, and anything it can do competitively is done better by other Grass-types in the same tier. This sub was my way of trying to redeem it in terms of gameplay while also preventing it from getting implicitly lobotomized, and for what it's worth, Moonblast and Bug Buzz with 105 SpA aren't too bad a special-attacking combination - Moonblast even covers for Bug Buzz's ineffectiveness against Fighting, which alongside their 4X resistance to it enables this dynamic duo to serve as a useful switch-in to Fighting-type attackers. Coverage options include Poison, Psychic, Grass, and Ground, giving it more options against types that its STAB moves are walled by. Unfortunately, Parasync's terrible Speed is not improved at all even with its new Shiinotic friend, often forcing it to run Recover or Giga Drain just to stay relevant, while also preventing it from making use of such effective support moves as Spore, Leech Seed, or even Thunder Wave (Shiinotic sends its regards for that one), even without the extreme negative priority introduced by Mycelium Might. That said, though, that same nonexistent Speed combined with its impressive Special Attack can make it frighteningly effective as a Trick Room sweeper, enabling the pair to either make better use of the aforementioned support moves or set up with Calm Mind before unleashing their synchronized wrath upon their unsuspecting opposition.

"Parasync carries its Shiinotic partner around in exchange for lighting with which they both attract Grass-type prey. While it retains full control over its mind, its companion has a will of its own, so if they disagree on something, they can't do anything."
"During the breeding season, Shiinotic persuades its host to climb to the tops of trees. After laying its eggs in the branches, Parasync lets its partner coat them with its spores, setting up partnerships between their offspring as soon as they're born."

This entry was inspired by this DeviantArt comic, and also by the discovery that some species of cicada have formed a symbiotic relationship with the Cordyceps fungus that once parasitized them. I changed the choice of mushroom 'mon from Amoongus in the original comic to Shiinotic for flavor reasons and to give this line an interesting new typing, and to go with the lore (as well as this being branded as a new species just for this mod), I also gave the "Parasect" itself a few troglodytic characteristics, namely blindness and gradual loss of color, to distinguish it further from the unfortunately zombified Kantonian version.

This Doduo lives in tropical forests, and has a fruity scent to it. Its feathers are a dark brown rather than tan with a slightly frizzled, almost spiny look to them, and a round bald patch can be seen on the front revealing green skin. Several black dots surround the bases of the necks, which remain black in color, while the feet and beak are the same shade of green as the bald patch; notably, the beaks are shorter, thicker, and rounder, almost looking like fruits that were cut in half. The eyes are yellow rather than black, to better stand out against the darker color of its two faces. The shiny has orange eyes and pink skin and beaks instead of green, as a reference to pink kiwi fruit, but is otherwise unchanged.

"A Doduo found in tropical forests, it adapted to a vegetarian diet to harvest the abundance of food in the jungle. Its feathers have a delicious scent due to eating so much fruit."

Flavor:
A massive, three-headed rainforest bird with no wings to speak of, Dodreema's plump, round body is covered in mottled dark green, leafy plumage whose drooping fern fronds fade to brown on the ends. This makes it resemble a massive bush when at rest, its folded legs hidden under it and its long neck held near the ground and curled around its body. When it has to move, however, the "bush" springs to life and rises up on immense legs more like those of Tyrantrum than any bird, entirely covered in rocky gray-brown scales like petrified tree bark over its legs and sporting three blunt, hoof-like black claws on each columnar foot. All three of its necks resemble thin tree trunks, covered in rings of gray bark that are scaled in texture like the legs, and the heads are covered in the same leaf-feathers as the body, their faces obscured by more drooping fronds like "emo hair" crossed with a mop head. Protruding from each vegetative mass is an enormous stony beak, dark brown in color with a whitish gray interior, that resembles both a coconut shell and a small boulder when closed; these beaks are shorter and sturdier than those of Dodrio, and can use as a fearsome weapons against anything that threatens their owner via slamming pecks and crushing bites - despite this savage look, however, it is an herbivore, feeding on fruits, leaves, and hard seeds, though it's nonetheless a terror to any Grass-type it can fit down its throat. Its tail and the tops of its heads sport lighter green, leafy plumes for display, resembling those of Dodrio. The shiny color scheme has dark red-brown bark on their legs, necks, and tail feathers, and the beaks are light green like a ripe coconut shell.

