This was my first build during pult ban and it really shows the kinds of limitations that were freed when pult left the tier. The idea is to use specs lele to break early with multiple pivots to bring it in on defensive teams while having serp / lop clean against certain balance and offense builds.
https://pokepast.es/d827beedc7182770
Mmaw is one of my personal favorite mons to pilot in pretty much any gen so I wanted to use it again because my last Mmaw team had pult. I ultimately decided to take one of my old Tera meta sample teams with maw and remake it with Pecharunt as it was gaining in usage and fit the team nicely as it’s an excellent partner with Mmaw. Pivot / synthesis ogerpon is also an option if you so wish; I just liked the more consistent win condition vs. gliscor builds.
https://pokepast.es/21f5c8793a5721c0
I wanted to bust out some really stupid cheese when laddering and I built this when I was trying out Mmaw. It farms all the bad balances u see on ladder because thundt is a threat that isn’t usually prepped for, and its main check in ting lu gives opportunity for Mmaw to come in.
https://pokepast.es/7af1add68bc85888
I saw this really cool victini hstack team in ssou and wanted to take a spin on it with spikes Gliscor. Koko victini is a great offensive core and it’s backed up by a solid defensive backbone that covers most of the metagame and relies on hazards to chip threats to balance like ogerpon and Kingambit. This is easier to do when victini threatens out other annoying steels like ferro and Gholdengo so spikes chip beats them easier long term.
https://pokepast.es/3c96019ccfc17668
One of my good friends Iride gave me the idea for a fat cteam (this is not a true fullproof fat cteam like the paste says that’s just where I got the idea from) and I got the idea to build some sweaty lele ogerpon Gliscor build. The main win condition is not clear since there’s no setup but it’s basically to use spikes Gliscor and knock ogerpon in combination with fsight lele to break open teams, and the core of offensive tusk + fsight is hard to contend with.
https://pokepast.es/609c8b13fb7c19e3
I built this with Lameflame as I had little to no fat in my builder and I wanted some more variety in options for some smaller tours I was in. The idea is a clef celes pex core that uses spikes Gliscor to force progress against opposing balance. Cm z bolt was something I didn’t think of when making the team but it’s actually nice at forcing out / outright koing Gliscor and other stuff as a threatening win condition. I used this in Istt vs. ryuji and won.
https://pokepast.es/f3ae77072f8b1149
Standard oras inspired ogerpon build that uses tornt + lop + clef to help vs. various offensive threats.
https://pokepast.es/c6b5b8507ba47d88
This is a team centered around Primarina and using spikes chip + z bolt to overwhelm checks such as pex and ferro and uses constant pivoting from lop / Primarina to force more constant switches to rack up spikes chip.
https://pokepast.es/4f74542df90c80f7
I ripped this entire six from an oras squad I saw lol but even so heracross is an interesting pokemon as it’s able to break open certain balance teams with support from Mola and spikes along with other balance breakers like z chomp. It also helps trade vs. certain threats like Kingambit certain Garchomp sets and unboosted waterpon. Band Weav is used here to trap threats like Gholdengo, yard, and ogerpon if it does end up getting the boost.
https://pokepast.es/0004cbf06667b83d
This was a period where I tried getting more creative with how I was building. I wanted to use z celebrate victini at first but then that gave me the idea to try out other z crystals on tini and I realized that v create had the strongest z move in the game which I was appealed by. With power up punch to act as a setup win condition against bo teams this thing can actually cause some damage to stuff like Lando tusk and Gliscor. The idea is to overwhelm physical attacker checks with victini so Mmedi and scarf kart can clean later.
https://pokepast.es/37ccfe9ebadf2bfd
I saw people like adriyun and I think suzukaaa in seasonal use Bascu female and I was inspired. The Mon is actually not thatttt bad as it can easily dismantle balance cores with ghost z + sub and a water typing which helps vs. grounds / fires unlike Ghold. Tect sd Gliscor is used because initially the team was too weak to knock off however I do think roost is better on sd sets.
