Resource Solomods Megathread

Greetings, everyone! I have come to announce a status update for my two Solomods and what's coming for them in the future....If you look closely, you might be able to gather some clues for them!
QZhDt98.png

First up, Pokémon North, South, East and West is now on it's fourth wave, with the first of the new types, Sound, implemented into the mod! At the moment, the metagame has 57 of the 465 fully evolved Pokémon of the Oriva Region. The fifth wave will introduce three more Pokémon to bring the total up to 60, and will arrive in the next few weeks: Some say the details are sketchy, but others claim that the story is about the same...
HzClTm2.png

Secondly, Bandai surprised us all by releasing a new Tamaverse Ticket based off the Tamagotchi Anime! So, with that being sent, when the ticket actually releases in March, Pokémon Go! Go! Tamagotchi! will be getting an update that will add the two new Tamagotchi, Octpasketchi and Tapepentchi, to the metagame, as well as three other mystery Tamagotchi! (So keep watch on them, and save the date, or, as Moriritchi would state, "What a banana!")
Both mods are playeable on Dragonhaven, and I would like to know what the future holds for them! Therefore, I am asking for playtesters to test out my two mods and provide suggestions for improvement. Good luck!

PS: Don't forget to join the Discord Servers if you haven't already!

Summary of the Mod: I was already making a text file containing all the changes I'd make to Pokémon if I had absolutely no restrictions (but like, was still making it something that other people were intended to experience) and I saw how many changes I made, so after learning about what a solomod is, I decided to make it into one. Please note that not everything is fully ready yet, so please check the Unfinished things section in the Clauses, Bans, And General Mechanic Changes page for stuff to ignore for now
Please enjoy ^_^

A world with Assault Vest and Rocky Helmet, but no Choice Scarf or Heavy-Duty Boots?
A game with Steam Engine and Seed Sower, but no Magic Guard or Sand Stream?
A meta with the Fairy Type, but no Team Preview?

It seems things may be turning...

Upside Down
:Iron Leaves:
Spreadsheet Here*
Playable with full Teambuilder Support Here

A mod combining Modern Mechanics, Modern Pokemon, and an Old School Power Level.

Upside Down is a completely custom mod which broadly aims to create a Metagame with modern game elements that has a gamefeel comparable to that of older generations. This is done while largely keeping individual game elements intact, almost completely avoiding changes to Pokemon base stats, typing, and move / ability effects and instead largely changing Pokemon movepools and changing ability access to create wholly new, old-styled gameplay designs from existing Pokemon.

:Gourgeist: :Centiskorch: :Cramorant: :Dracozolt: :Clodsire: :Rapidash-Galar: :Sandslash-Alola: :Bouffalant: :Lycanroc: :Thievul: :Sirfetch'd:
The list of available Pokemon totals to about 200, a hand-picked group which is comprised of many Pokemon from Gens 6-9, along with a fair few from Gen 5. The picks have been made with an emphasis on highlighting Pokemon that were overshadowed by power creep as soon as they were introduced, with the hope that a lower overall power level and a smaller roster of competitors will help them find a solid niche.

:Choice Scarf: :Heavy-Duty Boots: :Focus Sash: :Choice Specs: :Life Orb: :Eviolite:| :Light Clay: :Damp Rock: :Eject Button: :Weakness Policy: :Air Balloon: :Yache Berry:
A few powerful items from Gen 4 and beyond are removed. Some of these, such as Choice Specs, Life Orb, Heavy-Duty Boots, and Focus Sash limit the potential of immediate offense, while others like Light Clay, Eject Button, Weakness Policy, and Air Balloon are removed to blunt the potential of certain setup win conditions. In large part, this is meant to make the hidden information game a bit less extreme, and it doesn't hurt that it will help adapting to an environment without Team Preview a bit less taxing for new players. (There are also many removed items not listed here!)

:Glimmora: :Articuno-Galar: :Duraludon:
Pokemon are largely modified by losing moves, and almost every single Pokemon implemented in the mod loses several moves as a part of its' change list, including moves otherwise considered keystone pieces of their role. In many cases, these removals can often open up new dimensions to play both with and against the Pokemon in question.