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
A living fossil of sorts, Dodreema has the same type weaknesses and resistances as a far more ancient Pokémon, Cradily. It likewise has a similar stat setup, but differs by having more physical attacking power and HP at the cost of its defenses, though it still has decent mixed bulk that can help it deal with Electric, Water, and Normal attackers without too much issue. Its advantage over Cradily is that it's not as easy to switch into or set up on due to possessing both greater offensive power and several strong coverage attacks such as Superpower, Iron Head, Earthquake, Brave Bird, and Beak Buster - the last two help cover for Bug-types that resist Rock, and Beak Breaker works as a utility/damage tool to chip away at opponents' defenses if you don't like Brave Bird's recoil. That's not getting into its devastating STAB attacks like Wood Hammer and Head Smash, though if you're not fond of recoil there's also Leaf Blade and Stone Edge - Ancient Power's stat boosts are tempting, but it being a special attack means the results might not be worth it. Leaf Guard makes Dodreema a viable choice for Sun Teams which can justify Solar Blade as its Grass-type STAB, while Stamina and Harvest are both useful in their own ways for defensive purposes with the former allowing it to better trade hits with bulky physical attackers and the latter giving it more healing and buff options with various Berries. Like Cradily, though, it is as slow as it is enormous, and its vulnerability to common attacking types like Fighting and Ice often necessitate allies that can clear away such threats to give it a better chance of bringing its hardest-hitting moves into play.

"This ancient kind of Dodrio lives deep in the jungle, soaking up the sun all day with its plant-like plumage. While it mainly eats fruit, it may also prey on smaller Grass-type Pokémon with its three powerful beaks."
"The leafy feathers growing from its immense body allow it to camouflage itself from danger. Fossils of its ancestors are thought to have inspired local legends of giants that shook the ground as they walked."

This design is based on the prehistoric anatid (duck) relative, Gastornis, and specifically the fact that despite being historically portrayed as a fearsome predator, it was more recently confirmed to actually be a plant-eater - it does fit this latest research, but towards plant Pokémon it acts like the old art of "Diatryma" preying on smaller animals. This was originally going to be a standalone sub for a different mod, but I ultimately decided to sub it here as a regional Doduo evo instead since it just made sense to tie it into the already-existing flightless birds of Kanto, so I gave it a jungle aesthetic since the bird it's now based on lived in a tropical environment at the time of its existence. The Doduo variant followed suit, and of course, it's a pun on the kiwi, as in both the bird and the fruit.

Flavor/Design:
Somehow, a Staryu - or a piece thereof; seeing as starfish can multiply after being cut apart, who would know the difference? - ended up being dropped off in the Distortion World, and reacted to its eldritch energy, turning into a living stone effigy of itself. Attempting to move led to it crumbling to pieces, but then they started making more and more Staryu, and now there's a whole army of these evil-eyed stony abominations everywhere! These Staryu are almost blindingly white instead of brown (or slate-gray in case of the shiny), with tentacles that are segmented and conical instead of pyramid-like, as well as being narrower and longer; these twitch and wriggle like octopus tentacles and allow it to haul itself slowly along, since it can't simply yeet itself like a shuriken anymore. The golden center portion is still there, but brass-colored instead, and the jewel in the center is now vivid acid-green with a red diamond-shaped marking in the center like a slitted pupil. It is this gemstone that emits a mysterious force that locks down the nervous system of its victims, allowing it to drain all the life force from them; petrified husks are often left in their wake, with some still crawling on them as though trying to suck the dregs of life from them with the sucker-like mouths in the midst of all their tentacles. Spooooooky.