https://pokepast.es/91a228efff6b50c9
This is another oras inspired team that tries to use the offensive core of victini and mdia and have a good defensive backbone alongside it. Mola with stuff like victini and Diancie is good because it shifts momentum against offense in your favor and pivots them in against threats like ferro and tornt. Elec z cm clef is primarily for Toxapex and to act as a win condition.
https://pokepast.es/fd6ab547ff4de590
I think I remember this team being ass but I don’t remember what the primary issue was. The idea was pads shifu + dia + bolt being a good offensive core for more balanced / bo stuff and I wanted to try sd shifu in post pult land.
https://pokepast.es/9718cd595a591295
Another build that was inspired by Iride and the idea is bulky gallade can easily take on hex Ghold balance builds in Fini terrain due to having knock off and the neccessary bulk to take on hexes somewhat comfortably (not ghost z tho but you can bait that in). It also has sd and more bulk than Mmedi which is what makes it appealing as a trader and balance breaker. And to capitalize on gallade trading with birds and z-less (or burnt z) Gholdengo we got the evil serp Subseed set.
https://pokepast.es/0062c42c65ee280d
A balance based on sm teams, not much to note here but it’s an ok team.
https://pokepast.es/ce910e83498da580
This is one of my favorite teams I’ve built recently as it’s a bo team with a defined defensive core in double regen + spdef lando but also has the ability to dish out strong hits with lele / z Kommo o / Melmetal. The status on melm can be changed to toxic but I liked twave to be better against offense squads and paraflinch is never not annoying.
https://pokepast.es/97881496d5684dac
A bit of an awkward build but xard + ogerpon + taunt lando + lele breaks any defensive core out there. The plan is to just be aggressive and not let too many hazards stack up since you have limited removal in scarf kart, but it should be manageable with ur offensive tools.
https://pokepast.es/72b8304940ad2540
I haven’t used pagos / Scizor much up until this point so I wanted to use both and np tornt felt like a natural pick to farm balance builds that annoyed Scizor so it felt like a natural pick. The rest of the team is relatively standard. This was the first team I was prepping to use vs. oculars in mspl as it’s just anti cheese and he had no rocks which would’ve meant np tornt did amazing but I never used it when it prob would’ve farmed. Thanks Sami.
https://pokepast.es/70f8daec98714107
This is the team I actually ended up using. The squad itself is based on sm offenses because Sami suggested to use Fini and I didn’t know a direction to take with the mon without going with an exploitable balance build. The team itself went through a ton of variations and was tested a lot and actually did decent in such tests despite me being an idiot however I loaded into a horrible matchup in the game as the one thing the team auto loses to is Venusaur.
https://pokepast.es/8a7e9102f32a507a
This team is just a standard Diancie balance that funny enough omar also apparently built on his own as well, but the main difference that I saw in our versions is that his is spikes Gliscor while mine is sd, and both work well.
https://pokepast.es/6890f8de233952c0
Blacephalon was one of my fav mons to pilot in Tera meta and with pult gone I wanted to experiment with some ghost types so I wanted to give it another shot. I decided on a firespam core that is similar to the z victini team except in reverse in that it uses 2 main big special breakers so a special attacking scarfer can clean the game against offensive stuff.
https://pokepast.es/a10b0ab85ee5d8a2
This is a hsam clef ferro balance that uses 2 main offensive breakers in hsam / latios and then puts on pressure against other teams long term with spikes. Teams like this are some of my favorite to build as I’m a fan of spikes balance with scarf Lando.
https://pokepast.es/bc0d4ae9b50797d7
Funny turtle trick room. The EVs are optimized for extremely specific scenarios and are not good but if you want to cheese some parts of the ladder then this team is ok. Specs turtle actually hits pretty hard allowing it to trade with some important threats. If anything comes from this build it’s that I think hsam actually has a decent amount of potential on trick room.