Lots of move removals here apply to moves in relation to Pivoting, Hazards, Item Disruption, and Setup. Speed Boosting tools especially are more limited across the board, but in turn access to reliable Paralysis is limited as well.

:Mr. Rime: :Doublade: :Furfrou: (Chilly Reception | Bitter Blade | Tidy Up)
Meanwhile, many Pokemon gain access to new moves at the same time. There are far fewer of them, and I've tried to mostly stick with straightforward additions that make sense from Generations a Pokemon didn't exist in, but in a few cases I've made some silly stretches in the name of favoritism.

:Toxapex: :Klefki: :Espathra:
The removal of an ability can create something entirely new. Where previously bound to a specific playstyle by sheer opportunity cost, some Pokemon can now break the mold and take advantage of unique strengths they've always possessed.

:Eldegoss: :Meowstic: :Orbeetle:
...While some weaker picks that were previously outperformed in these niches can really step up to the plate!

:Great Tusk: :Blacephalon: :Celesteela: :Iron Bundle: :Naganadel:
A few traditionally Top-Tier Pokemon did remain on the roster, mostly because weak Pokemon of their Type + Stat Total combination simply did not exist. In return, they have had some of the most radical gameplay overhauls of them all, and are almost unrecognizable from their original roles. Give them a look to see what they can do!

As of posting, the mod is coded but is in need of testing and feedback. Definitely let me know what you think!

*It's a bit of a mess at the moment, but it is exhaustive. Scroll to the right to see the Most Important Moves, which is the most important column to condense information easily. Teambuilder may be a better way to scope out what Pokemon are capable of.

Hey guys,
I have finished editing the new changes to the "ADV to the past" Solomod and am requesting implementation.

NOTE: I am basically starting completely afresh with this mod and would like all changes implemented from the standpoint of ADV OU and not from the standpoint of how the mod was previously organised. This is effectively a complete do-over.
If at all possible, I am also requesting a name change of the mod to "ADV Reloaded"

Full details of the changes in the attached file.

Thank you!

Summary of the Mod: Turning cats from the Warriors book series by Erin Hunter into playable mons! I've been coding this myself but taking suggestions from other fans of the book series. It's still a pretty heavy WIP but I feel like I'm making decently speedy progress.
I know I have no other posts but someone in the Smogon Discord said I could submit it here to get it hosted, I just wanna be able to let other people play my mod together.

Summary of the Mod: Regular ol Gen 9 OU but with Little Cup mechanics, like the weird EV interactions and every mon being Level 5.
Why? I adore the concept of this mod because I feel it has so much potential because of how different to regular OU the meta would be, and i wanted smth that was easy to program into dh because i have no idea how to program so id need someone to do it for me and wasnt asking for someone to code in fakemons with spreadsheets the size of mars :3

Gen 1 versions of existing solomods are fun. (This is not a new mod post.)

Gen 1 Little Giants
Normal: Electrode Explosion vs. Snorlax: 212-250 (40.5 - 47.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
LG: Electrode Explosion vs. Snorlax: 21-25 (60 - 71.4%) -- guaranteed 2HK0

Yeahhh so explosion is busted barring the fact gengar and rhydon exists. But thats mediated with quake lax and drain psy exeggutor. Speed calcs are also fucked now. Starmie and Persian now speed tie with alakazam which isnt as huge but :3 Jynx and Zapdos also speed tie now which would be huge if it werent for rhydon existing to sponge all of these explosions im ripping.

Gen 1 Bad 'n Boosted
All PT barring fire spin is banned. Neat. Lead poliwrath is really difficult to handle without cheese and if you dont win the speed tie with either another sleeper or with electrode you just fucking lose. DemonLax or RefAmneLax are kinda good too being difficult to kill, and reflect is kinda busted? Gengar has way more bulk than it has any business having, and persian is almost mandatory now just so you can kill reflect shit.

Gen 1 Monocolour
Okay so this is determined by the palette the mon uses.