Stat and Gameplay Changes:
I didn't change the numbers at all compared to Kantonian Staryu's stat spread, just rearranged them - this Staryu is much slower but more heavily attack-oriented than its predecessor. Its Special Attack is still its best stat, but there's a distinct lack of good special Rock attacks to make use of it, so the poor thing is stuck with Power Gem and Ancient Power. Evolution will definitely change this, however...

"A type of Staryu from the Distortion World whose body is completely petrified. The mysterious force allowing it to move like a living Staryu comes from the eye-like gemstone at its center."
"Staring into its central jewel seems to induce extreme terror, leaving victims scared stiff as it makes its escape. Some say it can even take over the mind of anyone looking directly at it."

Flavor/Design:
Like Distorted Staryu, this is a Starmie with thinner, segmented arms than its Kanto form, its center gem being the same round green one with a red pupil as Staryu. Notably, though, five of its arms sport a simple round gem on the end as well, making them essentially eyestalks; the other five are plain. The arms of this Starmie are blue in color with darker blue random streaks on them, with the shiny's being red, referring to sapphire and ruby, but also blue and red marble; the center portion remains bronze-colored like with its predecessor.

Potential Competitive Info:
As with Distorted Staryu, Speed, Special Attack, and Special Defense have been rearranged to produce a Starmie that's slower, but specially sturdier and more powerful when it comes to ranged attacks. With the added Ghost type, it can now make good use of Shadow Ball, but some more specialized attacks might be useful for it later...
This line was originally going to be just Distorted Staryu and Stargoneion below, but I added Distorted Starmie for this resubmission to smooth the transition. I like the idea of it logically progressing from five arms, to ten, to fifteen total.

"Upon evolving, five of its arms have developed jewel-like eyes of their own, allowing it to see in any direction. However, only the largest central eye is capable of unleashing its deadliest attacks."
"If you somehow survive looking into its middle eye, the spirit energy emitted by it may still drive you insane. Those who've escaped it will forever react to anything star-shaped with absolute terror."

Flavor/Design:
This many-armed eldritch horror resulted from a Distorted Starmie's regenerating process going haywire. It has fifteen arms in total, every one of them narrower, longer, and segmented and conical rather than pyramidal, and again, its center portion is now a bit larger proportionally, and is brass-colored with a round, green gem sporting a red diamond-shaped "pupil", with five small spikes in a ring around it. However, its five main arms are now colored rusty red with dull pink streaks like red marble (the shiny's arms are black, i.e. black marble), and each segment of each arm has a small spike on the underside for additional traction. The secondary arms are simple stalks which are stark white in color, and lapis-lazuli blue in the shiny. Most frightening of all, every one of its arms is tipped with a smaller green gem of its own; the ones on the secondary arms are little round gems, but each of the ones on the main arms has its own pupil. This enables it to see virtually anything anywhere, and some even believe it can see into the past or future, though this has yet to be proven. Notably, unlike the Kantonian Staryu line, it lies flat on the ground, at least five of its arms raised like eyestalks at all times while the rest pull it along. On its underside, at the center of all of its arms, is a five-part beak not unlike Omastar, the purpose of which is unclear - like Distorted Staryu and Starmie, it "eats" by absorbing life force through its eyes - but whatever it's used for, it can't be any good...
The shiny color schemes of Distorted Staryu, Distorted Starmie, and Stargoneion have vivid orange eyes with dark brown pupil markings. This is of course a reference to tiger's eye gemstones, while the regular colors are a more saturated version of cat's eye gems.

