NOC Town of Salem 2 Mafia: Revival - WON BY THE MAFIA AND THE WITCH

We know Roxie couldn't have been self-targeting Doc, BG, or Crusader because those would've resulted in Roxie not dying. I think that leaves the options for Roxie as:

Lookout
Trapper
Ambusher - if one of the visitors had defense
Recon
Disguiser
Forger (but self targeting n1 would be really weird)
If roxie self-targeted doctor for some reason (I doubt it) the protected one wouldn't be HH?

You guys are absolutely correct, Roxie could've been Doc, BG, or Crusader* because it would've protected HyHy

*Ambusher or Crusader would have to mean that Alice has defense then

Or I guess Dbd but this is basically all predicated on Dbd being a real lookout
You mean that either DBD or me have defense stat? I got lost. I think DBD is either lookout or recon not sure about which one yet but neither of those have defense stat.

Only in the event that Roxie is Crusader, meaning they would've attacked someone else who visited their target - which would be you and Dbd, and you both lived

But that scenario is unlikely, it's more likely that Roxie was just one of the other potions

Btw what would be the point of transporting first night? Are you just trying to get lucky and swap a targeted town with a mafia?
In general if you have an unlimited role you always use it, it looks sus if you get caught out on future nights and say you didn't use your role, because then your actions are harder to verify. In the case of a transporter claim, a Hypnotist could claim to be transporter use a combination of pretending to idle, transport people who died, and plant the transport message a few times. But their fakeclaim becomes a lot more restricted if they can't pretend to idle

ok I'm home I don't really wanna solve the game but maybe I will zzz

mostly wanted to say this isn't a particularly newbie-friendly game (semi-open setup is nice for newer players but the mech is fully complicated) and it's awesome to see all the newbies to Circus taking to the game so well :sphearical:

From what I understood trapper can't target himself right? But if she went to someone else who got transported with her would she get the trap on herself?
You're right - I didn't read the part in the role list that said it has to be another player. So trapper is off the table

Anyways, I don't think the Roxie kill is going to give us any good vote leads so we need to figure something else out

I'm at work but gonna read back when I get a chance and see if I have thoughts on anyone, but deadline is in 9.5 hours so I encourage anyone (especially those who will be going to sleep soon) to give some thoughts and maybe drop a vote

I mean, I feel like conversation has roughly been operating under the assumption that roxie is scum. if they were, then it's valid to skip vote bc we've bought a day and can get extra mech intel. but if they were town, which if the kill was redirected is just as possible right, then we should vote

If we are thinking HyHy and Roxie were transported, then all of the following must be true:

Mafia chose to kill/clean HyHy
Dbd targeted Roxie, but actually watched HyHy
Alice targeted Roxie, but actually visited HyHy and was seen by Dbd
Roxie targeted themself, but actually visited HyHy (how?) and was seen by Dbd
Alice and Roxie cannot be the killer or janitor
i think what joey said here seems true, which means roxie was likely town

I'm trying to work out what abilities can / would self-target and the only thing I'm coming up with is Disguiser (mafia role). What's the rules on self-targeting? You can do it unless it says you can't on the role card, or you can't do it unless it says you can?

Technically Disguiser doesn't say you can self-target but it says you can target a Mafia Member, and the Disguiser is a Mafia Member, so my interpretation would be it's fine to self-target

this is my (revised) list on the roles that roxie could be, presuming everything can self-target

Doctor
Bodyguard
Crusader (unlikely, would require them to hit someone who has defense)
Lookout
Trapper
Recon
Disguiser
Forger (but self targeting n1 would be really weird)

protection being able to self-target is somewhat unheard of in mafia (I actually don't mind it but it's v unpopular). Since ToS is basically a mafia fangame I'd be surprised if it's able to.

This is a semi-open setup like the roles are in the OP so we can literally just... Ehmcee hey friend which of these roles are able to target themselves :sphearical:

Doctor is explicitly stated to be able to self-target once in the role list. BG is that way in real town of salem but this role list doesn't say it for BG, so not sure if that's changed

doc being able to self-target exactly once is legit entertaining we should adopt that in mafia lol