https://pokepast.es/88124117de49259d
Standard offense that uses shuca Ghold to trade with annoying ground types like Garchomp and great tusk while also nuking other random stuff that may try to click eq vs. Ghold. Synth Oger is used for a bit better tusk matchup along with shuca Ghold.
https://pokepast.es/1fe43faa4bd14bb1
Another attempt at shuca Ghold but this time with a semi psyspam core with Hawlucha.
https://pokepast.es/122432da2d31455e
I wanted to try Nidoking and this build attempts to fix some of its issues. First we got a ferro / tran / Zapdos core which helps Nidoking out with common rkillers like zama lop shifu waterpon and lele. Then the offensive core in shifu / lele supports nido in different ways; for example, shifu pivots in nido on pex, Clefable, and Gholdengo against offense which makes nido get some mileage against the structure. Lele baits in steel types like Gholdengo and Ferrothorn so Nidoking can double in and wreck havoc.
https://pokepast.es/c344fe1ba4bba065
An oras inspired build that uses the combo of Diancie + fsight to completely overwhelm balance cores with pex and Gliscor. This is furthered by the fact most steels and darks or even spdef walls usually don’t want anything to do with Diancie.
https://pokepast.es/a05e2073d8f094fe
I was testing Lorb clef as it’s a very solid balance breaker in general and I thought that using it on fat would be good since offensive clef has minimal defensive utility, so stuff like Skarm / pex / lu can shore it up on that end. Skarm is a nice fit since it ends up setting spikes and reliably checking a ton of the physical attackers clef is normally tasked with checking. This team is particularly nice because you can play relatively aggressively with it despite being a fat team.
https://pokepast.es/6928fb904fe5e5e4
I was helping arty prep for istt and we wanted to try iron defense Zamazenta with ttar support but I ended up diverging and made a whole different sand build and kept it because I had 0 good ttar teams / sand in my builder. The squad is a relatively simple with the squad having a defensive core in ferro Gliscor Slowbro that shores up ttar’s defensive shortcomings, with ace acting as hazard control and zama giving offensive pressure, speed control, and a check to threats like ogerpon and Kingambit.
https://pokepast.es/b5702fc2e04cce7d
This team is very visually appealing and it looked ok when I tested it. It’s a pretty standard victini balance like the ones before but this time it has tricky Barb clef to annoy defensive staples like Gliscor, Toxapex, and gking.
https://pokepast.es/d90c570c895a8d05
Offensive cinderace is actually a really potent wallbreaker as most water resists are not prepped for its coverage options + uturn. It’s supported by spikes Gliscor to help it force progress easier and ice beam mtios which helps lure in ground types like Gliscor some Lando variants and Garchomp and in general is just a solid tech to use.
https://pokepast.es/35a45f038dd52fd2
Classic psyspam with band weavile to trap certain offensive threats that could pose issues to the team. Tapu lele and mtios help overwhelm psychic type resists pretty consistently. For example, mtios can click mfire vs. gholdengo and Ferrothorn while Tapu lele lures in heatran and weakens gking for mtios.
https://pokepast.es/ec2c6410bfee6be0
This team is kinda slow but between twave Ghold, dnite, and multiple mid speed breakers (including ace which is faster than Val and pon) I thought it was fine. Sub dnite is good to beat balance builds easier and synth ogerpon makes the mu vs. ground types much better.
https://pokepast.es/a118db5a80e18656
I wanted to use kartana so I stole some ssou build and tweaked it. Scarf shifu helps kart vs. offense and defensive pokemon like tran, Zapdos, and clef all shore up its weaknesses vs. revenge killers, while in return kart acts as a balance breaker that’s also immune to toxic and has z moves to overwhelm physical walls for chomp and shifu which is valuable on this team.
