loving the mental image of some game freak guys sat in the office refreshing smogoff going "no!!! fuck!!! they're onto our mega design scheme!!!"
this implies that gamefreak actually cares about singles in any capacity whatsoever which cannot be the case because they unironically made palafin and gholdengo and kingambit and iron valiant and ogerpon
they definitely have a man on the inside, there's no way they could unbalance singles this profoundly unless they were actively trying

These Smogoff threads gives me the impression that Mega Evolutions are still hype and people are excited about them. It really does feel like in 2013 when individual Megas were shown and blew our minds.
I am. Brings back memories of going to the high school bathroom to see the announcements for the Charizard and Mewtwo megas. Which are clearly Z and A megas, btw
i remember the entire internet was blowing up when mega mewtwo y's design was first revealed because they hadn't actually introduced the concept of mega evolution so everyone was like "holy shit mewthree is canon"

after staring at mega chesnaught for way too long, i have figured out that it's an R. if you arrange the starters by dex order, they spell out "RET". retting is the process of soaking fibrous plants when processing them. one of these plants is hemp. therefore, this is clearly a hint to the fact that legends za will have weed lmao
