SPOILERS! Legends ZA Data Dumps - Adding Info to OP

Combined with the removal of Slowbro-Galar Mega and no remedy in the Mega Dimensions DLC and it is clear that quality is no longer of a concern to GF.
How could it be "removed" if it was never an official thing in the first place? Plus, we've known this since Mega Slowbro debuted in Pokémon GO that only the Kantonian Slowbro can Mega Evolve, not the Galarian form.

The explicit mention of Shed Skin seems quite clear. And it would combo nicely with Intimidate pre-mega.
i'm kinda hoping scrafty gets multiscale myself. shed skin is a good ability and all, but it needs something a little more than that to be actually good as a defensive mega what with the 55 base hp or whatever.

Honestly, I kinda see Absol getting a second Mega.

It was unusually prevalent in the marketing material for this game, with it even being the first (iirc) Mega boss we see, and was the example at various demo events. Plus, it’s not like GF hasn’t given two forms to non-normie Pokemon before; look at Donphan and Volcarona. Both got two Paradox forms.

It’d actually be pretty funny if Mega Absol X/Y is the first boss for the DLC like the original Mega is for the base game lol
mega absol was also one of the most marketed megas from x and y, too: it was one of the original mega reveals along with things like lucario, mewtwo, and i think blaziken(?), among others, and calem/serena used one in the postgame rematch. also, i would say that it's more than popular enough to count as a fairly "normie" pokemon, even if it's obvs not as mainstream as stuff like pikachu and charizard. don't believe me? just check furaffinity :)

I'm probably alone here but I'm much more annoyed by the lack of a Slowking Mega than lack of Flygon. I get everyone loves it but it felt like the guy got done dirty more because of what happened with Gardevoir and Gallade and is now happening with Glalie and Froslass. Hell you could even do something silly to make it fair with the variants. Make a Galarian Slowking Mega so only one half of each of the Slowtwins can Mega evolve.

...Ok now I'm sad Galarian Slowking didn't get a Mega.

Honestly, I kinda see Absol getting a second Mega.

I'd understand Absol getting two megas back in XY (risky move but still fair); getting one ten years later sounds completely out of nowhere to me.

Are we sure that we don't have any regional variants / convergent Pokemon / new evo ?
Only new mega ...?

Not in the region and "remake" whose entire gimmick revolves around megas. Even if I'd love to see a regional Garchomp instead of a second Mega.

If it gets Contrary or some other busted ability, Malamar might not be the worst Mega.
If it doesn’t getting anything good it honestly will be the worst Mega. Worse than even Audino.

It's 100% getting a busted ability, those aren't the stats of a normal Mega. Even Audino has a less craptacular spread.

I can't believe that Pyroar and Starmie are actually real. That's actually ragebait, I can't explain it any other way

Also Flygon still getting shafted, keep it up GameFreak, do the opposite of what your fans want...

gamefreak saw this card and was like well damn we have to make another one to get a mirror version of the card

Dragalge literally has a cancer beam wow.

This is what I was alluding to in my post earlier.

(does M-Dragalge's dex entry hint at what I think it does or am I reading into it too much?)

I'm surprised they put a c***** reference in that overtly, tbh.
I can believe it. Absol has always been fairly popular and has gotten a fair bit of spotlight (one of the first Pokemon to have a Mega revealed, had a major story role in PMD1) and Garchomp's status as Cynthia's ace makes it probably the second most popular pseudo legendary after Dragonite (and tbh it probably would be the most popular pseudo legendary if Dragonite didn't have the original 151 nostalgia boost bias - that's how iconic Cynthia is). They make perfect sense to get second Megas IMO.

Anyways though I'm a little miffed that Falinks will seemingly be the only Gen 8 Mega (like just imagine a Mega Toxtricity or Mega Corviknight...) I am super hyped for Mega Staraptor, Mega Golisopod, and Mega Baxcalibur!
No way is Nite more popular than Chomp, nostalgia or not. Dragonite has never really been a particular popular mon within the franchise. People were straight up lamenting Chomp falling out of OU for the first time. There aren't that many mons I'd say are straight up more popular than Chomp. I don't think Nite is more popular than Ttar, either.

As Dragonite's number 1 fan, yeah no people do not love DNite like they do Garchomp. In fact, I think people like Salamence more. I would argue that of the first five pseudos, Dragonite is the least liked. Garchomp or Ttar being the most liked.

Sometimes these conversations about popularity come up and I don't think anyone has any grasp of how popular or unpopular a given Pokemon actually is.

e: This topic gets exceptionally funny when you start seeing posts complaining about Pokemon no one likes getting stuff like megas followed by people complaining about popular pokemon getting stuff like megas and also alongside posts where the undercurrent is "why didnt the pokemon I like get something"

I think the only thing everyone can agree with is that Simisear fucking sucks ass.

pyroar's mega design seems to appeal to nobody but starmie is pure goofy charm, game freak at their finest

maybe pyroar fans exist, I have never seen one (other than lysandre)

I like the shouting lion.

Simisear should have gotten a mega.

The discourse? Unimaginable

The 3 Unova fake starters would had been memorable if there was more emphasis on triples. And rotation I guess, always felt rotation battles screwed triples over.

But yeah, those 3 need a bone, or something to do.

I've seen the waking animations now. it looks goofy and kinda creepy. But megas are a special occasion and a mega that's just goofy seems kinda like a waste and (for the lack of a better word) somewhat disrespectful to fans that waited years for new megas. I've seen many cool mega fan designs for Starmie and I think it's unfortunate that the actual mega came out silly

I think if it was longer legs + new colors and some new design, I would like it a lot. The concept GF goes for is fulfilled and so is fan anticipation

Honestly give the simis evolutions and make them better and I'm sure they can be salvaged

They are already at almost 500 base stat total. A mega would have them in pseudo ballpark. Their entire shtick is being insanely superior to the Unova mid-evo starters but being limited due to being stone evolutions:

EDIT: Seriously, they have the stats of a budget Infernape:

They are meant to be good choices in-game, but turns out Unova is this powercrept place where you can get a daruma orangutan that punches holes in trucks with surprising ease.

Yeah I get the concept but seriously they could do with standard evos since they are just not good enough as is. And I'm pretty sure most in Unova get shot of them by Nacrene city before they even evolve. Plus given their three wise monkey inspiration they could do with an upgrade to make better use of that.

Just give them megas. A mega for a 500 base stat total 'mon is good.

Tired of Rhyperiors, Ursalunas, Kingambits and Archaludons. Or of Mega Audinos, Mega Mawiles and Mega Sableyes.

But that's my personal opinion.