Stat Changes:
For this last stage, I added 20 points to HP, and 20 points each to Special Attack and Special Defense, but removed 20 points from Speed for balance's sake. Slower but even more specially gifted than either Kantonian or Distorted Starmie, Stargoneion is a beam-spammer that's mainly here to royally fuck up someone's day while the chance is there, and preferably before it gets shattered to bits and dumped in the trash to make way for the next party member. Thankfully, its Ghost-type gives it a Fighting immunity and it can hit right back with Shadow Ball and Death Stare, while Gem Glimmer and Refracture are also useful for dishing out paralysis and lowering accuracy respectively. Its main failing is its six type weaknesses, all common and all dangerous, and while Draining Kiss helps with recovery and against Dark-types, its HP isn't quite good enough to justify it so much, and while it still has plenty of Water and Electric attacks to take on Ground- and Water-types respectively, that's about as far as its coverage goes, sadly. Of note however is that hidden ability, Serene Grace - given that two of its best STAB moves have a chance of inducing status, and two others have a chance of lowering specific stats, Stargoneion is capable of pulling off some pretty hax strategies involving either technique, abusing either flinching or paralysis to stop opponents in their tracks and give itself or its teammates the chance to really cause mayhem.

"Its many eyes are said to be able to see the past or the future, but no one has found out if this is true - and it's too hostile for this to be of use anyway. One can tell if a Stargoneion has been around by the presence of statues that look disturbingly life-like."
"Its appearance strikes fear into the hearts of even the bravest of souls, allowing it to freely terrorize everyone it comes across. Ironically, shields and masks are sometimes fashioned in its image to protect their owners from other supernatural threats."

Did you know that there's a genus of basket star - a member of the brittle star order - called Gorgonocephalus? I've wanted to do something with that idea for a while now, but I wasn't sure how to implement it in a way that was only minimally family-unfriendly. When I saw that Distortion World variants are possible and that a few are accepted, though, I realized that a Ghost-type that drained life force in the same way as how Yveltal's Oblivion Wing is portrayed in the anime as turning things to stone was a pretty solid option, and even fits the classic gorgon's gaze well enough. The other major inspiration for this line is the gorgoneion, a Classical bit of iconography portraying Medusa's head on the shield of Athena as a ward against evil, even though Medusa herself was monstrous when she was alive. This is why I added in some flavor about masks and shields depicting it being used as wards, which also references the evil eye amulets of the Middle East (I would've made the gem colors and patterns a more direct reference to that, but I decided that felt too on-the-nose). Add in some influences from D&D's Beholder, starfish having simple eyes on the ends of each of their arms, and the fact that echinoderm skeletons are made of calcium carbonate - the same substance that comprises chalk, which in turn is formed from the fossilized remains of ancient sea creatures - and there you have it! I really like this concept, actually, and regardless of whether it ends up in this pet mod or not, I might end up keeping it for my own use later... ;)

  • Added Egg Moves: (Flying) Hone Claws
Flavor/Design:
A Hoothoot adapted for life in deserts, it has a small, light orange-brown body with a white belly sporting dark brown spots like dirt stains; the ends of its wings also have dark brown mottling. Its legs are longer than Johtonian Hoothoot and are gray in color (the beak is gray as well), with four short toes on each foot and very large white spade-like talons in an X-shape; it still stands on one foot to minimize contact with the heated ground. It doesn't have the brow tufts of its Johto cousin, its large amber-colored eyes being surrounded by thick black markings akin to a pair of glasses, though it does have two white feather tufts with dark brown tips poking out of the top of its head.

Stat and Gameplay Changes:
I was thinking of a more defensive build here, I switched the Speed and physical Defense stats around, and took 3 points from Special Attack to add to physical Attack to equalize the two. The Ground typing offers a nice Electric immunity and a nice resistance to Poison, though don't get too cocky when using it - its weakness to Ice is even worse.

"With talons that can tunnel straight through solid stone, it digs into the ground to make its den. This maze-like system of tunnels soon becomes home to other small Pokémon."
"It gathers berries from trees around its territory and leaves them scattered around the entrances to its tunnels. It then preys on Bug-type Pokémon attracted by the berries."