Gray is busted. It has starmie tauros rhydon. No other colour besides yellow has the tools to handle all 3 at an okay level. And even then thats only because surf raichu exists. I guess green also can handle it but its not enjoying it. Pink palette is the same as green. Can but doesnt want to.

Unless you want to go solo jynx Mew Palette is impossible so jynx just doesnt exist so :3

Gen 1 Custom game
So unplayable its not worth it to get into. Spam the shit out of Zac crowned with Spore and good moves. LOL

OK....It's time for a special announcement!
CnL6FVc.png

With the upcoming release of Tamagotchi Plaza, and the fact that all eleven Tamagotchi Anime girls might be in it....
Pokémon Go! Go! Tamagotchi will be getting a makeover in the future!
This was to be expected: At the moment, it just felt like all the Tamagotchi could beat the stuffing out of each other with no aim for roles or competitive movesets. But now....its going to be a bit different.
This mod still will have nearly every Adult Tamagotchi, but now....things are going to be a lot simpler.
The new intention with this mod is to introduce players to competitive Pokémon, and for that reason....
Everyone's movepools will be shrinking to only having 8-10 moves. (Not counting universal moves) This will not only make it easier to build a moveset, but it can also help people understand what goes into a competitive moveset.
Then, when players are ready, they can move on to other competitive metagames with the lessons they have learnt here. In addition, every Tamagotchi will be getting a Showdown Sprite when the patch comes out in the future.
So stay tuned...they didn't deserve to be obscure. (Don't forget to join the Discord too! https://discord.gg/tUSCAcUr6t)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Jgynzrfrs5boHlC2H2nRYmA649nHCExz1id15woJmYM/edit?usp=sharing
Summary of the Mod: This is a mod played in Nat Dex in which I spin a wheel for semi-randomly change things about Pokemon either a good or bad depending on if they are “broken” or not (Not the most creative thing in the world I admit). For example if I spend the wheel and it’s plus 50 BST I then assign 50 BST roughly equivalent to what them on was already doing(eg not making physical blissy etc etc).If a mon does to prove to be broken then of course send up to ubers and given some amount of time nerfing it so it may be brought down to ou level.(A list of things that can happen is linked in the Google sheet)

Competitive Overview : Despite the fact that I've only rolled so many Mons, some broken Mons have already can be seen. The most obvious being Ribombee and Seaking who both got a 200 plus BST turning them from mid to bad Pokemon to very broken looking Monsters. Other than that can't really say much else due to the small size of what I've rolled so far.

Quite a few things have been changed with Ponymon ever since the mod went live.

Since release I have gotten the teambuilder to display properly, fixed some issues and oversights regarding certain clauses and rules, and have fixed a bunch of unintentional interactions.

Most importantly there have also been some balance changes, with the latest update being the first dedicated balance update.

For starters, nearly two days after the mod went live, Vinyl Scratch had to be quick nerfed. She had the combination of Boomburst and Galvanize, which was immediately obvious as being broken. I don't know what I was cooking there. She had Boomburst removed from her moveset and instead had her signature move turned into a 100 BP sound based Normal type move. Basically a weaker Boomburst. Significantly more manageable.

In the dedicated balance update, two ponies had stat redistributions: Starlight Glimmer and Spitfire. Both had their stat spread readjusted to make them more manageable. Starlight in particular was made slower, as her Speed was too high for the dedicated wallbreaker role she plays. She also had her Special Attack reduced. She can still hit extremely high damage thresholds but she shouldn't be as insane anymore.

Two moves got nerfed, being Great and Powerful Exit and Ornithian Blade. GPE, originally was a 60 BP pivoting move that would double in power while under Midnight Terrain (Dark type themed terrain). Combined with the 1.3x boost, this move would hit extremely high damage thresholds, with Choice Banded variants of Trixie (Pony with the move) hitting Ting Lu for 30%. The move had its BP increased to 65 and had the doubling effect removed. Orinithian Blade is a Steel type move and is the signature move of Captain Celaeno, who has the Sharpness ability. The move originally had a BP of 90, which with the Sharpness boost made it hit a BP of 130. With Celaeno being a fast physical sweeper, this was a bit much, so the BP was reduced to 70.