https://pokepast.es/33f2dc36d5d3a394
This is another take on a celes fat as I think the Mon gets more and more merit by the day. It’s a similar idea to the last team although we now have tspike pex and dnite to help vs. ho teams and be safer into threats like ogerpon. Koko was chosen as a solid check to np tornt / Zapdos while also being speed control and outright threatening bulky waters. This was one of the teams I prepped for my second game of mspl.
https://pokepast.es/940ab374e885bba9
This is another one of my favorite squads that I actually used in mspl. This team is able to play pretty smoothly if you can gain momentum through your pivots and bring in your breakers easily. Booster dd moon was also becoming rlly good to me at the moment so it was a good chance to try it out. Unfortunately in the actual game I played like fucking shit when the team itself was pretty solid.
https://pokepast.es/791e117cb6b5489b
After that loss I was kinda demotivated so I just started building random garbage I saw in other tours. However this was one of the better builds being a hazard stacking balance team with sd Gliscor and kyurem which makes the balance mu pretty good along with clef.
https://pokepast.es/c66dd830b7bd78cb
This is an example of that random garbage I mentioned although it’s actually not that bad. Dtail bulky dnite is actually pretty solid vs a good amount of the metagame and against ho in particular. The rest of the team is just standard balance stuff. The lines vs. physical attackers like Lopunny / zama is a little hard but it’s basically try to use dtail espeed dnite + Volc + your own Zama and pray vs. opposing Zama.
https://pokepast.es/169a8ee6a0817385
I wanted to try Diancie sand. Kart + Diancie is already a good offensive core and I wanted to support it with a defensive core on sand. Hippo is here for sand obviously but it also checks stuff like Diancie and Koko. Kart is the win condition here because it is able to act as a win condition against gliscor balance if piloted correctly.
https://pokepast.es/004eac5017842daa
This was an attribute team (I think?) that I ripped from svou and it does pretty well here still. The highlight is tornt helping you gain momentum for your breakers and against most playstyles in general.
https://pokepast.es/2c36238e514c4359
I realized I had 100% ferro tran usage for my steel types so I wanted to use some different steels this time around in iron treads and scarf Gholdengo which both fit this balance build nicely. There’s also another elec z clef to break pex balance just like before.
https://pokepast.es/896b978f10093294
Offensive tornt is a pretty cool set especially as a fogger on these kinds of balance builds.
https://pokepast.es/9a688e324cbba1fa
This team is very cheesy but it’s basically an ho with double ghosts which insures hazards vs. offense and some bo teams if you play well.
https://pokepast.es/4d9a77e0966a06de
I wanted to try band hoopa because the dopamine when you load it into a good mu is unreal and it seemed fun to pilot with lop support. Clefable and scarf Lando round out the team as a physical attacker check to threats like lop and zama and moon while scarf Lando gives another way of outpacing offensive threats.
https://pokepast.es/5402e1df6b1b2802
Offensive Rotom wash is an old gen tech but it can still surprise some bulky offense teams in the current meta, and besides that it’s a pretty standard dnite balance.
https://pokepast.es/02ccaede2b26bada
MONO MOON.
https://pokepast.es/aa31079a6c907ba8
Pretty much the same as the hoopa team but with Slowbro > hoopa which is probably more consistent.
https://pokepast.es/f6419a657236ec60
I wanted to take the spikes + clef balances I liked so much and use dnite on them which helps out with a variety of offensive threats in the tier that can overwhelm such balance teams and helps vs. ho.
https://pokepast.es/c99bbf006c0d84fb
Standard koko balance that adds removal in great tusk to not be worn down by hazards like spikes + knock off and Kingambit which is something a lot of my balances that try to ignore hazards and stack their own to pressure offensive threats are potentially weak to.
https://pokepast.es/cb5204e9624b4d31
Standard balance with a shifu + mtios offensive core and a standard defensive core of clef Ghold chomp tornt.