  • Added TM Moves: Same as Orrean Hoothoot
Flavor/Design:
In this case, the head and torso smoothly join with one another, and the standing on one leg is kept - this design is a middle-ground between Johtonian Noctowl and the unused beta design. Essentially, it has the overall shape of the beta design, but the same spade-like talons as Orrean Hoothoot, the same eyes and beak as canon!Noctowl but the brow tufts of the beta (which are white striped and tipped with dark brown), and rows of V-shaped dark brown markings like Noctowl's on the white belly as well as Noctowl's large wings. The color scheme is unchanged, light orange-brown with a white belly, gray beak and feet with white spade-like claws in an X-shaped formation, wings edged with dark brown mottling like dirt stains, and amber-colored eyes surrounded by rings of white and dark brown, though the eyes themselves are larger and rounder, almost like a pair of flight goggles or binoculars. The tail is also shorter and dark brown in color, and shaped a bit like the head of a shovel.

Stat and Gameplay Changes:
This time around, I switched the Defense and Special Attack, but also took 10 points from Speed to add to the defense, so the physical and special defenses are equal. Then I noticed its main weak point was its attacking power, so I took 10 more points from Attack and added 5 to each offensive stat for slightly more offensive punch. Not that it matters much, since this is intended as a heavily defensive Pokémon, but still...

"Though its wings are large and strong, it only rarely flies, instead chasing after its prey on the ground. It's said that it is weighed down by the ancient knowledge it stores in its feathers."
"Its senses are fine-tuned for hunting deep beneath the earth, but this leaves little room for remembering things. It spends most of its time excitedly searching for new secrets to uncover."

Flavor/Design:
An immense, almost dinosaurian kaiju-like owl monster, this massive bird-zilla is definitely unlike the previous two stages and, if anything, looks more like Excadrill and Noctowl had a baby that in turn had a baby with Tyranitar. It stands on two legs with a short, trowel-shaped dark brown tail hanging low behind it, its digitigrade feet still sporting X-shaped feet and large spade-like claws, but its legs are very thick to support its stocky, upright body. Its large wings can fold around it like a cape, the outside being light brown edged with darker brown like dirt stains, but as they unfurl to unleash its Ground-type attacks, they reveal a forest-green interior along with huge muscular feathered arms with large Ursaring-like clawed hands, the arms being not unlike an extinct therizinosaur in shape; the green part has several glowing yellow star-shaped markings as well. The large head resembles Noctowl's in shape, but the tufts are straighter with a white coloring and dark brown bands; the amber eyes are again larger and rounder with dark brown and white rings around them like goggles. The lower part of the face below the eyes is white, but the plumage around the rest of the head and a ruff around the neck is dark brown almost like a hood; the ruff has a dark green outer part as well like a leafy wreathe, with a few small red berries on it here and there. Finally, its beak is much larger, shaped more like Braviary's than Noctowl's.
The shiny sprites for all three stages of this line simply reverse the dark brown and light orange-tan coloring, more like an actual burrowing owl's color scheme. Archathene's shiny sprite has golden berries and a vivid sapphire blue color and cyan-colored stars on the underside of its cloak.

Stat Changes:
Trading its Flying type for Fairy, this third stage adds 10 points to HP, 35 points to each offensive stat, and 10 points to Speed, allowing it to be a decently serviceable mixed tank with such STAB moves as Earthquake, Moonblast, Earth Power, Play Rough, and Spirit Break, with a bunch of Psychic moves and other stuff like Metal Claw and Night Slash as coverage. Of note however is that it is also capable of employing a variety of supporting moves such as Rototiller, Moonlight, Whirlwind as an egg move, and especially Dream Dust - while that last one isn't 100% accurate, it guarantees putting a foe to sleep, which can seriously screw over an opponent's plans if timed properly. Its main drawback is that it has little in the way of countering the types it's weak to, with only Heat Wave to cover Steel, Grass, and Ice, and nothing against Water; while its HP is hefty enough that it can take a hit, its actual defensive stats might leave something to be desired. It does learn Roost for recovery, but if you want, you can instead run it with Harvest and a health-restoring berry to free up a moveslot for a different move to help with its offensive stats. Calm Mind or Swords Dance work fine for this, whichever you're more comfortable with!