Then there are some ability pool adjustments.

Spitfire had Rock Head replaced with Intimidate. Rock Head was just too much for a fast physical sweeper with Flare Blitz and Brave Bird.
Fluttershy had Serene Grace replaced with Anticipation. She is a relatively fast character that can induce paralysis with Glare. Even though this was not really abused due to Fluttershy typically being ran as a role compression/support teammate, it is definitely something I wanted to avoid having be an issue, so I just removed Serene Grace.

There were some other movepool adjustments, most notably Rainbow Dash having Nasty Plot removed and Spike having Extreme Speed removed.

The master documentation is up to date with all the changes and also includes a changelog at the very end.

I have been really enjoying how this mod has been developing. Teambuilding has also been pretty fun with what is available here. Here is a small team dump for anyone interested in getting into this mod!

As for what I am keeping an eye on now, some of the unbans may be problematic. Gouging Fire and Spectrier in particular are somewhat concerning. Then there are the weather sweepers in this metagame, who are all pretty strong. I will continue to monitor these threats and anything else comes up.

Feel free to join the Discord to give this mod a try and get involved with the development of the metagames!
The first batch of sprites for Ponymon Showdown are out now! Still waiting for the update to officially merge with the petmods server but thought I'd post about it here anyways.

A total of 16 sprites have been made with more on the way in the future. Metagame itself has also changed a bit, with several buffs/nerfs and rebannings of mons that were dropped from Ubers. A UU metagame is also in development!

The sprites are courtesy of my sprite artist Vineetx! You can check him out here: linktr.ee/vineetx

Name of Mod: Hax Meters

Summary of the Mod
:
There are 4 meters. These meters will be displayed in the Battle Options section.
Initially, x = 30.

<your username>
Miss: X
Secondary Effect: X
Critical Hit: X
Status: X
<your opponent’s username>
Miss: X
Secondary Effect: X
Critical Hit: X
Status: X

The meters displayed will be updated at the end of every turn.

Moves used will increase the meters by their respective hax chance. Focus Blast, unaffected by other mechanics, will increase the miss meter by 30, the secondary effect meter by 10 if it hits, and the crit meter by 4.17 if it hits. When a meter reaches 100 the effect is guaranteed and 100 is subtracted from the meter. If no meter reaches 100 the move will hit and have no other effect.

A meter can increase multiple times in one turn, such as if the Pokemon uses a multi-hit move or has multiple statuses.

If 2 effects for a meter are dependent on each other, they will be calculated multiplicatively rather than additively. For example, if a Pokemon is under Attract and Confusion, the Status meter will not increase by 50 + 50 (= 100). If it did, it would guarantee the Pokemon not being able to move due to the increase by 100. Instead, it will increase by 50 (for Confusion), and if the meter does not reach 100, then 0.5 * 50 (no Confusion + Attract), or 25. This is a total of 75, which matches the 75% chance of not being able to move.

There will be an option to show all the calculations in the chat.

Competitive Overview:
Instead of accounting for hax every move, you build it up and unleash it at opportune moments, and your opponent is trying to thwart that. For example, if your opponent has a Ttar out and their miss meter is 80 or above, you do not have to worry about Stone Edge until they miss another move. You can also miss on purpose to reset your meter if giving up that turn isn’t a big deal.
You can build up your secondary effect meter to 90 and use a move with a great 10% effect, like Ancientpower.

Unbans include mechanics that increase evasion like Double Team and Sand Veil. OHKO moves are still banned.
Bans may include Jirachi or Serene Grace.

Summary of the Mod: In short it's just Gen 3 BSS. So it's a "Bring 6, Pick 3" format + Team Preview, has no clauses (so things like Ninjask Baton Pass is legal) and Item Clause (so no Leftovers Spam)
Why?: Gen 3 BSS Sounded really fun and when I asked the BSS room if there was interest, we ran a few tours and there was a ton of support so ty to everyone in there. The meta is also wildly different from regular OU because of the much faster pace of BSS so many mon that aren't typically considered really good in OU are super good here. (Example: Breloom)

Name of Mod: Signaturemons

Mascot: Marshadow

Link to Changes: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iMRcYL7oyccfctycBt6EtPgP_htz2R0LXHEXIHu5zCU/edit?usp=sharing

Summary of the Mod: This National Dex mod introduces brand-new signature moves for fully-evolved Pokémon that don’t have any, or lost them, in the Gen 9 games.