https://pokepast.es/4b95cc3cb2751e2f
A hazard stacking balance that’s pretty similar to my other hazard stacks but has multiple speed control options to outpace various offensive threats to balance.
https://pokepast.es/fad628d9cfde6897
This balance is somewhat passive but it gives you all the tools you need to win games with the hstack + knock clef / torn core and a breaker and win condition in ogerpon to beat Gliscor pex builds easier.
https://pokepast.es/629bce31475957bc
I wanted to try iron crown because it’s an interesting offensive pivot in terrain and has good tools such as volt switch, strong steel stab without drawback, and psychic noise. The team is somewhat weak to special attackers, but you could solve this by making Moltres spdef or even making Koko calm mind.
https://pokepast.es/bb744b455caaef76
I wanted to use a mmedi + Mola + pagos core since pagos helps vs. gholdengo and spins spikes and Mola gains infinite momentum on a ton of defensive staples for mmedi.
https://pokepast.es/dd7ff075166accaa
I wanted to use buzzwole but I didn’t know how to really build it so I just took inspiration from some sm teams and buzzwole worked like a charm on the squad.
https://pokepast.es/5182b945de4bd7aa
Funny thing about this build was that it is a team that I actually voluntarily slotted Mmaw instead of building around it which was interesting. When I started using the team though I wanted a bulkier dnite that could also handle Gholdengo so I decided to use this LBN dnite set he posted a while back and decided to use heal bell on it as well to heal Mmaw from status effects.
https://pokepast.es/86a81f343130246f
I was inspired by some nd aaa builds and I decided to use some moon ferro Glisc pex balance with scarf lele as a great speed control option that also puts on offensive pressure on pex while giving fsight support. The Corv item / spread is variable on this team but I chose rhelm to not be too passive vs. certain uturn mons like taunt lando.
https://pokepast.es/86de2b07f764950e
I wanted to use Venusaur + Terapagos and I built a team that would greatly appreciate their support, as the main breaker in lele likes spikes being removed by pagos and revenge killers like shifu hslam zama and waterpon being checked by Venusaur (and Slowbro too!).
https://pokepast.es/3ee3237bb6494015
This team tries to maintain momentum vs. offense with scarf lele + Mola, with hstack + dnite and Mola’s longevity being the main way of winning vs. bulkier teams.
https://pokepast.es/76dd6d57d90d65e0
I got cooked in ou stour by chansey and lulu who used a cool Garg Ghold tornt pon bo vs. me so I wanted to take a spin on such structures. Garg is here because it checks flying types and tox tran while also setting rocks and being extremely annoying to offense and some ferro bos with salt cure.
https://pokepast.es/c68864dac45b1f13
Another sv ou inspired hstack squad with sd Gliscor + hisui Samurott to force progress. Gholdengo can probably be mir but I chose twave focus blast for the Terapagos matchup.
https://pokepast.es/8df7f335876a3f7f
I wanted to try offensive ace again and I like av gking atm so I wanted to use ace with gking’s fsight support, with scarf Ghold to also act as speed control and explains the av gking as it helps check fairy types much easier.
https://pokepast.es/dce0e4d43177426e
Standard bo team that uses gking and ogerpon to gain continuous momentum vs. balance while gking also supports pon in breaking down checks like Pecharunt, bolt, pex, and Venusaur with fsight.
https://pokepast.es/b4f7a9c12d6d0791
I wanted to build some ho that wasn’t just bad so I built this which is good in overwhelming a ton of defensive cores atm. The lack of speed control is noticeable, but that’s generally solved by the multitude of speed boosting sweepers and dnite. Even then you could try speed booster moon if you wanted however I think attack booster is generally almost always better.
This period was kinda where I wasn’t really prepping for actually real nd tours and even in the tours I was in I did not really do well at all, however I did learn a lot about building in this time in general and I learnt a lot about what my favorite styles to build a pilot are as well as ways to try and build creatively around certain problems with certain Pokemon. Cya’ll later