"It sleeps deep underground during the daytime, accumulating immense power by dreaming about the wisdom of long-lost civilizations. As it hunts for knowledge all night long, other Pokémon wisely remain at a safe distance."
"Though it has lost its ability to fly altogether, its large wings are still used to shield it from the elements as it travels the world in search of discoveries. The dust it can throw from its plumage can put someone to sleep within minutes."

This is another regional evolution idea that technically existed in my head prior to submitting it to this mod - it was originally meant for a little just-for-fun project involving creating an entire fakemon region based on the Hololive talents! The original intent here was just a Ground-type Hoothoot with a burrowing owl/archaeologist motif that evolved into something else instead of Noctowl, an obvious reference to Mumei Nanashi (who has an owl motif and is said to embody human civilization). Since there's already a variant Hoothoot/Noctowl line in this mod, however, I've had to adjust accordingly. The Harvest ability references not only Mumei's sweet berry obsession in Minecraft, but also the importance of agriculture in early human civilization; Trace meanwhile refers to how versatile mankind is along with Archathene's interest in knowledge and discovery. Archathene's design also harkens back to large Cretaceous bird relatives such as therizinosaurs and dromaeosaurs, with the folkloric sandman, D&D's Owlbear and Malfestio from Monster Hunter mixed in as well.

Distribution: Signature move of the Unovan Aipom line
Flavor/Design:
Once upon a time, a bioengineering corporation decided to bring in several Aipom for testing of some very dubious technology said to alter and enhance their DNA. Some of these enhanced Aipom escaped, and since then they've run amok and displaced a lot of native Pokémon (the elemental monkeys especially), not unlike the time when a real-world medical company accidentally got a bunch of macaques loose in Texas. This Aipom has black fur instead of purple, and though its face is much the same, there are two blue dots like ocelli above its normal eyes like on a spider; the eyes are also blue in color rather than white. The biggest change though is its tail - Now, it stands on the "hand" on the end, which is yellow and fuzzy like a Joltik's body, its long fingers resembling Joltik's legs with yellow fuzz and blue tips, and arranged almost like the legs of a spider.

Stat and Gameplay Changes:
For this line, I decided to do something quite different - instead of rearranging the stats from the base form's stat spread, I subtracted the HP stat from the BST and divided the rest by 5, which got me and even 61 for all stats in the case of Aipom. Because the Moody ability raises one stat at random aside from HP, I figured it'd make the most sense to have all stats except HP be equal. There is thus no predictability regarding what Moody will do to Aipom - either the special or physical stats could be maxed out, allowing it to perform all kinds of roles depending on the situation, but only if the RNG is in your favor at precisely the right moment. You can try and skew specific stats in your favor with specific moves like Agility or Nasty Plot, but specific sets will need the Moody ability to affect the correct stats for the job. This is your best bet at any boost-related shenanigans, as its other two abilities offer no benefit given that most of its moves have 100% accuracy (meaning you have basically little reason to use CompoundEyes in the first place), and Run Away... is Run Away. :/

"Altered by a strange technology, these Aipom have gained bizarre characteristics that defy classification. Every action of theirs seems unfocused and random."
"Wherever a troop of Unovan Aipom appears, chaos inevitably ensues. On very rare occasions, however, they leave the place more orderly than it was before."