My aim when designing these moves was to make every Pokémon stand out by using their attributes in a unique way, encapsulated in a move that fits their style. The inspiration could come from a Pokémon’s stats, their dex entries, their visual design, their vibes, etc.

The definition of a signature move is pretty inconsistent if we go by official material, so I went with this :
“A move is considered a signature move if it can be learned by only one evolutionary line, or by a group of Pokémon closely related by lore or by species design.”

Lastly, some existing signature moves did get some changes but it’s mostly rebalancing old moves to align with modern standards. I kept these kind of adjustments to a minimum.

Some examples of new signature moves:
Sudowoodo’s Fake Branch is a powerful move that also uses the Pokémon’s peculiar hydrophobia. With it, Sudowoodo will dodge any Water-type move coming its way for one turn, then retaliate at the end of the turn. Though keep in mind that as a lower priority move, it leaves Sudowoodo vulnerable to other weaknesses such as Grass or Ground.
Dugtrio’s Triple Dig is simply an adaptation of Wugtrio’s Triple Dive. Being a Ground-type multi-hit attack, Triple Dig stands as an alternative to Earthquake in Doubles, and can be used to break Focus Sash on occasions. Beware of the 5% chance of miss!
Roserade’s Secret Thorns is an alternative to Toxic that fits a debuffer playstyle. When used on a target with high remaining HP, Secret Thorns inflicts Poison and lower’s the target’s Atk, whereas if the target’s HP is lower than 50%, Roserade instead inflicts Bad Poison and prevents the target from healing for 2 turns, putting the target into a dreadful corner.

State of the Mod:
  • Work in progress, I'm in the coding phase.
  • The design phase is complete! I have already written all the moves for every Pokémon, so please understand that I am not taking suggestions for new moves. Feedback is otherwise welcome.
  • The mod is balanced around the Doubles format, but it’s also playable in Singles. Some new moves will be less useful though.
  • I already coded the moves on the list above into a local server and would like to put this version on DH for further testing and improvements (I don’t know how to submit it plz help).

Thanks for reading, I'm having fun with this so far!

Hello!

Haven't posted in awhile (both in this thread and Smogon in general, actually) but I'm here with one quick thread approval!

This solomod has recently exploded in popularity and for weeks now it seems like its hype is far from dying down, so now seems like a perfect time to give some more spotlight!

The following solomods can now post their own thread in the Solomods subforum:
KnivesTotality's Monster Hunter Showdown

That's all for now, see you soon!

Dense AF

Premise: Reducing bloat by stuffing everything into a trenchcoat.
The spiritual successor to Bare Bones (which is playable, for now...), this further reduces the amount of elements that exist, while also trying to improve the team building experience (it is still terrible, but slightly less so). There are also several notable mechanic differences.

General Mechanics and Notes:
- Species Clause!
- Typing determined by HP and Spe IVs (sorry I am not good at stealing code)
- Stats are determined differently (IVs no longer affect stats)

Features:
- 6 mons
- only 1 Intimidate user
- triple-type boosting items
- 6.25 PP Recover
- incalculable damage (head calc or guess)
- gambling

Playable yet? No, come back later
4 months later...

Mechanics:
- Species Clause
- Type determine by HP and Speed IVs (yeah I gave up)
- Stats determined normally (yeah this would have been a headache for everyone)
- *NEW* Trapping (Ghosts included!)

Features:
- 8 mons (that is 6+2!)
- triple-type boosting items
- 6.25 PP Recover
- gambling
- *NEW* (match-up) fishing
- *NEW* sprites (didn't make the icons though, got lazy)

Playable? Somewhat

Replays (because I'll definitely lose them if I just post them in discord, also buggy AF):