This regional evolution builds off of Aipom's design rather than Ambipom's, and though there's still a hint of Ambipom in its head-to-body proportions, the head still resembles Aipom's more, with big round blue eyes and no visible nostrils. It has four occeli instead of two, and three jagged wire-thin antennae come out of the top of its head with yellow deely-bobber-like balls on the end. It has six stunted limbs, four arms and two legs; the arms are yellow in color with purple elbows. As with Unovan Aipom, the tails are the biggest change - it now has three, with the swollen purple-colored hands each resembling the abdomen of a Galvantula. The long fingers are blue with yellow fuzz from the knuckle to near the tip, and the purple part of the hands has yellow markings like Galvantula's abdomen. The tails themselves join together at a large purple ball on the main body's butt like a Hamadryas baboon's swollen rump; this in turn joins with the underbelly that is also purple in color. Weirdest of all, there's an eye like Galvantula's large blue ones on the top of each hand, as well, suggesting that the hands have brains and behaviors of their own.
The shiny sprites for this line use the same shiny colors as with Joltik and Galvantula themselves for their tails. The body and head fur meanwhile is purple - not purple like Johtonian/Sinnohan Aipom and Ambipom's though, but purple like Genesect's...

Stat Changes:
The same change I made to Unovan Aipom's stats, taking the HP from the BST and dividing the remainder by 5 for the rest, also applies to Arachnipom compared to Ambipom's stats; in this case, though, I had to add a little to the HP so the numbers could result in even integers. The general idea is still the same, however. Normal and Bug STAB are fun and all, but the Electric typing is also worth noting - CompoundEyes Thunder is an obvious application, but I also tailored its signature move, Memory Bug, with this ability's benefit in mind. Because a successful Memory Bug can prevent an opponent from using the same move twice in a row, it's great for shutting down foes that rely on spamming one specific attack in order to succeed. Considering that the alternative is Moody, this might actually be a pretty decent option if you can get a good Nasty Plot in - add in Hyper Voice for Normal STAB and probably Thunder as an anti-Flying coverage option, and you should be golden. A pity that this thing has no answers to Rock or Fire-type moves, but given the fact that U-turn is almost as useful for it as it is for Ambipom (poorer speed notwithstanding), there's no reason for it to stay in a prolonged brawl anyway.

"It is a fastidious Pokémon with an emphasis on cleanliness and organization. Its many tails allow it to efficiently set things exactly as it feels they should be, though its methods may sometimes come off as peculiar."
"While capable of taking care of themselves well enough, these unnatural creations prefer to follow instructions as much as possible. As handy as this is, it can also lead to disaster if their trainer's orders are vague enough."

This line is inspired by a fakemon family created by n0rtist that has since been scrapped - I did my damndest to distinguish them from n0rtist's take in terms of design if not concept, but if they find out and take issue I will gladly withdraw it. The "spider monkey" pun is a typical way to go about the Normal/Bug type combo, but n0rtist's implementation of that idea is genius in and of itself. See, in computer science, an algorithm is a finite sequence of rigorous well-defined instructions typically used to solve a class of specific problems or to perform a calculation - essentially, it's a series of specifications for performing calculations and data processing. Sorting algorithms aim to put every item on a list in order, and while there are different ways of going about this, one of the least efficient, Bogosort, is simply to randomly order everything and hope you get a sorted list by chance. For Monbogo's design, n0rtist compared this to the Infinite Monkey Theorem, wherein an infinite number of monkeys typing for an infinite length of time can eventually write out a coherent piece of literature... but needless to say, nobody wants to wait that long! Hence, more efficient sorting algorithms like Quick sort, which Atelgo's design references. I decided to distinguish my regional Aipom by not referring to this, but instead referencing Merge sort, which is equally efficient as a sorting algorithm - basically, you divide the unsorted list into a number of sublists, each containing one element (a list of one element is considered sorted), and then repeatedly merge these sublists to produce new sorted sublists until there is only one fully sorted list left. Hence, the three long fingers on each of Arachnipom's tail hands representing a "joining" of three sorted sublists, then each of the three tails in turn joining to a single body (with the tail hands also mimicking Joltik and Galvantula in the vein of the spider-tailed viper). There's also three pairs of limbs in a bug-like configuration, three pairs of eyes, and in general an emphasis on the number three for everything. This refers to the ternary or base 3 numbering system, which uses only 0, 1, and 2 as its digits, and is in fact the most economical way of representing integer numbers.

mothman legend. Absol and Mothman both share the theming of showing up before disasters happen and Mothman is based in America. Egg Moves: Curse, Hypnosis, Roost, Tailwind, Poison Fang, Moonlight, Dragon Breath
Flavor/Design: Looks similar to Aerodactyl, except its color scheme of Purple & Light Grey is instead Yellow & Dark Grey. Its tail is now closer to one of Xurkitree’s unplanted outlets. Despite its name, this is actually styled to be more of a bat.
Competitive Info: As the prevo, its not intended to be used as much over its evo. Its poor bulk leaves it a fairly underwhelming choice for an eviolite user. However, it could still find some use given its high speed and decent attack, posing as a potential Specs user.

Dex 1: Despite its similarities to the fossilized Aerodactyl, its taxonomy is far closer to that of a Noivern. Their tails are capable of absorbing lingering energy within caves.
Dex 2: Only one cave in Hoenn has the right conditions to house this Pokémon. Knowing this, it is believed they migrated here from a distant region sometime after the first meteor showers struck.

New TMs: Supercell Slam
Flavor/Design: Has design progression similarities to that of Aerodactyl -> Mega Aerodactyl. Large stones instead are more outlets akin to what was already on Diodactyl’s tail.
Competitive Info: Bulky Thunder Cage user. Gets Roost/Moonlight for recovery, with Thunder Cage, Psychic Noise, and Taunt as Stallbreaking tools. Strong defensive type & good physbulk allows it to consistently wall the likes of Skarocious and Chroncony.

Dex 1: In the establishment of New Mauville, some Diodactyl were imported from Meteor Falls to aid in power generation. The excess electrical energy there transformed them into something more powerful.
Dex 2: Overcharged with electrical energy, these Pokémon are dangerously effectively at conducting electricity. Its screeches leave the air electrified.

I based this off the Horned Lizard, also known as the Horny Toad. While Orrean Poliwhirl is just a spikier, browner, and meaner looking Kantonian Poliwhirl, Poliorre is more visually distinct. Having a build similar to Poliwrath, the spikes on its body shape into sharp horns, making it resemble a devil. It also has sharp spurs on its feet and spiked knuckles on its fists (not unlike those from Knuckles the Echidna), with the spikes on its body shaping them into spurred boots and iron knuckles, giving the Pokemon a cowboy/outlaw aesthetic.

Competitive Info:
A bulky sand-setter that either pivots via Flip Turn to support its team, set up hazards to increase the passive damage from the sand, or uses the chip from the sand to provide a powerful offensive role via its strong STAB combo or good coverage. It's middling speed is what holds it back.

********************

For convenience, here is the rule for voting, copied directly from the header post for this mod:
"You may vote for up to 7 evolutionary families per slate, and your votes should include both the family of your choice and the username (preferably without tagging them directly) of their creator. You cannot self-vote more than two submissions, and if you do self-vote, vote for at least three more submissions that aren't yours. In addition, please tag your self-votes or your entire vote collection will be rejected."
Tentatively, this voting phase will last for 48 hours, meaning the winners - by which I mean the entries that have received the three highest vote counts per entry - will be decided on Thursday, September 5 shortly after 8 PM EST. Depending on forum activity, though, this period may be shortened or lengthened as needed.

As per the need cited by the mod council to pare down on the number of winners per slate and avoid mod dex bloat, if any of the top three vote counts include more than three subs, I will set up a second slate for tiebreaker purposes - only the top three entrants will go forward for each tiebreaker poll. Hence, going forward, there will be only a maximum of nine winning submissions per slate.

Best of luck to everyone!
